Nothing like a close scrape to change your perspective.
I think few people get to age 50 without a close scrape.
Me, I've had several.
Plus, attending the funerals of people younger than yourself does wonders.
Just my observation.

I believe that the American people will rein him in on Nov 4th., confining his damage potential to that of 1 of 100 voters in the U.S. Senate.

One thing everyone missed about Biden last week:

Biden talks about Catholic social doctrine

I'm shocked nobody picked up on this.

Joe Biden says the Church is broad-minded ("bigger than that"). Sorry, Joe, but this isn't a meat on Friday issue. He has facilitated abortion via the law, and the Church makes it plain that such is a grave sin. He must sleep through the sermon every Sunday and not read the bulletins, because this is NOT a matter for discussion - it is basic doctrine.

I'm an economic conservative and pro-strong military, and those are really important. I will weigh those issues heavily, because those are the things the President and Congress control.

However, as a Catholic, I loathe the self-deception of people like Joe Biden, who are commiting a heresy, are in excommunication with the Church, and yet are going blithely on as if they are good Catholics. They should be honest with themselves and become Episcopalians.

Nope, it's worse this week. The AP posted a "poll" claiming that white Southerners won't vote for Obama solely because he's black.

By all means, AP, paint every Southerner with a wide brush. Dolts.

I'm a white Southerner, and I'm voting against his record, his poor choice of friends, and his party.

BTW, a recent poll shows the percentage of white Alabamians voting for Obama to be greater than the percentage of black Alabamians voting for McCain. It's a small poll, but I think my point would also hold up with a larger sample.

This is interesting:

RCP polling data

Gallup Tracking 09/17 - 09/19 2756 RV 50 44 Obama +6
Rasmussen Tracking 09/17 - 09/19 3000 LV 48 47 Obama +1

So what I'd like to know is how does one determine a "likely voter"? Isn't that a subjective determination, whereas RV is objective?

"likely voter" depending on the methodology, means someone who has voted in the last election. Anyone can register to vote. Not all registered voters actually vote.

sucks to be you......

(can you claim it as 'threat assesment'?)

239 Lucius Septimius  Sun, Sep 21, 2008 2:39:29am

Absentee ballots generally favor Republican candidates; the unspoken national scandal is that they rarely ever get counted. In 2000 the number of uncounted absentee ballots in California was large enough that, had the division of votes followed the pattern observed in the previous two elections, GWB would have easily received enough votes to have had a majority of the popular vote. Now there wouldn't have been enough votes to change the results in California, which would still have gone for Gore -- that was the state's rationale in not counting them. But given the fact that better than 50%, bordering on 70% if I recall, of absentee ballots go for Republican candidates, there were enough of the things lying around to have ensured that the GWB would have trumped Gore at the national level.

Next time one of the "Florida-Ohio-Count every vote" conspiracy theorist starts fulminating, lay that one on them.

re: #276 Killian Bundy

/my cats cost too much, no way, no how

Absolutely not. But there are two possible scenarios I can see to explain the fleas:

1. Daughter's cat had fleas back in March when she visited, and while we thought we got them all then, we may not have. They could have been lurking somewhere in the basement, and the cats have gone down to the basement recently.

2. With my husband's surgery, I've had a lot of people from a CNA service in the house to help care for my disabled son. One of them could have brought the flea(s) in.

Neither one makes me feel particularly better.

re: #278 Killian Bundy

Yes, but unfortunately it is a distinct possibility. I wish these services would actually go into the homes of the people they want to hire and see how well they keep their own homes clean to determine how well they will work out as CNAs. I think it would be very revealing.

Poor Achmed. Can't smoke. West Bank is a country already? Articles such as this prove we're well infiltrated.

RAMALLAH, West Bank —It's the fasting month of Ramadan, and fear of God keeps taxi driver Abdel Karim Romaneh from reaching for the pack of cigarettes next to his gearshift during the day, despite his pounding head and frazzled nerves.
But once the sun sets and the call of "Allahu Akbar" from Ramallah's mosques ends the daytime ban on food, drink and cigarettes, Romaneh indulges in his favorite vice.
"I don't want to quit smoking," said Romaneh, 42, who lights one Gauloise Light with another, inhaling deeply in between sips from a glass of thick Arabic coffee. "Smoking is a joy."
Like Romaneh in this West Bank Palestinian city, millions of Muslim smokers get on a nicotine roller coaster during Ramadan, which ends this year in late September. But health campaigners are increasingly trying to get them to quit altogether, using Ramadan as a springboard for anti-smoking drives.
A London mosque runs a "Stop smoking for Ramadan, stop smoking for life" appeal on its Web site, and a Saudi volunteer network is trying to bring that message to 10 million Arab Internet users.

The problem is that at this time of the day I need something to do or to watch. I don't want to turn lights on because that will wake up the son (even down the hall, he can see the lights). So I have to do something in the dark. That just leaves the computer, and nothing else is jumping at this hour of the night/day.

They are completely biased. The top story right now over the last 24 hours has over 7600 digs, and is supposedly the best anti-McCain ad ever.

Insomnia, and me feeling like fleas are walking all over me. I hate this. The cats have FrontLine, the house has been vacuumed like crazy, flea powder and/or spray has been used, and still I feel like bugs are walking over me.

I couldn't sleep in my bed because the flea powder smelled too strong and triggered asthma issues, so I tried to sleep in the living room. What did the cats do? Sleep on top of me, vying to see who was going to sleep closest to my face.

Good morning!

Hiya {vxbush}!

Fleas? Yuck.

Did you know there are over 2,000 varieties of fleas in the world, and over 200 types in the US alone? A female flea can lay up to 50 eggs a day, and each newly hatched flea can begin breeding within 48 hours. This means that one flea could within 9 months be responsible for producing over a trillion more fleas.

Killian Bundy!

LOL - love the caption.

I'm shivering just thinking about those nasty, little critters! I hope they all die.

The Kid puked twice last night, something he just doesn't do--maybe five times in his entire life. He thought it was pretty cool the first time but, he changed his mind by the time the second round hit. He sneezed a lot on Friday, and had a sore throat so, maybe he's coming down with something. I'm wearing my surgical mask every time I'm near him or in his room.

Why? My decision has been made. There is nothing McCain can do that would make me ever consider voting for Obama.

MY DECISION was made back last feb. for me it was either John McCain or Rudy and as much as i like Rudy he ran a very bad race so and since National Security and the Iranian bomb are my main issues and that as it turned out ONLY ONE PERSON RUNNING IS QUALIFIED TO BE C.I.C. from day one and that is John McCain and he was the most quified for that role of anyone running for the GOP nod.

And if Obama should win (bite my typing fingers) the rampent sexism and ageism coming from his camp will set back women and older people back a generation or more.

You claim to be running for hope and change. And yet during your tenure as a state senator you did nothing to change politics as usual, either in the senate or in your home town of Chicago. During your time as a federal senator, you have done next to nothing to change anything. Why should we believe you now?

Follow up question:
Why are you unwilling to explain your true relationships with William Ayers, Tony Rezko, Raines, etc. etc?

Follow-follow up question:

Tony Rezko was indicted in Chicago, and his trial brought in some of the biggest names in Illinois politics, including current governor Rod Blagojevitch. How can you claim Tony Rezko as a friend and as a political bundler, and yet claim that you are clean?

Why are the papers from the Annenberg Challenge not open for public viewing, despite being at a public library? What are you hiding?

[Link: gatewaypundit.blogspot.com...]

Apparently, Tim Mahoney, through one of his consultants, has paid a former staffer, Trish Allen, $250,000 in hush money to keep a sexual harassment lawsuit brought by Mrs. Allen against Congressman Mahoney from the public view.

And that's on top of a residency scandal.

The discrepancies in where Mahoney claims his primary residence and the address listed on his voter I.D. card (a barn) are supposedly due to the fact that Mahoney and his wife no longer share the same address.

Something is coming up on the campuses near me called Trust Me; I'm a Voter. Apparently they are trying to sign up new voters and discuss issues, but given that this is happening on college campuses where the majority of professors and students are democrat, I'm a bit concerned that it isn't as apolitical as it sounds. (And, I'm sorry to hear your son isn't feeling well. Throwing up is definitely one of the I'd rather nots.)

Thanks!

Mates, The Obama campaign has much to hide. They cannot reveal his true Marxist ideology because they will lose the electorate. Most Americans sense this and I predict a land slide victory for the McCain/Palin ticket. McCain picking Palin as his running mate destroyed the Democrats credibility. The media is digging their own grave with their pit-bull attacks against Palin and her family.

We are so wealthy in this country - so many people take it for granted.

Even when times are bad - most of us will have at least one car in the family, often 2 or 3; there will be several TV sets in the house; often, a computer or two; a cell phone for every family member; hot and cold running water in the house.

These are things many people in other parts of the world can only dream about.

I don't recall any tantrums in public. (Of course, that doesn't mean they didn't happen--maybe my brain erased the memories.) His speciality in public was to stand up in the cart in the check-out line and announce to the world that he had a penis, and to ask if anyone wanted to see it.
