Ha. Russian prosecutors in bid to ban South Park

Moscow prosecutors began legal proceedings aimed at the cartoon series South Park today in a bid to kill Kenny in Russia.

Prosecutors took action against the 2x2 television channel for broadcasting an episode of the animated comedy show that featured Christmas songs including a medley duet performed by Santa Claus and Jesus Christ.

The Basmanny regional prosecutors office in Moscow has announced that the programme "bore signs of extremist activity".

further down:

A statement by Moscow prosecutors read: "It offends the honour and dignity of Christians and Muslims alike." It could just have easily included Jews, Scientologists, Catholics, Mormons and Moonies all of whom have been mercilessly targeted by American series.

Huh, they have moonbats in Russia, too. "Fairness for all! Stop being so mean! blah blah blah..."

Lizardoid 'McCain Dem' had hard time translating Hussain/Hussein/Hossein, because of the multiple spellings.

Until you try Kaddafi. His name is pronounced in unknown amount of ways:

Gaddafi
Kaddafi
Ghadafi
Kahdafi
Gahdafi
Qaddafi
Gadhafi
Kadhafi
Qadhafi
Kaddhafi
Gaddhafi

Klingon is far easier in comparison.

Reading the local paper online I am constantly surprised at the vitriol that is spewed about Bush. Even discussion about the Space Program and jobs at the Cape all come down to the 'evil republicans'. Conservatives have been branded as racists and intolerant, but the left shows its true color everyday, in every way.

23 zombie  Mon, Sep 8, 2008 11:47:18am

Oh. My. God.

Remember the idiotic "WTO riot" in Seattle in 1999? A bunch of boneheaded "anarchists" ran around for a day smashing things up? Threw a little tantrum? That achieved absolutely nothing other than to earn loathing from the few average people who briefly became aware of the anarchists' existence?

Well, amongst the far-far left, "Seattle" has become become legendary as their most successful riot in years. Say the word "Seattle" in a cluster of black-clad teen crab-lice hosts and a frisson will pass through the crowd. Oooooh, Seattle. The Recreate 68 folks were actually trying to "Recreate 99." Of course they failed, but that was their dream.

Now, out in reality-land, 98% of Americans have completely forgotten about the WTO riot in 1999, or never heard about it to begin with; and of those few that do remember it, the vast majority remember it with scorn and disgust for the rioters.

Why do I mention all this? Because I'm finally getting around to sifting through all the ephemera I collected in Denver, and I came across a little sticker promoting a movie that some bozo made about the WTO riots, nearly ten years after the fact. Actually, the sticker merely says "Battle in Seattle - 9.19.2008" with some New-World-Order-esque bar codes. I thought at first that the anarchists were planning to riot at the next WTO conference in Seattle. But no. I went to the Web site mentioned on the sticker and it was a promo site for a movie.

I was about to dismiss the whole thing as beneath notice when I clicked on the trailer and -- to my utter astonishment -- it's not some grainy amateur documentary, but a major Hollywood blockbuster! Glamorizing the rioters!

Watch it and weep.

I know several people who were in Seattle that day, both as rioters and as residents. And I know a lot of anarchists. And let me tell you, the film's glamorization is utterly beyond ludicrous. The protesters/rioters are just as you suspect, either ignorant stinky runaways or trustafarians having a fling for a few years before becoming disillusioned and settling down to a life of drug addiction and SSI payments; or are snarling revolutionaries with twisted souls and nihilism in their hearts.

But in this film, they're beautiful idealistic wonderful loving progressives!

Shame, shame shame on Charlize Theron, Ray Liotta, Woody Harrelson, Andre "3000" Benjamin, Connie Nielsen and the rest of the Hollywood dunderheads for appearing in this embarassing bit of propaganda.

My only consolation is that it will without the slightest doubt BOMB at the box office. More money spent by the networks in their futile brainwashing efforts.

Oh, I wouldn't underestimate the importance of destiny for a people. Without destiny there is no national narrative. Human meaning implies teleology. We implicitly assume a destiny even as we deny it or are not aware of it.

Destiny: an authentic occurrence of a generation.
Heidegger
Destiny: an organic logic of time.

So, we're just back from a field trip and found Meghan McCain's newly released book My Dad John McCain on the doorstep. Very nicely done and a lovely bio for the younger set (5-9 or so) about a true American hero.

45 karmic_inquisitor  Mon, Sep 8, 2008 11:54:24am

FWIW, I am giddy today because of the polling.

Those who struggle through my wordy posts know that my contention all along is that the Obama lead so far in LV polls has been due largely to "the enthusiasm gap". Pollsters are now admitting that the gap is probably closing but they all haven't adjusted their models (Rasmussen said exactly that when they explained "tie" this AM).

McCain has used Jujitsu on the MSM to bait them into overplaying the Palin hate-fest. Now the MSM is doing things like printing nice things about Palin (NYT) and dropping partisan anchors (MSNBC). They realize that they are the one's feeding the Republican enthusiasm for McCain/Palin.

But the big question here is the effect it will have on the Obamatons. We will see if they grow dispirited. It is hard to get the slackers away from the bong and off the couch long enough to vote, yet that is who they need to put them over the top, and that is who makes up a big part of the enthusiasm gap.

I just hope that the McCain Palin campaign keeps up the subtle mockery so that the middle of the road swing voters see the Obamatons for the cult they are and start looking at Obama for his record (and lack thereof) rather than a phenom. When that sets in, Obama won't be able to recover and the slackers won't get off the couch, just as they failed to for Kerry despite underwear give aways by Michael Moore.

The Black Helicopters over Portland OR, were real!

SAN DIEGO — Combat-clad operatives dangling from small, black helicopters zipping over buildings is almost a routine sight at military training bases.

But the sight of troops along the Portland, Ore., skyline over three hours one evening last month caught many residents — and the mayor’s office — by surprise. Many flooded telephone lines and news blogs with complaints and outrage at the unexpected military activity.

“The feedback we got from the community was very loud and very negative,” said John Doussard, a spokesman for Portland Mayor Tom Potter. The response forced the police chief to cancel training planned for downtown two days later, Doussard said.

Poor widdle moonbats, don't like being protected!

I'm not surprised. Yesterday, the LA Daily News published an editorial commentary by Democracy Now's Amy Goodman complaining about police brutality and making politically motivated arrests of accredited journalists during the Labor Day anarchist riots in St. Paul. Of course, the demonstrators / rioters did nothing wrong - the police were just fascists.

It seems that in their frustration, the hard left is working harder and harder to glamorize and mainstream the extremists.

What I learned from that episode in history is that violence pays off. The media, the mayor, and the court system all shirked their responsibilites. Most of the thugs were given a slap on the wrist. I was in Europe at the time and it made headlines there from the degree of violence. The dim bulbs complain about police violence while at the same time rioting. The police are trying to perform organized crowd management. More of these people needed to end up in jail rather than suing for damages from the taxpayers. Total breakdown of local government.

It was 8/25, while we were still in major disagreement with Russia. There was no way anyone could've figured out that they were ours instead of theirs.

CNN is breathlessly running with the "cellphone pics" as proof that what the enemy says it true.

It is simply astounding that this network continues to spew out its venom. But I must say that above all, it is a testimony as to the strength of the democracy in America.

Sadly, it likely only reflects CNN's assessment of what its viewership wants.

CNN is becoming creepier with every passing day...(and I thought Wolf Blitzer and the Letter Reader were scrapping the bottom of the barrel...well, now there's that Rick Sanchez who's in full attack mode -- whether he's going after the "evil" Amerikkans in Afghanistan; Sarah Palin for failing to abort her Trig; ditto for Sarah Palin's daughter; or now with a "news" item making some outrageous claims about "pastors" wanting to weigh in on politics (Yeah, right, Sanchez, tell it all to Rev Wright -- remember him?) -- the list is a long one and growing. Actually, I'm having a very difficult time distinguishing these so-called MSM outlets from The National Enquirer and Internet Bloggers. I no longer see the difference -- whether it's CBC's Neil MacDonald using the KKKos site for "sources" or MSNBC or the BBC or al-Jazeera using dubious (at best) "sources" -- they've descended to some rank "tabloid-style", gonzo "journalism." (Not that this comes as a complete surprise...or that this hasn't been going on for years now -- but the upcoming Nov 4 election has drawn out the very worst forms of partisan guttersnipes, mixing the "news" with generous helpings of outright lies, rumors, and gossip.)

well, they are a money-driven crowd, so, eventually they have to produce box office successes. if they don't, they'll darwin themselves right out of existence...

Tell me about it.

I'm just wondering why is it so easy to pick on villains that are of western origin (as far as Nazi scum goes, that's a given), to the point where an American is now a must-have as the ultimate villain.

Hollywood is absolutely afraid of producing a film where they smack the fuck out of Bin Laden or Jihadists. That's why you have all these pathetic films like "Looking for comedy in the Muslim World", "Sniper", "Kingdom of heaven" or "The Kingdom" or all the Michael Moore trash. Now, although "Iron Man" was excellent and I don't consider it a moonbat's craft, it still had that surprise element that an American criminal was all behind the shitpool, which leads me to a far more bold film; "Live Free Or Die Hard". Why the hell wasn't the bad guys Islamists?

So there you have it. "Battle In Seattle".
