On Monday, we can't get any work done because we're still reeling from the weekend.
On Wednesday, we can't get any work done because it's hump day and that makes us think about the weekend.
On Thursday, we can't get any work done because it's almost Friday.
On Friday, we can't get any work done because we're already in weekend mode.

Huh?
An "experiment" that poses as science.
These clowns are trying to establish that polar bears are going deaf because of the sounds of ice breaking. So global warming causes polar bears to go deaf and die.
It isn't science - the data coming from a domesticated bear in a cage is hardly usable when compared to bears in the wild.
The polar bear enclosure at San Diego zoo is within 100 yards of a freeway (the 163). Here is the satellite photo.

Here's a thought. Dictators tend to get lavish love from the media of their countries. Say, children singing about their wonderfulness. They can get this because they have a lot of people scared that they (and their families) will be killed if they don't cooperate. Our media is over the top for B Hussein. It always seemed ridiculous that someone could covertly take over the country, but...

When liberals are an endangered species, will we keep them in a zoo? I say we should....put them in the same cage as the Spotted Owls, Snail-Darters and the Deaf Polar Bears......

Yes, although it originally applied to geographic red-lining by lenders. It was the Clinton Justice Dept. (aided and abetted by ACORN, Jesse Jackson, etc) that put it on steroids and claimed lenders were discriminating against minorities because they had fewer assets and lower incomes than white borrowers. That's when lending standards went out the window, and the rest is history (for a lot of investors).

It is just stupid.
Balboa Park is also directly under the glide path into San Diego International Airport. I heard somewhere that jet noise can be bad for the ears...

If there is one thing worse than a pack of spoiled brats, its a pack of spoiled brats with power.
It would be better if they didn't get any power at all.
True, however, it is what it is. Imagine the new micro-industry of No-Bama T-shirts and bumper stickers, all the merchandise that will be generated after Obama attempts to install his brown shirts, nationalize half the country, and of course, watch the economy take a huge crap...on his watch. His fault or not (which in part it is, due to his affiliation with the Fannie Mae/ACORN extortion ring), he gets the blame, the 18% approval ratings, and so on and so forth.

The governor also named a Temple University professor to head a review of how the Corrections Department and parole board handled the suspects in the latest Philadelphia police slaying and another four months earlier.
Rendell said last week the administration was reviewing the board's decision to release Daniel Giddings, who killed Philadelphia Officer Patrick McDonald last week before being killed by police. The review being led by John S. Goldkamp, a nationally recognized expert on incarceration, now includes the fatal shooting of Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski in May.
Rendell said that shooting was committed by an offender on parole for robbery.
SNIP
John McNesby, president of the city's Fraternal Order of Police lodge, advocated similar actions. Of the nine city officers shot over the past year, five were shot by criminals under parole supervision, he said earlier Monday.
"What we didn't sign up for was to be executed," McNesby said. "What we didn't sign up for was to not have the backing of the Philadelphia judicial system — not all, not all, but some of the judges — and the Pennsylvania parole board."
SNIP
Giddings, 27, served 10 years out of a maximum 12-year sentence. McNesby said he could have been sentenced to up to 45 years for the 1998 robbery, in which he shot his victim in the kneecaps. He had an extensive disciplinary record in prison, spent more than 500 days in solitary confinement, and should not have been eligible for parole, McNesby said.

(From his July 29, 2008 speech before the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) conference)
2:00 minutes in:
“We marched together in the streets of Chicago to fix our broken immigration system. And it’s because of that twenty year record of partnership with your communities that you can trust me when I say I will be your partner in the White House and I will be your champion in the White House. And that is what you need now more than ever. For eight long years Washington has not been working for ordinary Americans and for hardworking Latino-Americans. Few have been hit harder than Latino-Americans and African-Americans. You know what I am talking about. You know the people like the couple I met in Las Vegas who were tricked into buying a home they couldn’t afford and are at risk of foreclosure…”

Hillary couldn't beat McCain. Too many negatives.
But if she did, I think she'd be far less dangerous than Obama. I think Hillary would have been downright Hawkish just to prove to the other world leaders she was no wimpy woman

What spurred on 1994? Mainly it was Hillary Clinton and her attempt to nationalize the US health care industry. If indications are correct, Obama plans much more, and may very well be able to do it since we have a bunch of conservative impersonators in the congress. Very bad impersonators. Obama has plenty with which to do great harm to himself, and to his party. I distinctly remember the cover of Newsweek...(or Time, can't remember that distinctly) with the headline "Death of the Democrat Party?" Of course not, typical MSM hyperbole, but they got their assess handed to them over one major issue, and a handful of minor ones. The next midterms (2010) could be worse, even at the state level. Course, I also said Biden was dropping out, doesn't appear likely anymore.

If you haven't seen this. They just can't keep their liberal spin out of anything.
"The View's" Elisabeth Hasselbeck is reportedly "really upset" about the recent political discussions (i.e. the upcoming presidential election) that have been taking place on her daytime gab fest. As the lone Republican on the talk panel -- not to mention the youngest -- she just can't seem to win against her loud, liberal counterparts Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg.
...
Rumor has it that Elisabeth may even be leaving "The View" to host her own program on the FOX News Channel, where she can be with her own "kind" ... and not have to face off with Joy and Whoopi on a daily basis! That sort of makes me sad. Although I think Hasselbeck often comes across as being out of touch, uninformed, and immature, I must admit that the outspoken 31-year-old makes for some good television!

Let me give y'all the benefit of my heavy thinking and discussions at lunch, this is my neo-econ theory:
mark-to-market is an illegal taking
galloping granny's post on the past thread got me thinking, what is wrong with what *looks* like free-market practice? It didn't work for property in California. It's also very much like what went wrong with the California (/Enron) energy crisis a couple years back. To whit:
Mark-to-market *forces* you to buy back your own property on a daily basis.
This is illegal, or should be. Worse, it is malignant, simply doesn't work.
There y'go.
Donald Trump was discussing Mark to market this morning. Basically you are forced to report the value of a property tied to a loan on a monthly basis? As housing prices plummeted, the value of assets plummeted, yet loans outstanding remained the same, and some of course defaulted. Don't know if it is illegal, but it should be done away with. We might not be in this mess, or at least not as bad if we eliminated mark to market, and the CRA, and ACORN.

Understood, believe me. But people also automatically think people are douchebags when they invoke Godwin's Law.
Let's be honest. Obama isn't wily, and evil-enough to be Hitler. No one will ever be. That's why when Bush is connoted with Hitler, it's laughable on so many levels and people re-elected him to shut those folks up.
While I'll agree on the violation of Goodwin's Law and the basic premise that Zero isn't evil enough, etc.
We just don't know how evil he is until given the full reigns of power and a blank check congress.
I used to believe he'd just be another ineffectual Jimmah, but I've changed my mind in the last few months to think there is something deeper and much more evil under there he's hiding that will be sprung on us after the election.
...and it might not even be _him_ but rather his "mentors" that use him to make it happen.

re: #110 karmic_inquisitor
An "experiment" that poses as science.
These clowns are trying to establish that polar bears are going deaf because of the sounds of ice breaking. So global warming causes polar bears to go deaf and die.
It isn't science - the data coming from a domesticated bear in a cage is hardly usable when compared to bears in the wild.
The polar bear enclosure at San Diego zoo is within 100 yards of a freeway (the 163). Here is the satellite photo.
It is just stupid.
Stupid, no doubt about it. I spent one winter close to a remote Eskimo village on the shore of the Arctic Ocean where the sea ice piles up, and the loud popping, crunching and grinding sounds as ice ridges push against each other or the shore are quite unmistakable. The booming sounds carried for many miles.
Every time the wind shifted direction it moved the ice, and since that's one place in Alaska where the wind is always blowing, the ice was always shifting back and forth. It is amazing just how much power a moderate wind has, regarding ice movement. Once when the wind blew directly towards the shore it stacked up chunks of ice 20-30 feet high along the beach, pushed up on top of each other.
The villagers said that the ice has been doing this every winter, forever. (And that was over 20 years ago, long before the infamous 'global warming' cash-cow was ever dreamed up.)
We'd regularly see polar bear tracks along the shore during the winter. I must admit, however, we didn't think of testing their hearing.
I did a quick Google search for popping sea ice -- as it matched my memory of the phenomenon -- and HERE'S A GOOD DESCRIPTION:
Sea ice is in constant motion. As stated earlier, floating sea ice is pushed by both ocean currents and wind. Ice floes are constantly being pushed against each other. When pushed together, with enough force, the edges of the ice floes will start giving way and ice will break into pieces and pile up along the floe boundary forming ridges (see photo). These ridges can contain many ice blocks and be very thick, extending into the air, above the ice floes, and into the ocean, below the ice floes, for many meters. A combination of dynamic and thermodynamic processes continuously alter the composition of sea ice at all scales, from the basin scale down to the crystalline level.
--So what's the deal, now we're going to fit polar bears with hearing aids and sunglasses? How's about a special form of DEPENDS, so they don't pee and poop in the pristine Arctic Ocean?
Heh. Any volunteers to change the diapers?

snobamamessia was in reno today speaking to 10,000 brainwashed university students-- and a few morons from my office,,, here is an exerpt that i found especially hilarious -- the bold part it the most gut wracking,, (i copied this from the online local paper the bold is my addition)
"Let me be perfectly clear. The fact that we are in this mess is an outrage. It’s an outrage because we did not get here by accident. This was not a normal part of the business cycle. This was not the actions of a few bad apples.
This financial crisis is a direct result of the greed and irresponsibility that has dominated Washington and Wall Street for years. It’s the result of speculators who gamed the system, regulators who looked the other way, and lobbyists who bought their way into our government(you mean like YOU snowbama). It’s the result of an economic philosophy that says we should give more and more to those with the most and hope that prosperity trickles down to everyone else; a philosophy that views even the most common-sense regulations as unwise and unnecessary. And this economic catastrophe is the final verdict on this failed philosophy – a philosophy that we cannot afford to continue.
But while there is plenty of blame to go around and many in Washington and on Wall Street who deserve it, all of us now have a responsibility to solve this crisis because it affects the financial well-being of every single American. There will be time to punish those who set this fire, but now is the moment for us to come together and put the fire out.
This is one of those defining moments when the American people are looking to Washington for leadership. It is not a time for politics. It is not a time for partisanship. It is not a time to figure out how to take credit or where to lay blame. It is not a time for politicians to concern themselves with the next election. (again snobama, like YOU)It is a time for all of us to concern ourselves with the future of the country we love. This is a time for action. "
OHHHHHHH yea the morons from my office came back all smiles going on about how many people were there,, but the knew better than to start going on about HIM-- they are outnumbered even the bosses are for mc cain

It wasn't over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor...
ps it was the JAPANESE who bombed Pearl Harbor
i do not not not think he is unbeatable,, i do however thing it will "look" that way right up till the end because the msm will not allow anything else,, that is untill all the votes are actualy counted and it is a "slient majority" landslide--- HOWEVER,, it will take a lot of hard work on the part of Senator Mc CAin, Gov. Palin and all of the little guys, the supporters on the ground as it were,, for example, i will be going out on a neighborhood walking campaing with the McCAin people on saturday and i will also help man the phones when i can,, and I work two jobs one full time day and one pracitcally all night long delivering the local msm rag,, the only good thing is i am starting to see some mccain yard signs in the yards of some of my customers so i can feel safe making big circles with a line thru the face of snobama when ever he is on the front page,, and i have gotten a few tips from them too.

The meida is so far in the tank, they refuse to look at any questions of Obama's fitness to govern. Suppose Obama does win. Now imagine all he will do in office: to the economy, to the security of the country, etc. Not a pretty prospect. Eventually, the truth of his long time close relationship with corrupt politicians, leftist terrorists & Marxists, and his hidden connections with Islamists will come out. What will the media eleite do then?
There will be a reckoning.

They work with their HANDS. The elite, including those who didn't start out part of the elite, but most definitely are today (read, the Obamas), simply do not KNOW how to relate to this woman and her kind. They belong to a class of people they will never come across in their lives, by choice.
