My mother said that I never should
play with the naughty rude girls in the wood
their giggling talk I could never understand
and that's why I fell in love with my right hand...
and that's why..

I'm a wanker.
I'm a wanker.
And it does me good like it bloody well should
I'm a wanker.
I'm a wanker and I'm always pulling my pud.
Here, listen..

Oh, Mrs. Palm and her five lovely daughters
thank you for having me and being oh so kind
I've got pains in my arms and my dong is growing shorter
my knees have turned to water
and I think I'm going blind.

I've wanked over italy
I've wanked over spain.
i've wanked in an omnibus
I've even had a wank in a train
I've used a badger, and a melon, and a cat
An inflatable linda lovelace and a davy crockett hat..
and that's why...

(rpt chorus)

74 Who Watches the Watchmen?  Thu, Sep 25, 2008 11:55:10am

She was standing at the load-in
When the trucks rolled up
She was sniffing all around
Like a half grown female pup
She wasn’t hard to talk to
Looked like she had nowhere to go
So I gave her my pass
So she could get in and see the show

Well I sat her down right next to me
And I got her a beer
While I mixed that sound on stage
So the band could hear
The more I watched her watch them play
The less I could think of to say
And when they walked off stage
The drummer swept that girl away

But Rosie you’re all right -- you wear my ring
When you hold me tight -- Rosie that’s my thing
When you turn out the light -- I’ve got to hand it to me
Looks like it’s me and you again tonight Rosie

Well I guess I might have known from the start
She’d come for a star
Might have told my imagination not to run too far
Of all the times that I’ve been burned
By now you’d think I’d have learned
That it’s who you look like
Not who you are

But Rosie you’re all right -- you wear my ring
When you hold me tight -- Rosie that’s my thing
When you turn out the light -- I’ve got to hand it to me
Looks like it’s me and you again tonight Rosie

Nervous Motorist: I gotta make a call?
Otto Meyer: Yes, you gotta call Intelligence. Central Intelligence Agency, Washington D.C.
Nervous Motorist: Well what on earth...?
Otto Meyer: [shouts] Listen! All right, tell them you heard from X-27, you got it? X-27. X-27 told you to tell them they've made three attempts on my life already today. They had me down a silver mine, they tried to drown me. Can you handle a gun? Okay. Ah! Good. There's a cafe. Pull right in there, you use that phone.

Somewhat different scenario, and I am less than convinced that Clenis' DOJ did the right thing there. In the present case:

In at least one recent case, Apple appears to have denied approving a software program, Podcaster, for the iPhone, that could be considered competitive with the company’s own offerings or plans.

Sorry, what's the sin here, exactly? Apple didn't have to open the iPhone for ANY third-party programming. Why are they required to open it for products that will undercut their business plans? It's a business decision. It may be a good one or a bad one, but I don't see it as a basis for "hate".

I know I'm going to get flamed by some, but I've never found palm trees to be all that pretty. They're, IMHO, one of the uglier types of trees out there. I'm much more fond of pines and spruces.

I'm not going to flame you - pines are very beautiful, so are dawn redwoods.

My favourite trees are beech ... and oak ... and birch ...

I think that was one of the rumors floating out of the whole Astroturf gang. Also, in AK, bush pilots will always carry rifles and pistols in case they get stranded in part of the tract-less wilderness. If Palin were in a helicopter and saw a bunch of 'something' from the air, it would be logical to use the scope of the rifle to zoom in. I would have to have irrefutable proof that she was air hunting.

Obama released an ad that shows a wolf being shot by a person in a plane. The landscape is barren and snow-covered, and they indicate that the wolf has nowhere to hide, indicating somehow that hunting this way is unfair because the wolf doesn't have a sporting chance.

But there were no trees so it would likewise have no cover to the hunter on foot.

Then they show the shot in slow-mo, with blood splattering all over the snow, and tell us "the wolf dies in agony, biting at its back in pain." Yep, and I imagine the cows from whence came the leather in their Birkenstocks didn't die while doing the fandago either.

I'm not about to shed tears over a few wolves that died in pain. If I was magic, I'd make it painless if they're going to die anyway, but it would be waaay down my list of evils to do away with in this world.

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has taken her share of grief over her position on wolf management. For those who may not know, her team of respected wildlife scientists and game commission, implemented a plan that involves the reduction of wolf populations in a very limited number of specific areas where it has been determined that wolf populations are too high and they are decimating the moose and caribou.

There was a pre-existing program to cull wolf populations in Alaska to stop the wolves from killing all the other wildlife. When Palin became governor, she committed the unforgiveable sin of letting the program continue!

The way you hunt coyotes, well hunts not the right word, the way you run a coyote drive is have a line of vehicles and/or horses drive across a pasture and the plane's passenger shoots the coyote when flushed. I'm sure that works better on the llano than Alaskan Tundra but the principle might hold, flush the game for the person with the best shot.

Obama released an ad that shows a wolf being shot by a person in a plane. The landscape is barren and snow-covered, and they indicate that the wolf has nowhere to hide, indicating somehow that hunting this way is unfair because the wolf doesn't have a sporting chance.
.

Obama would rather have the wolves die en-masse of starvation in the natural boom/bust cycle that occurs when the populations aren't kept in check.

Or perhaps he'd rather have livestock (or heaven forbid) small children attacked by packs of predatory wolves looking for food.

Obama released an ad that shows a wolf being shot by a person in a plane. Then they show the shot in slow-mo, with blood splattering all over the snow, and tell us "the wolf dies in agony, biting at its back in pain."

I suspect and my impression is, is that the Veternary Society suspects that Hunters feel that they would already be under that obligation, that they would already be making these determinations, and that essentially adding a — an additional hunter or even a Vet to administer pain medication to the dying wolf, who the has to be called in an emergency situation to come in and make these assessments is really designed simply to burden the original decision of the hunter to shoot the wolf in the first place.

re: #342 buzzsawmonkey

Death is painful. Nature is red in tooth and claw, as anyone who survived an effort to pet a polar bear in the wild can probably attest.

Wolves are dangerous carnivores; in overlarge numbers, they are vermin, their resemblance to fluffy husky dogs notwithstanding.

Shooting wolves from planes is no different from calling the Orkin man to get rid of the bugs under the sink, except for the fact that wolves, properly lighted, can look like loyal Rex.

There is one difference of significance.
A pack of wolves can tear a human being to shreds.
Generally that doesn't happen with cockroaches.

Obama's newfound concern for Alaskan wild canine welfare is touching.
Fortunately, its clear that Obama cares about animals:

Obama responded that he cares about animal rights very much, "not only because I have a 9-year-old and 6-year-old who want a dog." He said he sponsored a bill to prevent horse slaughter in the Illinois state Senate and has been repeatedly endorsed by the Humane Society.

How apropos if that's what Charles had in mind when the pic was snapped? Given the behavior of the US Congress, Wall Street, the MSM, and the Campaigns these days while our economic future hangs in the balance, well, it does make you wonder!

If so - Obama is currently playing Phil Silvers' role as the conniving, unscrupulous Otto Meyer , while Mac leads as Spencer Tracy's Capt. Culpepper, who watched the greed driven madness of the mob with cool detachment - until the finish. But this ain't fiction these days.

Nothwithstanding the fact that wolves get a bad rap, the fact is they're carnivorous predators, and there is a reason why their populations are controlled everywhere they exist. While they don't often attack humans, it does happen, and wolves are notoriously aggressive towards livestock.

He does have some credibility in this area, actually; read the rest of the article.

But either he doesn't know anything about animal populations (likely considering he's probaby never stepped foot in a forest in his life), or he's simply continuing his series of distortions.

Palin has a pretty strong counter-argument here, should she care enough to use it.

Namely that there have been a growing series of attacks by wolves against human beings in Alaska, including against children, women, and pet dogs (the latter as a shot to the head for stupid PETA types).

John McCain,

So, now you guys have the 700 billion.

Now how about some common sense. The over supply of new homes that caused a large part of the home price slippage...?
Stop the national large home builders and all the local area home builders from using the "illegal Mexican wage slaves" to build them with illegal wage slaves so cheap the existing homes we Americans now own and have mortgages on , CAN NOT COMPETE with them price wise when we need to sell or refinance.

You guys in the congress if you do put COUNTRY FIRST, will do so,
Mexicans are not of our Country, and should not come FIRST.

The simple things seem to escape you guys when the re-election money flows to you from home builders, lenders and real estate people who are the ones sending in the big checks.

ITS NOT JUST ABOUT THE DAM MONEY.

Yours True,

taxfreekiler

ps
We will be with you every step of the way, you and Sarah can go down in History as the two who saved America, or you can go down in History as the two who would not do the right thing when you had every chance. You know we can be counted on when the going gets tough. We will not back down.

Meanwhile Canada's Cuddly Fascists have struck again:

Breaking: CHRC complaint against B’nai Brith

The complaint filed against Ken McVay, Nizkor and B’nai Brith stems from several postings found on the B’Nai Brith cooperation affiliated website (Nizkor) which are extremely vile and contemptuous to predominantly blacks, homosexuals and Jews. However, the point the complaint fails to notice is that the Nizkor Project is involved in refuting Nazi revisionists & that these vile comments were posted in articles as quotations of the revisionists being refuted.

re: #533 Joshua Godinez

I wonder if McCain is spinning this opportunity so that he doesn't have to win the debate on Friday. Hey, he was working on the bailout and didn't have time to prepare unlike Obama that everyone says is a better speaker anyways and still needed 3 days. Of course, McCain will have some gaffes. Then he does fine, comparatively, and comes out smelling like a rose.

I agree. I think it is in part to upset the tempo. Like when you step out of the batter's box to throw off the pitcher who is trying to quick pitch you. Obama has been cramming. McCain is not going to cram. He speaks from his heart for good or for ill. But the tweaking will no doubt annoy Barakus.

CanadianMuslim guilty in plot to behead prime minister

BRAMPTON, Ontario (AP) — A Canadian man accused of participating in military exercises and firearms training as part of a group authorities say plotted to storm Parliament and behead the prime minister was found guilty Thursday.

The man's attorney says the plot was a "jihadi fantasy" and that his client knew nothing about it.

A judge ruled Thursday that evidence of a terrorist group was "overwhelming." The man is the first person to be found guilty of a terrorist offense in Canada since the country enacted anti-terrorism laws in 2001.

The arrests of the 18 group members, known as the "Toronto 18," made headlines around the world and heightened fears in Canada, where people believe they are relatively immune from terrorist strikes.

I've got 30% in T-Bonds, 30% in government owned corporations and the rest in LA crack houses. I'm thinking of buying up some Kentucky grass patches...

Locally the crack houses did not appreciate like they did in suburban and other areas that people really want to live in.

Hence why the lowest income people who bought houses, did not enjoy the increase in values that everyone else did. So crack houses are not a good investment, unless you are selling said narcotic.

Didn't Bush summon the Obama to the White house? Did he go? And for whatever it's worth, the Obama lost valuable practice time having to make statements and joint statements to keep pace with McCain. Real good move on McCain's part, considering the polls moved in his favor this week.

I am not sure the polls are the result of this recent development because they were no doubt taken before the invitation. I have to say I am really pleasantly surprised with the Zogby poll. I was having a melt down last night because I was not sure (still not sure) I like this spending package. And the polls were on the decline for McCain/Palin.

I have to tell you though that I think I am really getting frustrated over the sheer avalanche of bias. I knew it was coming but it has reached critical mass. I love my country but hijacking of the MSM is a national embarassment.

True story: My son in law got laid off a month or so ago when the company he worked for laid off everyone in his position across the board. So, this year he had to forego his sports package from DirectTV as an economy measure. A couple of weeks ago they called him to find out why he hadn't renewed, so he told them that he wasn't going to sign up this year because of that lay off. "Oh, we can take care of that for you this year" they say - and gave him the sports package. I can't begin to tell you how delighted he is - and it is so nice to know that there are companies out there that do value their long time customers.

"I don't know you've ever ventured into the subterranean underworld that is LGF's comments section, but it's sort of like a disorganized Nuremberg Rally, a lot of angry ruffians with nowhere to go lacking something better to do." James Wolcott

Man, he nailed it. Do my fellow ruffians agree?

/Ruffians, spoken with a Frazier Craine pompous accent.

I don't think so.

That's the sort of thing one should expect from those who show a persistent aversion to the process of non-contradictory identification.

Granted we can be angry at times, but it's not because we are ruffians but because of those who properly fit the description of a ruffian. And the praise "disorganized Nuremberg Rally" is so utterly self-contradictory as to be an example of absolute gibberish. The basic point of a Nuremberg Rally was to show everyone that the NSDAP was capable of iron discipline in obedience to the will of the leader. Of at least give the appearance of such.

And someone should remind Mr. Wolcott that the NSDAP was a SOCIALIST party. A lot of folks in here have clearly shown little if any sympathy for Socialism.

Jeez... If I wasn't unemployed I'd pitch in to pay for a free lesson in Tae Kwon Leep for Mr. Wolcott. Maybe that will wake him up.

(For a moment I was about to suggest that he'd be strapped down and given a "Clockwork Orange" viewing of TRIUMPH OF THE WILL. but it's been my personal experience that this film is an effective treatment for insomnia.)

Excerpts are below:

"After this order, signal lights all were switched on, various data show up on rows of screens, hundreds of technicians staring at the screens, without missing any slightest changes ...

'One minute to go!'

'Changjiang No.1 found the target!'...

"The firm voice of the controller broke the silence of the whole ship. Now, the target is captured 12 seconds ahead of the predicted time ...

'The air pressure in the cabin is normal!'

"Ten minutes later, the ship disappears below the horizon. Warm clapping and excited cheering breaks the night sky, echoing across the silent Pacific Ocean."

re: #711 galloping granny

True story: My son in law got laid off a month or so ago when the company he worked for laid off everyone in his position across the board. So, this year he had to forego his sports package from DirectTV as an economy measure. A couple of weeks ago they called him to find out why he hadn't renewed, so he told them that he wasn't going to sign up this year because of that lay off. "Oh, we can take care of that for you this year" they say - and gave him the sports package. I can't begin to tell you how delighted he is - and it is so nice to know that there are companies out there that do value their long time customers.

I had to call up my credit card company thru my credit union a few days ago to inquire about a charge that had cropped up. After that was cleared up, the girl told me about a deal where they would take balances from other cards at a reduced rate as part of a promotion. When I told her I wasn't interested since I only had the one card, she asked me to wait a minute. When she came back, she told me she had gotten authorization to reduce my interest rate 2%.

Because Barry is clearly a cat guy.

Hardly. I'd call him a snake or lizard type of guy, but not a cat person by any means.

Barry is too cold to be a cat person, IMHO. And anyway, having a cat would mean a similar responsibility as having a dog. The responsibilities are different: instead of taking the animal outside, you have to clean the litterbox and change the litterbox; feeding times; make sure the animal has fresh water; spay or neuter the animal; make sure the animal gets enough attention; don't abuse the animal. In addition, for a cat, you have to either declaw the animal or get a scratching post of some kind.

Nice thing about a cat is that they are small enough to be kept 100% indoors as they use a litterbox. But they still require work and can teach responsibility.

Israel on high alert for mass-casualty strikes

TEL AVIV — Israel's military has been placed on high alert following an airline bomb scare and reports of other threats.

Officials said the intelligence community has warned of an imminent attack by either Al Qaida or Hizbullah against Israel. They said the Islamic insurgency could be planning the hijacking of an Israeli passenger jet that would then be crashed into an Israeli residential area.

"There is an assessment that something very bad will take place over the next few weeks, perhaps over the Jewish holidays," an official said.

Remember that Bob Marley (who was the illegitimate son of a Scots engineer) unknowingly had skin cancer.

When you are caucasian, even partly, you should slather that sunblock by the bushel. My favourite is Fallene's. I am fair, too.

Even if you aren't at least part caucasian, you should use some sort of sunblock. Sunburn tends to show up better on people with light skin, but those with dark skin can be just as susceptible to sunburn and skin cancer.

EXCERPTS FROM THE CAT'S DAILY DIARY:

Day 283 Of My Captivity.
My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while I am forced to eat dry cereal. The only thing that keeps me going is the hope of escape, and the mild satisfaction I get from ruining the occasional piece of furniture.

Tomorrow I may eat another houseplant. Today my attempt to kill my captors by weaving around their feet while they were walking almost succeeded; must try this at the top of the stairs. In an attempt to disgust and repulse these vile oppressors, I once again induced myself to vomit on their favorite chair; must try this on their bed. Decapitated a mouse and brought them the headless body, in attempt to make them aware of what I am capable of, and to try to strike fear into their hearts. They only cooed and condescended about what a good little cat I was. Hmmm, not working according to plan.

There was some sort of gathering of their accomplices. I was placed in solitary throughout the event. However, I could hear the noise and smell the food. More importantly I overheard that my confinement was due to MY power of "allergies." Must learn what this is and how to use it to my advantage. I am convinced the other captives are flunkies and maybe snitches. The dog is routinely released and seems more than happy to return. He is obviously a half-wit. The bird on the other hand has got to be an informant, and speaks with them regularly. I am certain he reports my every move. Due to his current placement in the metal room, his safety is assured. But I can wait, it is only a matter of time...

Via Instapundit, the Edmonton Sun's "Why Obama will lose" (scathing!):

What is Barack Obama for? His campaign motto is “change.” But even a 6-year-old child understands that “change” can be either good or bad. Lacking specifics, the invocation of “change” as policy is completely empty. As we witness Obama’s minions mindlessly endorse the meaningless maxim of “change,” it only can call to mind the barnyard animals in George Orwell’s “Animal Farm” chanting “four legs good, two legs bad!”

Obama declared he was taking three days to go to Fla to prepare
McCain never said a word about the debate (even before he stated he was going to DC) (I doubt he has to be 'prepped" for the debate, save a one liner here or there)

McCain forced Obama to get his ass back to Washington (image is everything) regardless of Camp Obama yelping about multi-tasking

Obama ends up NOT spending three days in debate prep
