I think the problem is exactly the opposite.

Sorry for the repeat post, but why are newspapers purging their websites of anti-Obama articles? Link to my blog is here: [Link: neoconlatina.blogspot.com...]
If somebody can figure out what's happening, I promise I'll quit! Have emailed the link to Charles, but have not yet heard back. I figure the lizard army can get to the bottom of this in no time.

Hello all. I went to my daughter's boyfriends house for the first night of Rosh Hashana. Conservative-Orthodox Iranian Jews. For the first time in a long time, everyone was a McCain supporter. What a nice feeling. I got hugs all around at the end of the evening. Unfortunately today it's my family. A bunch of tree hugging liberals. Break out the scotch.

Nah, not really. I don't make any money off my blog -- less than $10 to date! What I am really trying to figure out is whether there is something to this or not. It seems highly suspicious to me that newspapers are purging their websites, but then again, I am not an Internet guru. Figured someone on here could figure it out, though.

Rock stars Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel are teaming up for their first joint concert to benefit Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.
Obama plans to attend the concert at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City on Oct. 16, the day after Obama's final debate with Republican John McCain at Hofstra University, located several miles outside the city in Hempstead, New York. Seeing the two superstars together won't come cheap. Tickets start at $500 and cost up to $10,000. (AP)

Yep, and who really DID run a "we're buddies, right?" ad, on the night Obama was nominated.
The Onion folks are funny, but they are definitely left-partisan (and if you have any doubt about that, find the ep of "This American Life" in which they interview founders of The Onion; the ep is titled "A Tough Room", IIRC). This clip is cute, but inverts the truth.

Meanwhile, Obama first released a statement calling for the businesses and stocks to all just stop going down in value.
When his first reaction was compared to a beauty pagent contestant's answer, the next day he called on possible intervention by officers of WaMu, AIG, and Lehman.
When told these companies were some of the main problems, Obama finally released a statement saying that he blamed Russia for the invasion of Georgia.

They're attacking him for being "gloves off".
Note the bit at the end where they compare to the (non-existent) McCain attack ads going after his family.
The "problem" with the satire, is that its just not true. Obama has been launching attack ads a-plenty against McCain (eg the one saying he doesn't know how to use a computer). The problem is just that they lack "bite".

I think McCain needs to reach out to blogs and talk radio more. Run some negative ads on Obama friends. Obama's history needs to be laid out more effectively and truthfully. McCain should try and bring that history to the print media. Also, he should treat the MSM as a political obstacle and do some work to expose them and annotate the bias of the peoples favorite reporters.
The problem is that Obama's long ties to radicals and leftists don't play well in 30-second soundbite ads.
As to getting play in the mainstream media, there is nothing McCain can do there. They have no problem running false stories against McCain and his campaign, and they simply will not run stories against Obama.

ButtholeFrank that said the speech hurt's people's feelings. I belive Boehner pointed out that the Dems want to hang the bill on the Republicans so when they showed up for the "bi-partisan" vote, the Dems sandbagged them.
I heard a sound clip from Boehner just this morning in which he says he had "a dozen or so" Republican votes lined up, who were turned around by the Pelosi speech. Not surprisingly, nobody is exactly claiming credit as being one of them. Dumb move by Boehner.

Not at all. It was very obvious that the Dems could have passed the bill without a single Republican vote. They knew it was a sucky bill and they wanted to be able to pin it on Republicans. At least 130 Republicans don't play that.
Not to mention that the Dems only needed about a dozen votes and 94 of them voted nay. On top of that, 12 of Barney Frank's committee members also voted down. I wonder if I can hurt their feelings by poiting that out? Apparently, their feelings got hurt when the Republicans took their ball and went home.

What part of "serves at the pleasure of the President" don't they understand?
Prosecutor to examine firings of U.S. attorneys
Justice Department agents can't unravel the reasons behind the firing of former U.S. Attorney John McKay of Seattle, in part because of stonewalling by high White House officials, a government report said Monday.
But if you really, really want to know, here's a hint. Newly released DoJ memo confirms that McKay's "investigation" of the 2004 election was a sham
A year ago fired U.S. Attorney John McKay was being lionized by the mainstream media for supposedly resisting partisan political pressure to conduct a baseless investigation into Washington's 2004 gubernatorial election. The media accepted as settled fact McKay's insistence that he conducted a thorough investigation and found "no evidence" of crimes. When I interviewed McKay last May it came out that his "investigation" was limited to reviewing trial documents, that he demanded an implausibly high standard of "evidence" (amounting to a confession of participation in a conspiracy to tip the election) before he would proactively investigate or even interview election workers, and he denied knowledge of the hundreds of unlawfully counted votes that were discovered only after the trial ended.
DoJ doesn't know why? Do they read their own reports.
Sniff, sniff.... smells like political witch hunt, maybe for Obama's Investigation into the crimes of the Bush Administration!

Pretty much the only "thrill" associated with drinking something like Everclear is that its illegal in some places. That turns something you'd pretty much never want to drink straight into something alluring to juveniles. The stuff is reasonable if you want to use it to make mixed drinks and such, but if you just want to drink it, you're better off with low-end vodka, which tastes better, is safer, AND cheaper to boot.

Ah.....the MSM wool being pulled over the casual observers eyes.
It is if you just listen to Pelosi without reading/having someone sane read the vote results to you.
Nancy lost a mighty herd of Dems off the reservation; however, it seems that the instructions to the Majority Whip were to NOT PUSH so that Nancy could get enough Repubs on board to slam later.

Sure you do. Washington Times.
1. The Sun was better
2. The Sun was a very New York focused paper.

Pelosi couldn't get her party in line...she doesn't need the Repubs in the House to pass ANYTHING.
Two local Dems (Sheila Jackson-Lee and Nick Lampson) voted AGAINST the bail-out bill. Did no one tell Nancy P.?
Her little floor speech pissed a lot of folks off on both sides of the aisle. Leader of the House, and she can't keep 95 of her own in line, when she only needed 15 of 'em! That's real leadership alright!

Thank you for joining up and lending your "fighting" spirit where it's needed in Florida.
Thanks for the compliment. I've had it up to my eyeballs with the lack of fight in this campaign.
Again OT, but an important question:
My husband, who is Canadian but a LEGAL US resident, called me earlier, H'd like to come volunteer with me. Is there any reason he couldn't, since he's not a US citizen?
/I know it's okay for illegals to do what they want in this country, but he's legal.

If the worst case scenario materializes and Barry gets elected President, he'll eventually have to make decisions because voting present and taking both sides of issues will not fly. And hopefully, there won't be 4 more years after Americans see that they were duped during the first 4... just like Chicago- Changemeister brought no improvements and no reform to that paradise of high taxes, job losses, corrupt politicians and socialist programs. Unfortunately, the lefties can't see the writing on the wall just yet. They want us to suffer before conceding that the man with the lofty rhetoric has no track record of accomplishments that require political courage.
However, I remain optimistic that war hero will prevail.

I'm optimistic also!
BUT if Barry wins, he'll makes us remember Rabbit Bait fondly. We're still paying 30 years later for the Charlie Fox he made of the Mideast. It only took Reagan 4 years or so get the economy turned around. I figure B. Hussein will CF foreign policy for 50 years and the economy for 10.

I don't think he can give $ either.
But he's put a "Nobama - say no to socialism" bumper sticker on his brand-new car (never thought I'd see THAT happen) as well as a McCain/Palin one. Got lots of positive comments on both at the gas station yesterday.
Not all Canadians are devoted socialists!

I didn't see anything that was pro-BHO. They called him a wimp!
No, the argument they're making is that Obama is not responding strongly enough to the Republicans negative campaigning, which in their worldview is what got John Kerry "swiftboated". Big talking point among leftwing media savvy 20 and 30-somethings...
Get a clue people!

Kerry's weak response to the "Swift Boat" allegations probably was the best response he could give, given that they were substantially true.
The more attention he drew to them, the worse things would have been for him.
Meanwhile I think Obama's decades-long association with, employment by, and selection by extreme leftists and radicals is every bit as concerning as Kerry's fictional Congressional testimony, but to far less public attention.

/And what did you do with the tree after you pulled it out of the ground?
Looks like we have hijacked the thread into a drinking thread...
OK stupid stories time.. I went to a party in the Bay Area when i was in college..We got drunk on the beach and I decided that San Fran looked
so close that i could swim there.. So much to the dismay of my buddies I took off swimming to the city at like 2 in the morning...After along time swimming i saw that the city looked just as far away as when i began..
Exhausted I mostly floated on my back till i got back to Alameda..We left the beach at 6am and i realized i lost my wallet somewhere on the beach.
The morale of the story.. you really don't have to be smart to go to College..just a pretty good swimmer when your drunk.

Wall Street Journal. Pretty sound, although needless to say, very focused on financial matters.
Problem with the Journal is that it is now owned by Ruppert Murdoch. While the editorial page is generally good and they have improved the back of the paper Arts and Leisure coverage that was outstanding in the Sun they are poor on local coverage. NY politics, education etc are only mentioned in passing as occasional features. The Murdoch connection could effect it because of his other interests. For example the Sun could be fiercely honest in covering the repressions in China. Murdoch's outlets are always subject to the suspicion if not the fact of their coverage being slanted to mirror the interests of the owners.

Heh! got this in my email today. Sounds reasonable!
You like facts...stick this on your bulletin board.
George Bush has been in office for 7 1/2 years. The first six the economy was fine.
A little over one year ago:
1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
3) the unemployment rate was 4.5%.
4) The DOW JONES hit a record high--14,000
5) Americans were buying new cars, taking cruises, and vacations overseas, living large!
But Americans wanted 'CHANGE'! So, in 2006 they voted in a Democratic Congress and yes--we got 'CHANGE' all right.
In the PAST YEAR:
1) Consumer confidence has plummeted
2) Gasoline is now over $4 a gallon & climbing!
3) Unemployment is up to 5.5% (a 1% increase)
4) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $12 TRILLION DOLLARS and prices still dropping;
5) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.
6) As I write, THE DOW is probing another low.
$2.5 TRILLION DOLLARS has evaporated from their stocks, bond, and mutual funds investment portfolios.
Yes, in 2006, America voted for change, and we sure got it!
Remember, the president has no control over any of the issues, only congress. The democrat controlled congress.
And what has the democrat congress accomplished in the last two years? Not a damn thing! Stop and think about that for a moment.
NOW THE DEMOCRAT CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT CLAIMS HE IS GOING TO REALLY GIVE US CHANGE ALONG WITH A DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS!
JUST HOW MUCH MORE 'CHANGE' DO YOU THINK YOU CAN STAND?

That article is actually really sad. I knew about his parents before, but I guess until I read that it never really sank in that out of all those in the race now, he is the only one who has no living parents, and that he is only 47 to boot.
I would think if they were alive today, they would both be bursting with pride (and quite possibly jealously) at the son that they neglected and abandoned as a child in order to pursue their own ambitions.

re: #60 Nevergiveup
Everyone I was with last night ( all McCain supporters ) felt he was running one of the all time worst campaigns in history and they are all sick to their stomachs about it.
The campaign was doing great until the Couric interview of Palin, which was an epic fail by the latter. Palin's been muzzled since then. And then the financial crisis hit, at which point McCain went back to his day job as Senator. Since neither McCain nor Palin are showing leadership at this point, the Republicans are broadcasting that no-one is in charge- which I submit is the wrong message to send during a Presidential campaign.
