I had my 9 yr. son wear an angel pin carrying the American flag to school today. It was the perfect opportunity to try and explain the events of 9/11. I am hoping he understood. He was looking forward to his schoolmates asking what the pin was for and then he could tell them about the terrorists who flew planes into the twin towers by hijacking four airplanes! He was so bold with how he would answer questions. We will be watching United 93 tonite so he can gain a better understanding. He's an avid FOXNEWS watcher and starting praying for John McCain to become the next president long before McCain had decidely won the nomination. Almost prophetic!

Some of the people who live in my tiny little town in rural CT have soooo much hate for Bush it gets frightening.
I can't imaging living my life with that much hate and no purpose unless you are counting down his remaining days in office.
But there is hope! If McCain gets elected, they can burn up with hatred for another 4 years or so.

There is something else going on in the "hatred of Republicans" that certainly appears to be scapegoating --they seem to be blamed for all the disappointments, suffering, hardships or loss of dreams or world starvation, natural disasters, bad grades or not becoming rich and famous.
It's as though any disappointment or hardship in their lives is because of the Republicans. They are a handy scapegoat.

McCain's first act as President-elect should be a one-time door-to-door handgun rental program for all those people who can't take it.
We'll call it "The McCain Pain Train", all we need is a van, a cheap handgun, and a couple of guys with PDAs and cell phones. "If Barry loses and you want to end it all, just give us a call!"
Our guys would stop by, take your $9.99, hand you the gun, respectfully go to the next room, wait for the bang, retrieve the gun, clean it, and move on to the next call. For an additional $5 they'll notify relatives (and offer a sales pitch while they're at it, naturally).

The Maverick and the Celebrity Con Man
John McCain has been hammering rival Barack Obama for being little more than a vapid "celebrity" and "elitist." But The Nation has obtained a photo revealing just how star-struck a straight-talking maverick can become when offered the chance to celebrate his birthday aboard a yacht filled with celebrities--even if one of those celebrity types turns out to be an A-list con man.

#1 10-15% tax hike across the board for everyone making 45K+.
#2 $5.00 gas as the norm, with spikes over $5 occurring constantly. This will come from a new tax to pay for the "plug in cars in every house".

If Andrew Sullivan writes something I agree with, then I re-check my opinion to make sure it's sound and proper, because he usually is neither. So, if he pisses you off, that means your beliefs are secure. Hey, nobody tell me this lady isn't smart. See how she wiggles out of Gibson's trap ("Are we fighting a holy war?"):
GIBSON: You said recently, in your old church, "Our national leaders are sending U.S. soldiers on a task that is from God." Are we fighting a holy war?
PALIN: You know, I don't know if that was my exact quote.
GIBSON: Exact words.
PALIN: But the reference there is a repeat of Abraham Lincoln's words when he said -- first, he suggested never presume to know what God's will is, and I would never presume to know God's will or to speak God's words. But what Abraham Lincoln had said, and that's a repeat in my comments, was let us not pray that God is on our side in a war or any other time, but let us pray that we are on God's side. That's what that comment was all about, Charlie.
GIBSON: I take your point about Lincoln's words, but you went on and said, "There is a plan and it is God's plan."
PALIN: I believe that there is a plan for this world and that plan for this world is for good. I believe that there is great hope and great potential for every country to be able to live and be protected with inalienable rights that I believe are God-given, Charlie, and I believe that those are the rights to life and liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That, in my world view, is a grand -- the grand plan.
GIBSON: But then are you sending your son on a task that is from God?
PALIN: I don't know if the task is from God, Charlie. What I know is that my son has made a decision. I am so proud of his independent and strong decision he has made, what he decided to do and serving for the right reasons and serving something greater than himself and not choosing a real easy path where he could be more comfortable and certainly safer.

What Did Obama Do As A Community Organizer?
Obama said back in 1985.
“When classmates in college asked me just what it was that a community organizer did, I couldn’t answer them directly,” Obama wrote in his memoir, Dreams from My Father. “Instead, I’d pronounce on the need for change. Change in the White House, where Reagan and his minions were carrying on their dirty deeds. Change in the Congress, compliant and corrupt. Change in the mood of the country, manic and self-absorbed. Change won’t come from the top, I would say. Change will come from a mobilized grass roots.”
(read the whole thing)
So?

Just finished watching 7 Days in September. They show Bill Clinton at one point walking around near Ground Zero responding to a citizen's question, Should we invade Afghanistan? Clinton responds (more or less), We should follow the President's decision, what he decides to do will be the right choice. Even Bill had brains at that moment. When I think of Obama in the seat of presidency in the face of another 9/11 my confidence in the kinds of decisions he would make immediately afterward and in the long run plummets.

But how do you know for sure?
The math tells us.
Simply put. We are taking two very small particles, protons and accelerating them to the speed of light and smacking them head on. All contained in a magnetic bottle. The mass is two protons, even for the brief instant they compress to the mass/density of a black hole it's still the mass of two protons. Regardless of the mass/density, the mass of two protons is insignificant.
Gravity is a weak force, electro-magnetism is nth times more powerful. Your refrigerator magnet stays on the refer in defiance of gravity. Gravity drops of at the square of the distance. The influence of proton mass blackhole at any distance beyond the reaction chamber is non-existent.

Really interesting to note here, that he "couldn't" answer questions directly about what a community organizer does, and instead, he actually describes himself as "pronouncing" this and that and the other.
So now we know what it is community organizers do - they make important-sounding "pronouncements". LOL. And he thinks that is the type of experience our commander-in-chief needs?

Please don't forget that September 11, 2001 was the day when the west finally fought back when the brave passengers on United Airlines Flight 93 rose up against Islamic terrorists to prevent the killing of more of their fellow citizens.
Please also do not forget the west also rose up against Islam 325 years earlier on September 11, 1683 when the Muslim Ottoman Empire attacked the Habsburg Dynasty at Vienna with an army of 100,000. The Muslims had meant to conquer Vienna for over a century, beginning in in 1529 with the Siege of Vienna. The Habsburg were awefully unprepared for the Muslim assault. One brave Christian King stood up. His name was Jan III Sobieski of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Faced with the Muslim threat, he had previously agreed to help defend the Habsburgs in case of an attack. Modern Europe have much to thank Sobieski for staying true to his words, for he marched to Vienna with an army of 70,000, leaving his own kingdom virtually undefended. Sobieski lead the charge against the Turks themselves. The Ottomans were defeated. The Battle of Vienna in 1683 would mark the turning point in the Ottoman Empire's wars against Europe. In the centuries that follow, their power would wane, and by the First World War, the Turks would finally be driven out of Europe.

ut 9/11 has become a brand name. A Republican campaign slogan. Propaganda of the lowest form. 9/11 has become 9/11 with a trademark logo.9/11 (TM) has sustained a president who long ago should have been dismissed, or impeached. It has kept him and his gang of financial and constitutional crooks in office without — literally — any visible means of support.
Dismissed? How you Constitutional ignoramus.
Impeach? On what charge, I've never had anyone ever give me a charge. Bush lied, well that's not a crime. Perjury is.
Visible means of support? Whatcha you talkin' 'bout Willis, he won in '04.
There was the former Mayor of the City of New York, the one who took no counter-terrorism measure in his seven years in office between the first attack on the World Trade Center, and the second attack.
With what resources? Turd brain. New York is a CITY, it has no means to do what you ask, secondly Clinton choose to treat the first WTC bombing as a CRIME, not terrorism.

Schedule Of Palin's ABC interviews
Thursday, Sept 11, 6:30 pm Eastern time - World News Tonight
Thursday, Sept 11, 11:30 pm Eastern time - Nightline
Friday, Sept 12, 7:00 am Eastern time - Good Morning America
Friday, Sept 12, 10:00 pm Eastern time - 20/20And a pertinent clip of the interview.
She seems fine to me.
Interesting, the video and the article are dissimilar. For some reason the article talks about hard-line approach to national security and Palin "said that war with Russia may be necessary." The clip talks about her hubris for accepting McCain's invitation. It's a doozy of a hit piece.

OT, but this is pretty good:
Bridge Politics
Before Team Obama continues its attacks on Sarah Palin for at one point voicing some general support for the Bridge to Nowhere, the presidential hopeful has some explaining to do. Let the record show that Barack Obama himself voted for the bridge at least twice, as did his running mate Joe Biden. If Team Obama is to continue to point out that Palin was for the bridge before she was against it, they either must explain why Obama and Biden never denounced the project or, on the other hand, describe why they were in error for supporting it.
Didn't they (Obama/Biden) also vote against spending those funds (Bridge funds) for Hurricane Katrina victims when the bridge was turned down, instead opting to continue to push for the bridge?

Seems to be for the politicians also. They seem to constantly be amazed at the You Tube videos popping up on opinions expressed years previously that they now attempt to deny stating. They seem unaware and surprised when archived copies of speeches, news releases, quotes, and other assorted articles pop up and are used. Few even seem to be aware that many voters now get their information and news, not from the newspaper and TV, but from blog sites and on-line news. The few that do seem to grasp this don't seem to be aware of how to really use it effectively and subsequently get their asses in a sling; to wit the Democrats "speaking" on Daily Kos and Edwards trying to get potty mouthed bloggers to run his blog.

Your comment reminds me of the "Join or Die" cartoon which Paul Revere, I think, drew at the start of the Revolutionary War, which in turn makes me think of the Truthers who appear to have taken to waving the Revolutionary War-era "Don't Tread On Me" flag.
I am disgusted to see them appropriating this historical emblem of American independence.
I don't know if you've seen the John Adams mini series, the Join or Die flag is part of the opening graphics.
The Gadsen (yellow Don't Tread on Me Flag) or the First Naval Jack (red and white striped Don't Tread on Me) have been long time favorites of mine.
The troofers have no clue as to meanings of those flags.

McCain is aware of it. He specifically mentioned Youtube when he was on Leno on the night of 0bama's coronation. (Paraphrasing) "I know now that everywhere I go there's somebody with a camera, and everything I say can end up online". I think he even made a joke about it being hard to be a politician because of Youtube, IIRC.

I noticed that. What in the rainbow bright world does "dont tread on me" have to do with propegating lies, 1/2 truths, and false science (and I'll tell everyone that I dont think the trufers should be anywhere near a school.)

Agreed. The "texture" of the flag is nice too, sharp against the Twin Towers background so subtly depicted.. I have an old CTX monitor - big, heavy etc., but excellent display.
Don't even want to look at Google has up.

What's absolutely amazing is that an individual, all alone, with nothing but a small computer, can produce broadcast video of himself, LIVE, for the world to see. Just a few years ago, that would have required an entire film crew, satellite truck, etc. Very seamless and well-done.
The MSM are no long the gate-keepers.

GIBSON: What if Israel decided it felt threatened and needed to take out the Iranian nuclear facilities?
PALIN: Well, first, we are friends with Israel and I don't think that we should second guess the measures that Israel has to take to defend themselves and for their security.
GIBSON: So if we wouldn't second guess it and they decided they needed to do it because Iran was an existential threat, we would cooperative or agree with that.
PALIN: I don't think we can second guess what Israel has to do to secure its nation.
GIBSON: So if it felt necessary, if it felt the need to defend itself by taking out Iranian nuclear facilities, that would be all right.
PALIN: We cannot second guess the steps that Israel has to take to defend itself.

Waiting for ABC News tonight for the Palin interview ... saw the clip about "a mission from God", she handled OK, not great but OK. I'd have asked Charlie, "Hey, are you like, unfamiliar with religion, or something, to ask such pointedly silly questions?" See in the written story she said "War with Russia might be necessary, since that's what we mean by being in NATO". Better to have punted on that one, Sarah.
She may have to learn to be a little more indirect, discrete, and to reject the leading, smarmy questions she'll get from the press. Of course, better yet, learn to channel her positive energy into redirecting the question and talking positively about the subjects.
She was a journalism major, right?
I expect the campaign will continue to coach her, but I do hope she steps up quickly, we want her to keep spinning off energy and keeping the Democrats "flummoxed", as the ABC article said!

Of all the moronic imbecilic idiotic stupid insanities!
A 10-year-old South Carolina student was suspended from school after his pencil sharpener broke and he did not immediately get rid of the blade inside.
Authorities told The Island Packet of Hilton Head that a teacher at Hilton Head Island International Baccalaureate Elementary School found a small razor blade on the boy in class Tuesday.

OK, lets stop and make an an accounting of how things are.
Picture yourself as Howard Dean (I know it's a stretch).
Obama/Biden is not making much headway, rather it's losing steam.
McCain/Palin is gaining steam.
The Obama campaign needs a woman to offset the Palin effect.
You (as Howard Dean) tells HRC we need you to win.
HRC: "What's in it for me?
Howard: A spot on the ticket.
HRC: "Which spot"?
Howard: "The VP one of course".
HRC: "Not interested in the #2 slot, only the #1.
Howard: "Maybe we can work something out".
HRC: "Well you better if you expect me to bail out your failed experiment".
Howard: "So I take it that you will only join the ticket if you are #1 on the ticket".
HRC: "You got that right sucka".
Howard: "OK, let me see what I can do. I'll get back to you."

That was immediately obvious with the atrocious editing/chop job. Awful.
I'd be interested in hearing the opinions of folks here who do editing and/or video work after they have a chance to see that segment.
It was almost like they actually clipped and spliced film together. Jumpy, and sometimes her mouth was moving with no sound coming out. Yet Charlie Gibson sure looked good and sounded good every time he asked a question.
Editing her answers seems to be a theme with Sarah Palin interviews
