Palin owns energy, this is not Biden's strong suit at all.

2 lookout  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:36:09pm

Clean coal taken out of context?

3 Dar ul Harb  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:37:01pm

Carbon cap and trade.

Biden's a broken record on McCain's voting record on alternative energy.

4 Dar ul Harb  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:37:17pm

Gay rights question.

5 rw in san diego  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:37:17pm

He's not making sense. The oil has to come from somewhere, Joe. Why not from the USA where we well honor standards.

6 wong fei hung  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:37:23pm

Joe's for clean coal.

And dirty tricks.

YES!

23 arethusa  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:40:32pm

27 Dar ul Harb  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:41:12pm

Tagging Obama on voting against funding for troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, and citing Biden's criticism of 0bama.

Great job!

28 She-ra  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:41:15pm

30 Occasional Reader  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:41:43pm

"You called Obama out on that"

BEAUTIFUL!

31 She-ra  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:42:11pm

We've already left 11 out of 18 provinces in Iraq - including Anbar province - giving it to the Iraqis

32 ciaospirit  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:42:14pm

did he just say obama is working with the President on an Iraq plan?

33 Junior  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:42:14pm

There's just something about Sarah Palin saying "withdrawal" that makes me grin...

34 ArmyWife  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:42:20pm

Obama has a clear plan? McCain is odd man out? What?

35 Intrepid  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:42:45pm

Joe, a timeline will only alert our enemies as to what we're going to do, dude.

36 Sharmuta  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:42:59pm

The Iraqis ARE taking responsibility for their country.

37 MJBrutus  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:43:05pm

Obama's 16 month BS was going to start 36 months ago! Nail him on that Sarah!

38 rw in san diego  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:43:07pm

We will surrender!

39 Dar ul Harb  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:43:12pm

We will end this war!
-Biden

Your plan is a white flag of surrender.
-Palin

40 CyanSnowHawk  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:43:18pm

The Iraq drawdown is not Obama's plan Joe. It is what George has called for all along. Iraq stands up, We stand down.

41 Killian Bundy  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:43:25pm

Biden wants a timeline.

/he used to want a partition, I suppose we're making progress

42 David IV of Georgia  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:43:29pm

White flag of surrender.

Ow.

How Fwench.

43 ArmyWife  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:43:46pm

White flag! She said it! Oh I love her. My husband, who is watching this in uniform, is cheering!

44 Osama Bin Porkchop  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:43:48pm

"Your plan is a white flag of surrender......" awesome line

45 TheMatrix31  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:43:58pm

Obama DID admit that it worked.....after vehemently denying it on occasion after occasion after occasion. LOL.

46 devil in baggy pants  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:44:00pm

She's getting feisty...

48 Ward Cleaver  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:44:03pm

Sarah's main problem is that she was prepped by McCain's team, which is mainly clueless.

49 Sharmuta  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:44:14pm

I love her using his words against him.

50 Charles  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:44:26pm

Sarah is killing him. Absolutely killing him.

51 Dar ul Harb  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:44:27pm

Tagging Biden for his praise of McCain and criticism of 0bama.

Bwahahaha!

52 Intrepid  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:44:38pm

BAM! Hope she has enough shells in her pockets, cause she's been hitting him hard.

57 politicalinsomniac  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:45:20pm

58 devil in baggy pants  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:45:22pm

There's a difference between feisty and shrill, Sarah... settle

re: #45 TheMatrix31

Obama DID admit that it worked.....after vehemently denying it on occasion after occasion after occasion. LOL.

Not exactly. He gave a huge share of credit to the tribes.

63 JSK1121  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:45:42pm

A recent poll just came out that said the Iraqis consider W to be a national hero. THERE are the facts.

64 snowcrash  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:45:51pm

Sarah is holding her own. No matter how the msm spins this she is in the game.

65 DM Glampers  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:46:00pm

Biden trying to tie McCain to nonfunding of troops won't work with Joe Sixpack. His support of the military is beyond question

66 Dar ul Harb  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:46:04pm

McCain has been dead wrong on the fundamental issues about the war in Iraq.
--Biden

What color is the sky on your planet, Sen. Biden?

Oh yes he did and Ifill didn't give Palin a chance to respond.

Betcha she'll bring it up in this rebuttal =)

Joe lips move. Joe no say anything.

75 CyanSnowHawk  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:47:04pm

Pakistan has not said that Israel must die, Joe. Are you paying attention?

76 spidly  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:47:06pm

pakistan has nukes

good reason not to invade like obama wants

77 Crimsonfisted  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:47:08pm

Sarah, please hit Biden with his comment on Israel living with a nuclear Iran, and too bad for you Israel.

78 Charles  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:47:19pm

Notice that Biden is focusing on "John." That's how they've decided to play it -- just put Sarah on the sidelines, so they don't get accused of bullying.

79 David IV of Georgia  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:47:20pm

Biden's making sense—who coached him?

80 witness  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:47:32pm

I think she is very nervous. I feel bad for her, but that image will stick with people. She needs to stop smiling and get serious.

81 Pullus Iulius  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:47:35pm

45 minutes. Half-way in. Trouble breathing - not Sarah, but me. Been holding my breath too much.

82 Biff  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:47:37pm

Is anyone keeping track of their minutes. Ifill is giving Biden every follow-up, and then leading back to him. He's got at least 60% of the time. Palin needs to step in when Biden is playing with the truth, and then getting off the hook with Ifill's next question.

83 Dar ul Harb  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:47:50pm

Biden bringing up Pakistan.

He's just asking for Palin to tag him on 0bama's threat to attack Pakistan.

Yeah Sarah, please make that point!

93 politicalinsomniac  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:48:55pm

FactCheck.org should have a field day with Biden on this one.

Of course, they'll split it down the middle, claiming they each had the same number of lies/half-truths/factually-challenged statements.

94 Killian Bundy  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:48:56pm

Halfway through.

/so far so good

95 GeeWiz  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:48:57pm

I don't know if you are all watching the same debate as I am. Sarah is cleaning Joe's clock! You go girl! She has him on the ropes.

96 Cartman  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:49:00pm

Ah, I'm a former soldier myself. I just know how the press will spin it if she seems like she's going off the rails is all.

No offense intended.

100 She-ra  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:49:14pm

Yeah!

101 Biff  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:49:30pm

Notice that Biden is focusing on "John." That's how they've decided to play it -- just put Sarah on the sidelines, so they don't get accused of bullying.

And yet she's brought her A game against Biden, and is easily keeping up with him on foreign policy. If she keeps this up, it's a big win.

you'd think the collapse of global warming might get a mention

150 lawhawk  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 6:52:55pm

re: #50 Charles

She's getting stronger, but I think the problem is that there's simply so many places to attack that if you don't hit every one of 'em it looks like she's failing.

Meanwhile, who's actually going to fact check anything Biden says tonight in the media? It surely isn't going to be MSNBC or CNN or the NYT? And where exactly does the Dems stand on clean coal? They believe in man made global warming, but support clean coal? There's something not quite right in that - and what about all the Dems who say they're for alternative energy block alternative energy when it's proposed in their backyards - NIMBY. If the problems are as bad as Dems claim, why block siting them where they can do the most good.

No, it's Biden parsing......McCain did vote against closure on a Democrat bill for funding (one of the 42 failed Democrat attempts) because of the timeline being forced on the Administration by the surrender monkeys. But that is nothing close to the votes that Biden and Obama did on every one of the funding efforts including the ones that did pass and provided funding for the troops.

BOZNIAKS? BOZNIAKS? WTF

The Bosniaks or Bosniacs[25] (Bosnian: Bošnjak, pl: Bošnjaci, IPA: [bɔ'ʃɲaːt͡si]) are a South Slavic people, living mainly in Bosnia and Herzegovina ("Bosnia") and the Sandžak region of Serbia and Montenegro, with a smaller autochthonous population also present in Croatia, Kosovo and the Republic of Macedonia. Bosniaks are typically characterized by their tie to the Bosnian historical region, traditional adherence to Islam, and common culture and language.

re: #410 JFlash

Give Biden's coaches credit. He's not the snide, hateful, smug, elitist creep we've all come to know and love.

Looks like a draw, if you ask me.

I was just waiting for the "I call it a draw" crowd to chime in. And it's usually a reader who has posted few if any comments.

Cheney is the most dangerous VP in history?

Cheney masks will be flyin' off the shelves the next few weeks.

I don't know what you guys are watching but I am not very sanguine on a President McCain right now. She has really missed some openings.

435 womball  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 7:19:57pm

Now she is hamming it up a bit too much.

She's on her best behavior because she's on notice that she's being watched.

That's true.

How many times has Joe said "number one...number two" so far?

I have to say the low expectations for Palin are working wholly to her advantage.

She seems like a natural debater. Joe seems tired and hectoring. The quintessential boring wonk.

Aaron Burr was the most dangerous Vice President, at least according to Alexander Hamilton

443 Biff  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 7:22:21pm

Why isn't she attacking Obama like she did at the convention.

"The worst catastrophe would be electing Barack Obama and here is why ..."

Why is Sarah sounding like McCain instead of Sarah? She's playing it way too safe. What would Rudy say?

Play it to win Sarah! Beat the hell out of the other guys. Not this conciliatory bs.

Say it now ... Barack Obama is the most dangerous candidate in the history of the country!

Sarah Palin's responses have excited my senses in every positive way regarding how I view how governers should govern.

Those random chunks of meat you are seeing alongside the road are what's left of Joe Biden after he was respectfully dissected by a true master of love and country and the way to defend it.

Sorry, Joe. you didn't make it. Don't feel bad, I wouldn't have made it either.

Biden just said:

"You're very kind, suggesting my only achilles heal is my lack of disciplne....I'm not going to CHANGE, I have 30 - uh-five years in public office - people can judge who I am, I haven't changed in that time..."

This, from a man who's running on the promise of CHANGE?

This is too easy.

I love this website. What does it matter how many times I've commented? These so-called 'debates' are a travesty and an embarrassment as far as political discourse goes. Since they are "scored" in the eyes of the viewing public, my opinion is that there is no clear winner in this one.

Do you run this place? Should I get your permission to post something or can I just do it when I feel like it?

This is painful. Biden is an idiot, given, and Palin is not, to paraphrase Chris Matthews, making my leg tingle. These are two unimpressive people. I could kick Biden's butt just with the info I've gotten from this site. C'Mon let's see some red meat. If there are any real conservatives left in this country I would advise you to invest in shovels because after the election in November we're are probably going to have to bury all our money and ammo. 'Be afraid, be very afraid!'
