Biden's Lies, Ignored by Media

Politics | Fri, Oct 3, 2008 at 3:17:38 pm PDT

We’ve posted five articles now about serious mistakes and/or outright lies in Joe Biden’s performance last night—but if you read what the mainstream media have written about the debate, you won’t find a single one of these falsehoods. The media have almost unanimously declared Biden the winner, and they’re ignoring his lies to focus on bashing Sarah Palin in article after article like this one from TIME magazine: Why Some Women Hate Sarah Palin.

Here are the five articles we’ve posted, backed up with video evidence and citations from media or the Obama campaign’s own statements:

Biden Lied About Supporting ‘Clean Coal’
Biden Lied About Obama Not Supporting Hamas Election
Biden Doesn’t Know the Difference Between Gaza and the West Bank
Biden’s Lebanon Nonsense
Biden’s Big Lie

UPDATE at 10/3/08 3:36:01 pm:

The Associated Press assigned five writers to “fact check” the debate, but somehow they missed every single one of these lies and gaffes: Some facts adrift in veep debate.

Not up to the MSM -- or, more accurately, no one can expect the MSM to do that job anymore, now that journalistic ethics and standards are dead and gone. The RNC and the McCain campaign have to create and run the ads showing Biden's debate-night lies side-by-side with his own words demonstrating the opposite.

re: #18 Athos

Ya think the MSM might have an agenda at play here?

Of course they do. As Hannity says, "2008, the year journalism died".

Years ago (Bush I re-election campaign), my husband was photographing an event where President GHB was speaking - it was a large manufacturing plant in So. California. Hubby said the hall was filled with people, response was terrific, everyone cheering, lots and lots of applause and standing ovations. Hubby (not a political buff AT ALL), said it was a rousing speech. News depts were there covering so we watched news that night to see the speech.

What was shown on TV was NO crowd reactions, NO view of the crowd - it looked like he was speaking in front of a dozen or so - and they parsed his speech to such an extent that he looked like a bored has-been. Then they switched to coverage of a Clinton event and everywhere there were cheering crowds!

So Journalism died long before 2008, it's just never been so transparent and all encompassing.

re: #10 MJBrutus

For my entire life, I never really believed that it could happen here. I was acquainted with Stalin and Orwell's novels, but I never thought that I could actually see it happen here before my eyes in the US of A.

It is happening here because we were complacent, for the most part. We over-indulges, and believed that could not happen here. Whitaker Chambers called it back in the 30s when he said that the media was in the pocket for the Stalinists. Academia absorbed the pseudo-intelligentsia -- changing the system from within. Entertainment was always populated by irrational, touch-feely, liberal whiners and hand wringers ... Guilty Caucasian types from the Perenially Persecuted Complexed Jewish and Jesusless Christian tribes. It was the slow boil and the lobsters did not know they were being cooked until it was too late. If we are going to change things, if we are going to deny these anti-life scumbags a final victory, then I am afraid the gloves must come off. But how many of here are truly willing and able to go that distance and play full out? It is true we are the keepers of the flame of the Constitution, especially the 1st and 2nd Amendments -- is that time coming?

70 Captkirk35  Fri, Oct 3, 2008 3:40:31pm

Here's the question McCain can ask in the next debate that will win him the election:

“I think we can all agree that it’s the small business man and women who represents the heart and soul of the American economy. It’s on their shoulders, far away from the trader floor on Wall Street, or the corporate board rooms, that future job growth will largely occur. When Senator Obama speaks of ‘only raising taxes on the wealthy’, or those making two-hundred and Fifty Thousand dollars a year or more, understand that a large number of these small businesses fall under this umbrella, will see their taxes rise, and the prospect of forging ahead made more challenging with an additional burden of their hard-earned income sent to Washington. Senator, Obama, please tell us how your economic plan, which you characterize as taxing the rich only, will make the lives better of these small business men and women, and how this plan will make our economy stronger?”

Long story.

So I will be voting for McCain/Palin in North Carolina instead of California.

It's a much better use of my vote, I think.

Perhaps we need a list compiled and published (of course, the method of publishing is critical -- maximum exposure across the electorate, which is hard to get if you're not the MSM.)

On one side, selected statements by the MSM's Obamatons. On the other, the facts, with links.

My (metaphorical) image of it is something like the dread smoking memo, presenting the two sides in crystal clarity. I don't know if that kind of impact is achievable or not in this case.

Sarah Palin: Poorer than Joe Biden, but more Charitable.

Sen. Biden and his wife, Jill, reported $320,000 in adjusted gross income last year. Their tax returns, released earlier this year, were notable for how little they gave to charity: $995, or less than 1% of their income.

The Palins gave $4,880 to charity in 2006 and $3,325 last year, including items donated to the Salvation Army.

Sarah Palin is the breadwinner of the family, the documents show. Last year as Alaska governor she reported $122,000 in the "Medicare wages" field of her W-2 form, while Todd Palin earned $46,600 as an employee of BP Exploration Alaska Inc. The couple reported payments of $3,308 from the Alaska Permanent Fund, a dividend that every citizen of the state receives from oil revenues.

Now I think it was a Cheshire Cat smile, knowing the fix is in and it's working. He could say anything he wanted because he knows the media won't call him on it. He knows the messiah aura is protecting him from scrutiny. I'd be smilin' too.

re: #58 MJBrutus

Your remarks are well taken, except I would like some clarification on the "anti-life scumbag" bit. Just so you know, I am an atheist and would like to see laws that allow a woman to choose abortion, at least through the early months of a pregnancy. I think that the Roe decision was a terrible one and find our Constitution supports neither a "pro-life" or "pro-choice" position.

Fair enough Brutus. Being atheist does not automatically mean you are anti-life, just as being a so-called Christian, Jew or Muslim makes you pro-life by default. I personally believe abortion is is anti-life and I sometimes have to wonder if the death penalty is altogether just -- is it justice or vengeance? But I say anti-life when perhaps I should say anti-truth. The forces on the Left hate this country, and I believe they hate life because they hate the idea of a Creator. they hate the idea that there is something supernal to them. You say you are an atheist, but does that mean you consider yourself the highest form of life in the universe, or does that mean you have not come to terms with a concept of deity and a system for approaching the divine? The people I rail against deny anything that may indicate that there may be a higher authority, that there may something else beside their inflated sense of ego.

Not sure that clarifies anything, but your point is well taken regarding 'anti-life' as descriptor.

re: #103 MandyManners

Speaking of Iraq, AP has just endorsed the cornerstone of the Bush admin foreign policy:

Analysis: Stable Iraq could influence Mideast

Gee, d'ya think?

BAGHDAD - As violence in Iraq recedes, neighboring states are pondering how to deal with an unwieldy country that could re-emerge as a key player along with Saudi Arabia and Iran in one of the world's most strategic regions.

Still, countries of the Middle East cannot ignore the potential role of a resurgent Iraq, a nation of 28 million people, bordering Iran to the east, Syria and Jordan to the west and sitting on one of the world's major pools of oil.

For those reasons, the United States cannot afford to lose focus on Iraq, which will remain a strategic and important country even after the last of the 140,000 American soldiers have gone home.

Iraq is likely to play a significant role in America's Middle East policy for decades — even as the Pentagon scales down military operations here and ramps them up in Afghanistan.

Wow. Break out your very best flying pig folks...

There's another mistake I think Biden made.
He said Article 1 of the Constitution was all about the VP and the Executive Branch of government. ("And I want everyone to understand that!" he yelled) That's not true either, is it? Article 1 of the Constitution deals with the Legislative Branch of the government doesn't it? He said this during his rant about Dick Chaney being dangerous.

From the Time article above:

Women are weapons-grade haters. Hillary Clinton knows it. Palin knows it too. When women get their hate on, they don't just dislike, or find disfavor with, or sort of not really appreciate. They loathe - deeply, richly, sustainingly...

Now what is the use of writing like this? Does it do any good? Is it Christian? Or is it even good in a general sense? Does it encourage us to be any better? Where would writing like this come from, as a source? What kind of a world does it want? Where would we be if writing like this was the only writing? Is it telling the truth?

Hmmm, reading some books on the Civil War, the press was considerably more vicious than it is today. Freedom without responsibility is anarchy and the press needs to be held accountable with what gets published.

I believe we will see that. I think this is the medias last shot at relevancy in an Internet world.

Unfortunately we will still need reporters (not journalists), as bloggers with the exception of a few, can only report what they find on the wires services.

192 Lizard by the Bay  Fri, Oct 3, 2008 4:15:42pm

The fix is in, but it doesn't really need to be anymore. Republicans don't want to fight to win elections. They just want to act genteel, get depressed when the other side doesn't play it genteel, and simply do nothing when the press lies, their opponents lie, and they start having to go along with the big lies because they spent so long not countering them.

Screw the Republican party. I didn't give them a cent this year. Why should I let them waste my money when I know they don't fight to win anything? Why should I give money to the political equivalent of battered housewives or abused puppies, who only roll over and lick the hands of the media and Dems who just kick them some more?

It's one thing to say, "I wish the Republicans would stop bringing swords to a gunfight," but really if they showed up with swords, knives, letter-openers, or even sporks it would be an improvement. This year they've shown up for the election season withn nothing but limp dicks in their hands. For the party that actually endorses Viagra, I've never seen so many limp dicks in my life.

They deserve to lose this year. Actually, they deserve to lose every year until they're prepared to fight again. Perhaps the party needs a cleansing. Vote out all the old blood, and keep them out of office till they die off, or dry up and blow away. Then maybe there will be a new generation of Conservatives with fire in their bellies. One can dream.

But I'm through with McCain. Actually, I'm through with all of them. McCain for quitting Michigan. This whole election comes down to winning 2 out of 3 critical swing states (MI, PA, OH), and McCain just pissed one away, giving him no margin for error in PA (all of this is assuming he wins FL, which he may not now). He's toast. Then there's all the better candidates (Giuliani, Romney) who ran such shockingly bad, head-up-their-asses primary campaigns. Really, '08 has been a piss poor year for the GOP, and Obama will successfully blame any of his poor performance in years 1 and 2 on Bush, so forget '10 too. Someone wake me in '12 if our party has found its balls by them.

LOL. In my opinion, the government we rebelled against was the embodiment of government based on deistic ideals. I believe that the thinkers of the enlightenment as implemented by our founders have transformed Christianity, for one, more than many Christians I have had this discussion with would like to admit.

That is an interesting assertion, Brutus. Certainly, there was the presence of the Church, and of some kind of religiosity in the colonization of the Americas and the subsequent governing of those qualities -- jeez, they all invoked God or some other derivative often enough, neh?
But I would disagree that our Founders rebelled against a deity or deistic ideas per se; is Nature's God not mentioned in the very first paragraph and the Creator in second of the Declaration of Independence?

True enough, the Enlightenment paved the way to think about deity in less absolute terms. That era touched the truth whereby we could understand our relationship to a God that was benevolent, benign and of a spirit of liberty, not subjugation.

I think the problem is he's said so many of these things so often (e.g., the cost of Afghanistan relative to Iraq, off by 2000%) that not only Biden may believe them now, but so do those who have heard them often. This is a man with a genius for convincing himself that what he wants to be true is, and his gift is to make it sound convincing to others.

That's not to justify the media. But the very small window for them to catch any of these lies (I still prefer hallucinations, because they're that crazy) is long gone.

I find that feudalism and monarchy are direct consequences of the theology of St Augustine. The Kingdom of Heaven and the Kingdoms of Earth to mirror it. Certainly Locke and later Jefferson founded their conclusions on the notion that rights come to us from a creator.

I find that one can reach the same conclusion through secular reasoning. The way I get there (in a nutshell) is by noting that when we form a government, we all sacrifice a measure of liberty to gain the advantages of society. Since we all sacrifice an equal measure of our freedom, we are all entitled to an equal measure of justice and standing in that society.

From the link - is this statement factual?

S190 Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act

McCain was a co-sponsor along with Sen. Dole and Sununu. Introduced Jan. 26, 2005. Died in committee July 28, 2005. There are claims that McCain did not sign on to co-sponsor until he gave a speech in May 2006 trying to give new life to the bill (which wasn't technically dead - just caught in committee) and try to get it to a floor vote. The date of the speech is in the record, but according to Gov Tracks, when someone signs on / off as a co-sponsor isn't really tracked.

The Committee in 2005 was 20 members, 11 Repub, 9 Democrats. On a straight party vote, I would think that it would have moved to the floor where a fillbuster could have prevented a floor vote - but being "Ordered to be reported with an amendment in the nature of a substitute favorably." sounds to me as if it was placed on hold pending amendments by one of the committee members and then just sat in that status until the end of the 109th Congress in December 2006 when it officially died.

Does it really make any difference if McCain was on this in 2005 or 2006? After all 2006 is still before 2008 when it became apparent that reform was needed or that members of a certain party worked to block reform efforts of Fannie and Freddie?

I can understand your frustration but I read an article awhile back that addressed this - (sorry don't have it in a link) - but I think it was over at Redstate and it discussed the totally different approach that Republicans (conservatives) take to politics than the Liberals. It spoke to the fact that Republicans abhor the drama, the spin, the mudslinging. The article boiled it down to the fact that the Liberals equate politics with their LIVES - there's is a life struggle which dominates their very being. The Republicans on the other hand consider so many things paramount to them before the politics - family, faith, country, etc.

Bottom line the crux of the article said that Republicans are in Washington to get some necessary things done but they often would rather be elsewhere while the Liberals are there because it defines their life, it completes them. This is why Liberals hold nothing back and typically Republicans appear to not want to fight.

Anyway, I found it interesting and hopefully, I paraphrased well enough.

Anyway, I found it interesting and hopefully, I paraphrased well enough.

Republicans abhor the drama, the spin, the mudslinging.

I can agree with everything you posted, but it boils down to the same end game: Republicans are no longer willing to compete for votes like the Democrats do, and they will lose more and more elections as a result.

Let us be honest.

Journalism had reached the lowest common denominator. It is Hollywood for the less attractive. It is celebrity for those who want to change the world so they sell themselves. It has nothing to do with the pursuit of truth, only the passing along of the media's message, of going along to get along.

There is little to no integrity, no one out on a limb doing the hard work because they never get coverage, never get space, and not playing by all the rules pushes them off to the side. We have stopped asking questions...we don't want other's to know we don't know the answers. And we don't know history, we don't know geography, we don't know who we are, much less the remainder of the world.

We have been told we are the problem....but we are the solution. Things are going to get very much worse before they improve. I am not willing to leave a mess to the next generation without trying to fix things now.

Truth, honesty, taking on the hard decisions that Americans can make, we can return to the country described in those wonderful documents of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. We are blessed with them as the foundation of this great experiment and we need to return to them.

Seeing to it that Obama is not elected to the Presidency is a start. We must become our own media and make sure the message gets out.

NOBAMA.....

FBI investigates Obama's friend

Check out the creepy photo, too.

(Editor's note: The original version of this article has been corrected. The office of Larry D. Walsh was not raided.)

The FBI is investigating a former Illinois state senator who is a poker-playing buddy of Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama.

According to Chicago authorities, the FBI visited the offices in Joliet, Ill., of a Will County auditor to ask questions about Larry Walsh, a longtime friend of Mr. Obama's, and his chief of staff Matt Ryan.

Mr. Walsh, who served in the Illinois Senate from 1997 to 2005, was endorsed by Mr. Obama in his county executive election bid. With the support of some of Mr. Obama's U.S. Senate volunteers, he easily defeated incumbent Republican Joseph Mikan.

Will County auditor Steve Weber confirmed that his office had been asked by the FBI to assist in an investigation, but he did not elaborate on the specifics.

Two FBI agents out of Chicago reportedly spent more than an hour in the Will County offices on Wednesday morning.

According to sources, the Walsh investigation may be tied to lobbying firm Smith Dawson and Andrews, which was hired in 2006 for $10,000 per month to help Will County acquire federal grants.

If I might comment, too:

Actually, that perspective explains why the libs have gone so far out of what is considered logical and even factual in their attacks on Sarah Palin. They do not only disagree with her politics, they see her and feel her as a threat to their very existence. She is the antithesis of who they are - she is pro-life feminism, happily married wife, involved and loving mother of five kids, successful businesswoman and accomplished public servant. Add the hunting and fishing and other sportsman like activities, and that makes her full and vibrant life abhorrent to their sarcastic, cynical, elitist, "blame America first" attitudes.

She is down-to-earth, optimistic, loves America and is gorgeous.

They must smash her, destroy her. They can only fully live if she, and all she represents, is demolished.

While most of us see ourselves in her eyes, they see a condemnation of everything they stand for.

re: #6 Gang of One

What is left to say, really? The lines have been drawn, people have taken sides. This is not going to end well.

If it doesn't end well for us on November 4th, it may well end worse for the Dems by 2012. Obama isn't capable of organizing an effective administration, he has no idea how to get people together even on the Senate level to get things done, he'll be a blithering idiot as a diplomat, he has supporters leaning on him from the very farthest left spectrum drooling to be honored kingmakers in the White House, and Barry has never earned the legislative chops to have any clue how get his radical patrons to play nice with his more moderate/pragmatic Clinton era team members, which will be crucial for him to maintain support.

The significant point is that a more Beltway-savvy left winger could do a lot more damage than this straw man, who may fall apart well before the next elex and raise the value of the Republican brand.

We would have to (God forbid) take some pretty rough bumps along the way, but I don't think most people have any idea of the breadth of Obama's managerial incompetence. His campaign team can lead the dummies along by their noses with Hollywood sound bites and populist slogans, but any administration he tries to lead will be a howler*: an economic, foreign relations, and social policy disaster that will make Jimmah Carter's tenure look like a triumph of statemanship.

*for us, in more ways than one

Wrong, you can't fix a fight when everybody knows it's fixed. But when the Republicans continue to treat the liberal press like a necessary evil instead of the enemy that it is then they deserve to wear the smears that they will not deny. They deserve to be buried in the lies they will not counter. Why do I have to go to some wonkish blog to find a list of all of Biden's blatant lies? Why isn't there a fucking TV commercial running in every swing state telling voters what a liar the man is, showing quotes from the debate contrasted directly with previous statements?

The media has displayed liberal bias since the days of Huntley and Brinkley. I remember my ultra-conservative Dad yelling at the TV during some of their broadcasts when I was a crumb-cruncher. Yet, it was so much more subtle back then. Today, it is blatant advocacy on the part of most journalists. It's leftist activism behind the pen, keyboard or teleprompter. There is no longer a shred of pretense left. The MSM has not crossed, but leaped across the line of objectivity with this election.

Thanks for the info. I was just wondering if this could be why McCain is NOT making this an issue.

The obligatory "fact-checks" are really just the media running interference for their candidates. The actual liars - in this case, Joe Biden - end up looking better as a result because it drags down the honest candidate.

To put it another way, a "lie" according to the so-called fact-checkers is many times just a different political interpretation of the facts.

However, as noted at the top of this page, Biden told numerous demonstrable outright lies, but amazingly they were overlooked by the MSM.

Thanks for the info. I was just wondering if this could be why McCain is NOT making this an issue.

Possibly. But then, as Palin hammered Biden as he tried to link all of the McCain policies to those of Bush 43, looking back isn't really productive - it's better to look forward and focus on that.

Look at it this way, if McCain and other prominent Republicans went into a full court press as to how the Dems created and facilitated this problem - what would the response be and which side would the MSM attempt to paint as the villian? The real villians (Dodd, Frank, and the Dems) or the finger pointing Republicans who are attempting to deflect the attention from their responsibility and leadership in Congress from 2001 to 2006? And how would middle America receive it? Kudos for the R's for fighting or more of the same bickering that doesn't really accomplish anything or solve the problem.

re: #319 rightymouse

I am plagerizing the below from an earlier post (I forgot by whom)

This little story about some beer drinkers explains…..
Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:
The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.
The fifth would pay $1.
The sixth would pay $3.
The seventh would pay $7.
The eighth would pay $12.
The ninth would pay $18.
The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.
So, that's what they decided to do. The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve. 'Since you are all such good customers, he said, 'I'm going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20.'
Drinks for the ten now cost just $80. The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But what about the other six men - the paying customers? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his 'fair share?' They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody's share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer. So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man's bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay.
And so:
The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings).
The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33% savings).
The seventh now paid $5 instead of $7 (28% savings).
The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings).
The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings).
The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings).
Each of the six was better off than before And the first four continued to drink for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings.
'I only got a dollar out of the $20', declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man,' but he got $10!'
'Yeah, that's right', exclaimed the fifth man. 'I only saved a dollar, too. It's unfair that he got ten times more than I!'
'That's true!' shouted the seventh man. 'Why should he get $10 back when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!'
'Wait a minute,' yelled the first four men in unison. 'We didn't get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!'
The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up. The next night the tenth man didn't show up for drinks, so the nine sat down and had beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn't have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill!
And that, boys and girls, journalists and college professors, is how our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.

Debates are like drag races, you compete against your own benchmark, at least as far as the media are concerned.
So the benchmarks were:
Biden, Do not stick foot in mouth past the ankle.
Palin, Be fully knowledgable regarding foreign policy, domestic policy, economics, health care, eduaction, and taxes.
Biden stuck his foot in his mouth, but not deep enough since the LSM will not fact check him or Obamanation.
Palin was not able to articulate fully that she had a masters degree knowledge in all the areas required in her 90 seconds.
Biden wins, Palin loses, the media continues to attack her because they know she can eat them for a snack. (forget lunch).

Our nation will be run by Nancy Pelosi. If you think that she hasn't done enough damage in the last 2 years to this great country, with a Rep in the WH then just wait and see how badly it will go for us with a rubber stamp at 1600 Penn Ave.

I think the most damage will be done by the clashing of the two colossus' egos, leaving Washington a wreck scene reminiscent of a Japanese 'monster-v-monster' movie.

The Dems are not that smart. If this bailout crap had passed 4 months ago, Congress's incompetence would have eventually have been called by angry voters of both parties, and most Americans would have had a chance to learn the truth about origin of the financial crisis that had been expanding under cover till October. Pelosi and Reid are morons, and Obama is a clueless bluffer with zero administrative experience. That will become clearer under an all-dim-Dem government as our economy goes from bad to worse and the bargaining positions of dangerous global powers like Russia and Iran gets better. Things will fall apart; and my only prayer is that it will be possible to pick up the pieces.

Am I really asking for too much here? If I am, then I rest my case, I guess.

Got a solution? I mean, short of buying your own cable network? A candidate bitterly complaining about a biased media, even with examples just ain't gonna cut it.

re: #325 DeafDog

We talked a bit today about the concept of wealth redistribution and tax cuts for the wealthy. I asked her what she considered to be wealthy. She wasn't sure of an exact number. Then I asked her whether she was better at determining how to spend her money or whether the government was better than her. She laughed and said of course she was better than the government. I told her that she was not alone and that the government had no clue how to use anyone's money or wealth, as just shown by the bailout.

I also told her that the Dems had an invested interest in keeping her 'needy', otherwise she wouldn't think she 'needed' them to save her from her 'neediness'.

The one that got her was the Karl Marx notion of 'from each according to their ability to each according to their need'. She didn't know that that was Karl Marx and hence the basis of wealth redistribution by government proxy. How many Americans are like her? Lots and lots and lots.

I take 'em one at a time. :)

re: #254 yesandno

NOBAMA.....

When I listened to NPR I liked the way they did the news. If a story took 15 minutes they would spend the 15 minutes and go into it in-depth. I may not agree with the slant they would put onto the news, but the fact they went in-depth was more important. You take news lite (i.e. a Drudge headline) and run with it you wind up missing some important facts buried towards the end of the item. That makes it much harder to hide the truth than when you just get the Reader's Digest add water condensed version. The press won't do this if they aren't rewarded for doing this. Publicity, a name, a by-line, is what they want. They want to change the world, but the majority won't be anyone known outside of a few markets.

This would give them incentive to work harder or get an education instead of leeching off of you fellow citizens misguided largess. Arrr, I am talking like a pirate on this one. Ruthless and daring, with no pity for the incompetent clueless welfare reciprocates! I 'be taking the last statement back, I too have been down on 'me luck, but I never required welfare because I did not begot 'myself without a marriage and always found a job. Some people do get down in their luck but with a little help, like welfare and labor, they find employment within a year. I have serious issues with anyone on welfare more than one year, no matter how many children they have brought into the world.

Charles -

It certainly appears that Sen. Obama and the Democratic Party are allowing "Joe to be Joe." That is to say a practiced bloviator, playing fast and loose with facts, he even got the name of the restaurant he frequents wrong. The correct name is "Cozy Corner" - the name he gave has been out of business for the last 15 years. The management at Cozy Corner likes him as a matter of fact. Bob Grant (a/k/a Gigante) at age 85 can still remember that the name of the diner he frequents in Woodbridge, NJ is "The REO (Not RIO) Diner" - what is Joe Biden's problem?

Good one!

A neighbor was saying they were undecided and I asked if they saw Obama on OReily. No, they hadn't. I told them when Obama was confronted about taking wealth from the rich to give to the poor Obama said "that's our neighborly thing to do." Their reaction was one of disbelief. "He didn't really say that!" Sure did, I retorted. Neighbor said, "that's socialism!" Yup!

Love it when they figure it out themselves!

OT: Well, I'm officially registered to vote as an Orthodox Jewish Republican in North Carolina as of a few days ago. I'm a dual citizen of the U.S. and Israel, but I had to change my U.S. residency due to my job in North Carolina (which I will be doing in Israel after my initial time onsite in Research Triangle Park in Raleigh, North Carolina.) Long story.

So I will be voting for McCain/Palin in North Carolina instead of California.

It's a much better use of my vote, I think.

I'll be in North Carolina until a couple of months after the election. Then I will return to Judea, Israel to do my North Carolina job remotely.

Shabbat Shalom!

Glad to have you!

another video 2nd one down of dopes for Obama[Link: sugarnspice.typepad.com...]

I saw one of her clips a couple of weeks ago, just after her blog site was hacked and trashed by Obamabots. She was pissed and moved her blog to another host, then went off on the bots, Obama and the DNC with both barrels.

I think the name of it is "The enemy of my enemy is my friend", and she clearly mentioned that she was voting for McCain in this election but in 2012, she was Hillary's woman. And she is AA.

I've checked out quite a few PUMA sites - some are more palatable than others. The Hillary Clinton Forum and PUMAPac are actually some very reliable sources of news, and they are very motivated to get out and work for McCain/Palin. MUCH MORE THAN A NUMBER OF CONSERVATIVES SEEM TO BE!

We've got quite an assortment of bedfellows for this election, that's for sure.

The son was on a gator his during his first enlistment. The poor Marines on board had incredibly limited storage space for personal belongings. Son said that when entering into the USMC spaces that it smelled funny/off. That being said he respected the way that the Marines carried themselves and wore the uniform correctly. It was very rare to see any Marine sloppily dressed. Navy personnel and their wearing of the uniform es another subject.

From the link - is this statement factual?

McCain co-sponsored the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005. The bill never made it out of committee because the democrats blocked it.

The Republicans introduced legislation in 2000 and 2004 to reform Freddie/Fannie and it failed then as well.
