As mentioned in the previous thread, this interview [cough cough] could have been scripted by Tehran. Utter softball bullshit.

It's "time for culture and reason instead of atomic bombs", says Members Only. I'm sure Larry will call him on his threats against Israel, Qods Force operating in Iraq, etc., right? And then the Tooth Fairy will drop by.

12 opinionated  Tue, Sep 23, 2008 6:18:47pm

King- "Would you meet Palin? You and Palin have something in common- you were both Mayors".

There are no words.

13 Cygnus  Tue, Sep 23, 2008 6:18:58pm

Is there supposed to be a link to this or am I just goin' nuts?

It's all the fault of the United States...

Larry "The Fossil" at his best.

16 Sizzlack  Tue, Sep 23, 2008 6:19:13pm

He says this is the time for culture and reason.

By culture I guess he means beating women who don't conform to a ridiculous dress code. And by reason he must mean believing there are no gay people in Iran, except for the ones they hang from cranes.

He really is nuts.

17 HelloDare  Tue, Sep 23, 2008 6:19:24pm

So if Mahmoud could be any animal, which one would he pick?

18 Charles  Tue, Sep 23, 2008 6:19:27pm

I couldn't watch, as I don't know which of the two I find more repulsive.

31 Occasional Reader  Tue, Sep 23, 2008 6:22:36pm

Who's going to wade over to the Kos/DU fever swamps to report on their gushing admiration of Ahmadinejad?

32 Onslow  Tue, Sep 23, 2008 6:22:37pm

Larry King was the Miami Dolphins' color analyst back in the day.

Not sure what to make of his career trajectory, although now he's well compensated.

33 Noam Sayin'  Tue, Sep 23, 2008 6:23:19pm

Is he just asking questions, or is he getting a translation of the answers.

Achi is totally bullshitting Larry and he just sits there.

34 lawhawk  Tue, Sep 23, 2008 6:23:29pm

And through it all, everyone kisses up to Larry King to be on his show. I don't get it. He doesn't interview people so much as give 'em free advertising.

CNN laughs all the way to the bank, and they couldn't care less what Ahmadinejad said just as long as the ratings come in.

35 mikeymom  Tue, Sep 23, 2008 6:23:29pm

From the Larry King question generator...

Is it just me or are you actually glowing a bit?
Boy I know one thing, that Ayatollah guy from Iran was sure a thorn in Ronald Reagan's side huh?
I read earlier that Iran is actually called the Islamic Republic of Iran? What was the inspiration for the name change?
So who were you rooting when you watched The 300? And Is it just me or was that Xerxes guy really handsome? I bet the ladies love him back home huh?
So whatever happened to Persia? I can't find it on my globe?
So have you ever weaved a carpet?
Does your wife like to shop as much as mine does?
Is it just me or do you seem taller on TV?

55 gibsonz  Tue, Sep 23, 2008 6:29:23pm

I didn`t think it was possible to be worse then Ellen saying...uh-huh...uh-huh...uh-huh for five minutes while doing a supposed "interview"...I see I was wrong!

56 Fenway_Nation  Tue, Sep 23, 2008 6:29:44pm

Its probably for the best that I'm not watching right now, since nothing could prepare me for the sheer vapidness of the fluffball questions King is tossing at the leader of a regime who has been fighting a war with the United States through its proxies for the last 28 years.

/I'd likely be throwing something more substantive than fluffballs at the TV screen if I had to hear half with bullshit with the expectation that I take it seriously as a hard-hitting and insightful interview

MSM is clueless. Hillary would be Democrat nominee if it wasn't for the MSM bias toward Obama. So the now the Democrats are beginning to find they have a very weak candidate with the Obama/Biden ticket. Notice how all the campaign signs in front of the houses simply say "Obama". Biden was an extremely poor choice and Hillary would be just as bad. IF a Obama/Hillary ticket is possible and Obama won, he would probably probably be shaking in his boots at the thought of ruthless Hillary putting a "hit" on the prez. Instant President Hillary, with Nancy Pelosi vice-president.

They renamed their country from Persia to Iran in 1935 in support of Hitler.

The name Iran is a cognate of Aryan, and means "Land of the Aryans"

MSM is clueless. Hillary would be Democrat nominee if it wasn't for the MSM bias toward Obama. So the now the Democrats are beginning to find they have a very weak candidate with the Obama/Biden ticket. Notice how all the campaign signs in front of the houses simply say "Obama". Biden was an extremely poor choice and Hillary would be just as bad. ...

I saw an Obama/Biden sticker on a car this evening. The Obama was bright white and visible from a long distance. Biden was a pale white/gray and unreadable form more than a car length or so back.

Yeah, Biden was a poor choice and is being marginalized. Dumb Democrats.

"When the stock market crashed, Franklin D. Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the, you know, the princes of greed. He said, 'Look, here's what happened,'" Barack Obama's running mate recently told the "CBS Evening News."

I think Biden's building a case to get off the ticket in favor of Hillary.

Then a buddy asked me, "How do you know him?"

"Who?"

"Dude, that's Krist Novoselic from Nirvana."

If I'd know that at the time, I'd have had at least another half hour on how Seattle ripped off the Minneapolis Sound.

Decent guy. Took shit from some geek he didn't know.

...For years, the Wall Street Journal has been warning that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were taking reckless chances, but liberal Democrats especially have pooh-poohed the dangers.

Back in 2002, the Wall Street Journal said: "The time for the political system to focus on Fannie and Fred isn't when we have a housing crisis; by then it will be too late." The hybrid public-and-private nature of these financial giants amounts to "privatizing profit and socializing risk," since taxpayers get stuck with the tab when high-risk finances don't work out.

Similar concerns were expressed in 2003 by Gregory Mankiw, then chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers to President Bush. But liberal Democratic Rep. Barney Frank criticized Mankiw, citing "concern for housing" as his reason for supporting Fannie Mae. Barney Frank said that fears about the riskiness of Fannie Mae were "overblown."

Maxine Waters and other members of the Congressional Black Caucus have also been among the liberal Democrats defending Fannie Mae. Just last year, Sen. Charles Schumer advocated legislation to allow Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to increase their already huge role in the mortgage market. Republican Rep. Mike Oxley has also defended these hybrid financial giants.

Both Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac have been generous in their contributions to politicians' political campaigns, so it is perhaps not surprising that politicians have been generous to them.

This is certainly part of "the mess in Washington" that Barack Obama talks about. But don't expect him to clean it up. Franklin Raines, who made mega-millions for himself while mismanaging Fannie Mae into a financial disaster, is one of Obama's advisers. ...

Who's going to wade over to the Kos/DU fever swamps to report on their gushing admiration of Ahmadinejad?

I started a search and came across this first:

McCain Aide’s Firm Was Paid by Freddie Mac

And a typical comment:

can't wait to hear McGrumpy explain this away
Payments continued for what? Because he's on the McCain campaign?

The DUmmies are COMPLETELY unaware that Obama is the #2 recipient in the entire congress of Fannie Mae contributions. The numbers are tracked between 1989 and 2008...19 years of contributions, and Obama with his 4 years in the senate, 2 of which he has been actively been campaigning for president, has managed to secure the second most amount of money from Fannie Mae, which successfully avoided tough regulations and scrutiny of its lending mortgage practices. Democrats killed the measure in committee. And nearly brought down the economic system of the Western hemisphere last week. Think about that as you read the absolute clueless comments by the incompetents at DUmmieland. I haven't seen such blatant lying about any event since Clinton got caught with that large and in-charge intern. Gotta love election season.

Bill Clinton is really making the rounds of TV shows this week.

On all of these shows, he's saying nice things about John McCain and Sarah Palin while also admitting that he's supporting whats-his-name.

In a clip from Letterman, a guest afterward (Chris Rock?) said that Clinton seemed to be avoiding mentioning Barack Obama's name.

So, Bill Clinton is supporting He Who Must Not Be Named?

It must be infuriating for the Democrats to see Clinton saying nice things about McCain and Palin while the liberal op-eds are attacking McCain/Palin in every way they can find.

If ever there was a time for Bubba's face to turn purple in rage, surely the Dems think NOW IS IT! Bubba should be purple in rage against Sarah Palin, her children, Alaska, snowmobiles, eye glasses, and sweet little girls who smooth their baby brothers' hair down on national TV.

Bill Clinton is just smiling and saying how much he likes the Palin children.

Today I was talking about this with someone and they said it wasn't the individual borrower's fault. I said "you mean, people are not responsible for their actions?" "Yes, you see people starting out really don't understand high finances like mortgages and they believe the unscrupulous lenders who say they can afford it. --it's the fault of Corporations and I don't think we should bail them out."

I don't know, but I know what I can afford and what I can't. The largest single expense in my budget is the mortgage. How hard is it to figure out?

Geez, I don't know everything about mortgages, even though I've bought two houses and refinanced the first one once and the second one twice, and have also bought and sold a rehab property. But y'know, it's like, "OK, we have exactly this much coming in. Sarah Palin is Stupid! "What does the VP do all day?" (paraphrasing here as best I can remember - ctp) 8-1-08

I have no idea if that quote/paraphrase is accurate or not but if it is, I'd bet 1 million quatloos that it was taken out of context.

In my admittedly very limited observations, I've noticed that cars with liberal bumper stickers have lots more bumper stickers than virtually anyone else. I remember seeing an old van having (no joke) 30 bumper stickers on the back with stuff like "Beware the American Taliban". I remember as an undergrad in college seeing little cars have about 10-15 bumper stickers with sayings like "Peace is Patriotic" and "Impeach Bush".

/I guess the left thinks that the more bumper stickers they have, the better they'll get their message across.

Yeah. I was totally tickled with his comments on Mr. Palin. And 'tis true - you cannot call a guy who completes 500 miles of a snow machine race with a broken arm anything but a manly man.

AND yeah - President Clinton masterfully got in some good shots at Barry during that part of the interview without actually mentioning Barry. He is really, really good at that.

He is indeed, and how sweet it is that the Dems are now having to deal with Clinton doing to them, what he (and all the rest of 'em) did to Repubs for so many years.

Pelosi, Reid - they all keep trying to be Bill Clinton, but he is one of a kind.

Look. This sort of stuff came up on an earlier thread today and Charles had to delete a whole bunch of nast posts.

LGF users don't stoop to the level of KOS and DU, and we don't leave remarks that can be taken and plastered over other blogs and used against us.

My sensibilities have nothing to do with it, it's Charles' rules, it's his blog, and we have to ability to self-monitor the entries. That's why we can vote a post up or down or report it to Charles.

So, don't argue with me, speak to Charles if you don't like it.

Bill could have been such a great man. He looks Presidential. Sometimes he even acted Presidential. He supported free trade in the face of massive protests and riots.

If he'd only grown up in a different era, and hadn't been so self-serving and power-hungry and skirt-chasing. Arkansas is a great Heartland state with great people. If Bill had only embraced their values instead of East Coast values, the way Truman (Missouri) and Eisenhower (Kansas) always remained true to their roots.

I have been at my place in the city quite a bit lately and it is right next door to the Obama headquarters. The cars in the parking lot are mostly filled with bumpers stickers. On Saturdays, they have meetings and when they are done they all come out with clipboards and hug before they get in their cars to register voters. They come back at the end of the day and have meetings. Tennessee is a very red state so I assume they are just trying to get numbers up for Obama and want to be a part of the "O" Team. I see them at shopping areas and I always ask what campaign they are with and they always say no campaign we are just registering voters because it is good for the country blah blah blah. They don't realize that I see them every Saturday.

My husband has asked me not to put a McCain sticker on my truck I bring to the city because he fears for my safety. This is the first election I have not had a sticker on my vehicle. It is a relief when I get back to the farm and I will NOT be in the city on November 4 because this place in the city is in a very "urban" area downtown. Sad really. I hate this election and pray for it to be over and McCain is on his way to the whitehouse.

I don't know. It is difficult to passively sit by and watch an enabler of pure hatred and evil merrily make his case for dismantling Israel and wiping out the Jews...all with a smile on his face.

Do you really question that President Assmadinejad wouldn't mind seeing Larry Bite the bullet? This guy is a Hitler. You cool and calm types forget history, and act as if this were some academic conversation on the mating habits of the Tse Tse Fly.

As far as wishing harm to King-I did not advocate violence happen to him. Perhaps Larry just had eaten a date and forgot the pit.

Something happened over the years and the quality of his guests and shows have deteriorated to the point he's at today. Retirement to the Village might be his only out.

An update on Dog. She is in the doggy hospital in an oxygen incubator. She has congestive heart failure and we are praying she comes through this without suffering. Vet said we'll know more tomorrow. Vet also said she may only live a few more months. I've decided that I'm not putting her through anymore tests. I just want them to treat what they can and make her comfortable. I'm not going to make her suffer for me. It was hard enough to leave her there tonight. I just called and they say she is doing pretty good.
That little girl is my fur baby and even though she is not a guide dog, she knows how to take care of me. She will walk me around things, shows me the cutout curbs and lets me know if there is something coming our way.
Thanks to all who said a little prayer for my Meggie.
You all are such wonderful people (Lizards).

If she doesn't make it, have a deep grave properly dug and start a flower bed.
Mark the site with her favorite toy.
I promise you it will give you some fond memories for years.

At least, it worked for me and the family. 8 years after the fact, everybody will still say something like "Ginger grows some great flowers, doesn't she? What a great dog that was".

No sarcasm intended ... I feel your pain.

Thank you, Walter.

Thanks, I guess. This makes me wonder what has happened to us in general. I don't think I remembered a time when differing opinions on politics had become so cutthroat. As I have said before, I'm pissed at the whole bunch of them in DC. But I think they like keeping us at each other throats, so we don't have the time or inclination to realize that we are ALL getting screwed.

And they go on the're merry way, why we are in the ditches, clawing away at each other.

We know it happens on KOS and DU, and we see it popping up here. No side is immune, and I really think that as long as we keep fighting amoungst ourselves, we are just allowing the jecks at the tops to run away with more and more.

Before we know it, poof!, the country as we knew it is GONE.

Think about it.

I don't know how to get the anti-idiotarian message across. It seems almost impossible anymore, because so many people have absolutely no grounding in rationality, common sense, understanding of this nation's founding economic, political, and social principles, etc.

For example how do you explain to someone who doesn't even understand capitalism that, as long as Democrats support higher taxes and bigger government and more regulation and so on, Republicans are nearly ALWAYS the better choice for our economy, because it's better to have a Republican who might occasionally live up to conservative principles than to have a Democrat who will live up to liberal principles? It's too easy for people to say "Gee, the economy looks bad and there's a Republican in the White House, so I'm voting Democrat to see if they can do better." Well, yeah, they might, if they support lower taxes, smaller government, and fewer laws and regulations. But if they did that, they wouldn't be Democrats.

At the end of the day there is no substitute for understanding the fundamentals, and the only way for that to happen is through education. Elections are the last step after years of schooling and absorbing cultural values (or choosing your own). Changing minds at the point is almost impossible. Sadly, education today focuses on things like environmentalism and diversity, while capitalism and freedom are vilified. The URL you're citing (you posted it in at least one earlier thread) is getting blocked by the Spybot IE helper which says "Spyware". Basically that means the URL is trying to install something on computers that visit that site. Not good, imho.

Funny you should mention making school "fun". There is this notion among some educators that math is boring, science is boring so they have to make it "fun", usually by some dull means. Teachers who have that view should not be teaching those subjects. Math and science are anything but boring if you understand and appreciate what they mean. Math and science give man power to shape and improve the world we live in. Without them we'd live in caves. They make it possible for us to cure diseases, build airplanes, create the Internet, watch movies, create warm, dry spaces in cold climates, and cool, dry spaces in hot climates, etc. Science and math are awesome tools with amazing and exciting potential ... boring? Yeah, to someone who doesn't think!

I need to ask you to support an urgent secret business relationship with a transfer of funds of great magnitude.

I am Ministry of the Treasury of the Republic of America. My country has had crisis that has caused the need for large transfer of funds of 800 billion dollars US. If you would assist me in this transfer, it would be most profitable to you.

I am working with Mr. Phil Gram, lobbyist for UBS, who will be my replacement as Ministry of the Treasury in January. As a Senator, you may know him as the leader of the American banking deregulation movement in the 1990s. This transactin is 100% safe.

This is a matter of great urgency. We need a blank check. We need the funds as quickly as possible. We cannot directly transfer these funds in the names of our close friends because we are constantly under surveillance. My family lawyer advised me that I should look for a reliable and trustworthy person who will act as a next of kin so the funds can be transferred.

Please reply with all of your bank account, IRA and college fund account numbers and those of your children and grandchildren to wallstreetbailout@treasury.gov so that we may transfer your commission for this transaction. After I receive that information, I will respond with detailed information about safeguards that will be used to protect the funds.

Yours Faithfully Minister of Treasury Paulson

I'd like to hold him down and give him a shave. With an Epilady.

I was thinking more a Husqvarna.

[whistling innocently, again]

Normally, I would agree with you -
I even laughed out loud over this.
But the Epilady is MADE IN ISRAEL!

Geez Larry,

Your response to Dinnerjacket's blathering about Jews stealing land from Palestinians should have been, didn't the jews purchase cast amounts of land from arab landowners in the 1920's?

When Dinnerjacket said the Palestinians were completely innocent of any of the crimes from the Holocaust, why did you not talk about Grand Mufti al Husseni and his SS friends?

Why didn't you ask him about the Al Qoods sending weapons to Hezbollah and Iraqi shia insurgent groups?

Why not ask him about the crackdown on women and child executions.

I can't believe Larry just sat there when he said the Iranian authorities doesn't intrude into people's homes.

I hope Obama watched this tonight. If its not in or contrary to the Koran or Hadith, Iran is not going to sit down and talk about anything. He thinks Israel is illegal and illegtimate ab initio. Any discussions that allow Israel to exist are out of the question for this nutball. There are some really eerie similarities between how he talks about peace and how Hitler talked about the same in the mid 1930's.

re: #304 Mich-again

Is it me or is Bill Clinton's nose actually getting bigger the more he talks to Greta. Not kidding. Its weird.

Hey, I'm not the only one! It's certainly become bulbous and quite red. Something I have seen in a lot of alcoholics.

I think Biden's building a case to get off the ticket in favor of Hillary.

"When the stock market crashed, Franklin D. Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the, you know, the princes of greed. He said, 'Look, here's what happened,'" Barack Obama's running mate recently told the "CBS Evening News."

Whatta maroon!

Not only was Herbert Hoover the President at the time of the big crash of 1929, there was no television to be on. Television was a laboratory curiosity at the time. Broadcast television hit the marketplace (in a small way) in the latter half of the 1930s, but never hit the big-time until after WWII.

Is it just me or is Larry King starting to look a lot like Stephen Hawking, the physicist in the wheel chair.

In 2012 mini-Satan will be in "Islamic Paradise" with 72 rasins exchanging recipies with SHITler.

Dinnerjacket: When I was growing up we practiced the Christian faith like everyone in our neighborhood...

Larry: You mean Muslim faith.... (1/2 hour pause)

Dinnerjacket: Yes, thank you for that slip up you fucking jew bastard, nice suspenders, where you buy dem Larry

Larry: Why did you change your name from Saborjhian to Ahmadinejad.

Dinnerjacket: You ask me that question one more time and I nuke Israel, leave my Saborjhian name alone, you infidel...

577 paybacktime  Wed, Sep 24, 2008 12:44:43am

Larry King IS a moron.

Did you see how pissed off Jerry Seinfeld got when the suspender wearing Crypt Keeper said that "Seinfeld" was canceled?

Will Ahm-mad-bout-jihad appear on "The View"?

Sit on the couch and cross and uncross his legs surrounded by those harpies? Put on an apron and chefs hat and do a little cooking?

King: "You know of Vice Presidential candidate Mrs.Palin, do you think she could take you in a fight?"

/I wish.

King could have really launched his legacy if he had come out swinging and continued to lead the charge for joos and Israel. As it is, King will remain a wimpish nobody that time will forget.

It was a miracle, I tell you! For the first time ever, LK had a talking pig's a$$hole appearing with him, live on TV. Of course, it s#it more than it spoke, but it was amazing and disgusting at the same time...oh, that was Ahmadinnerjacket? I couldn't tell the difference...

I see him in an orange jumpsuit.

I see him in a box.
Six feet under.
Unmarked location.
Being eaten by worms.

Because as people of the book, both Jews and Christians are really Muslims; they just don't know it because their copies of the Quran (Torah and Bible) were corrupted. Only the Muslims received an uncorrupted version of Allah's word in the Quran. Therefore, Judaism isn't really a religion in its own right; it's actually just a corrupted version of Islam.

That was painful to write... Ow. That was Mahmoud's belief up there, not mine!

re: #137 livefreeor die

How can that be if they and Christians are considered fellow "people of the book" (or something like that) by Islam?

He's not the only one of his faith who says this, of course.

Islam was founded almost 2000 years after the Israelites received the Torah and yet Islam claims that Moses (or Musa, as they call him) received the Quran on Mt. Sinai, not the Torah. They say that the Jews took the Quran from him and rewrote it as the Torah. Mohammed supposedly restored the Quran to its original almost 2000 years later.

I am writing this because I just need to express my feelings regarding this whole banking mess.

I believe that there are individuals who are responsible for getting us into this mess. I believe that heads should roll, I believe that some individuals should be asked to step down from their current positions. If this happened in the private sector people would be fired. I see that the FBI is investigating the suspected fraud at Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Bear Stearns and AIG... I believe this is the tip of the iceberg. Holding those responsible accountable will be the best determent against a repeat of this in the future.

The most frightening thing about this debacle is that according to what I have read we were basically 500 trades away from a 1929 meltdown of the financial markets. The dow could have dropped 8000 points. The infusion of the first 1.5 billion dollars by the government is what prevented it. The idea that we were so precipitously close to a 1929 style depression is downright frightening.

I am absolutely concerned at what looks like the socialization of our economic system, the selling off our free-market system. Like it or not we are flirting with socialism here. Capitalism is on trial here and it is losing badly... Recently Warren Buffet got on board with the bail-out...now he is a guy who if he says it is bad...you can pretty much take it to the bank...(if there is one left to go to). I think this is the 9/11 of the financial system and we are living in an extremely important time with regards to our financial future as a nation. It should be noted that as the nation goes so does its citizenry.

Can we really trust the government that this is all that we need to fix the problem. 700 billion dollars already represents $10,000.00 per family. I think we may be looking at 1 trillion dollars as a down payment...we may need two trillion to get out of this mess. Besides the burden on the tax payer, what does this short term fix mean for the long term? Over the long term this will further erode the value of the dollar. It will increase our national debt even more than it already is. Other countries will continue to lose confidence in our ability to pay back the debt...and the cycle of dollar erosion will continue to worsen. I believe a crash was eminent and we may have avoided it for the short term....however, by allowing the government to fund this bail-out we may have simply just bought into a slow kill of the economic system.

The thing we must all be aware of, once the government gets into something they never get out of it. There is no example of our government taking over anything and running it well. These bad mortgages are all over the world. You now have the UN calling for a unified monetary system...a single currency as a fix. Some politiicians are beginning to vocalize the one world government mantra as a fix...it is shades of CFR and the Biltenbergs.

Everybody is politicizing the debacle for their advantage...the institutions and individuals that caused the problem are being allowed to propose fixes and point their fingers at other entities...in order to call attention from themselves. Politicians like Barney Franks, Christopher Dodd and Nancy Pelosi are getting into the act. Nancy Pelosi recently said, "The party is over for the CEOs who have taken the route of the golden parachute." Meanwhile, as they shout and point they are loading up the bill with more pork to play to their constituencies...it is politics as usual even on the brink of financial disaster...it is out of control. This problem is not going to be a fast fix...it will take 2 years or more. The thought that this problem is still on Wall Street and hasn't as of yet affected those on Main Street is rat

re: #134 David Simon

So, if the Persian shiite is so concerned about the "Palestinian" sunni Arabs, why doesn't Larry ask him about their expulsion from Kuwait after Gulf War I?

fixed :-)
