Forgive me beforehand, but ain't you pushin' it a bit far? I would think Mexico wouldn't consider paying for what they think has been theirs all along. We paid for it once already. Let's just go for giving it to them and cutting our losses.

Welcome to the Alinsky Party of Change comrades. How about a couple of quotes for the thread:

“You will never get real freedom and recognition between black and white people in this country without destroying the country, without destroying the present political system, without destroying the present economic system, without rewriting the entire constitution. It will be a complete destruction of everything that America supposedly stands for.”

– El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz
(born Malcolm Little, most commonly known as Malcolm X)

“Only Malcolm X’s autobiography seemed to offer something different. His repeated acts of self-creation spoke to me. The blunt poetry of his words. His unadorned insistence on respect. He promised a new and uncompromising order, marshal in its discipline.”

–Barack Hussein Obama

“But my journey is part of a larger journey - one shared by all who’ve ever sought to apply the values of their faith to our society. It’s a journey that takes us back to our nation’s founding, when none other than a UCC church inspired the Boston Tea Party and helped bring an Empire to its knees.”

–Barack Hussein Obama

re: #10 Cap'n DOC

You are correct, of course. Any transaction involving the "return" of California to it's rightful owner would have to include monetary compensation to the victims....we would have to pay them to take it back. So, I guess for now, the state of my birth will remain in the USA. That is, until the big earthquake, when everything east of California will slide into the Atlantic Ocean.

Fine. Nice day here. Overcast, I like gloomy. Will be socked in with clouds through Monday. Snow over 9000ft, up to foot in some places, rainy down here in Golden, at 6000ft. SHoud dip into the mid 30's Sunday night.

On the down side, this current show is our worst seller of the year. I guess people are not interested in seeing the effects of war on the homefront. Not a real cheery show.

Man, this guy pissed me off! Couldn't help emailing him with MY observations. I hope a few of you take the time to dismiss his dribble personally.
[Link: www.breitbart.com...]

Following is Mr. Siegel's assessment of the "Voices" of the candidates in last night's debates:

Joe Biden's "Voice"
"Biden's voice was clear (although he was hoarse), confident, credible, genuine, passionate, responsive and respectful, commanding and vice presidential."

Sarah Palin's "Voice"
"Palin's voice was perky and enthusiastic, friendly, down-home, programmed, colloquial, ditzy, predictable, and at times modestly contentious."

Overall Observations
"The moderator contributed to the lack of debate by allowing Palin to insert her own programmed responses instead of answering the questions."
"Palin's repeated name dropping -- trying to prove that she could pronounce difficult names -- was annoying."
"Inserting her meeting with Kissinger into the conversation was laughable."
"During a time of such national crisis, the American people deserve more."
To speak with Alan Siegel or for more information, please contact Davia Temin of Temin and Company at 212-588-8788 or news@teminandco.com.

Heading out to see American Carol now, feedback on it later.

Your favorite place IS FRANCE................................ Well so much for me asking you to write my biography..... ;p

Ok, I understand why you would say that. Let me clarify. Of course I have problems with France's politics, but the people, the everyday people, are really not the American haters that they have been typed as.

When I go, I never stay in the tourist districts of Paris, always in the 2 star hotel areas, I eat in common cafes and bistros, I speak enough of the langauge to get arrested and I enjoy the more obscure attractions.

In the country side (mainly eastern France), the folks are about as "countrified" as any folks you would meet mid-states here.

So, a lot of the friction you hear about is not on the people level as much as the political level.

My opinion, my expierences.

Did your parents even try to speak a little French to them. And understand, Paris is no different then NYC. It's a really busy place, and these people you see on the streets are NOT on vacation. If you were a New Yorker and someone came up to you, started speaking Polish, if you were hurrying on to a meeting or had some deadline to make, you may not be so apt to be too helpful.

No matter where I travel (which isn't going to be much anymore), I always that the tact that I am a guest in someones house, and I move from that point onward, with respect.

I got that in Paris....Paris is snooty, no doubt. I spent a few weeks there in the 1980's and loved it. I am a battlefield explorer. So, I went out to WWI sites, some Napolenic sites, Normandy, etc. The people outside of Paris are really kind. I spoke no French, but I took along a French-English dictionary and tried to speak it. I was treated with more hospitality that I was in the UK where I was living. There, once I opened my mouth and they figured out I was an American, they got rude. Not so in France (or Belgium, Holland, Germany, etc....)

My favorite place used to be SanFran.

I've never been there. An I guess with my finances being in the bucket, I should think of staying close to home if I'm going to do much travelling at all.

I didn't start the Europe binge until about 10 years ago. I had been ALL around to most of the US growing up, and I just fell in love with being able to immerse myself in other cultures.

That probably has a lot to do with the writer and researcher in me. A vacation to a new country starts a year before I do it. I study where I'm going, good enough so I can even take public transportation like a native.

I develop enough language skills to keep myself safe and then after I get back, I'll spend months and months reading up on more of where I have just been. A vaction for me can last a year or more.

State's been spending every penny of cash on hand, and then passing bond issues to buy groceries for thirty years. The coupon clippers have come home to roost.

If we bail them out, aren't we just going to encourage them to do more of the same?

If we bail out California, wouldn't all the other state legislatures come to the realization that they would be chumps to not do the same?

On the down side, this current show is our worst seller of the year. I guess people are not interested in seeing the effects of war on the homefront. Not a real cheery show.

Yes they speak French lol.
My father is fluent in French and German.
It was their "attitude" that he didn't like.
He felt looked down on as if they would take the "dirty Americans" money but talk behind their back, that kind of thing.
My Dad is old school. He started out dirt poor and ended up very wealthy but doesn't flash it and doesn't talk about it.
But I can tell you, no self made man likes to be looked down on.
He prefers to visit the south, does a lot of golfing in Alabama and North Carolina.
Friendly people who appreciate his business. So that's where he spends his money now :)

JERUSALEM - Pages from an Israeli astronaut's diary that survived the explosion of the space shuttle Columbia and a 37-mile fall to earth are going on display this weekend for the first time in Jerusalem.

The diary belonged to Ilan Ramon, Israel's first astronaut and one of seven crew members killed when Columbia disintegrated upon re-entering the atmosphere on Feb. 1, 2003. Part of the restored diary will be displayed at the Israel Museum beginning Sunday.

A little over two months after the shuttle explosion, NASA searchers found 37 pages from Ramon's diary, wet and crumpled, in a field just outside the U.S. town of Palestine, Texas. The diary survived extreme heat in the explosion, extreme atmospheric cold, and then "was attacked by microorganisms and insects" in the field where it fell, said museum curator Yigal Zalmona.

"It's almost a miracle that it survived — it's incredible," Zalmona said. There is "no rational explanation" for how it was recovered when most of the shuttle was not, he said.

NASA officials did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The U.S. space agency returned the diary to Ramon's wife, Rona, who brought it to forensics experts at the Israel Museum and from the Israeli police. The diary took about a year to restore, Zalmona said, and it took police scientists about four more years to decipher the pages. About 80 percent of the text has been deciphered, and the rest remains unreadable, he said.

Two pages will be displayed. One contains notes written by Ramon, and the other is a copy of the Kiddush prayer, a blessing over wine that Jews recite on the Sabbath. Zalmona said Ramon copied the prayer into his diary so he could recite it on the space shuttle and have the blessing broadcast to Earth.

Most of the pages contain personal information which Ramon's wife did not wish to make public, he said.

"We agreed to do the restoration completely respecting the family's privacy and the sensitivity about how intimate the document is," museum director James Snyder said.

The diary provides no indication Ramon knew anything about potential problems on the shuttle. Columbia's wing was gashed by a chunk of fuel tank foam insulation at liftoff and broke up in flames just 16 minutes before it was scheduled to land at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. All seven astronauts on board were killed.

The diary is being displayed as part of a larger exhibit of famous documents from Israel's history, held to mark the country's 60th anniversary this year. Also on display will be Israel's 1948 declaration of independence, the 1994 peace treaty with Jordan and a bloodstained sheet of paper with lyrics to a peace anthem that was carried by Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin at the time of his assassination in 1995

What do you think will happen in California if the feds do not help out? And, what if they do help out? Would it be money down the well? or would it actually help out?

Here in AZ, we have almost 2/3 of our state budget tied up and linked to voter mandated programs (Propositions from previous elections). And, we have a Governor that has never met a social program she would not like to fund. Add that to a decrease in revenues and it adds up to one big mess. I am guessing there are many states out there with the same problem.

If they let California's politicians get away with living in a fantasy economy, the Dem controlled insanity that is Olympia (Washington State) will think they could and should emulate California's practices. They would think themselves fools not too. If there is no downside cost, then there is no reason to not do do like they have done in Sacramento. All I had to do was tell it to reboot, and like a stinking bilge rat I did. System crashed big time. But I did have recovery discs and software. I have recovered and am running under auxiliary power as Mr. Scott would say. This is a AMD CPU, so fair warning to AMD users. Its almost enough to drive me to a Mac! Yaaaar!

An AMD CPU you should download the ISO disc image. Install SP3 off the disc image.

Downloading from the net give you the Intel chipset drivers not AMD. The disc image has both sets of drivers.

Got the email pasted below, sent it to everybody in my addressbook, thought it deserves more audience because Illinois is also a blue state in a BIG financial mess (read: meltdown):

Perhaps the U.S. should pull out of Chicago?
Body count: In the last six months 292 killed (murdered) in Chicago; 221 killed in Iraq.
Sens. Barack Obama & Dick Durbin,
Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr.,
Gov. Rod Blogojevich,
House leader Mike Madigan,
Atty. Gen. Lisa Madigan (daughter of Mike),
Mayor Richard M. Daley (son of Mayor Richard J. Daley)
.....our leadership in Illinois.....all Democrats.
Thank you for the combat zone in Chicago.
Of course, they're all blaming each other.
Can't blame Republicans; they're aren't any!
State pension fund $44 Billion in debt, worst in country.
Cook County (Chicago) sales tax 10.25% highest in country. (Look 'em up if you want).
Chicago school system rated one of the worst in the country.
This is the political culture that Obama comes from in Illinois. And he's gonna 'fix' Washington politics for us!? SURE!

Seems to me the MSM did a great job in spreading the idea that Sarah Palin is inexperienced...

Gaaaah!

I always respond with..."how about Obama?"

I had one respond to me that he is experienced in the Senate...

I said yes but two years in Senate? He responded something about mayor blah blah and I said don't forget GOVERNOR...and he said 1 and half year..

One also asked me about what papers is Palin reading? I responded with, well how about Obama? Do you know what papers he is reading? He thought about it and responded that ...well we need to ask Biden, Biden is the comparison and not Obama...we don't know what he is reading either!

By the way, Sarah Palin found out about McCain campaign withdrawing from Michigan from reading the PAPERS...

So there! She reads newspapers! She just does not tell you what!

re: #137 Desert Dog

What do you think will happen in California if the feds do not help out? And, what if they do help out? Would it be money down the well? or would it actually help out?

Here in AZ, we have almost 2/3 of our state budget tied up and linked to voter mandated programs (Propositions from previous elections). And, we have a Governor that has never met a social program she would not like to fund. Add that to a decrease in revenues and it adds up to one big mess. I am guessing there are many states out there with the same problem.

Ms. Boxer finally responded to a few chosen words sent to her ... a few interesting points ...

Thank you for contacting me regarding the financial rescue legislation (H.R.1424). I appreciate hearing from you on this critical issue.

The fundamentals of our economy have been shaken, and Americans are deeply concerned. When Secretary Paulson and Chairman Bernanke placed an urgent phone call a few weeks ago to Congress to say we needed emergency action to prevent a major financial meltdown, I expected they would come forward with a plan that was targeted and reasonable, with appropriate oversight and taxpayer protections.

Unfortunately, what they brought us was a $700 billion blank check, which they asked us to sign with no questions asked. This plan contained no oversight, no taxpayer equity, and no control over CEO pay. I strongly opposed this proposal - and thanks to your phone calls, e-mails, and letters, Congress stopped it in its tracks.

The Senate made major improvements designed to strengthen our economy and protect our taxpayers. Instead of a blank check, the Senate plan included significant Congressional oversight, equity for taxpayers, curbs on executive compensation, an increase in FDIC insurance protection for bank depositors, middle-class tax relief, and job-creating tax incentives for renewable energy. The bill passed the Senate by an overwhelmingly bipartisan vote of 74-25 and the House by a vote of 263-171.

These were very important changes. But let me be honest: There were still aspects of this package that I didn't like. I preferred the government acquiring more equity instead of toxic assets. I wanted the package to be put forward in smaller installments and to include more checks and balances to make sure it would work.

For me, the deciding factor in my Yes vote was information I received from the State of California. I was told by the Treasurer's office that without access to credit, which is the goal of this legislation, California wouldn't be able to sell voter-approved highway, school, and water bonds that are desperately needed for our economy and the creation of good-paying new jobs. In addition, I was told by the Governor's office, that without action, our state might be forced to withhold funds for law enforcement, schools, and other needed services. This would bring our state to its knees and many middle-class families would be in deep trouble. Small businesses are beginning to tell me they cannot get lines of credit to meet payroll, as well.

Rest assured, I will continue to speak out forcefully about the failures that led us to this place and keep working with my colleagues to strengthen confidence in our markets, protect the American taxpayers, and enact regulatory reform to ensure that we don't end up in this mess again.

Again, thank you for writing to me about this very important matter. Even though you may feel frustrated with the outcome of the legislation that passed, your voice absolutely resulted in the enactment of a better bill. Feel free to contact me again about any issue of importance to you.

Barbara Boxer

Or on a caffine jag. The last time I went, Jan 2007, was the first time back since I stop drinking. I had a date with me, and of course, she was always enjoying the large selection of wines. I was dropping cups of cafe like it was water and smoking up a storm of French cigarettes.

Will birds like parakeets and cockatoos and whatnot actually breed in the US if you let them go wild? Is it possible to breed nightingales? Can't we just sort of stock our neighborhoods with these creatures?

Los Angeles is now well-populated with a couple of breeds of feral green parrots.

re: #203 arethusa

From Bill Kristol.

I often find Kristol too optimistic and wearing rose-tinted glasses, but his first paragraphs on how McCain supporters should not despair is right on. Hopefully he's right on the rest of it, too.

from your link:
"Despair is what the Obama campaign is hoping and working for. If a campaign can convince supporters of the other candidate that the race is effectively over, the enthusiasm and volunteer efforts drop off--as does, ultimately, their turnout on Election Day. Just as important, undecided and loosely affiliated voters become persuaded there's no real contest and lose any incentive to look closely at the candidates. This explains the efforts of the Obama campaign--aided by a colluding media--to sell the notion that the race is over, that McCain supporters should give up, and undecided voters should tune out."

The MSM is really working hard to convince the Country The One will win so why bother if you are for McCain.

Did you read the article?

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) - Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is accusing Democrat Barack Obama of "palling around with terrorists" for his association with a former 1960s radical.

Palin was referring to Bill Ayers, one of the founders of the group the Weather Underground. The group took credit for bombings, including nonfatal explosions at the Pentagon and the U.S. Capitol four decades ago.

In remarks to GOP donors in Englewood, Colo., on Saturday, Palin said Obama seems to see the U.S. as being so imperfect that, in her words, "he's palling around with terrorists who would target their own country."

Obama served on a charity board with Ayers in Chicago and has denounced his past activities.

When you have the MSM (in this instance AP) on your side, it does not matter what you do, it will be explained away.

In Los Angeles, the first to breed in the wild are smaller, green birds that travel in flocks of about twenty or thirty, and avoid people almost completely.

Just this last summer I was walking down the block and in a couple of big trees saw some much larger birds, also green but with yellow and red markings on the chest, first time I've seen the like, making various parrot-squawks between them.

Parrots in Brooklyn? I don't know. In Los Angeles, I guess there is fruit on trees pretty much year-round. Even if your Brooklyn parrots could find warm lodgings, not sure where they would find food.

Ok, so I take these two little critters. My goodness, these things are the Chicuachua's of the bird world. Zip around, nervous as all get out. If you look at them the wrong way they panic.

And I know that birds are a bit messy, but these two can throw more seed around than my parrot.

And they poop in their bowls. I mean, both the water and seed bowls are NO WHERE near their perches, yet I'm always cleaning out poop. My parrot is much smarter. Poops in the same place most of the time.

re: #287 arethusa

So yesterday SurveyUSA released a poll saying Coleman led Franken in the MN Senate race, 43-33, and today the Star Tribune released a poll saying the virtual opposite: Franken led 43 to 34. In both polls, the Independent candidate had 18 or 19% of the vote.

Something is very fishy here. That's a ridiculous difference. Question is, who's wrong?

It's the same method they used to shove Obama down the throats of the Dems during the primaries and the the same method they are using now to make him the next President. The people in the MSM of this country are electing this President....why not add a douche bag loser like Franken while they are at it?

LOL - that was great! All our hope now is how well Palin attacks the Ayres connection. The MSM will simply not do it.

Is this some kind of strategy by McCains campaign. Have Palin take the heat and bring up all these slams on Obama?

I hope to hell McCain starts throwing some punches himself real soon. After all, he want to be POTUS, not vice-POTUS.

Finches don't strike me as a great bird to keep caged. Cockatiels, parakeets and the like are much more social.

By the way, I remember hearing Steve "Croc Hunter", he who waded into ponds full of alligators and crawled face first into a den of rattlesnakes, once say that he feared only one animal....Parrots! Said he never knew when one would bite and maybe take a finger off! LOL

The media want obambi to win.
Look at the crosstabs on ANY poll before giving it any weight.

Oh, I'm not giving either of these polls any weight...I'm just saying, never have I noticed such discrepancy in two polls taken at virtually the same time. One of these polls (and after reading their respective methodologies, I'm betting it's the Strib) is way, way off.

Of course, I read the article. The article is not what is important. The important thing is that the McCain camp has identified the role of Palin and put her to work -- finally. The press will spin it all in favor of Obama bin Biden. That is a given. But to have a chance, Palin must be put to work and it appears that work has begun.

Charles, maybe a new thread on this with the photo of the Ayers stomping Old Glory? If Ayers was proud enough to pose for it, SHOW IT!

you're right. people aren't stupid and they will put the story together despite how the msm tries to paper it all over.

the important thing is for Palin to just keep on the attack.

re: #285 Infidel_One

Actually besides the problems with SP3..I haven't had a lot of problems.
It does require heavy tweaking though.
Running XP on default settings is asking for trouble.

Actually running any O/S on default setting is begging for trouble. For example unless you are already Linux literate running pretty much any version of Linux at its default setting pretty much guarantees a catastrophic failure on several levels. Linux has a great deal to recommended it, it's very steep learning curve is it's Achilles heel though.

Microsoft doesn't have that Achilles heel, it's is the highly restrictive nature.

re: #289 Walter L. Newton

Some one above mentioned finches. My apartment manager, knowing I liked birds, gave me two zebra finches last month that were abandoned duing a move out.

Of course, I love the little suckers, but, gee, not worth much on the "fun to have" scale.

We have one finch left (out of 4), but of a different type, and I agree. We even have 2 parakeets left; one is now around 7 years old! And one cockatiel, who does sing to us, and gets depressed if we go away for a few days.
Add the seven poodles, and for a while about 6 gerbils (they all have passed on to the wheel in the sky, after having fairly long lives), and we had quite a menagerie.

I put a birdbath type bowl in the bottom of the cage becuase I read they like to bathe. Didn't even come near it for a week. Didn't poop in it either. I know they are trying to bathe in the water dish. I can't figure it out.

Now my parrot, hell, she'll take a shower with me. I put her on the bottom of the bathtub, make sure the shower spray is shooting down and she goes to the other end, and dances around in the mist, speading her wings as far as she can, loves it. And I mist her in her cage too.

To think about it, she would probably sleep with me too, if I let her. She really treats me like her mate.

Totally unrelated to the elections:
my granddaughter is now 14 1/2. Time to start pondering what she might do after school.
She is very good with horses, schooling her own pony, riding horses for others, doing all the stable stuff ... So I told her about something I saw on TV earlier this year: Trooping The colours - which is the Queen's Birthday Parade, and the most fabulous military pageant on Earth.
One of the troops parading were the 'King's Tropps', which is the artillery, horse-drawn, nacyh.
There were lots of women in that troop - and the commanding officer as well as the adjutant were both female.
So I told her (and her mum) that this might be a worthy carreer to think about choosing ... and gave them the youtube links.
Gotta get them early ...

(And gotta shamelessly plug the links I put up just now! Just so you can see for yourselves ...)

He's just some guy that lives in his neighborhood. A teacher. Just a regular guy. And, as for Rev. Wright, well, I never heard any of that stuff when I was sitting there for 20 years. And, I know I am about as partisan of a leftwinger as you can be, but I am the guy to bring this country together. Mr. Rezko and I have a very short history together, he just helped me get a house.

Imagine if McCain had just one of those little problems? Do you think he would get a pass on it? Look at the way Gov. Palin has been attacked. When they could find anything bad on her, they went after her kids, or they just made stuff up.

If anyone wants to know why this country is so polarized, just look at the left. They will lie, distort, manufacture things to ruin the right. And, when they get caught or called out on obvious problems, they use the same tactics to deflect and deny.

The AP report on Palin calling Obama a pal of terrorists truncated her quote. Here it is in full, and the bold shows that she not only attacked Obama, but Biden, Kate Couric, and Michelle Obama. Think she can multitask enough to be President?

"There's been a lot of interest in what I read lately. Well, I was reading my copy of today’s New York Times and I was really interested to read about Barack’s friends from Chicago. Turns out, one of his earliest supporters is a man who, according to The New York Times was a domestic terrorist and part of a group that, quote, ‘launched a campaign of bombings that would target the Pentagon and the U.S. Capitol.’ These are the same guys who think patriotism is paying higher taxes. This is not a man who sees America as you and I do - as the greatest force for good in the world. This is someone who sees America as imperfect enough to pal around with terrorists who targeted their own country. This, ladies and gentlemen, has nothing to do with the kind of change anyone can believe in - not my kids and not your kids. The only man who can take on Washington is John McCain."

Yea, the down feather stunt is wierd.

Maisey has this habit of climbing off her perch and traversing across her cage upside down hanging from the top, and then back to her perch and then wanting me to scratch her head.

It's a square critter cage, 5 foot high, about 4 foot sq, to the floor, not really a standard bird cage, so the top is flat, no bends or decorative funcky angles. Makes it easy for her to perform this upside down trick.

Sometime she'll go out to the middle of the cage, upside down, and hang from one foot, and look around at the bottom, searching for any snacks that may be down on the bottom. Priceless.

I think about some of the girls I knew - just like teenagers everywhere. They'd wear their chadors to town, but underneath miniskirts and platform heels. They liked movies and boys and make-up, just like me. Sometimes I wonder if they got out, or if they are stuck there, or if something worse.

We have friends who didn't. One was a Iranian pastor of a church in Mashad. Not a pretty story. His daughter was a good friend, 'bout my age.

I'd like to met Rabbit Bait some time and tell him about her. How the mullah and revolutionary guard judge condemned her father to death, stole his house and forcefully married my friend as a 3rd wife.

Nailed it! And they use each other to further the attacks, the msm, hollyweird, academia. The more shiite you throw on the wall, the more shiite will stick.

Morning.....afternoon Lizards,

When the realization that "bailing out of the plane of Free Markets","wearing the brick filled chute-pack of socialism,"
(Verbose, but I'll own it.) was historically so devastating, this, this ME FIRST generation, this NIMBY fucking "what's in it for ME?!" generation, will be left to stand hapless, witless yet still whining, to nothing more than the large crater in the ground left by the impact of American democracy as a previous generation once believed, fought and died for it to be. This is MY generation's LEGACY?

Anyway, standing in my back yard last night just trying to find any positive aspect of what this could portend for the future of The United States of..... I looked up and saw my American Flag flying and all lit up on the pole that I erected in the days after 911 and kept the flag up 24/7. 365 since, and I felt so humiliated.

I took my flag down, took the light down, took the pole down.

Speaking of Christmas trees: we once got one, a very small artificial one. As we were living in rented accomodation then, that was the only solution.
It got packed away, we moved a couple of times, it ended up in the garden shed - and then, as I was clearing said shed out, I came across it: it ahd been nibbled by mice!
Now we both couldn't bear to throw that poor, mutilated little thing out after it ahd been so shabbily treated! So every year, it got resurrected and I hid all the damage under loads and loads of tinsel - it looked fabulous!
That mouse- eaten little tree is now one of the house-hold icons and will never be thrown out.

Mortgages don't need to be bundled up as securities and upsold to heaven. Banks should keeps a high percentage of their mortgages on their own books.

We have seen that at a certain level of monopolization of any industry with consumers in it that the MBA's will resort to greed and corruption to siphon money from the poor and middle classes to the rich. (This is one of the few areas that I am class conscious)

The common good of financial institutions requires the confidence of the consumer. Mortgage contracts need to be simplified. The government can take the first step by removing all the idiotic fees they impose on a transaction.
