Redesigning USA.gov

Politics | Wed, Oct 1, 2008 at 8:54:59 am PDT

In a great post, noted designer Andy Rutledge imagines what the USA.gov website will look like after being redesigned by an Obama administration: USA.gov Redux.

For the purposes of this redux exercise, let’s imagine that Barack Obama has won the White House. In keeping with the theme of change that saturates Senator Obama’s campaign, let’s examine the necessary changes that should be brought to the USA.gov website. As with other website redux candidates, the USA.gov website requires design changes in order to improve its function and clarity. But in keeping with the assumed context of our exercise, the site will also require copious content and directional changes.

Do not fear these changes! Like other similar socialist leaders and thinkers before him—Marx, Lenin, De Leon, Debs, Trotsky, Chavez, and others—Obama seeks to destroy only the most successful among us. You, as a member of the honorable and patriotic middle-class, will only benefit from these changes so that all Americans can enter the middle-class and all equally receive entitlement from our benevolent Socialist government.

First change; United State of "America"... named after a white imperialist! That'll have to go.

The new obama page needs a big link to trial attorneys so that you can sue for any grievance or personal injury you may feel that you have since; in an obama administration it will be encouraged to sue any successful companies for any "rights" you "feel" that have been denied.

Fjordman's proven himself to be a twit. His long-winded, incoherent rants at the Gates of Vienna are practically unreadable by anyone who is not as deranged as he is. It seems to be me that Fjordman doesn't just support the fascists, he is one as well.

Geeze, what a world. We have fascistic people in Europe who are co-opting the anti-jihad movement. We have the Islamofascists wanting to dominate the world. We have the liberal fascists here in the US, such as Barack Obama, who want to remake the country in their image. Is there nowhere safe anymore for freedom-loving individuals?

By the way, Gordon had to cover Fjordman's banning over at his "LGF Banned and Blocked" blog. That's another twit with another story for another time.

Stephen King is a certified moonbat, but he does know how to write horror fiction that gets under your skin. "Children of the Corn" is an example.

(Although that story had another example of King's cluelessness about firearms, despite his career-long obsession with a character called "The Gunslinger": In "...Corn", a character talks about getting "bullets" for his shotgun, IIRC.)

Will they learn how brother Mugabe whipped his country into shape as well?

Will they celebrate the birth of Mao?

Interesting. I'm wondering how it differs from the OICW that was stalled, I think, because they determined that it just wasn't lethal enough (and very expensive).

That said, I'm glad they are working on this. The infantry rifle has been basically unchanged for the better part of a century; the first military to field a true quantum leap ahead will have a huge advantage.

Hey!

Come one, EIDE is depressed! I've objected to his downer comments, but I've never read anything that I can even begin to construe as racist!

he's a troll. the constant disruption he causes can't be blamed on his subterfuge of depression forever. ( we all get depressed at times.)
he is skilled enough to keep the thread off balance and discussion focused on him. sometimes it's amusing in the silliness he brings but the derailing of discussion is a time waster. especially now when the issues are so important.

Sounds like Obama talking about military affairs (e.g., that Captain in charge of a "platoon" in Afghanistan, whose men were scavenging AK round from the Taliban and somehow loading them into their M-16s/M-4s.).

I didn't mean anything about "whatever".
Two problems:
(a) Charles might delete my comment, which was a quote of a quote, and that might be appropriate for my post in this thread.

(b) BUT, he's got a tough job deleting all the quotes in the whole thread I referred to if that's what needs to be done. I only picked the first reply.

(b1) And furtherless, if he does the above, the whole thread won't make any sense if history is preserved.

His call. Whatever. "Present". :)

I am not in the field, but a good friend of mine was clinically depressed a while back, and he seemed to have waves of deeply bad hours interspersed with what appeared to be relative normalcy. I don't know if that's common with depression, or just how it hit him.

If a person alternates being way down and way up, maybe with some "normal" in between, bipolar disorder could also be a possibility.

If a person just happens to be sad sometimes, well, heck - aren't most people?
