Tech Note: An Unblocking Experiment

Science | Mon, Sep 29, 2008 at 7:56:21 pm PDT

Just to see what happens, we’ve deleted a bunch of the IP blocking rules from our .htaccess file tonight. Since most bloggers don’t watch for (and block) robots and spammers as diligently as Stinky Beaumont does, I suspect we’ve been artificially deflating our traffic numbers in comparison to other blogs. And sure enough, we’re showing nearly 5,000 visitors online right now—much higher than normal for this time.

  • Obscene, abusive, silly, or annoying remarks may be deleted, but the fact that particular comments remain on the site in no way constitutes an endorsement of their views by Little Green Footballs.
  • Posts that contain phone numbers, street addresses, email addresses or other personal information will also be deleted, as will posts that consist only of a variation on the word, "First!"
  • Comments that advocate violence will be cause for immediate banning with no appeal.
  • Disagreement and debate are welcome, but insults and abuse are not, and may cause your account to be blocked.

No -- I'm saying that most web sites probably don't block these robots like we do, so their traffic numbers include a LOT of hits from bots and web crawlers.

Walter! How'd the show go?

Ah, it's going fine. Attendence is a little down, at least out of the starting gate. Have no idea why. The smaller critics have already attended opening weekend, their review very positive. The Denver Post critic was there last night (Sunday), so we will see a review sometime this week.

And we had a special feature article come out in both the Denver Post and the Rocky Mountain News about or male lead who is joing the army 3 days after the show closes. Interesting story since he is playing the lead in an anti-war play.

We have 4 more weeks to go on this show. Most of our shows run 6 weeks, Xmas show runs 7 weeks, early Nov. to right before Xmas.

I've blocked most everything with IP addresses above 203.xxx... on my 'private' stuff.
I discovered those class C addresses come from 'unregistered' networks that seem to originate somewhere in Indonesia.
If it's the private 192.168.xxx.yyy it needs to be "my" xxx.

House members rejected bailout because voters back home hated it

Actually- to be fair- this isn't too bad of a piece:

The 228 votes against the plan included 95 Democrats and 133 Republicans, a mix of conservatives, liberals and members in tough re-election fights.

Conservatives saw too much government interference in free markets and too high a price tag; liberals thought it provided too much help for Wall Street and not enough for distressed homeowners.

"There's a real sense of frustration. People see their tax dollars spent bailing out financial institutions, and they themselves are not doing well," said Rep. Elijah Cummings , D- Md. , who represents a predominantly black Baltimore district. He voted no.

From the opposite end of the political spectrum came conservatives such as Rep. Jeb Hensarling , R- Texas .

"This Congress , in a rushed effort to provide stability to a troubled credit market, did not adequately discuss or investigate potential alternatives that would have constituted a workout and not a bailout," he said.

Hensarling, Cummings and lots of others had pleaded with their leaders to give them a bill they could explain easily back home. Constituents wanted Congress to act, they said, but were suspicious of what they might do.

Instead, many members found the compromise that emerged to be too complex, fueling constituents' qualms.

It's really disingenuous of pelosi and other's to paint this as the republican's fault. Nobody really liked this bill. But at least this article tried to bring some balance to the reporting.

56 unclassifiable  Mon, Sep 29, 2008 8:26:18pm

I just heard Pelosi's post-defeat rant.

This is the most befuddling thing I have heard. She could have said that the people have spoken. She may have said that they needed to stay there despite the Jewish New Year (no offense meant) and find an acceptable solution. Instead she gives her party every reason NOT to vote for it -- after the vote happened.

Did I miss something or is the most inconsistent line of reasoning and strategy ever exhibited on the floor of Congress?

We have had Senators try and beat each other with canes (literally) and it probably made more sense than this.

People cheer when CNN or NBC run another Palin-mocking but raising any reasonable inquiry into obama is derided or flat out ignored. The fix is in, and its working." One of the very bad sections in the bailout bill was section 103, which allowed the Treasury Sec the power to not only buy mortgage related paper, but also bail out cities and counties whose budgets are a mess because of pension obligations, and also union or other pensions that may be in trouble. Yes, but the Dems are playing pure politic here and this is all meant to make the Repubs look bad.

They craft a bill that even Nancy appears happy with.

Obama says he's for it.

The Dems made sure it was defeated, they had the numbers, some held back and voted no to help Repubs look bad.

Then last step, blame it all on the Repubs. Keep shouting we were for it, Obama was for it, 2/3 Repubs voted no.

90 Chip Designer  Mon, Sep 29, 2008 8:45:34pm

Here is a fix for the current credit crunch that doesn't cost anything.

Institutions are afraid of mortgage backed securities because no one knows what they are worth. Is it a 300k mortgage on a now 200k house? Or a 400k house? The unknown is the problem.

Why not grade mortgages on the credit score of the homeowners? A high credit score mortgage holder is likely to continue servicing their mortgage even if the value of their home has decreased. A low scoring homeowner is likely to default even if there is equity in the home.

Within a few weeks, a true value of the mortgages could be known. And that would make these securities more liquid.

A weekly post that have the question/comment/opinion of a user and Charles response. But only those he chose to respond to. Can't be too hard to put together. I think all of us miss Charles thoughts and this sites reasoning because we don't hear the argument behind it. Only the first opinion. I believe this would be a great addition.

I simply could not believe Pelosi's gall today.

The President, Senator McCain, and the house and senate Republicans went out of their way not to point out that this crisis is essentially the dem's fault in the interests of getting a decent bill out.

Pelosi was on the point of having an agreement, and she says "Oh, by the way, voting for this agreement is a judgment on 8 years of failed Republican policies." She simply couldn't restrain her partisan rage.

McCain will not go hardcore on this. He's just too much into the Senate collegiality thing. Where are the 527s?

Great short read!

snip:

Pelosi screwed up royally. She is the Democratic Tom DeLay. Newt Gingrich was an ideologue, but Tom DeLay was simply a partisan, most keenly interested in maximizing his party's political power. Pelosi cut a deal in which, as far as I can tell, every single Republican in a safe seat had to vote yes so that the Democrats could maximize their no votes. Given that the Republican caucus is pretty much in open revolt, this was beyond moronic. She then spent a week openly and repeatedly blaming the Republicans and the Bush administration for the current crisis. The way she set things up, it was "Heads I win, tails you lose": vote for the deal and I'll paint you as heartless reactionaries bailing out your fat cat friends. If you're going to do that, you'd better make sure you have some goddamn margin for error in your own party. She didn't. Then she got up and delivered yet another speech blaming the Republicans for the bailout deal she was about to pass.

re: #57 Typicalwhitey

Ya gotta be kidding me!

Aides to Mr. Obama said he had not directly reached out to try to sway any House Democrats who opposed the measure

He made NO CALLS to the Dems to persuade them to vote yes on this and yet he says it should be passed.

Obama agreed to "common principles" with McCain, and expressed hope publicly that "a measure could be passed." But in no way, shape or fashion did he ever say he was for this bill. He knew it was going down already, it was a preordained circus fight. This was to ensure that he was not on the wrong side of the issue when the final tally came down.

The dems were going to sink this no matter what the GOP vote was. 21% of the entire membership of the House both voted against the measure, and just happened to be members of the majority party.

It's not hard to see the linkages and numbers, and crunch the math.

Thank Speaker Bela Lugosi for the charade partisan attack speech to announce the bill, which was designed to set up Barney Fife for the laugh-a-minute faux sarcasm about the GOP "failure" to muster the vote that "they said they would bring".

And I ate a dodo bird for breakfast today.

Another exciting feature of the recently deceased plan (per Andrew McCarthy)
"The plan has no restrictions on buying up assets from foreign banks – banks who aren’t active lenders in U.S. markets directly and whose leverage is far greater (40x) than even American traditional investment banks (25x), whose leverage is greater than American commercial banks (10-15x).
Moreover, many of these foreign banks are currently being or are soon to be nationalized. Therefore, the US government would be buying toxic assets at above market prices to support foreign governments."

That was already done in the "tranches" of the mortgage backed securities. Then the bottom tranch -- the sub-prime/sub-A mortgages -- were "rebranded" as CDOs (sorry forgot the exact name of that derivative -- I think it is Credit Derivative Options) AND regraded.

I read all of this and I will try to find the link. Basically this is a problem with transparency. No one really knows how to value these derivatives -- especially given that a large part of the CDOs are comprised of ARMs (adjustible rate mortgages).

I owe you links. Later.

Yea, I know. But it what doesn't make sense to me is why Nancy would get up this morning, pre-vote, and trash the Repubs like she did if she really wanted this bill passed?

Right at that point, she was setting something up. Usually speakers of the house do not bring something to vote unless they have a good idea if it's going to either pass or fail. And it's evident that the Dems were touting their horns that this was going to pass. And Obama chimed in too.

And then it goes down. Even though the Dems themself could have passed it lock, stock and barrell on their own.

Doesn't add up to me, especially starting the day with that really partisan speech. She was setting us up for something at that point.

169 lifeofthemind  Mon, Sep 29, 2008 9:06:33pm

The Republicans have to offer some straight talk. Here is a script proposal.

This financial panic was not largely caused by deregulation. A few good regulations, such as the "uptick rule" and other controls to prevent abusive short selling should be restored. This panic was caused by bad regulations, beginning with the Community Reinvestment Act that forced banks to offer loans to unqualified buyers and then sell those sub-prime loans to other institutions. Once the buyers of those homes began to default on their mortgages it created a cascade of bad debt that has swept through the entire system. Banks that did not participate in these risky practices were threatened by Congress members and the very agencies, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac that had been created to keep the industry operating smoothly and safely. Senior officers of those agencies collected millions of dollars due to what may have been fraud while concealing the growing insolvency. Therefore any program to restore liquidity to the economy, which is essential so that businesses can hire and ship and qualified buyers can buy the homes that are now more reasonably priced, must include the repeal of those laws and regulations that created this disaster.

In addition no business or agency should be considered "To big to fail." That would open the public treasury to blackmail by every large and inefficient business competing against clever but smaller new firms. It would stifle the entrepreneurship that renews America. Any large firm facing such a crisis should have an opportunity under the bankruptcy laws to reorganize as smaller units with a better chance of surviving. If a firm is a threat to the overall safety of the nation due to its size and possible weakness then the government might need a procedure to order the firm divided, as we have done in other cases with Anti-trust law. As part of the recovery from this crisis we will propose that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac be divided into 12 smaller units. Each will be tied to operate within a Federal Reserve district and operate under the eye of the local Federal Reserve Bank to promote the health of the economy in its assigned region.

This is not a sign of a fundamental weakness in the American economy. We are facing a largely self inflicted wound caused by bad politics and greed. We can fix this and permit the American people to continue to create new industries and build new wealth. Other real concerns that can affect our future prosperity, such as dependence on foreign oil, will have to be dealt with. We will work on that. We will also lay out a policy to expand and restore the global reach and flexibility of our Armed Forces. That will include a significant expansion of industrial activity that will stimulate the economy. For now be assured that this crisis, while serious, can be surmounted.

Every minute that confidence is not restored, we are losing 100's of thousands of dollars of capital --enough to pay for the bail-out over and over.

--chanelling 3-wood.

We lost a trillion dollars, give or take a billion, of capital in the market today. Multiply that by a factor of 10 to get the Multiplier Effect to the economy.

We will likely loose another trillion tommorow. The Nikkei is down over 500 right now overseas. I figure the Dow will drop 500 to 600 tomorrow.

To save 700 billion.

Could you just shut up, just shut the fuck up?
I am sick to fucking death of your negativity.
If you don't want to help stop Obama can you just stop trying to kill the rest of our enthusiasm?

I have spent the last two days trying to stop Obama's "goon squads" in Missouri and I am about at the end of my rope!
You have no idea what McCain is doing behind closed doors.
You have no idea what he is doing to shape a new bill or improve the old one.
You are calling someone I have met, someone who I look up to and consider a hero, someone who had tears in their eyes when I told him of my nephew, a fucking coward!
No more!

Hey, I do not know you but that was a very impassioned reply. We who are McCain/Palin supporters understand your passion and, well, I am with you. Remember, McCan has been counted out before. This is far, far from over. Palin is going to do very well Thursday and I believe the American People will ultimately see through the MSM charade.

Let not your heart be troubled, McCain will win and it you will be surprised how much support he has.

Please remember history, When Bush beat Kerry, the polls were moving for Kerry up until the election and even then, the MSM got it wrong in after voting interview talleys. The same will happen here. Most people will not admit that they support McCain because it is not appropriate to say that in many parts of the country, But - they do!

I feel the pain of theMSM's bias that we all experience. The Fix is in. But our secret weapon is the American People, which still support a candidate like Johnny Mac and not BHO. Try to have Faith.

214 Abu Al-Poopypants  Mon, Sep 29, 2008 9:16:56pm

On September 15th, McCain said: "The fundamentals of our economy are strong."

The Democrats and the MSM (but I repeat myself) felt this to be so ridiculous that the Obama campaign rushed out an ad referencing this tatement, saying: "How can John McCain fix our economy if he doesn't understand it's broken?"

Today--the same day that we went through the biggest single day Dow Jones Industrial Avg. point drop ever--the Manchurian Community Organizer uttered the following:

"And then... after... this immediate...
problem... we've got the long-term
fundamentals that will really make
sure that this economy grows."

Aside from the fact that it sounded as though his teleprompter was having trouble buffering the Speech-O-Matic data stream from Astroturfer-in-Chief David Axelrod's secret underground lair.... HUH?

Is this yet another instance of "You're right, John" that we saw over & over again on Friday night?

Interesting article...

"Banking crash hits Europe as ECB loses traction"

Here is the interesting part:

Data from the IMF shows that European banks hold 75pc as much exposure to toxic US housing debt as US banks themselves. Moreover they have mounting bad debts from the British, Spanish, French, Dutch, Scandinavian, and East European housing markets, where property bubbles reached even more extreme levels that in the US.

So, not only are the European banks in trouble because of the US housing bubble... Europe had a big bubble of their own! Bigger than ours!

So, if the answer to our problems are more government regulation, as per the Dems, why didn't more regulation save Europe from a housing bubble? We are constantly told our economy is "too uncontrolled", we need to "rein it in" like the Europeans.

How is it that their problem is bigger than ours? Why did they allow the "self verified" loans to run out of control in their socialist paradise?

Could it be that politicians saw the spread of home ownership down the economic scale as an irresistible goody to give to the people... one they could "give us" without increasing taxes?

It was a no-cost-to-government social welfare program... one adopted around the globe by pandering politicians. I guess Wall Street wasn't the only ones consumed by shortsighted greed.

My best friend just sent me this:

RETIREMENT PLAN INVESTMENT TIP. . .

If you had purchased $1000.00 of Nortel stock one year ago,
it would now be worth $49.00.
With Enron, you would have $16.50 left of the original $1000.
With WorldCom, you would have less than $5.00 left.
If you had purchased $1,000.00 of Delta Air Lines stock you
would have $49.00 left.
If you had purchased United Airlines, you would have nothing left.

But, if you had purchased $1,000.00 worth of beer one year
ago, drank all the beer, then turned in the cans for the
aluminum recycling refund you would have $214.00.

Based on the above, the best current investment advice is
to drink heavily and recycle.

This is called the 401-Keg Plan!

I get frustrated with the people who want a concrete cure for the problem, when much of the problem is "emotionally" driven. I don't have any answers, but at this point, something that even minorly restores confidence is needed.

I put up a list on the tread below of things that we can still do to soften the train wreck without Congress. To repeat:

1. Tomorrow morning SEC head Cox needs to waive the mark to market rule before the market opens. That would free up hundreds of billions in capital.

2. The SEC needs to reinstate the "uptick" rule for short sales.

3. The FDIC needs to raise the insurance to $1 million or $2 million on deposits. This would stop the run on the banks.

4. Paulson needs to start drafting an insurance plan (which won't work well but will get passed) and drop the buy-out plan (which would have worked pretty well but will never get passed). The world needs to see Congress actually do something on this but point fingers and blame each other.

Totally agree: when a young adult goes out to make his way in the world, and makes serious errors in judgment, and bad decisions, he is young and able to learn and regroup.
Many of us dont have the luxury of youth: we have already learned these lessons, but the politicos, can i call them *nouveau riche*?, who have gorged on the funds made available by public trust in them as legislators (among others), are discovering that we, the adults here, know that the only cure for errors in judgment is CONSEQUENCE.

re: #238 stevieray

So, not only are the European banks in trouble because of the US housing bubble... Europe had a big bubble of their own! Bigger than ours!

So, if the answer to our problems are more government regulation, as per the Dems, why didn't more regulation save Europe from a housing bubble? We are constantly told our economy is "too uncontrolled", we need to "rein it in" like the Europeans.

How is it that their problem is bigger than ours? Why did they allow the "self verified" loans to run out of control in their socialist paradise?

We are actually way ahead of the curve in recognizing the problem and trying to do something.

We will come out of this, once we stop screwing around, much faster than Europe will.

3. The FDIC needs to raise the insurance to $1 million or $2 million on deposits. This would stop the run on the banks.

That is an important, but overlooked point. As banks merge, some people with large amounts of savings find themselves "merged" out of full coverage.

The boat will rock and the sea will churn but in the end all will be well. There are too many persons looking at the problem for it not to be solved, albeit, shabbily. As for McCain, it is time "my friends" for a little straight talk. Let us now begin to hear of Mr. Wright, Ayers, Pflegler, and yes, Mr. Raines & Co.

It is time John for the roosters to come home to roost. The MSM will not get your message out - you must do it.

Please remember history, When Bush beat Kerry, the polls were moving for Kerry up until the election and even then, the MSM got it wrong in after voting interview talleys. The same will happen here. Most people will not admit that they support McCain because it is not appropriate to say that in many parts of the country, But - they do!

So you're positing that there may be a double Bradley effect in the offing on Nov 4th. Not only do people avoid telling pollsters they don't support His Zeroness for fear of being considered racist, they also don't want to say they support McCain for fear of being considered stupid. My advice, forget about the election and listen to some good music.

Frak you, mutherfrakker! This election is one of the most important ones we will ever have!

Now, clearly we shouldn't pay so much attention to it that it becomes a monomania, but we cannot ignore it altogether either. Follow it with moderation. Keep an eye on it. Just don't pay so much attention to it that it drives you to insanity.

And yes, listen to some music when this stuff really gets to you. But don't drown out the world with music, or you'll be caught be surprise.... and be thought a fool. Deservedly.

re: #254 Wishing
You know, if we could make the effin' Congresscritters go without THEIR paychecks and have to lay off THEIR staffs, maybe, just maybe, some of 'em would wake up and smell the dying roses.
And yes, I am serious - most businesses, especially small to mid-size businesses, have to have lines of credit with one (or more) banks because they do work in August and won't get paid for it until October - so to cover their payroll, rent and utility bills, until their August invoices get paid, they borrow off the line(s) of credit and repay it when those August bills are paid in September. But right now banks have NO CASH TO LEND - so the lines of credit won't be available. Indeed, some credit card companies may start canceling credit cards to folks who've never even been late with a payment, because these companies (mostly owned by banks or bank subsidiaries - check and see if your VISA or MasterCard says "Chase" or "Citibank" on it ) and they won't have the money to pay for your charges either.
That Nancy Pelosi (D-Stupid) made an incredibly partisan speech blaming Republicans for everything RIGHT BEFORE SHE NEEDED THEIR VOTES and couldn't even get one-third of her own party to vote for the bill is absolutely shameful.
BTW, did I ever mention out here how much I hate politicians?

would that be something I could interest you in?
/Channeling entourage..
I didn't get a chance to tell you what a great job you did last month with documenting the effects of the convention in your hometown.

Glad you enjoyed the photo essay.

Ball game and strip clubs. Well, back in Houston, my boss, who no one really like, had season passes to the Astros. So, when they had a afternoon game at home, he couldn't get anyone in the office to hang with him. So, I got "forced" to go. I hate baseball. He had a Jag, he'd get juiced up at lunch before the game, drive too fast on Houston highways and spend a crapload of money on the both of us during the game.

Then on the way home he would hit up one of the upscale gentalmans clubs in Houston.

Hey, I like a good looking woman as much as the next guy, but I get NO thrills from having a half naked woman, oress here body parts into my face and sit on my lap WHEN I CAN"T TOUCH. Well, more than touch.

ANd then we would head home, him too drunk to be driving at 110 miles per hour, around those LARGE crossovers that are popular in Texas.

Fun, Hmmmm, I'm not sure.

re: #129 ggt

re: #90 Chip Designer

Here is a pictorial explanation.

ggt I think this is far beyond any help a tax write off could offer.

This is not really a perfect storm but it is a curious set of circumstances that allowed it to happen.

Several post-vote ideas that I am beginning to knock around are:

1) Since most of the issues are in the banking sector, I think the FDIC should be the main organization to handle any recovery. They will not be able to find an enough Citicorps and Chases to bail out all of the WAMUs and Wachovias. But they should be given the opportunity to bail out as many as they have got funding for -- and maybe that is what the bailout should initially concentrate on. This is only a short term situation. The FDIC already has a standing organization and rules of operation so it has a head start on anything built out of thin air (like the bail out plan).
2) Given #1 it appears that the FDIC may need more than its current authorized rules of operation and remedies in order to augment its mission. Anything in this sphere should be sunsetted and reviewed -- probably on a yearly basis at the very least.
3) For those businesses that fall outside of this sphere, the issues are more complex and need a longer term solution. Basically as I said several days ago, the sensitivity to credit markets is due to several factors governing the organization of a companies finances. Tricky stuff here. Let me say that it seems to me that two regs that may need to come into play to address this: First the general rules of incorporation may need to change as in being unified nationally. Second, regulatory oversight that may go far beyond Sarbanes-Oxley to even cover the structure of a company's finances (i.e. require non-banking entities of a certain size and or scope to maintain formulated cash reserves).

This is a lot for my pea-brain to even think about at this late hour. I hope the link above helps to explain it. Others may have even batter ones.

He wasn't Nostradamus, he was being paid by a left-wing nut to give an anti-war speech, and he did was he always did ... told people what he thought they wanted to hear. Does anyone remember 2002? Desert, I honestly don't know. I am usually one of the most pessimistic people in the world so it is hard for me to get too cocky. I will say this.....I can't help but think the American people will see Obama for what he is. ..An inexperienced, empty suit, who has no right to be President. I know it's hard when all the polls seem to be saying otherwise. Just my gut feeling.

I got Country Wide calling me with operators in India and the Phillipines. I just love those exotic accents!

Not me. Those exotic accents are the pits if they're in customer or technical support. I always ask for someone who can speak English, right off the bat.

re: #377 Irene NYC

Seems that even though people are acquainted with the term "irrational exuberance" they aren't as well acquainted with it's opposite "irrational dispiritedness" - but they will be now.

Basically, once the mind set of "we're headed into a depression" takes hold, people begin to act that way and the spiral continues downward.

Our government had a chance to turn this around, not once, but twice, and didn't. And now they've decided to take a holiday.

The fact that our Congress didn't cancel this vacation is beyond troubling. It indicates that they are unfit to rule.

It's like watching a train wreck in slow motion.

If my company was teetering on the edge of ruin, I would cancel a 2-week trip to the Bahama's to straighten things out.

I hope you're right...I really do.

I'm gonna say a prayer for Sarah, because she really needs to give a great performance Thursday. I have faith in her. I don't have faith in how the MSM will spin it.

Sarah can't do well in the McCain box she's in. If she has the courage to break out of it and just be herself, she'll do well. Otherwise, it will be another Couric-type disaster/embarrassment.

Realwest, Thank you. I got your email. I put it in a special file and will answer tomorrow. I can't go in any room without feeling the loss of Meg. I've cried all day. I worry about what I'm going to do tomorrow morning when I should be taking her for a walk.

First off, I hate McCain. Always have. Second, I'm never, EVER going to campaign for someone I hate. Now if it had been Romney, different deal. I'm sorely disgusted that the GOP nominated the old fool instead of Romney who would rip Obama to shreds in any debate.

whao whao.. I'm going to report you to the candian human rights commision for your hate speech..' i hate mccain' i believe should get you quite a fine/prison time..
And after the Europeans get done with you...Are you a grandpa yet..just wondering..
Now if you lived in America you would be free to say that..

re: #350 DesertSage

Try this.

Vote your conscience.

Don't worry about voting for a winner.

This country is allowed a revolution at the polls every 2 years.

IF Obama is elected AND IF he screws up badly enough (and I think I can safely deduce that he will for all the reasons presented by the lizardoid army) he may very well face a Republican dominated House and Senate. A stalemate may ensue but a stand-off is better than regression into a Soviet-style communism.

On the other hand, the damage to the Supreme Court and several other appointment positions (the Fed) could be long term.

Bedtime lizards. Y'all take care.

And remember the polls had algore and joncarey up at this time.

re: #278 EIDE_Interface

BTW, the reason you get upset is not because I'm a moby. But because you know I'm a real conservative and that I know this election is lost. So when you see someone like me give up, it's disheartening. However, I'm not a quitter in my personal life. When things got bad at work last year, I stuck it out until the bad management was fired. My patience was rewarded. But I have no faith in the political system to ever produce a good result.

EIDE, What direction is that bipolar train going tonight you are riding on? You may be a nice guy but what woman would want you for a boyfriend or husband. You are a quitter. Life gets tough and you just go on. Why not keep fighting? What else do you have to do? Stay in your condo and whine? The Obama campaign loves people like you. For every one of you who brings in doom it spreads to someone else who may be reading this blog. Stop it!

It would not be legal in Pennsylvania, and no officer or detective I know would enforce such nonsense. Not to mention the despicable waste of taxpayer money that it would entail. A district attorney is supposed to prosecute crimes, not be a fact checker for a corrupt Chicago thug.

They are doing this in Missouri.

Fear not, honey. 90% of the PPD and PFD hates the guts of most of the folks on this list.

Ed Rendell balanced the city budget as mayor by cutting our salaries (PPD and PFD) by $7,000.

Under Michael Nutter's watch, we've had five police officers murdered in two years. Yet he refuses to hire more officers.

Chaka Fattah is a Mumis abu Jamal supporter.

Bob Brady is the most corrupt Democrat in the stats.

Schwartz and Murphy are no friend of the police, and Lynne Abraham is more concerned with her "legacy" than keeping cop-killers in prison.

They can do what they want. We will not follow.
