Charles, I have a question: why is it that when I put my Ibook to sleep at night (with LGF still open on my menu bar), when I bring LGF back up in the morning, the individual ICONs are gone, and there are only little green footballs? I'm still shown as logged in, so I don't know why the individual icons have disappeared.

Isn't market protectionism wonderful? We won't have buy cheaper arrows from desperately poor countries!
Hurrah for the domination of smart markets over sweatshops, which may be the only option for anything other than abject poverty for those people.
The world we live in. At least my arrows will be union made, rather than inexpensive.

Well back to work tomorrow after the two days of Rosh Hashana to reflect on the important things in life--family, health, and friends. I work as a financial advisor and the past few weeks have been really rough-reminds me of the time period after 9-11. No one had a clue then either if we were going to live or die. We had the shoe bomber, the mysterious plane crash above Brooklyn ( a shoe bomb IMHO) anthrax and a total market meltdown. Here we are today. Life goes on, people fight the good fight. I prayed hard for McCain and Palin, which isn't a particularly Jewish thing to do, as well as praying for a dear friend with three beautiful kids who just had a brain tumor successfully removed . We are up against a monster who controls the media and things look pretty bleak. Don't give up! If we lose this round, there will be more.

So why did Barack Obama flay John McCain alive when McCain said "the basics of our economy are still sound"?

from the now legendary "404 SOI Extract" as promulgated by RTO Trainer
A little shorthand of potential help to us in communicating intent:
Smoke and Pyro
White Smoke---Covering/Screening only
Yellow Smoke---Designated target (Fire at will)
Purple Smoke---All after is sarcastic
Green Smoke---Kook Identifed
White Star Cluster---All Clear
Yellow Star Cluster---Cease-fire
Red Star Cluster---Danger
Some Examples:
Red says something smart and instead of "ducking," pops white smoke and disengages.
Anyone needing assistance might designate a post (or a thread in the subject line) with yellow smoke.
Prior to typing a sarcastic remark, "pop purple smoke." When removing tounge from cheek, send up a White Star Cluster.
Green star clusters would probaly be most effective for the person on SGT Casey's duty roster with an addition to a subject line.
Yellow star clusters used to designate a friendly under fire or to initiate compromise under a misunderstanding.
Red star custer, any kind of warning.
it is/was a Usenet thing.......

That's OK - I've been in techie hell for the last six days or so - after last Friday night's debate topics, something went horribly wrong and I have not been able to browse to LGF until late tonight! Talk about withdrawal - I've been going crazy trying every techie thing I could think of (every other web site worked OK...). Finally I was at a different location and therefore different network and was able to get LGF and send an SOS. After I got home and back on Concast, I could finally get LGF back. YAY! I'm active in the Civil Air Patrol, and there are rare times when a lost plane is never found or is found years later. There was one incident about ten years or so ago (before my time in CAP, so I may be off on timing) in the eastern US where nothing was ever found during an intensive search, and then about two years ago, a hunter walked into a forest clearing and there were the remains of that plane... When the crash site is in the mountains or large forests and there are no eyewitnesses, it can really be like looking for a needle in a haystack.

When the crash site is in the mountains or large forests and there are no eyewitnesses, it can really be like looking for a needle in a haystack.
or the one here recently in CA where hikers found the wreckage of a training flight from 42-43, because the snow/ice melted enough.....

0bama Uber Alles
-with apologies to bite me Jello Biafra
I am Sen-a-tor 0bama
Hoping for economic trauma
So I can be pre-si-dent
George Bush will soon go 'way
I will seize power and stay
I will command all of you
Your kids will worship me in school
Your kids will worship me in school
[Chorus]
0bama Uber Alles
0-ba-ma U-ber Alles
Uber Alles, 0bama
U-ber Alles, 0-ba-ma
Civilian security force will appear
You'd better watch your rear
Say anything bad about me
Free is one thing you won't be
Close your eyes can't happen here
I am your leader dear
Rationing all around
You're gonna starve you little clown
You're gonna starve you little clown!
[Chorus]
Now it's dark, just after four
Knock-knock on you front door
It's the NOI secret police
You've quietly disturbed the peace
Come quietly to re-education
So you can serve the 0bamanation
Don't worry it's just for an hour
And while you're here you get a quick shower
DIE on organic greenhouse gas
It's methane straight from a cow's *ss
You will die, and so will your mama
When you mess with pres 0bama
When you mess with pres 0bama
[Chorus]
--end
I now await the banning stick.

About these polls- I don't believe them. Zogby has 0bama up by 2 nationally, so I have to think the other polls are padding the number of democrats to republicans. I also wonder if any PUMAs getting polled are lying.
If they are padding these polls, it is to demoralize our side. We must use these numbers to double our efforts instead. Hopefully, that's what we'll do and these numbers will have the effect of lulling the dems into a comfort zone where they won't work as hard as we will.
But if we know one thing, it is this- the msm and their fellow travelers are not above lying to the public. I don't believe their polls.

Apropos to this election:
"By the Babe Unborn" by G.K. Chesterton
If trees were tall and grasses short,
As in some crazy tale,
If here and there a sea were blue
Beyond the breaking pale,
If a fixed fire hung in the air
To warm me one day through,
If deep green hair grew on great hills,
I know what I should do.
In dark I lie; dreaming that there
Are great eyes cold or kind,
And twisted streets and silent doors,
And living men behind.
Let storm clouds come: better an hour,
And leave to weep and fight,
Than all the ages I have ruled
The empires of the night.
I think that if they gave me leave
Within the world to stand,
I would be good through all the day
I spent in fairyland.
They should not hear a word from me
Of selfishness or scorn,
If only I could find the door,
If only I were born.

Well- in America we don't make people vote. So a registered voter is not the same as a likely voter since being registered to vote doesn't mean you actually will vote. But a likely voter is obviously someone who is likely to vote and a better indicator in terms of polling.

My son passed his hunters safety course and he was so proud of hmself. I took him out to the range a few times and he seems to like shooting shotguns at claybirds more than a rifle at targets,so I'm going to try and get him out for Pheasant and Turkey.

Not really forcing, there's permits and emission limits and all that, but the company is pretty out front on the environmental thing on their own. you realize that *not* voting for McCain is the same as voting for Obama, even here in CA, since they all important "national total" will be trotted out if the anointed one doesn't win in the Electoral College, but gets more votes. overall.
and don't tell me you don't see a difference between the two.

Bloomberg would have tanked with the conservative wing - Palin energized them.
Let's see how it all plays out. Obama doesn't know shit about the economy either, and neither does Joe Biden.
Sarah is on stage in about 18 hours. Her moment is coming.
It's up to her - as long as the McCain camp sets her free, she'll do ok.
No worries.

Not really forcing, there's permits and emission limits and all that, but the company is pretty out front on the environmental thing on their own. Being a steel mill, electricity is a big hitter on the bottom line, so energy conservation means more money to be made. Most of the other efforts fall into the same line of thinking too.
Do you generate your own electric or buy? We are self sufficient on that,we even sell some back to the grid. And you don't have to tell me about permits and regs. We have this guy from the state EPA that would like nothing better than to shut us down. The prick. Even though we built a dam in 1970 and donated land for the state to open a park.

I just browsed through Michelle Malkin's site and in the comments there are a lot of defeatist attitudes visible. The ones that have that seem to have problem with McCain not fighting tooth and nail against Ifill being moderator in VP-debate. That angers me for a few reasons. First, doing that would paint McCain campaign as whiners. Complaints tend to do that regardless of how valid said complaints are. Second, there is no room for you guys to have defeatist attitude. Not in these elections.
Over the years I have seen time and time again elections that were not free, and two things have stuck to my mind about them. One, there were tampering on voters and/or ballots one way or another. Two, media access was not equal and fair. And I say that both of those are visible already in these elections. You (I am Finn, so those are not my elections) can't give in and fall into despair. You can't allow that sort of tactics to work. You have to fight against it throughout as individual citizens (and state has to do that too), and at the voting booth you must show that those tactics are not the way to victory. To me it seems painfully clear that large number of Democrats have discarded the notion of free elections. Media certainly has. They need to learn a lesson that you guys won't allow it.
Ok. This is my opinion on the matter. Play straight, play hard and keep your spirits high.
P.S. To make clear why I care: 1) I Think McCain would be best choice for USA's sake, for my sake (yeah, my ass means a lot to me) and my US and Israeli friends' sake. 2) You guys deserve better than have your country fall to same category as Russia in regards to the elections.

No, you got that completely reversed. They absolutely thought the polls were true. Remember that all the pollsters (except Zogby) had Kerry ahead on the final day. Well, if we get Obama, you have only yourself to blame.
The election is not about getting your dream date. The election is about staving off disaster. By not voting for McCain, you are actively stating that you prefer Obama to win. Which is your prerogative, of course, but it's odd that you're an Obama supporter and don't seem to be aware of it.
The competition is not between some fantasy candidate you wish had been nominated vs. McCain. There is this thing called reality and in reality you have two imperfect choices; McCain and Obama. If you seriously, honestly think that Obama is better, or if they are absolutely identical, then by all means refrain from voting McCain. But if you think McCain is even 1% better than Obama, and yet you still refuse to vote for him because you're pouting, then I have nothing further to say to you.
I don't mean to be harsh, but I don't have time for pouters.

If Californian conservatives do not start voting now, they will never get that gap closed. This debate has gone on since it first looked like we would be stuck with McCain. Maybe four years of Obama would be worth sixteen years of Palin/Bush (Jeb) and a conservative congress. Without Jimmah I doubt we would have had twelve years of Reagan/Bush.

Is John McCain a Conservative?
FederalismMcCain is most clearly not "a conservative" on the issue of the appropriate role of the federal government. Here, McCain has taken after Teddy Roosevelt, one of his political heroes. Roosevelt viewed the federal government as the ultimate arbiter in the political economy with a particular role in being a counterweight to accumulations of wealth or power. He didn't much see a need for the authority of the federal government itself to be constrained.
Taxes
Prominent conservatives are still criticizing McCain for his votes against the Bush tax cuts. McCain defends himself by saying he voted against them because they weren't offset with reductions in spending. But that's only part of the story.
McCain also sponsored, along with Democratic leader Tom Daschle, an amendment to eviscerate the already modest reduction Bush proposed for the top individual tax rate. This was accompanied by rhetoric criticizing tax cuts for the wealthy.
Need more? It's all there

If you care about this "conservatism" thing, I think a better question you need to ask yourself is:
Is Barack Obama a Conservative?
No?
Then why do you want Obama to win?

Yes. I do. I was a 3rd class at the Coast Guard Academy. I had an instructor/Capt TD Combs who was a fervent Carter supporter. He was also my student advisor and baseball coach. OK, you've not been on much so I didn't know your opinion on that... I was just pointing out that it's hardly a conspiracy if it's not a secret. Kind of like it's not paranoia if they really are out to get you... That in this instance, some of the blame can be laid on the media, it's not just a failure by the Republicans. That's all. :)

The left try to erase creepy Obama video from history
Remember that Obama video? The one with all the kids, that was like an eerily cross between Children of the Damned and the Aryan kid in Caberet singing "Tomorrow Belongs to Me"
Well it's now been removed from youtube.
Daily Kos has also been purging it - from here )but there's still a version on Google Cache) and here although the person behind the video still has a diary on the site.
Obama's official site has removed it from here (Google Cache)
Now the big question - are they suddenly embarrassed that the Cult worship is too obvious, or are they ashamed at the way they brainwashed kids.
Must be something like that, otherwise why remove the video and all references to it?

Good Lord In Heaven, look at this -
An auditor for the Federal Election Commission is attempting to have his bosses seek a formal investigation into the collection by the Obama for President campaign of more than $200 million in potentially illegal political donations, including millions of dollars of illegal, foreign donations, and has sought a request for assistance from the Department of Justice or Federal Bureau of Investigation. But the analyst's requests have largely been ignored. "I can't get anyone to move. I believe we are looking at a hijacking of our political system that makes the Clinton and Gore fundraising scandals pale in comparison. And no one here wants to touch it."

Watch this - and if after seeing this you're not going out full tilt to prevent that man from getting into the White House, then you deserve whats coming.
E-mail it everywhere, to the PUMAs, the McCain campaing, everywhere!
Ask yourselves this: what meaning has your right and correct disgust about the rise of Nazi-Parties in Europe when this is actually happening on your own doorstep - and you (still) have a chance of preventing this, but do not because of idealistic niceties about what is true conservatism? Or because the polls make you feel doomed?

Urban middle school students uniquely display their understanding of the democratic presidential candidate, Barack Obama's health care reform plan. The chant "omega, alpha" symbolizes the end of the old way of thinking, and the newness in their ideas and thoughts. Barack Obama has invoked thought even in the minds of the youth.

Barack Obama was a founding member of the board of Public Allies in 1992, resigning before his wife became executive director of the Chicago chapter of Public Allies in 1993. Obama plans to use the nonprofit group, which he features on his campaign Web site, as the model for a national service corps. He calls his Orwellian program, "Universal Voluntary Public Service."
Big Brother had nothing on the Obamas. They plan to herd American youth into government-funded reeducation camps where they'll be brainwashed into thinking America is a racist, oppressive place in need of "social change."

Exactly. You can't quit fighting when the fighting gets a little tough and it looks like you might lose the battle. You have to redouble your efforts to WIN.
Start by sending that video around to everyone you know. Do not forget to address all of them as BCC - not CC. Otherwise you will send out everyone's email address.
