Charles,

There are 5 congressmen listed in this article saying they are switching their vote from "no" to "yes" for this bailout. Please let your readers know so they can put pressure on them right away through faxes, emails, and phone calls.

Also, it seems that congressmen that voted "no" seem to have the most trouble with their phones and emails compared to the congressmen that voted "yes". Are the House leaders blocking the public from reaching these representatives? Can they do that technology wise and legally?

Be safe and well.

P.S. Pray for this bill to be defeated tomorrow. Let's clean out the incumbents this November!

276 txlady  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:19:39pm

Hi all:
I post very little. I am here though. I have a very slow connection and thus can't post much. I wanted to post the letter that I sent to my senetor. Please, use whatever you want in it. It's rather strong but factual. Here it is....
Dear Sir:

The bail out is a travesty of justice. I do not believe that the American people (legally American) are being represented. This is what the forefathers of this country would terms as taxation without representation. The Boston tee party occurred from a lesser CRIME. The people back then were always uncomfortable in their lives, so they were very conscious of something that was going to make their lives MORE uncomfortable. We, as a people, all over the world (not just an America) are living much more cushioned lives. The bailout is a CRIME, but unlike what occurred in Massachusetts, we won’t be quick to rise. But RISE we will! The people will have to experience tumult in their lives first, but when they do, the people will take swift and blunt approaches in the punishment of their SLAVE MASTERS. Do you want to be held accountable to them, when they are finally touched by the hard lessons of life? You will be held accountable. You are our “representative” and if the people decide that YOU didn’t represent them properly, it’s you who they will want to hold accountable. Senators and congressmen have been sent to jail for lesser crimes. Please, do not vote to pass this bill. There have been many suggestions as to alternative methods to alleviating the credit markets. Listen to them. We, the people, know that there are “foreign” interests in this. I’m not the smartest person about this, but I believe that it would be considered a crime for Americans to foot the bill for foreign “entities” to be helped with our tax paying dollars. This is a government on the brink of forced socialism at best and akin to the Bolsheviks’ instilling Communism by force. “The lack of international support for the 'democratic White Russians' (1916-17) allowed takeover by the Bolsheviks’.” The Nazi’s came in the same way in to Germany. How many times must history be repeated? This scenario is out of communist manifesto. The schools may not teach history objectively, but nature abhors a void. When there is an absence of truth, people begin to take it upon themselves to obtain it. The truth is not something one can hide from or change. History did happen. The schools are trying to change HISTORY and don’t teach children how to THINK. The representatives are not representing the people and the people have no outlet

With the greatest of respect,
IIF

455 really grumpy big dog Johnson  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:35:54pm

3652.5 days before we see one drop of oil.

This is a constant fallacy promulgated by the dems.

456 arethusa  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:35:55pm

She caught Biden on his coal gaffe.

457 Archimedes  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:36:00pm

Senator O'Biden. LOL

458 TheMatrix31  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:36:01pm

Ifill's bias is showing already.

She called out the "raping" of the shelf!

459 spidly  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:36:02pm

cap carbon emissions?

460 ciaospirit  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:36:03pm

we should export technology to china? to help them produce coal?

461 Occasional Reader  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:36:09pm

re: #431 buzzsawmonkey

Orange juice is Minute Maid, but climate change is not manmade.

In fact, that's pulp fiction.

462 devil in baggy pants  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:36:12pm

She just prompted him, too

463 Random_Lizard  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:36:18pm

Sarah, stop talking about the "energy crisis," and giving Biden the fuel advantage. Please, as someone said above, talk about Obama's involvement with Fannie and Freddie and how much money he got from them. The more you talk about energy, the more the liberals will throw stuffed polar bears at you!

464 Charles  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:36:19pm

Biden's grinning like a goon at her when he thinks the cameras are not on him.

465 Sharmuta  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:36:29pm

Hahaha- she nailed him on the coal comment. He's getting defensive.

466 doriangrey  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:36:35pm

Joe Biden..... I was taken out of context.....

467 politicalinsomniac  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:36:37pm

his clean-coal rope line comment was taken out of context?

hadn't heard that one before

468 Cartman  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:36:40pm

He just lied. Again.

469 HoosierHoops  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:36:43pm

re: #383 Charles

Biden says the government is going to pay down the principal on everyone's loans.

Hurray! My new house is free! whoppeee!

470 Brigman  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:36:50pm

why are there 2 different questions for each

471 reggiefu  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:36:51pm

With Biden the GaffeMaster, everything is out of context.

472 Occasional Reader  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:37:07pm

Um, Obama will change the constitution about gay rights... huh?

473 Catttt  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:37:08pm

Gwen, baby, I'm starting to love you. :D

474 code red 21  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:37:17pm

Go Sarah..you have said what I have always said..get the other nations who don't care about what they are doing to the planet on board..it's always blame the USA for pollution.

475 arethusa  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:37:22pm

Uh oh. Same sex couples.

476 Castlebravo  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:37:23pm

these are all LIBERAL talking point-based questions! Come on now!

477 bbuddha  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:37:25pm

Biden hates the free market. asswipe

478 reine.de.tout  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:37:27pm

How can he say there will be no constitutional difference in an Obama administration?
Isn't the constitution the constitution regardless of whose administration it is?

479 conrad  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:37:28pm

Hey Joe, McCain voted against your bills for alternative energy because of all the pork that you and your buddies added to make them unpalatable. BTW, we will see oil in three years, not 10, AND the west coast cannot be polluted by east coast coal burning! Wind on this planes (as opposed to planet Biden) blows from the West to the East. WTF?

480 Cartman  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:37:45pm

So far, all domestic. Nothing on foreign policy.

481 buzzsawmonkey[deleted]  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:38:02pm
482 Catttt  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:38:15pm

483 Jimash  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:38:38pm

Joe: Here comes chuck and Larry. Oy vey.
Sarah: tolerant, not crazy.

484 doriangrey  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:38:58pm

Same sex canard.... It should be up to the voters............

485 jim in virginia  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:39:21pm

"Let's avoid nuance, Senator."

486 conrad  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:39:34pm

Where in the HELL anywhere in the constitution is the definition of marriage defined, Joe?

487 doriangrey  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:40:48pm

Sarah Palin... Our exit strategy is to win....

488 conrad  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:41:06pm

My exit strategy is VICTORY! I will stay until I win! So I get a little sandy and drink bad coffee. Right now, because our our military's efforts, Juarez is more dangerous than Baghdad! Go USA!

489 swamprat  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:41:24pm

He supported gay marriage; before he opposed it!

490 armytramp  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:42:00pm

SHE'S DOING GREAT! I think she is awesome. That's our Sarah!

491 politicalinsomniac  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:42:19pm

come on, sarah... beat him at his own game here with foreign policy.

shouldn't be that hard.

492 Archimedes  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:42:22pm

OBama's plan = RUNAWAY!

493 Defogger  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:42:47pm

Sarah nailed Biden on the surge. Now he's lying about it.

494 NomadOfNorad  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:42:49pm

"We have got to win in Iraq."

Yes! ! ! !

495 armytramp  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:43:09pm

Oh my GOD I have a girl crush!

496 politicalinsomniac  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:43:12pm

she should bring up the "soft partition" and "surge" was a failure

497 conrad  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:43:19pm

Barak Obama likes to take credit for the works of good people. He is a horrible politician and an unneeded risk in high office. Joe, we are already giving responsibility to the Iraqi defense forces. They are good soldiers!

498 doriangrey  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:43:27pm

Biden..... Your plan is a white flag of surrender....

499 conrad  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:43:41pm

We are also in Germany 60 years later

500 txlady  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:43:50pm

501 politicalinsomniac  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:43:53pm

re: #496 politicalinsomniac

she should bring up the "soft partition" and "surge" was a failure

meant to write "surge was a failure" (quote from biden)

502 swamprat  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:43:53pm

palin scores!

503 gooddad  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:44:02pm

I think we've got the good 'cuda tonite whew.

506 Defogger  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:44:28pm

Palin: "You're plan is a white flag of surrender."

Right on, Sarah!

507 NomadOfNorad  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:44:43pm

The new comments button is greyed out... :-/

508 gooddad  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:44:57pm

he looked dour

509 skree  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:45:35pm

re: #495 armytramp

Oh my GOD I have a girl crush!

Me too!

510 conrad  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:45:36pm

HE DID NOT! He voted against a piece of crap bill that had a rider in it to fund troops only if there was a set timeline to leave and tell OBL when he can come in.

511 Basho  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:45:55pm

I don't get it... Biden talks first... why does he always get the last word?

512 Jimash  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:45:56pm

Why do they keep saying that McCain said all this stuff that Cheney and Wolfowitz said ?

513 Billy Hank  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:46:24pm

Pakistan has ICBM range to Israel per Biden?

514 gooddad  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:46:24pm

Yea, but Joe your foreign policy has been wrong.

515 sirusstudent  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:46:57pm

Sarah is doing well, but why oh why can't she say how obama took all that money from freddie and fannie. Biden had that law passed that made it harder for regular people to declare bankrupcy because his state is where a number of those credit cards co's are.

516 swamprat  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:47:26pm

Biden opts for the invasion of Pakistan...while building schools

517 conrad  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:47:33pm

Notice that Gwen has given Biden the first and last word on each segment. Yup, real balanced.

518 izbliss  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:47:45pm

I think it's great that she's attacking and putting BIden on defense. However, I am worried about her not taking the full time to speak. It looks as if Biden is droning on and on just to get more air time.

519 Castlebravo  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:49:04pm

Al Qaeda said Iraq is the central war on Terror! Yes, I was hoping, praying, begging, pleading that she'd call ole Joe on his idiotic comment. Thank you!

520 gooddad  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:49:27pm

Joe goes first by coin flip.

521 Defogger  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:50:18pm

re: #506 Defogger

Palin: "You're plan is a white flag of surrender."

Right on, Sarah!

Your.

PIMF

522 Frank_Mtl  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:50:24pm

She is great!

523 RTLM  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:50:33pm

And she did indeed say "Nuculer"

3 times.

:)

524 sirusstudent  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:51:16pm

Come on Sarah hit him back he just said your lying and that comment about that Iranian Hitler is not in control... he's their dang leader thats who everyone has to talk to

525 Basho  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:52:37pm

Ahhh Palin is so pleasant to listen too...

526 conrad  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:53:11pm

Hey Joe! If an attack comes from AQ, it will NOT be from the hills of Afghanistan, but will come from the hills and suburbs of Philadelphia! That is where terror cells live! That is where 9/11 was planned (that an in Germany with Kallid Sheik Mohammad). Joe, you LIE!

527 Defogger  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:53:18pm

McCain did NOT say he would not sit down with the president of Spain. (OTOH, he did not say that he would).

528 conrad  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:55:13pm

Failure? Huh? Iraq is free, Afghanistan is free, Libya gave up nukes, Lebanon kicked out Syria until Iran invaded via Hezbollah. the big 0 has said more than once that he wanted to just talk to the leaders of Iran. Yup, Joe, you lie like a rug!

529 gooddad  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:56:08pm

looking backwards, smackhim again Sarah

530 Basho  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:56:29pm

Didn't Biden admit earlier that his policy on Iran is the same as Bush's?

531 Jimash  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:56:44pm

re: #517 conrad

You are correct sir ! Biden last word every time. And cut off Palin once.
"stand up and wave to the crowd Gwen " !

532 conrad  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:57:15pm

Ahh, the last bastion of crap has appeared in this debate. Joe is trying to control the argument by asking for nit picking answers on questions HE thinks is important. Thanks for not falling for it Gwen.

533 Defogger  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:57:53pm

Actually, Biden has a point regarding Bush's policy vis-a-vis Israel and the Palestinians. Palin was wise to concede that one.

Oh, here we go again . . . McCain = Bush, according to Biden. I hope the viewers can see through that.

534 Billy Hank  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:58:01pm

Don't ask for permission, Sarah. Say it.

535 conrad  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:59:42pm

Barak is an Idiot with a capital "I"! I am going to spell his last name with a zero from her on out! Biden, I'm surprised at you! You just complimented a general! you usually have nothing good to say....oh never mind, you did it to criticize Bush.

536 Defogger  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:59:55pm

Biden gets the last word almost every time -- and still sounds like a dope.

537 leftover54  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 7:00:30pm

She just stole "Change IS coming !".

If she doesn't spell out VERY plainly that O'Bama wants to send 86 BILLION of our tax dollars to a world "welfare" fund
I'm going to scream ! This alone should be enough to make every Americans head to pop off !

538 gooddad  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 7:00:35pm

"Nucular" sounds presidential.

539 conrad  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 7:00:56pm

Barak 0bama, firt thing he did when he came to the United States...

The only thing he did, BTW, was vote "present". Joe, that last lie trailed enough bullshit to fertilize the Negev.

540 gmsc  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 7:01:08pm

They said the order was determined by a coin flip. Care to guess what coin was used?

541 sirusstudent  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 7:02:14pm

Gwen broke her leg she can't stand up without crutches. Maybe Biden will ask her to stand lol

542 DM Glampers  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 7:02:20pm

Does she mean McInerney?
I hope I'm wrong.

543 Airborn Swine  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 7:02:24pm

Bosniaks ?

544 gooddad  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 7:02:40pm

did he say 'bosniacs'?

545 Defogger  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 7:02:48pm

Palin wins on Afghanistan! Biden stumbles!

546 MidwestEngr  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 7:03:04pm

Bosniacs!

547 conrad  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 7:04:03pm

First one to recommend the Bosnian campaign and were wrong. There is no stability there except when the countries there split up. you LIE! BTW, we are STILL in Kosovo! The African Union is ineffective!

548 gooddad  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 7:05:39pm

Lib cause Darfur

549 conrad  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 7:05:41pm

We were able to enforce the no fly zone in Iraq! Credit where credit is due, Clinton enforced it with operation Desert Fox. We REALLY enforced it by invading and taking over.

550 Solly  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 7:06:15pm

Huh? "Bosniaks" WTF, Joe?

Biden just LIED through his capped teeth about his vote for the Resolution for the Use of Force in Iraq, saying that he only voted in favor of the war so Bush could use the resolution as leverage, never dreaming that a Resolution for the Use of Force in Iraq might somehow lead to the use of force in Iraq.

Very Kerry-ish

Ah! And Sarah just GUTTED him over it!

She's kicking his pruny ass. One man's opinion.

551 cybermonk  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 7:06:58pm

Biden is throwing out the bullshit so fast and so deep that its impossible to refute it all. It sounds impressive, he throws out bullshit figures and so called facts without having to back them up. But what upsets me is that Palin is hopeless, she believes in global warming, she blames the buyout on Wall street, ignoring the real problem, she believes in a "two state" solution and thinks Rice is doing well.
She is not what I thought, or else McCain has her on a tight leash.
Biden has thrown out so much bullshit, he wins this debate just on the basis of quantity of bullshit.

552 conrad  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 7:07:25pm

Iraq was committing genocide and harboring terrorists. Thanks for clarifying Joe. BTW, Joe, in case you are missing the real world because you are always reading your website, we are WINNING in Iraq!

553 conrad  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 7:08:57pm

Reinstating the middle class by government fiat! Freakn' commie!

554 gooddad  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 7:10:39pm

Two maverics, she didn't suck up as Joe did.

555 sirusstudent  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 7:11:41pm

Sarah got him on that, the pundits will analyze and truth will come out, but I say will people listen. Go Sarah Go!
Biden in home depot lol what a joke.
Keep lying Joe.

556 Jimash  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 7:12:06pm

Lots of people can't say nuclear.
Many also cannot say "Corroborate "
it's a tongue thing/.

557 Jimash  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 7:16:47pm

Yessss. A VP kicks Senators.

558 corduroy O'johnson  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 7:19:01pm

Am I imagining things or are Biden facial expresions a bit patronizing when Palin speaks?

559 Solly  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 7:21:52pm

Palin has landed far and away the best chuckle lines!

"Say it ain't so, Joe!"

Excellent!

560 Terp Mole  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 7:46:33pm

She ate his lunch.

561 J.D.  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 7:47:21pm

re: #546 MidwestEngr

Bosniacs!

I loved it.

Sarah did great, I thought.

562 the_flying_pig  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 7:52:07pm
