Astounding, the lack of even a veneer of coverage in the media. Obama’s ties to subversive radicals run deep:

…Barack Obama is an integral part of a web of radical activists, whose roots go back to a clandestine Communist Party network in Hawaii centering upon his erstwhile mentor the late black poet Frank Marshall Davis, an agent of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA).

…Obama was introduced to Davis by his grandfather Stanley Dunham, who considered Davis a ‘strong black male figure’ and thought he exerted a ‘positive’ and significant influence over Obama during his high school years. In her view, Davis was just such a black role model for the young Obama and gave him ‘a sense of believing that change can happen’ through ‘living in a diverse world’.

The problem was that Davis believed ‘change’ could best be achieved through Stalinism.

It appears that Davis continued to be a mentor to Obama into young manhood. In Dreams from my Father, Obama relates how, just before he went to college at 18, he was warned by ‘Frank’ not to forget his ‘people’ and not to ‘start believing what they tell you about equal opportunity and the American way and all that shit’.

Despite this close early relationship with a role model and mentor who happened to be a Communist agitator and radical black activist, such matters might nevertheless have raised few eyebrows if Obama’s politics had matured with age. But he appears to have continued along this same radical trajectory – as his 20-year membership of the black power-promoting Trinity United Church of Christ would suggest. A dossier by Cliff Kincaid documents how in 1995 Senator Alice Palmer presented Barack Obama as her chosen successor and protege to a group of extreme left-wingers: William Ayers, Bernardine Dohrn and Dr Quentin Young. These were to play a significant role in Obama’s life and career.

More from Melanie Phillips here.

Democrats accuse locals of being racist toward Obama

YOUNGSTOWN — With the Republican presidential and vice presidential nominees in the Mahoning Valley today for a rally, two local Democratic state legislators said they believe a main reason polls show a tight race is because of racist voters.

“Race — that’s the only reason people in the Valley won’t vote for him,” said state Rep. Thomas Letson of Warren, D-64th, about Barack Obama, his party’s presidential nominee. “There are 1,000 reasons to vote for Obama and one reason why you won’t — race.”

Not gonna. Did. Plunked down $85 billion and said, you're not going to fail.

Now, here's where things get interesting. A bunch of banks were busy trying to put together a $75 billion bailout, but when S&P and Moody's downgraded AIG, the deal fell through. The feds stepped in, figuring that the choice was to either let it go to bankruptcy or to save the company.

They opted to save the company.

Chief Hamas aide assassinated in Syria

THE chief aide to supreme Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal was last week hauled from his car and assassinated north of Damascus, Syrian opposition groups have claimed.

Hisham al-Labadani was slain in broad daylight by unknown gunmen in the city of Homs, according to the Freedom Party of Syria, which runs an opposition political forum from exile in the US.

The Syrian Government has not commented on the claims, and routinely imposes strict silence around the inner workings of state and most controversies that effect it. Hamas has also stayed silent. However, the opposition group said reports from inside Syria confirmed that Labadani had been slain.

Most of my recent photos have been using that Sigma lens combined with a Rebel XTi. Nice results, but think the image stabilization would help make good pictures even better and improve low light situations and crispness of photos. Anyone have any experience with the lens?

While Obama’s meteoric rise is hailed by blinkered liberals as heralding a brave new world of openness and transparency, not to mention peace and love, radicals see it rather differently. After Obama’s victory in the Iowa caucus CPUSA supporter Frank Chapman wrote to the People’s Weekly:

Obama’s victory was more than a progressive move; it was a dialectical leap ushering in a qualitatively new era of struggle. Marx once compared revolutionary struggle with the work of the mole, who sometimes burrows so far beneath the ground that he leaves no trace of his movement on the surface. This is the old revolutionary ‘mole,’ not only showing his traces on the surface but also breaking through.’

Not surprisingly, therefore, this underground ‘mole’ has been backed to the hilt by American Communists. In 2004, the Chicago Communist Party backed his successful campaign for the Senate...

C-17 crew lands after-dark landing in Antarctica

9/12/2008 - PEGASUS ICE RUNWAY, Antarctica (AFPN) -- A C-17 Globemaster III aircrew from McChord Air Force Base, Wash., performed the first known after-dark landing in Antarctica using night vision goggles here Sept.
11.

The McChord aircrew, consisting of active duty Airmen from the 62nd Airlift Wing and Reservists from the 446th Airlift Wing, verified the C-17's capability to access McMurdo Station, Antarctica, by landing here in complete darkness using night vision technology in combination with reflective cones.

The mission was flown as part of Operation Deep Freeze, which is commanded by U.S. Pacific Command's Joint Task Force Support Forces Antarctica. Headquartered at Hickam AFB, Hawaii, and led by 13th Air Force, JTF SFA's mission is to provide air- and sealift support to the National Science Foundation and U.S. Antarctic Program.

There is no sunlight in Antarctica for several months of the year, from around late March to the middle of August. The night vision goggle concept will make it easier and safer for C-17 aircrews to get into Antarctica any time of the year.

Fog of war story? Enough, Walid Shoebat: Why is Sean Hannity's Fake Terrorist Harassing Me?

Years ago, when I first heard of Walid Shoebat--the man who claims to have been a Palestinian Islamic terrorist--I liked his story. Since then, I praised him in more than one entry on this site. That was a mistake.
[snip]
Recently, Shoebat spoke at the U.S. Air Force Academy. Supposedly, they did a background check on him. But what they should have done was a psychiatric evaluation. Vouching for him was Steven Emerson, who is another similar story and a phony, sad to say (but that's a topic for another day). Birds of a feather.
[snip]
So how do I know that "Sandra Medina" a/k/a "Aga Tangola" is Walid Shoebat? Well, he and his son sent me e-mails, under their real names when they wanted me to post a well-written letter the son wrote, using the exact obscure screen name and an almost identical e-mail address three years ago. I feel bad about involving his son, who seems genuine and like a good kid (so I am redacting his first name), but enough is enough:

BTW, Shoebat and Emerson were interviewees in Obsession.

I have to wonder how much expertise Ms Schlussel has applied to deciphering info from the email headers, and whether some of the email she believes was from Showbat might have had other origins.

Do you think? I want to agree with you, but I think that most people have very little understanding of Wall Street that they assume all of this is the result of blatant greed. All too often they see reports of CEOs getting multi-million payouts, they hear of layoffs and outsourcing to India, and factory closings. Italian is usually beautiful.

Charles the V (holy Roman emperor) said:

I speak French to other men.

I speak Spanish to God.

I speak Italian to women.

I speak German to my horse.

Do you think? I want to agree with you, but I think that most people have very little understanding of Wall Street that they assume all of this is the result of blatant greed. All too often they see reports of CEOs getting multi-million payouts, they hear of layoffs and outsourcing to India, and factory closings. Economics and finance is a tricky thing and people just assume greed is what causes the problems.

Perhaps I should say "average non rabidly moonbatticus" instead... on the other hand it's like believing the POTUS directly did X, Y or Z to cause the current situation, like Katrina... it's a witch hunt/fishing expedition and will self implode somewhere along the way... the only consolation is that it's being attempted by the least competent of the opposition...

"O-R" -

Thank You. I look at it this way - If GOLD is UP - Bad for the US. Last time GOLD was at/near current prices was in 1980. About $825/oz. In 1980 Dollars at its peak. Factoring in inflation, the dollar is probably 100%+ stronger now than then. Don't know about you - I do NOT pine for the days of the Carter Administration. Pres. Carter was right about the idea of alternative energy subsidy, and (ducking large brickbats) adoption of the Metric System as at least an alternative - and LITTLE ELSE.

Nancy Pelalegosi can blame whoever she wants, the American people know it's her fault, as well as her corrupt colleagues in Congress.

The message of Union's state wide. Oh it has nothing to do with the ridiculous work rules that make efficient operation a fantasy, or refusal to have pay based on merit ensuring the group works to the lowest common denominator, or the fact they spend more time working out ways to avoid work rather than just doing it. Nope, its those greedy CEOs that drive these companies to China.

Certainly there was greed and business practices of some of the mortgage lenders were less than savory. But I take away from the article that the Clinton Administration, the people that were supposed to protect the lower and middle income wage earners, did just the opposite. Banks were conservative with the money they lent. The Community Reinvestment Act reforms passed in 1995 put banks on the defensive. They were shaken down by "community activists" to lend to poorer neighborhoods. Without the reforms the Clintons wanted, perhaps some of this could have been averted.

Then my friend, you would have been in heaven back in the day when the "HOTEL-3's" thundered off of the decks of ships of the line.
The crews would get really nervous if there WASN'T at least 3-5 gallons
of hydraulic fluid running down the sides of airframe and the louder it sounded and the more it vibrated meant a smooth running helo as far as they were concerned.

going parallel to one another.
