If you didn't see the Nightline version of the Gibson/Palin interview, you missed a VERY good performance by Palin.

I consider the first, badly editted version of the interview to have been conducted in bad faith by Gibson. She was forceful, and knowledgeable to the point of schooling him for his tedious condenscension.

Whew, thought she did well, originally. But she knocked it out of the park, in the lengthier version. WOO!

Well, let's say all this is true. As I recall, Obama was a self-admitted hard partier and stoner in High School....so, I guess he should just quit the race then. Unless they got picture of Gov. Palin killing puppies with her bare hands and eating them raw, this is nothing.

At least the NE doesn't play favorites. Edward's stuff was more racy. If they went after Osama it would be even wilder.

The Enquirer in order to come up with a story can't really find anything that sticks to the parents. So, they try to drum up some dirt on the kids. Somehow I have a feeling that if the kids were prudes the press would probably go after them as being boring. Or they would blame the parents for not exposing their children to a world outside of religious piety.

I agree, the coverage has gotten more strange in the past few years. The baby bump thing is about as strange as it gets. It's like they are trying to make gossip about Jaime Lynn Spears, but at the same time authenticating bad behavior.

It's like they are saying "aw, she's so cute with the bump". When "she" (most of the time) is a grown women and probably makes more than the reporter will ever dream of.

I think it's the "shock factor" of the gossip and that maternity clothing and baby accutrements are a growing market for advertisers.

Even so, he's light years more qualified than the top of the ticket, who was a community organizer ("What?"--Rudy Giuliani), a law journal editor who never managed to publish anything, a state senator who voted "Present" 130 times, and te junior senator from Illinoi who decided to run for President after 142 days in the Senate. He's written, to quote a great woman, two memoirs but no significant legislation.

There's plenty of issues to go after the dems on. Let's point out the MSM's slimy tactics against Republicans, but for our part keep hammering on the very real experience and policy differences between the tickets.

The next President is going to pick two Supreme Court justices. Which candidate we choose will define the court for the next 30 years. Those are huge stakes.

Correct me if I am wrong but Sarah Pallin is a public entity and as such has no expectation of privacy in America so the tabloids can say she eats babies and sucks blood and it is all good to go. Not like the UK with serious libel laws. But her children are not public figures and they could sue, the NI has put itself I think in a dicey position.

Hollywood celebrities have sued the Enquirer and have won. They are considered public figures too. I would think it is hard to win if their sources are lying and the paper made a good faith effort to verify facts. I would think the Enquirer would be able to say "we talked to x number of sources, they all had the same story and they all lied. What could we do about it?"

You may think it's nitpicking, but really, to those of us who lost someone we cared for on 9/11, the McCain's reverential gesture speaks volumes.

i was just trying to make the point that only one persons kids are getting raked over the coals in this election, and it's a pretty disgusting thing to watch.

The East Coast media set has decided that the Palins are white trash and that McCain selected her as a means of exacerbating the racial divide in this country. It always comes down to racism against Barry.

Now I have as big a conservacrush for Sarah BarraCougar Palin as the next three guys, but am I the only one forgetting that Inquirer is the rag that also broke the Jesse Jackson lovechild and John Edwards affair and (presumed) love child?

After a credibility boost like that so recently, I would imagine they have to have SOMETHING to back up their claims. We all know they pay for their sources, but, that doesn't mean they are wrong... Am I the only one concerned that they might actually have something?
