should have been an easy one for Obama but he struggled - think he was trying against every instinct in him to move to the center and he was inarticulate and uncomfortable.

McCain did well and I was happy he kept pointing out that gov need not step in where private sector is doing well

Calling it a "forum" was a bit of an overstatement. The last "forum" I saw was the facade at the Demoncrap convention.

In reality, this "forum" was demonstrative of the feel-good and vapid approach to problems that liberals take. Rather than looking at facts and analyzing the situation, liberals are motivated by emotion. Nowhere was this better evidenced than the tingles which were running through the audience's legs.

She could have taken the easy road in high school and ditched me..
my mother never had a fall bak support group...he mother died when she was only 8 years old..her father was not around..She never had the gov. of a state to make sure everything would always be ok..
It was just her and me..her baby boy...
I was the ring boy when she married my dad...I think things turned out pretty damn good..so tell me how the gov. was involved in the strength and love of my mom?

Not true. Although he had some problems w/ it as initially proposed, he helped to pass a welfare reform bill in Illinois.

No, it made perfect sense. And you're right--your mother took care of you, raised you, and had a job and ran the household by herself, without a government handout. That is something that we don't ask most single mothers to do today. I think it would prove to them how strong they are, but then I wasn't in that position. So I can't say.

Of course. But he's gussied it all up in words like 'hope' and 'change,' and taken all the scary Euro-totalitarianism out of it. Consequently, he's made it a very appealing option to those who want to spend their entire life sucking on the teat of the federal government.

Please check out the links I posted in the other thread on Demographics in the military. It is not poor urban dwellers. The misinformation on the composition is incredibly prevalent.

If you really want to have an eye-opener look at the combat arms composition. The military actually published study in response to Rangel's ramblings about the draft a few years ago. It got little coverage.

Of course Obama won! Didn't you get the memo?

Even if Obama had spent the entire forum babbling incoherent or even bizarre answers, the hosts would have clarified his position for him, then later proclaimed his "vision" for making the public reason out his views, instead of simply stating them.

I find it amazing that O talked about providing opportunities for high school students and college students to volunteer. I could have sworn that the opportunities have always been there. They just need to go out and look for them. Get in touch with your community and you will find all sorts of volunteer opportunities.
