Bawer: Who's Sleeping More Deeply?

Religion | Tue, Sep 30, 2008 at 12:14:39 pm PDT

Bruce Bawer on the see-no-evil political correctness that prevents many Westerners from talking honestly about Islam: Who’s Sleeping More Deeply — Europe or America?

A big part of the reason for this dismaying American response to the cartoon affair is, of course, that Islamization hasn’t progressed as far in America as in Europe, and there’s consequently an incredible level of ignorance in America both about what’s really going on in Europe and about the very nature of Islam. In the current presidential campaign, only a small portion of the electorate seems to think that the war with jihadist Islam is a major issue. The one candidate who understood best what we’re up against, and who took it most seriously, Rudy Giuliani, was ridiculed across the political spectrum for being obsessed with 9/11 — as if the events of that day had been some kind of fluke or accident that has virtually no meaning for us today.

In depressing numbers, in short, Americans seem not to grasp the lessons of 9/11 — which should hardly be a surprise, considering how many journalists and politicians keep repeating that the terrorists are betraying a great and peaceful religion, that jihad means doing good works, and so on. A while back, in response to rumors that Barack Obama is a closet Muslim, New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof argued that it would be a matter of utter indifference if the president of the United States were a Muslim. Of the hundreds of people who commented on this article on the Times website, the overwhelming majority applauded Kristof for his extraordinary courage in standing up to Islamophobia. Only a tiny handful of readers noted that there are, in fact, good reasons for free people to be concerned about the possibility of a U.S. president with a devout commitment to Islamic theology and law. The American media that do report honestly on the less attractive truths about Islam, moreover, tend to be media that people are encouraged to look down upon.

Ot, but speaking of Europe, I had to love this line from an Opinion Journal piece today, on the subject of European leaders suddenly realizing (in spades) that the financial crisis is very much NOT just an American problem:

It was only last week that Hank Paulson, following his announcement of a $700 billion rescue package, suggested that Europe get ready with its own contingency plan. Governments from Berlin to Paris were quick to reject the U.S. Treasury Secretary's suggestion. Perhaps it was posturing so as not to spook the market.

But there was also a whiff of gloating. German Finance Minister Peer Steinbrück declared the end of American financial hegemony. The front page of the current Der Spiegel shows the Statue of Liberty's torch extinguished, beneath a headline that reads "The Price of Hubris." What's German for schadenfreude? Oh, right.

Or will the next president of the U.S. be someone who is every bit as eager to appease Islam as the archbishop of Canterbury, resulting in a strong transatlantic alliance devoted not to the joint preservation of freedom but to the joint pursuit of dhimmitude? I’m sorry to say that a year or so ago, when it looked as if the major-party presidential candidates would be Rudy Giuliani and Hillary Clinton — the former of whom obviously gets it, and the latter of whom, I suspect, does so as well — I was considerably more hopeful on this score than I am now.

The blogger Frank Martin has written about a teenage tour guide at a World War II battlefield in the Netherlands who told him that the Allied soldiers who fell there had been “fighting for bridges, how silly that they would all fight for something like that.” Somebody like that boy, who didn’t grasp that those soldiers had died for the very freedom that he had taken for granted his whole life, is incapable of standing up for freedom against Islamofascism.

No kidding, wow. How sad that there are people who are so horrible mis-educated (note I did not say uneducated!). I hope someone set that kid straight...

Yes, there are Europeans who realize that the opposite of Islam is indeed human freedom. But in Europe, with its checkered history of fascism and socialism, there are also all too many people on the right who are mounting the barricades in the name not of freedom but of ethnic identity, cultural tradition, or religion, and all too many on the left whose cri de coeur is not individual liberty but the welfare state.

Good quote from the article.

If I had to vote on who sleeps more soundly, it would be close. Europe seems to act more forcefully one minute, and more hopeless the next.

The sane over there seem to be more aware of the problem, if only because they are living in Stage 3 of the invasion, and we only in Stage 1. But their insane fellow countrymen take willful blindness to a whole new level.

A prime example are the Dutch who said Hirsi Ali was over exaggerating the death threats against her - and this after her partner in the film was murdered on the streets.

What's the matter with this? If the barricade is to keep Islam out then I'll mount a barricade in the name of religion. That's right, I'm for freedom but with that comes some things that are acceptable and some that are not. One is not free to murder, pillage, or maim. So why should I allow a religion that encourages it's followers to do just that upon unbelievers. It's not a slippery slope, it is common sense.

73 godfrey  Tue, Sep 30, 2008 12:46:58pm

Bawer writes:

At a recent Norwegian conference on integration, the Swedish government representative was asked: “Is Swedish culture worth preserving?” “Well,” she replied dismissively, “what is Swedish culture?” To people like that, European culture is a void waiting to be filled with something, and that something might as well be Islam.

i.e. and other imports. Here's why:

According to EUROSTAT data and national sources, Europe has averaged around 1.2 million abortions per year since 1998. i.e. 1 out of every 5 pregnancies in Europe has ended in abortion.

If you want to use a time-scale analogy, that's 133 abortions per hour, or approximately 3,200 children not born, every day. Six countries account for 77% of this: France, UK, Romania, Italy, Germany, and Spain.

A few other stats to round out the picture:

There's been about a 25% drop in marriages since the 1980s. Divorces are way up (+50%). Belgium, Luxembourg, and Spain seem to be the countries least interested in marriage: 2/3 of their marriages end in divorce. Average length of marriage in Europe: 13 years.

European women don't have children until their thirties.

A third of all children in Europe are born out of wedlock.

Bawer is puzzled:

I don’t know exactly how to characterize or understand this mass self-deception, this determination to cling to an illusion of the West in which the ongoing Islamization of Europe simply is not a factor; it would appear to be rooted partly in confusion, partly in cowardice, partly in careerism — and partly, I think, in a perhaps not entirely conscious conviction that some truths are just too sensational to speak without sounding hysterical, too repulsive to be honest about without sounding (to some ears) vulgar and bigoted, and too challenging to face without being utterly overwhelmed by the scale and the horror of it all.

I'm not sure it's self-deception. From the stats I quoted above, it sounds like Europe, in general, just isn't interested in having a future.

re: #26 doppelganglander

No one knows just how many attacks have been averted due to the vigilance of DHS, the FBI, and even local law enforcement. If those stories could be made public (and obviously they can't), people would have a much different view of the threat.

Just the ones A) that the public knows about and B) that I remember from that group:

1)Fort Dix Six
2)Two Tampa youts with "fireworks" in their truck outside military base
3)A bomb factory found in the apartment of a Columbia U. prof
4)Beltway Snipers
5)UNC attack driving into the student area
6)Kuwaiti-born math teacher, wielded knives and vodka bottles that he intended to ignite as explosives as he attacked the military policemen at the west entrance of the Homestead (FL) Air Reserve Base.
7)Teenager crashes plane into building in Tampa, leaves note praising Bin Laden
8)Shooting at El Al ticket counter
9)Shooting at Seattle Jewish center
10)Cab driver tries to run over customers when they didn't agree with him that Hitler did the world a favor over the Jews.
11) Convert to Islam blows up bomb at Oklahoma U
12) Salt Lake City mall shooting
13) Buffalo Six or Lackawanna Six
14) Man in Vegas with ricin
15) four Muslims indicted in that plot to attack Jewish and US military locations in Southern California
16) An MIT-educated Pakistani woman charged with trying to kill U.S. agents and military officers in Afghanistan allegedly carried a list of New York City targets -- including the Statue of Liberty, Times Square and the subway system

Bawer is living in Norway now, I believe. He shouldn't worry about the U.S. Remember, when WWII in Europe started, most of the U.S. was isolationist and FDR had a hell of a job convincing this country we had a stake there. Even after Pearl Harbor, a lot of people thought we should confine our efforts to the Pacific Theater. And according to my dad, when France fell to the Nazis, many Americans felt "Oh, no, I ain't fightin' for the frogs."
The thing is, there were ENOUGH Americans who got it. As there are now.

As for Europe, they are terrified of having any particular 'identity' other than 'European'. Their memories of war come from over-inflated identities. For them, right now, 'European' means 'not American'. The very strong identity we have as Americans sickens them. They think it's the same kind of identity focus that started their wars.

Make money? Stocks? The experts say this is just a ledge we've hit on our way down...

I don't doubt that there will be some bankruptcies coming (probably most of them well deserved), but I'm beginning to believe that "the experts" protesteth too much.

On one hand, I'm hearing things like..."The credit markets are frozen....they can't function.....businesses who use lines of credit to make payrolls won't be able to get credit anymore"

On the other hand.....I get a letter from my bank (U.S. Bank) yesterday increasing my credit limit on the business line of credit that I use as a cash flow buffer for payrolls.

I smell something that comes from the south end of a north-bound bull.

142 Land Shark  Tue, Sep 30, 2008 1:02:32pm

I strongly recommend Bruce Bawer's book, "While Europe Slept". Mr. Bawer goes into great deal about the threat to Europe and the West from Islam's growing presence and influence. He's a very writer and the book is a well written, easy read.

And as others have commented, we in the US are just as vulnerable, since the same forces are also working here, we're just not as far along the road as Europe is. But if The Obamination wins the Presidency, it's going to start to get worst. The blindness of the Left to the threat is incredible.

(reposting this here in the correct thread =/)

One of the root sources of the U.S.'s inability to understand the danger of Islamists/jihadists was the arrogant refusal of the Bush administration to get on the tube in fireside chat style in primetime every few months, explaining the importance of the Iraq front, the meaning of a multi-theater war, and to imbue in the citizens a patriotic pride in the battle; i.e., a stake in, and an ownership of the war. The only major speeches Bush made, aside from SotU addresses, seemed to be at elite think tanks or military commencements, at three in the afternoon, when most folks were tuned in to Judge Judy. The people were giving their own blood and treasure for Iraq, yet the administration appeared to snub them, perhaps feeling that they were too dumb to appreciate military strategy and tactics. The MSM was only too happy to fill in their information void.

The other problem came when the Pres. continually re-iterated a truncated rationalization of the warfront instead of the original dozen or so reasons he originally articulated in his speeches before the vote to authorize force. He only said that the danger was for the terrorists to 'bomb here instead of there', rather than cite the threat of takeovers of moderate or on-the-brink Islamic nations, with the intention of using those nations to build standard armies, increase weaponization, expand their ability to use diplomatic and economic pressures, etc. With only the former rationalization, when the AQ prime leadership was boxed in, and their chains of command and control broken and their money sources and communications cut off, the ability of AQ to strategically attack us was destroyed early. With that Bush success, it too soon appeared clear to Americans that without even a firecracker going off in Cleveland, there was no real threat at home.

The final mistake the Bushies made to turn off the American public was to switch the message of a war for U.S. security to one of a war for democracy in Iraq. The peace dividend for a democratic Iraq was completely out of line in terms of a cost/benefit ratio to most moderate voters, and that is when majority American support for anything except globally chasing terrorists with lawyers came to pass.

I've had liberals tell me that the following items are bigger concerns for them than Islamist terrorism:

1) Making sure we have lots and lots and lots more sex education for kids; and

2) Banning snowmobiles from our National Parks.

If it's busy at the end of day, it takes a while for the trades to cross the ticker (most internet sites have a 15 minute delay). So at 9am easter, when the markets open, you may not see the first trade cross till 9:15. At the end of the day, markets close at 4, but because of the delay you may see price fluctuations for another 15 minutes or so.

Every and all religion sucks.Every single one of them.I believe in THE god.
Not A god.All religions put up a wall between people by teaching that their god,and their gods way is better than any other. As long as that wall stands,we will never get along on this planet. Now religion is not the only wall,we have language, culture as well. But language and culture are small walls.Religion is the wall that divides us all most harshly. The hardest one to climb over.Until we on this planet start to believe in THE GOD,and not A GOD or the religion of your choice, we will never learn to communicate I love GOD.I do feel that he does not care much for religion.

The stock market is old. Going back to the time when only traders with a 'seat' could participate, people wanted a reasonable work day. Hence we have the 9-4 trading day.

Today with computers, it's not so important. So secondary markets started for late trading to siphon off business from the NYSE and/or Nasdaq. Companies like 'archepelego' started that. Lately the NYSE and the Nasdaq have bought their competitors. So they keep the expanded hours of trading, but they don't count against the official daily "close."

For some perspective, the US stock market was at its highest point in October of last year -- above 1.5k.

It's now back to where it was, roughly, in 2003 -- around 1.1k, i.e. a little higher than it was in '03.

So in the long view, the market is doing okay. Obviously, not great, and for that we largely have stupid politicians to blame. The market was on a helluva tear for about five years, and people were making tons of money. Now we've settled back.

Jake Tapper has a great breakdown of who voted which way yesterday:

That House Vote -- By the Numbers

These stand out:

Of the 19 members of Sen. Barack Obama's home delegation of Illinois, 9 voted against it, 10 voted for it. Of the 9 who voted against it, 4 were Democrats -- including Obama's close ally Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr. -- and 5 were Republicans.

Anyone calling him Unpatriotic?

Of the 34 House Democrats from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's home state of California, 19 voted for it, 15 voted against it.

Now that's what I call leadership!

Of the 37 Democratic members of the House Financial Services Committee, 25 voted for the bill, 12 voted against it.

You're doing a hell of a job, Barney.

Yes, I agree. That particular line was not the best, but overall I think Bush performed well in the immediate wake of 9/11.

As for calling for 500,000 new recruits... to do what, exactly? We weren't about to send a million man army to Afghanistan. It just wasn't needed or desireable.

It's a democratic talking point and they stick with it. Lately, McCain's adopted it, too, I think to co-opt traction.

The president was brilliant after 9/11. When the history is written, he will be given the credit. My prediction is that Generals Sanchez, Casey and Ahbizihd will not be treated so kindly. Rumsfeld, also, will be given mixed grades. The GWB's biggest sins, in my opinion, were with sticking with Sanchez, Casey, Ahbizahd and Rumsfeld for too long.

I was a union worker several years ago. Had to join if you wanted to work. At the time they had no sick leave. You got sick and were out for more time than you had in vacation, then you were dumped onto short term disability.

Recently I got a letter from them dealing with the fact that the Feds said that the union was critically underfunded in the pension funds. Funny thing was that they had enough funds to be involved in politics, but not enough funds for the retiring workers.

Publix grocery store is a great example. The unions tried every trick in the book to unionize the workers here in Coastal Georgia. Used to have picketers in front of every Publix store and standing on some corners.

When I first got back from Germany, I thought the union had a lot of employee support until I found out the workers had rejected them outright, being an employee owned store chain, ~and~ the "picketers" were day laborers hired off the street and paid by the day by the union.

What a load of crap.

Dear Ms. XXXXXXXX:

Without getting into the fine details, I thought I would let you know that I voted against the so-called Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 (H.R. 3997) when it was brought to the House floor earlier today. There were compromises made in this version of the bill. Unfortunately, such compromises were made at the expense of key priorities -- investment in helping homeowners, protections to ensure that the taxpayer will not have to absorb the full cost, and incentives to get the economy back on track.

This bill can be improved, and a different approach can be taken so that foregoing issues can be appropriately addressed.

As of this writing, it is expected that Congress will revisit this matter before the end of the week. I will keep you updated.

Thank you for weighing in.

I mind like hell when I have to endure what are essentially hostile work environments while my so called enlightened coworkers tell me that the bridge in Minneapolis fell because the populace are under taxed, when my boss tells me that all this stock market BS is due to Reagan era deregulation, when I lose a job because I am NOT gay, when I lose a job because I am NOT a minority, when I lose a job because I am NOT a stark raving moonbat. Before I went in the Army back in 1972 I lived in Mass. and worked for an Insulation company that was non union. We had a union official drive up and demand to talk to the employees and the owner said go ahead, knock yourself out. He was telling us about the changes the union could bring to us. As a matter of interest, Eric was paying us more than the union wage.

It ended up the company would have to almost double the workforce and less would get done as we would have to wait a lot. Only drivers could drive the stock and deliver it. Only warehousemen could load and unload stock on trucks or in the warehouse on truck/train delivery days or our company trucks. He kept going on in this vein as to what employees could do what tasks. We gave it up and ignored him after awhile.

On another occasion we were going to work at a government site and a requirement for for all workers on that site to be union. When we came in to work the next morning, we all had union cards as well as certificates attesting a trade school training and apprenticeship served.

Even the unions would take $$$ to falsify information against their interests.

Nobel literature head: US too insular to compete

STOCKHOLM, Sweden (AP) - Bad news for American writers hoping for a Nobel Prize next week: the top member of the award jury believes the United States is too insular and ignorant to compete with Europe when it comes to great writing.

Counters the head of the U.S. National Book Foundation: "Put him in touch with me, and I'll send him a reading list."

As the Swedish Academy enters final deliberations for this year's award, permanent secretary* Horace Engdahl said it's no coincidence that most winners are European.

"Of course there is powerful literature in all big cultures, but you can't get away from the fact that Europe still is the center of the literary world ... not the United States," he told The Associated Press in an exclusive interview Tuesday.

Note that key European term: "permanent secretary"!

From your link:
"ACORN recognized very early the opportunity presented by the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) of 1977. As Stanley Kurtz has reported, ACORN proudly touted "affirmative action" lending and pressured banks to make subprime loans. Madeline Talbott, a Chicago ACORN leader, boasted of "dragging banks kicking and screaming" into dubious loans."

Obama worked for Talbot training her organization. Then, as director of the Woods Foundation, he funded her organization's activities. As a lawyer, he argued & litigated for the goals of the organization. And as a state senator, he supported legislation supporting her organization.

The Bush mistake happened on 9/12, when he had ALL of us in his hand: If he had said, "By next week I want 500000 young healthy American males to sign up for active duty", he would have had more. But no, he said, The best thing Americans can do right now is....SHOP. He had us, we were united, strong and READY, and he told us to head to the mall. oy, what an all-time blown moment

That was a heartbreak for me.

I have no idea what is selling best in European bookstores, but statements like that make me all but certain that Euro-authors have to endure seeing all their fellow citizens with American novels in their hands.

Like the French passing laws that force their own citizens to watch a certain percentage of French television. Because if they didn't, they wouldn't.

I have heard too many people mention this "mark the Market" thing over the last two days.
Donald Trump
Steve Forbes
Newt Gringrich
Dave Ramsey
Karl Rove, etc.

From what I gather, it stems from legislation called the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. IIRC it is an accounting method that forces banks to value their mortgage portifolios based on the lowest value ones contained in them.

I run a small service business with 5 vehicles. These vehicles range in age from 2001 to 2008. If I was a bank and these vehicles were mortgages, I would have state the value of all 5 vehicles based on the 2001 value on my balance sheet. Something is wrong here and from what I understand this ridiculous rule could be changed by a stroke of a pen and add hundreds of billions into the credit markets. I'm not a financial genius by any means but this seems too good to not try.

There's a lot tied up in that act.

It is also the "whistle blower" law, and the executive reporting law.

A close associate made national news for being the first whistle blower to sue and win under the Sarbanes-Oxley.

Europe's ripe for a takeover because they abandoned the Church. The Catholic Churches are empty and the Mosque's are full.....you connect the dots and tell me where this will end.

Theres only one thing that scares Islam and that the Catholics. Laugh all you want, but Islamist have no fear of the secularists, but they do fear us Catholics and what will happen if Islam steps over the line. We put them in their place before and we can do it again.

Hey "beer drinking monkey" and "russel with the kilt pulled up over your head "- go have another beer and maybe you'll both start walking on your hind legs .
I can come up with just as many anecdotal stories about management practices that I'm sure even two slugs like you would consider reprehensible .
So cut the crap , you both know damn well that unions set the standard , you work 40 hrs a week with Sat& Sun off . You work over 8 hrs aday and it's O.T.
If you're boss tells you a mail clerk to get behind the wheel of the wharehouse forklift inbetween your clerc duties I'M sure you'd have complaints .
OR , if your boss told you , that you dont go home until the work load is finished , you two would be the first to whine and scream .
Yea there are some Unions that accomadate illegals , but it's THE BOSSMAN who hires and pays'em , and it's manaagement that ships your job overseas so the Chinese can mix melanine in whatever your product is , and managemment gets bonuses and Bossman get a bigger chris-craft .

But that wasn't my point to begin with , dont blame me for your dyslexia or poor reading comprehension , my complaint was generalizing union folk in a light which would cast them as uncaring traitors .....and that's just wrong .

So try paying attention to what is said before you jump on the party band wagon and go on the attack .

And it's PRECISELY unions which force wages so high that American companies can no longer compete. Union bosses get fat checks irregardless, because they force open ballots on the membership and point out the dissidents to their enforcers.

The Teamsters, the TEA and the NEA, among others, are blatant callous traitors. They don't give a damn about America. They're out for everything they can lay their hands on for themselves.

re: #430 Excaliber

OSHA deals with workplace safety and the unions I've worked for were both pretty unsupportive of safety issues in the workplace. You negotiate your wages up front so you don't get surprised on your first payday. Grabbing a mail room clerk to drive a forklift is okay if the clerk has a forklift license. Much of what the unions once did the federal government now does. That pretty much makes unions obsolete.

434 Aussie Infidel  Tue, Sep 30, 2008 3:36:37pm

Many liberals and some who profess to be conservative still deny that there is an elephant in the living room. Islam maps out for all to see exactly what is about and how it intends to dominate the world either by persuasion or if necessary by force. Many who profess to not believing that there is a threat to democracy from Islam do so because they see it as an impossible problem too big to solve. They retreat into denial and choose the devil's pact of "try to be nice to Muslims and maybe the Islamist crocodile will eat me last" rational.

The basic tenets of Islam are there for all to see. The Wahabbists are the least of our problems as they make no bones about what they want to do. Much more of a danger are those so called moderate observant Muslims who just keep their heads down in the West whilst covertly supporting the radicals. Even non observant Muslims are suspect as they often spawn radical offspring several generations down the track as young Muslims failing to get succor for their spiritual needs from a narcissistic and hedonistic secular western society revert to extreme forms of Islam.

Past generations have learned the hard way that the only way to live with prople of the Muslim religion is separation and arms length contact. Anything less just establishes an Islamist fifth column and is a major cause of bloodshed.

If the neo-West doesn't admit that old observation has some relevance then it is condemned to suffer from the scourge of Islam as generations have before for the past 1400 years. Each generation of couple of generations seem to think that they are somehow special and that the laws and pressures of global political ethnic and religious pressures don't pertain to them. Every time those generations have to bleed and learn the hard lessons of history.

Given the almost absolute power of political correctness within the Western sphere across all modes of life, either that violent reckoning will be especially bloody or the West and democracy will go the way of other forms of social organization and move into the shadows with a whimper of self absorbed pity.

It especially wouldn't hurt to enumerate some basics for those (such as myself) who are new and are here out of frustration at the lack of attention to the threat of jihadi islamists by the supposed "watchdogs" of freedom. This frustration can lead to the use of inflammatory statements.

#432 ....as I said before "anecdotal stories you've heard " dont cut it . You've never walked a picket line , you've never been confronted by a goon squad . Your idea of unions are what you see in the movies . They have in fact set the standards by which YOU get paid , and the behavior by which your BOSS and managers must adhere too .
OSHA , for your info has absolutely no connection to management or non-management employees , they are one of the few Govt.Orgs. that are unfettered , unless of course you find corruption , and that is usually between the management end on behalf of Companies that dont want to spend the money for safety . OSHA supercedes local safety inspectors , and unfortunately due to their small numbers [ not any fault of the unions ] they are on the scene AFTER accidents happen , but their rules have been in place but ignored . IE; RECENT CRANE FAILURES .
And Again , to call them traitors is nothing but childish and I suspect the only reason you or anyone else in thios thread would imply that is because of your party line , which you know as well as I , is anti-union based soley on the fact that your opposition , the "traitors " in your eyes those evil .liberal Democrats , enjoy the support of most unions.

However in your small way of looking at things , as well as the IGNORANCE EXPRESSED BY BOOMER-BRAT , the unions although they agree with your boiy McCain on immigration , also agree with the notion that Islam IS INDEED A THREAT .

So stop talking like TWO IGNORANT ASSHOLES BY CALLING YOUR FELLOW AMERICANS WHO WORK FOR A LIVING -TRAITORS .

And lay off the unions , they set the standard for what the non-union employees wage . After all if the Union was paying 10 an hour , your union busting boss in order to entice workers with atleast the same or higher , and of course would reserve the right to cann your ass whenever he chose and for whatever or NO REASON at all .

Its bad enough you are jerks when it comes to labor history in this country and its origins , but you compound your ignorance and stupidity by generalizing and calling them all traitors ....maybe you should do your homework and refer to the sailors strike in San Francisco where the local authorities SHOT the protestors . Guess you geniuses never heard of a" sweat-shop " either , whether it be in N.C. or NYC , which operate as we speak , and how the most tragic of industrial fires usually involved managements blatant failure to provide work-place safety , and even lock-in employees .
Go get an education you two .

444 Excaliber  Wed, Oct 1, 2008 8:17:38am

BTW ....GREAT SPEECH BY MC CAIN just concluded in Independence Missouri 11:15 am , and YES , he says to a contentious Congress ...."get this Bill passed ...BY TONIGHT " .
