The poll's open to all, by the way, so there are going to be some koolaid drinkers voting for Biden.

Palin crushed Biden's head. It was almost hard to watch. Not even close.

27 uptight  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 8:47:48pm

I fear our poll might be slanted towards palin. I suggest we employ a weighting factor of -5% and an error margin of +/- 1% to give us a more accurate picture.

Using methods pioneered by the Lancet, this gives Palin a minimum lead of 94% to Biden's 6% - a far more accurate picture of the debater respective performances.

I'll phone this through to the MSN newsdesks

44 Pawn of the Oppressor  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 8:50:31pm

I put up a Biden vote, because somebody ought to. Hey man, dissent is the highest form of Patriotism!

Seriously, in terms of campaign strategy, I think Biden hammered the McCain ticket pretty hard. "John really voted this way, John really voted that way, look at his record, the woman to my left is lying", he kept saying it, he kept getting away with it, and it came across pretty good, considering. McCain needs to respond to that, like, yesterday. Enough with the broad Maverick bullshit, he needs to start talking specifics and blow this McBush thing out of the air. Obama and Biden are going to run with this "empty rhetoric" strategy against McCain. The McP ticket needs to pull out the knife and get cuttin'.

Well, I'm not so sure how well that's really going to work, considering how many Republicans know how McCain has crossed the aisle so many times (pissing us off!), and Democrats know that too. If you want a center-right government, McCain's going to be the guy. If you're looking for Marxism-lite, the Dear Leader 0bama needs your vote.

We did slow down, yes. But keep in mind - at this time last year, we would have been offline all night with this kind of traffic.

A load balanced setup would help, but it brings a whole host of issues along with it, not least of which is the fact that it would cost about three times per month what I'm currently paying for my mortgage. In other words, big bucks.

Sandra Bernhard denies issuing Sarah Palin 'gang rape' warning
BY KORIN MILLER

Rothenberg for News
Sandra Bernhard
Outspoken comedienne Sandra Bernhard has shot down earlier reports that she said Sarah Palin would be "gang-raped by my big black brothers" if she enters Manhattan.
"I never said 'gang-raped' and I never used 'rape,' " Bernhard told the Daily News on Thursday.
The funnywoman was widely criticized after reportedly making the remark in her opening monologue during a show last month at Washington, D.C.'s Theater J.

Hey all y'all - from the AP no less:

Palin stands her ground in VP debate with Biden

ST. LOUIS - Under intense scrutiny, Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin stood her ground Thursday night against a vastly more experienced Joe Biden, debating the economy, energy and global warming, then challenging him on Iraq, "especially with your son in the National Guard."

The Alaska governor also noted that Biden had once said Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama wasn't ready to be commander in chief, "and I know again that you opposed the move that he made to try to cut off funding for the troops and I respect you for that."

The poll's open to all, by the way, so there are going to be some koolaid drinkers voting for Biden.

Palin crushed Biden's head. It was almost hard to watch. Not even close.

My nonpolitical wife (who didn't watch, only listened) agrees.
As does Drudge (a nice mix of liberals and conservatives).

My call: Palin, hands down. I'll sleep well tonight.

As I said to my better half, "Like I told a pollster, I'm voting for Palin, not the other three".

True, Biden got his licks in, but he more than negated them with those whoppers that fell out of his mouth.

I was disappointed that Ms. Palin did not lay the heavy lumber where it belonged as regards CRAs, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, etc. They were big fat softballs waiting be hit back.

See, that's exactly it - Sarah dogged him on some things, and she DID, FINALLY (for the first time in months) call out the McSame meme as being irritating, if not false. But she could have brutalized Obama on Fannie Mae, etc., shoved ACORN up Joe's tailpipe until he was coughing out squirrels, burned his whole ticket down to the ground by really hammering the McBush bullshit with withering sarcasm, and explicitly distanced both herself and McCain from Bush as best as possible. She indirectly acknowledged some of these things but didn't pursue them.

Nobody's perfect, and maybe she wanted to keep it civil and not seem bitchy. But Biden hit McCain/Palin at least as hard as Palin hit Obama/Biden. So I give an edge to Joe, for slightly better political strateegery.

In terms of character and appeal, though, Palin wins it by a mile.

The only performance from Joe Biden was from his botox. It froze his entire face so that his head didn't spinnig around and spit pea soup every time he got pissed at something Sarah said that he didn't like.

Fortunately, it also froze his head so Smiky McSmirk Smirk could control himself while he was sneering the rest of the time. Or leering.

I think that Palin did a terrific job and that bin Biden was his usual windbag of mediocrity.
Last hour or so I've been watching the resident ideologues at CNN. They reluctantly admit that she performed well or beyond (their) expectations, while simultaneously trying to convince the viewer (and themselves, I think) that her performance can't possibly help the GOP in the polls. Of course, a bad performance would have cost McCain large but a good one can't really help. Always pathetic levels of bias at the marxist fellating CNN.

As far as Gwen Ifill goes - she was fine, and did a professional job. I have no complaints as far as her moderation is concerned.
She appeared professional moderate but I tend to think that was a result of her being effectively neutered by the last couple of days of controversy regarding her blatant conflict of interest. If she would have assumed default mode she would have been the attack dog against things conservative, especially Sarah Palin. And that would have been very damaging to her career. She acted in self-preservation, not out of any sense of fairness or moderation.

That was simply beautiful...

Palin, though she seemed a bit nervous at times, was composed, calm, and cheerful.

Biden, who has the absolute worst poker face ever, looked cranky and squinty (seriously, Joe, Botox?), and was making those creepy stalker smug heavy breathing noises into his mike when Palin was talking, and would then get all angry and go on teh bushrant, even after she told him not to. I have been politically active since 1976. The only candidate that ever came close to speaking for me was Ronald Reagan. His ideas were my ideas. His vision of America was my vision.

In Sarah , I have those same ideas, that same vision, but in the form of a woman, a mother of a soldier, a woman with a handicapped family member, a conservative, and evangelical, a supporter of Israel and a strong pro-life voice. She is ME. I have REPRESENTATION.

Heck - if it were not for that whole beauty queen thing, we could be twins.

I'd rather die than vote for a fucking Alinskyite Marxist punk bitch like Obama, so let's clear that up right now. His little Mocha Messiah ass should stick to playing President on TV, where he belongs.

But I am from the Northeast, I understand how those people think, I'm a centrist/libertarian myself, and I don't want the Republicans to trip over their own shoes. Repubs are at least as cringe- and sigh-inducing as the Dems, at their worst, and I hate seeing them miss opportunities to burn down the house just so they can feel good about their own mom-and-apple-pie kinder-and-kueche talk.

Call the bastards out, kneecap them, don't let them get away with it. Sarah is a great start, but McCain needs to start putting sidewinders up Commie exhaust pipes here.

First post on LGF, but alas, as Devil's Advocate:

Biden spoke better than Palin. Not to say he didn't go off topic less than she did, but he disguised it better. Palin got caught having to agree with Biden every other minute. Didn't challenge his assertions, didn't call him on making up numbers out of thin air. Almost called him on threatening to prosecute former Bush administration officials, but didn't quite make it. I pray she's not as McCainified as she appeared.

re: #121 realwest

I think McCain would have a hard time bringing up CRA/CArter/Acorn and all unless there were more info about it in the MSM leading up to the debate.

People, unfortunately, don't want to go back that far in history. (Realize that most people an only remember who won American Idol 2 years ago and that many of the electorate weren't speaking in sentences when Carter was in Office). To buy alcohol in most states one has to have been born in 1987.

There has been a big lack of history teaching in public schools. If the listeners weren't pre-educated about the whole mess, they'd just assume that McCain was lieing and blaming Carter/Clinton. Because, you know Jimmah is that nice old man that builds houses . . . ..

Bill Clinton seems also to be working against Obambi, so bringing him into the mess may not be a good idea.

Good lord. I don't care what your political ideology, Palin may have passed tonight, but she is the most uninformed VP candidate we've ever had on national and international issues in my entire life. Maybe she's a good governor of Alaska, but that's about it.

I know that if she wasn't McCain's VP everyone here would be ripping her a new asshole. You can be conservative, love McCain, even vote for him... but claiming Sarah makes you proud to be a republican is simply dishonest. Grow a pair and call a spade a spade.

On pure capitalist/individual rights basis I can find lots of fault with what she said, but in the context of our times, I think she did a good job. And, for crying out loud, she is much more qualified than either Obama or Biden. That should be obvious to anyone who is real world oriented. And man does she have a great sense of life.

Hey, I'd love to see Thomas Jefferson and James Madison running, but we live in times where lofty ideas by giants aren't going to be listened to.

I was frustrated that Biden seemed to get the last word on most topics, leaving his accusatory statements hanging un-rebutted.

And while the content of Biden's speech was all B.S., I have to admit, he sounded a bit more sure of himself than Governor Palin, who came across--at least initially--as somewhat nervous (although that may be attributable to her quick way of talking and her naturally high-pitched voice).

Palin arguably held her own, but it wasn't enough; I'm hoping McCain will cream Obama in the next two debates.

Not to mention all of the times that Biden spoke on the record in praise of McCain as a maverick and a bipartisan.

Note that Palin used that strategy actively in this debate: she criticized Biden's past positions, knowing that he is constitutionally incapable of admitting his past position was wrong and is compulsively driven to defend HIMSELF at the expense of his TICKET. He was defensive and he misspoke, and he set her up to win.

AH, ONE MORE THING:

Something we need to keep pounding on, to hammer away at the "Joe Biden, foreign policy sooper-genius" meme:

So apparently, under the Bush Administration, "we and the French threw Hizballah out of Lebanon, but then let them back in, and wouldn't let NATO in".

What THE F**K was Biden talking about?! This alleged foreign policy guru is just making shit up. Incredible.

I do hope the conservative blogosphere and media keep that one alive. Biden told a massive whopper, or displayed astounding ignorance, or both.

Maybe FDR threw Hizballah out of Lebanon just prior to his 1929 televised fireside chat?

Oh yeah, that whole Hezbo/Palestine thing was about five whole paragraphs of Dubyah-Tee-Eff. "What is he even talking about?"

- I don't recall anybody worrying about Hamas winning elections until AFTER they won. In fact, I thought Hamas was "moderate" and "represented the people"?

- What happened to Hezbo being a "social organization"? What's with a Democrat calling them bad? Didn't Biden just flush Dearborn down the toilet for Obama?

- What is this bullshit about Bush policy towards Israel/Palestine being a failure, and that McCain is more of the same? Uh, hello, Condi and Bush are swinging BACK to the Bush/Baker/State Dept. line, which has been a proven failure for as long as Biden has been working in Washington... Now even Bush's Palestinian policy is tainted somehow? Buhwah?

- Are we admitting that Hezbo is an Iranian proxy now?

Biden and Obama are both really intent on dumping their base to sound knowledgeable on these matters... They're not just flip-flopping, they're making it all up on the fly. It's amazing.

re: #178 ggt
I understand what you're saying, but one of the reasons for a presidential debate is to inform the public.
Seems to me it would take John Mcain about one minute (and probably less) to say "in 1998, the Democratic Congress signed the Community Reinvestment Act which REQUIRED LENDERS to make mortgage loans to borrowers with bad Credit. Senator Obama was not yet a US Senator, but he hasn't spoken out about this CRA, WHICH STARTED THE WHOLE SUBPRIME MORTGAGE CRISIS and I'd like to know what he thinks of it?" He could leave out Carter and ACORN and just hit Obama with it - either Obama won't know about it (hard to believe but with the king of er's,ah's and uh's you can never tell) or won't know what to say about it. And if Obama DOES know about it and says it was designed to help poor minority folks to own their own home, then McCain could easily say "Oh, I get it, tax folks making over $250,000, but give poor credit risks a mortgage that the taxpayers will have to bail out. I'll ask you what my running mate asked your running mate last Thursday - how long do you intend to wage class warfare on America?"!
YEAH, there's enough time for that. Even if we aren't rich (boy ain't that the truth) we'd like our children to have the chance to become rich. Class warfare won't play well; it didn't tonight and Biden actually grimmaced when Palin mentioned it.

Not as high as others on Palin tonight. She had an opportunity to take some heads regarding the Wall Street Mess and simply repeated McCain's corruption mantra. Why not quip at Barack's benefiting from them? A brief, throw-away line? Biden would have been forced to spend his entire answer defending or refuting that statement.

Then, on Global Warming.

Not. Good.

No different than any moderate democrat.

You and me agree exactly.

Obama's cards are all on the table now. All his angles of attack are revealed through the first debate, and this one. McSame, McBush, not really a maverick, we care so much about regular folks, and oh yes, we will tell any lie we need to in order to sound like Black JFK with a dash of Reagan...

Another Biden lie posted at NRO.

Most ridiculous and downright strange was his contention that the Bush administration let Hezbollah into Lebanon, and then when “we threw them out” – whatever that means, he and Obama said NATO should go in but nobody took them up on it and now Hezbollah was all over Lebanon and that’s a problem. What?

Well, Hezbollah’s been there since the early 1980’s of course, blossoming throughout the 1990’s to become now over a third of the population of Lebanon with 2 cabinet members, a host of parliamentarians, and schools, clinics, and basically an entirely separate governance infrastructure in all of southern Lebanon and elsewhere. I suppose the throwing out of Hezbollah was the dismal and failed Israeli campaign of 2006 which dislodged nothing? Or was it Israeli’s occupation of Southern Lebanon from 1982 – 1999? Don’t remember an Obama position on NATO replacing Israeli occupation then. As for NATO going in after the 2006 debacle, well, I’m the one who rounded up 8,000 French and Italians and a few thousand other Euros to go into Southern Lebanon along with an assortment of others in August 2006 and while working that issue for about 40 straight days I don’t remember a peep from Biden or Obama about NATO – which wouldn’t be budged despite our intense pressure in Mons. So, we went straight to Rome and Paris. Que sera, sera.

In any case, he was all bluff and bluster and too bad she didn’t have time during debate prep to get his very mixed record on foreign policy stuff, he’s as good as he is bad at foreign policy and that is just a comment on his mastery, not on his policy positions…which have been more bad than good.

First, Biden is so well-informed that he can be dead wrong on EVERY issue.

Second, Palin demonstrated tonight that she has a passable grasp of the issues, foreign and domestic -- and a far better grasp than Obama has.

Third, I admire Palin more than I do McCain, and she makes me prouder to be a Republican than he does.

292 Globular Cluster  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 9:23:41pm

In some sense I agree with the pundits that Biden did a technially better job from a strict debating standpoint. The only problem is that it is hard to know to what extent he was lying about all the "facts" that he brought up. I think he lied more than just these 14 instances cited, and Sarah called him on, saying that the pundits would fact check him.

On the other hand, Sarah I think connected well with "ordinary" Americans and to the extent that not losing is winning, Sarah won.

On the whole, however, I am extremely disappointed in the McCain campaign because they are not attacking. They are not demolishing the lies that the Obama campaign is spitting constantly, especially about the Fannie/Freddie fiasco, which is a Democrat problem.

There was so much more that Palin could have said to refute Biden and she didn't do it. The McCain campaign is clearly not listening to anyone on this blog or anywhere/anyone else. Hannity gave a great example on his radio show on how to respond to the Biden, had he been debating. Nobody listened.

That is gonna leave a lasting mark.

Vatican official attacks U.S. Democrats as “party of death”

Burke, who was named prefect of the Vatican’s Supreme Court of the Apostolic Signature in June, told the Italian Catholic newspaper Avvenire that the U.S. Democratic Party risked “transforming itself definitively into a party of death for its decisions on bioethical issues.” He then attacked two of the party’s most high profile Catholics — vice presidential candidate Joe Biden and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi — for misrepresenting Church teaching on abortion.

He said Biden and Pelosi, “while presenting themselves as good Catholics, have presented Church doctrine on abortion in a false and tendentious way.”

AH, ONE MORE THING:

Something we need to keep pounding on, to hammer away at the "Joe Biden, foreign policy sooper-genius" meme:

What THE F**K was Biden talking about?! This alleged foreign policy guru is just making shit up. Incredible.

I do hope the conservative blogosphere and media keep that one alive. Biden told a massive whopper, or displayed astounding ignorance, or both.

Maybe FDR threw Hizballah out of Lebanon just prior to his 1929 televised fireside chat?

Should I tell you why I moved to Texas as soon as I was able? :)

Massachusetts is the only state that's posting a net loss of its (legal, registered U.S. citizen) population. There are many reasons. The prissy, un-self-conscious arrogance of the Northeastern Elitists is about #6 on my personal list. I got sick to death of it.

As I am from Texas, may i be the first to welcome you to our nice little state.
As you are not a liberal,I will just say,"Stay to the right" You will be fine.

So you see they have a history.

re: #278 neocon hippie

Naturally, most Mccain-Palin supporters are going to think she did better, while Obama supporters (I can't believe anyone's truly excited about Biden) will think Biden did better. The question is those elusive independent and/or undecided voters. I do think this is a good kick in the pants for the McCain campaign. Hopefully the whining throughout the blogosphere will a least take a break.

I think Palin came out better with independents because she was competent. She was everything the msm says she wasn't. She had a good grasp on the subjects and on foreign policy was just as good as Biden, and that was supposed to be her weak spot.

She came across as charming and just one of us. I think that will speak to a lot of people. She completely debunked the myth the msm has painted her as, and it's the msm who lost tonight.

Then, on Global Warming.

Not. Good.

No different than any moderate democrat.

It's a perfectly sensible answer. "We see the effects" - true, there is tundra melt up there. "Some of it may be man-made" - possibly true. "I'm not going to go in circles arguing causes" - good. "We need all-of-the-above energy reform" - also true.

The carbon caps thing, ehhhh, that sucked.

Unfortunately IMO Biden hit it out of the park with his very Republican answer, "Let's sell clean coal tech to China for a profit", dammit, has he been reading my mind? What an astoundingly free-market, sensible, rational idea. Everyone wins. Way too smart an idea to have come from a Democrat. He stole some thunder with that one.

I understand there are Pentagon and State Department Funds that are "off-the-books" for good reason. It's the continual siphon of fees and fines and other "official" income that freaks me out. the idea that the stock market could lose a trillion dollars a day in lost business (1/3 of the National budget) and most of us are gleefully unaffected --the enormity of the wealth of this country is scary in the opportunity for a tyrant.

Oh I was referring to the slush that our elected officials are without a doubt stealing. Probably makes the trillion dollars lost in business chump change by comparison. Seeing those figures and to whom they went and when is what would undoubtedly get you killed.

We hope there are more of you - it is ok, you can say she is cute (sort of like how Joe Paschi said to Fred Gwynne in "My cousin Vinny" - "and, she 's kinda cute..."

Real women like other women. They can admit when other women are beautiful and accomplished without being jealous.

I am surprised how many women who claim they are feminsits can't do this simple thing. Can't be happy for other women's gifts. The only women they support are the ones who can't support themselves. It makes them feel powerful to show other women they can be generous. They get to be all sisterly.

But the minute another woman pulls out front, shows some moxie, becomes accomplished, is beautiful?

Tear her down!

Only a few chosen women, those who follow the rules, play the politically correct game will be endorsed by this crowd. And those women are often not the most accomplished, not the most successful, not the most gifted. Because being gifted is so unfair, and that's not in the feminist/socialist playbook.

I believe I learned the phrase "Women's Status Cannibalism" from a post here at LGF and I have never forgotten it.

I like the old definition of feminism: "The radical notion that women are people."

Many feminists forgot that.

re: #152 PuritanicalRightWingNutjob

First post on LGF, but alas, as Devil's Advocate:

Biden spoke better than Palin. Not to say he didn't go off topic less than she did, but he disguised it better. Palin got caught having to agree with Biden every other minute. Didn't challenge his assertions, didn't call him on making up numbers out of thin air. Almost called him on threatening to prosecute former Bush administration officials, but didn't quite make it. I pray she's not as McCainified as she appeared.

Palin agreed with Biden about the things Biden disagreed with Obama on. Like when he criticized Obama for voting to defund the troops.

Palin slammed Biden and Obama for being big government tax-and-spend job killers.

As for calling Biden out on his misstatements, no need. The highlight reel is already in production and the debunking will be much more detailed and thorough than Palin could have managed.

Perhaps, I still think the public will have to be prepped for the whole CRA debacle --which will of course give Obambi time to make a suitable sounding lie. I think that if McCain can get Obambi to admit that many of the banks were pressured into giving loans to those that didn't qualify because of fears of discrimination lawsuits --that would be a big, big score for the truth.

I was at a bar in downtown Minneapolis tonight, featuring the debate on live tv. I was intrigued that such a thing would even occur, really. Live political debate as the entertainment? Are you serous?

I wanted to encourage such a thing, so I jumped in. Thank you AM1280 - The Patriot. Thank you, Ed Morrissey, Chad The Elder, Michael Brodkorb, and you other cats whose name does not come to me - mostly because the Stoli martinis at Trocodero's are freakin' awesome.

Not many honeys in the group tonight, but an enthusiastic, and well-informed crowd. Whoulda thunk this kind of thing would work in a bar?

Highlight of the night? I noticed a biker dude with a Patriot Guard patch on his leather vest. I pulled him aside and told him how much their efforts are appreciated across the blogosphere. He reminded me who the heroes are, which I acknowledged, but also reminded him, as we all can appreciate, that he was the hero for those heroes, and thanked him on your behalf. He was a great and humble guy.

And, DAMN! Did Sarah EVER kick Joe Biden's ass all over that stage tonight? She had his ass on the ropes from the opening bell.

I also discovered something, as did Slow Joe - when Sarah pauses a bit; offers up that toothy smilel shakes that 'sexy librarian tress' out of her eye and gives a wink...

However, I still consider myself just as well informed (if not moreso) as the typical 0bama supporter.

/How is the MSM DinoMedia spinning this one?

They are doing a copycat of Joe Biden.... In other words... lying their fat socialist/communists/liberal asses off...

You define the parameters. She sure solidified me, but she has from the beginning. I can't see her without getting solidified. She was spouting McCain's talking points but the Sarah factor still shone through,.

re: #373 looking closely

I turned off the debate about halfway through, literally in disgust, but I'm afraid that Biden's lies beat Palins truths.

Still voted for Palin above, though.

You missed the best parts. Sarah Palin made a far better connection with the audience. Biden looked progressively older and weaker.

400 Eric Cartman's Conscience  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 9:38:59pm

McCain and Palin Blew It

How many missed opportunities to lay blame where it belongs!? Palin did it again tonight talking about "wall street".

All we needed was ONE! Just ONE republican official to simply say "we want to work hard to fix this current crisis. But we can't in good faith go forward with our business until Barney Frank and Chris Dodd recuse themselves from all meetings". The resultant shit storm would have forced the public to actually ask what did they do. Instead, our officials implicitly accept the blame by their unwillingness to fight. Tonight, Palin wasn't Palin, but was McCain's VP choice. That's no longer good enough.

The point is the poll I cited showing a Biden win was not an internet poll, in the sense of self-selected responders to poll questions on websites, but a legitimate scientific poll.

403 doriangrey  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 9:40:04pm

re: #334 Mr. Sandman

The thing is the polls being discussed on the news are not "silly internet polls," but scientific ones based on as random of a sample as can be feasibly got. So polls like the CNN one showing Biden winning the debate 51% to 36% actually do have legitimacy in estimating the opinion makeup of the population of debate-watchers. Now, that they are showing a public perception that Biden solidly won surprises me; I was more pessimistic (optimistic from your point of view) and thought they would be more evenly split. Looks like this is even more bad news for Mccain.

re: #394 Pawn of the Oppressor

I think she did a pretty good job, considering, though. No hateful looks to Palin. Congenial tone. One sharp cutoff of Palin's answer while she was trying to call BS, and a bit of fawn in her manner to Biden. But other than that, surprisingly un-obvious.

I would like a lip-reader to tell us what Biden & Palin were saying to one another after it was over. She looked like she wanted to pick a fight with him, and his manner was a little bit condescending.

I'm curious also about what Palin & Biden's Hot Daughter were talking about. They looked to be joking around a little bit.

Her mike was partially on when she crossed the stage to shake hands after the debate -- she thanked him.

re: #103 needlestack

More brilliance from the Obamatrons.

Now go back to mommy's basement with your Cheetos & Coke.

406 Catttt  Thu, Oct 2, 2008 9:40:29pm

This liberal blogger predicted Palin would win.

This part cracks me up:

Hopefully, Joe Biden will be boringly dull. That's what he needs to be. If he errs and reverts to type, he will be long-winded, patronising and boring while spraying around gaffes like confetti.

re: #385 Cartman

There is NO internet poll that is scientific. None. Nada. Zip.

Actually, there is, but they are difficult and very expensive, and I am way too drunk to explain.

Most everything that you see as a "internet poll" is crap. You can't polish a turd and hope to pick it up by a clean end, but you can restrict your sample. Even that is not fool proof.

re: #348 JacksonTn

Was Biden about to cry when he was talking about taking care of his sons? I feel for him but if it had been Sarah geez........ we would never have heard the end of it .......... a woman tearing up ....... oh she's not ready for the job. I may be wrong but I thought I saw him tearing up.

Yes he did tear up, but was when talking about losing his wife and kids in car wreck. I am sorry he lost his family, no one can know that pain unless you have been through it.
Nonetheless, It was a Hilary moment, and kiss of death for the Zero, Biden, and all of em. IMO, they lost it right there.

No, later they were talking for a good thirty seconds or so and he was leaning in a bit trying to look parental. She looked like she wanted to say something rough, but couldn't.

"You did real good for a small town girl. I dated a girl with legs like yours once."

"The last guy who talked to me like that ended up jobless. You're lucky there's only one debate, bub."
