Obama wants *Deval Patrick* as a judge, rumor has it. Another Axelrod client who has done such a good job as MA governor that his approval ratings in liberal MA are now even lower than Bush's nationwide.

8 Glaucon  10/04/08 6:01:43 pm reply quote

People are not generally aware of Obama's associations.

A colleague of mine, a college professor, the other day was speaking to a student, an Obama supporter. The student claimed that McCain had lied about Obama. "How so?" asked my colleague. "He said that Obama is friends with a terrorist."

After all, that CAN'T be true, so it must be a lie.

The nObama lemmings don't want to see or hear any of this, they're satisfied with just sticking their heads in the sand and chanting "change" and "hope".

If I hadn't read David Horowitz, I wouldn't know much about the 60s radicals either, so it's not too surprising. It takes an effort to learn about these things, and most people want to be spoon fed, which is why the msm has remained quiet about this stuff. Well- if we get more 527s airing ads like this, the msm won't be able to starve the people much longer, though they'll try.

Nothing will change the minds of the committed Obama people.
They are very smug & seem to have lost all decency when it comes to Sarah Plain. At least that is my experience with them.
The battle is really for the undecideds. To my mind the game belongs to Sarah. She is the greatest weapon in the race.

That is so true, I think the vast majority of Americans have no clue who Ayers was and is. The only way I knew who he was before this campaign is because I tried to watch that excrutiatingly bad documentary on the Weather Underground. I didn't make it very far into the film before I started talking to the screen and wanting to strangle the sniveling privileged brats. I was so angry I only made it half way through and ranted about it for days afterward.

Tell me then, why are the (admittedly unreliable) polls showing TFM gaining?
Why are the elections so close? Are there really that many voters in the country who seek to destroy what we have?! I don't think so. They are either lazy, or sinister. I prefer the former reason to the latter. The thought that so many people willingly voted for Gore, The False Messiah, Ivory Edition, and Kerry makes me shudder. No way either of those two should have ever gotten the number of votes they did. They got that many votes because voters are too lazy to check out the candidate's past words and actions, or they agree with those words and actions which harm America.

What's your take then?

This, and then Sarah saying he hangs with terrorists - thank goodness. Its not too late, but the word needs to get out. People don't bother to educate themselves, sadly.

For instance, my mother announced tonight at dinner that Laura Bush was going to leave W as soon as his administration is over. WHAT? Where did THAT come from? I looked at her and said, "Say it ain't so, Mom, the media got to Laura and now SHE has BDS, too?" She stared at me blankly. I followed with, "well mom, gotta hand it to you. You are learning the ways of the Dems - if you don't like the truth, just make stuff up. Its all good." Another blank stare. My step father is a conservative Republican - he was definitely giggling.

It's true, you did.

Sylvester, like many of Kerry's friends, said the defeat at the polls may have actually been a blessing in disguise, since it allowed the junior senator from Massachusetts to spend more time on his true passion. As evidence of the incredible progress Kerry has made in the last four years, Sylvester pointed out that the former presidential candidate is now able to perform a number of freestyle moves and some light carving without hurting himself. Kerry also reportedly knows all about tacks now, and can stay on the board a full minute longer than he could during the last presidential campaign.

It is not known whether Kerry intends to use his new skills in a future presidential run. When reporters reached him for comment, he was being swept into the Atlantic Ocean by a 35 mph gust of wind.

Too funny.

Polls are only snapshots of a microcosm of our society. Due to the nature of their sampling they are not always accurate. Cokes poll reflected the American public wanting a new coke flavor. Didn't work. Another focus group poll showed the public getting tired of a little dog advertising tacos. Another error. Polls reflected Kerry and Gore as ahead. Didn't quite work out that way.

Yes, there are a lot of voters that are lazy and apathetic unless the politicians views can be shown to have an impact on that persons immediate life; otherwise they are just so many campaign promises. The public has been inundated with so many political jokes that they are very cynical regarding political figures. Maybe rightly so-maybe not.

As far as looking behind the persona the media portrays? Very few people really know how to search, where to search, or even the questions that need to be asked.

As a new Veterans Service Representative for the County, I went to my first "Stand Down" this weekend .. here is an excerpt from my discussion about the experience...

Wow ..

My first "Stand Down" two days in the company of hundreds of vets.

What can I say? Met so many vet's from so many different eras, from WW II to Korea, Nam, and the Gulf Wars and many other conflicts that were never given fancy names.

So many conversations and so many times I found myself face to face with men who faced death head on for their country yet were shy to ask for even a modicum of pension or compensation for ailments that had grown to life threatening levels.. it was humbling.

One vet (who came to know my character quickly) confided that he had just been censored by a lady from a County agency when he talked about McCain to a young vet at her booth, she had said, "we can't get into political discussions here."

He looked at her and said, "Lady, with all due respect, deciding whether to go to the bathroom in the morning before my wife can get in there, THAT is political, but talking about who gets to run this country of ours that the people in this room put their lives on the line, preserving it's freedom's, INCLUDING our freedom of speech? THAT is a matter of SURVIVAL!"

And yes, he was a biker with a set of dolphins on his vest.
Whoooooooahhhhhhhhhhhhhh . . most definite high five and hand shake

There's a reason why Rezko chose prison inmmediately rather than be free for a period of time before sentencing. He didn't want to become Vince Foster. I have a feeling he's been doing his best canary impression for the Feds, and giving them info on Blago and Obama.

I wonder why Obamas name ~wouldn't~ come up. He was the chairman of the hospital committee, and five of the eight members have already gone to jail or are cooperating with authorities to prevent them from going to jail.

Good Newsmax article with John Voight on his new movie "An American Carol" & BHO associations;
"Newsmax: You recently had an article in the Washington Times in which you expressed some of your views on Barack Obama. What would you say is your primary concern about Obama?

Voight: The influences that have created him. You know, if you look back into his past, and it’s not too distant because he’s not a very old fellow, you can see the influences that produced him. It was quite unusual to see at the Democratic Convention that the only people who could stand up for his character were people who a month earlier were saying that he was unqualified for the job, and shocked that he was running, actually. The Clintons and his vice presidential nominee, they were the only people who could speak for him. Can you imagine that the guys who know him best are all very extreme cases? They are characters who are very militant, very angry people.

Newsmax: Who are these influences?

Voight: Jeremiah Wright, Louis Farrakhan, William Ayers, Michael Pfleger."

Good exposure, even if it's from a conservative actor.

Obama is unelectable.

Middle American knows this. Though some of your friends may falter.

Assure them, even though the MSM tells them they're racist if they don't vote for Obama, he is the wrong black man to vote for.

Assure them, that voting for Obama is in fact a bigoted act, for he has lowered the bar for their party, and is unqualified to hold the highest office.

Assure them, that they in fact do not want their party to sink any lower than to accept a man who has no experience as an executive in any other venture than what he refuses to discuss.

Assure them, that his rise in politics is rife with dirty tricks; petitions to remove his candidates, reneging on his agreement to return his seat to an incumbent, a dirty leak of divorce proceedings only months before an election; negotiating with leaders of other countries, kicking off his campaign in the home of an unrepentant terrorist.

Assure them, that standing in front of Hitler's favorite monument, asserting that America is imperfect, and that he will perfect it, is not what statesmen do.

Assure them, that his gaffes off-teleprompter are not a result of fatigue, but an inability to adhere to a carefully constructed message.

Assure them, that his "christian" foundation is really rooted in black supremacism, and anti-American to its core - and deeply damaging to its adherents.

Assure them, that "Frank" in his first memoir, is actually Frank Marshal Davis, of the Communist Party of the USA.

Assure them, that any man who publishes an autobiography at age 28, with virtually no significant accomplishments, is most certainly a grand narcissist, and needs psychological help should he become destructive.

Assure them, that liberal policy can be taken too far, and point out to them how much they and their children, and their children's children will pay for the devastation wreaked on the economy by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac - just one liberal policy taken too far.

Assure them, that the world is indeed a dangerous place, made even more dangerous by no-standard multiculturalism.

Assure them, that the world would be far worse were it not for the global reach of the US Military, keeping the shipping lanes open, keeping dictators in check, kleptocrats cornered, and terrorists on the run.

Assure them that noble people are what make this world safe, secure, productive, beautiful and enjoyable, and that almost all noble people come from America, and that Democrats typically oppose the mechanisms that create noble people.

Assure them, that noble people do not grow up hating America as instructed by some drunken mentor, or stand in front of a fascist's idol and spout the same token diatribes. Assure them that real leaders may see tarnish on her armor, but will repel from the highest heights with a can of Brasso and a soft cloth to buff it out before calling attention to it.

Assure them, that in the entire history of America, it is our freedom - our freedom to think; our freedom to worship; our freedom to make friends; and yes, to make enemies; our freedom to dream; our freedom desire; our freedom to chance, and yes, our freedom to fail - is what has made America the most powerful economic engine ever experience by this earth.

And if they want all of that to go away... If they want to just... exist, with no challenge of life; pegged into a gray-wall housing complex; told when to go to work; when to get home; when to watch television; when mow their lawn; when to eat; when to sleep; when to vote...

Yeah, well. Then tell them to knock themselves out. And vote for Obama.

If you stay silent, you will prove again the truth of Edmund Burke's wisdom. "All that is required for Evil to triumph is that good men do nothing." Like Rick in "Casablanca", John, it is time to get back into the fight.

in 2003, we had to move mt elderly in laws to co from ny for health reasons. in 2004, my mil was living w/us at election time. as a lifelong dem she want to vote dem- we gently persuaded her to vote bush. this yr shes in asst living-and somewhat demented- i cant in good conscience persuade her to vote mccain- i just hope those in her residence dont push the vote

Hmmm.... I want to be gentle about this....
There's a very good chance that some group has already arranged for your mil to receive her absentee ballot at the residence and will "volunteer" to help her fill it out. And my guess is that there's a 99% chance that the volunteer would be Dem.

It's run of the mill kind of stuff.

Try to convince her that HRC will never have a chance if Obama takes over the party. That the Obamites screwed Hillary and hate her.
You respect her desire not to vote for McCain (cough, cough), but suggest that she refuse to vote for Obama. Heh.

Thanks for the advice - in the big picture it will not matter. I believe McCain will win (despite the low morale I see among the troops) but one vote in N.J. makes no difference because we are awash in Democrat corruption - no Republican wins here...so very sad.

Polls also call registered voters and that doesn't mean they will all be voting.
But what's the turnout something like 50%?

Fortunately for McCain --since if you look at the breakdown of age groups, he has the higher percentage of older voters --they are the most reliable about actually voting.

The least reliable are younger voters!

I think this year might well be an exception. The young and black votes are psyched for 0bama and I think they'll vote in much higher numbers (if the weather is nice).

Any discussion about Horowitz' books would not be complete without a mention of 'How to Beat the Democrats', which provides a concise summary of how Republicans could effectively present a party narrative that would repudiate the DNC dogma of being the champions of 'the little guys', and set the misled masses that Sharmuta mentions (and the country) on the road to economic prosperity, national security, and freedom for all citizens.

OT(?)

Stanley Kurtz slammed CNN (here) regarding their reference to NRO "debunking" Gov. Palin's linking of Obama and Bill Ayers.

Now, the CNN article (linked from Stanley Kurtz post) contains no reference to NRO. It was, "updated 7 minutes ago". Their current list of references?

Heh.

CNN still sources their opinion-news with lies - but at least they removed one of the layers. Peel back the layers and CNN is still lying.

Don't take this personally, but I get kind of tired of the Bush bashing. I'm probably in the minority, I guess - but after 9/11, the days and weeks afterward, I was changed. I never thought I'd feel secure as an American again.

But I healed.

It's not that I think we've been hit for the last time (especially if Obama wins...I think it will come sooner rather than later if that is the case), but one thing I will always be grateful to President Bush for is his handling of this issue, at least when it comes to our own soil.

Yes, my mother is too. She doesn't get it - she likes to say "oh I am a socialist" and I say "Are you now. So you don't mind giving up your daily shopping trips and your shoe collection that would make Imelda drool so that others can have some of them?" She says "if they work for it, they can have it". ummm, Mom? That isn't how socialism plays out...

Hahaha - that reminds me of a story a friend of mine passed on to me the other day.

A guy was talking to a young relative of his, a niece or some such thing. She was a little girl, maybe eight or nine. She was very concerned about the homeless.

So the uncle says, "I'll tell you what, honey. If you come over to my house, do some yard work, wash all the dishes, clean the bathrooms and make all the beds, I'll give you fifty dollars. Then, we can take the money downtown, and you can give it to the homeless people so they can buy something with it."

She looked at him, horrified, and said, "Why do I have to do all that stuff? Why can't THEY do it and get the money?"

I guess he laughed pretty hard, while her mother gave him a dirty look.

I am a democrat sort of and I get tired of it. . .how personal the attacks got, and just the sheer lunacy of the far left-

After painting him as dumb and an idiot- the left now states that he, GWB, pulled off 9-11 after a scant 8 months in office. . .and somehow was able to get terrorists into flight schools while gov. of Tx.

I think now that the way he was treated began the disillusion process for me- that is when the whole "are you going to believe the Democratic Party or what your lying eyes tell ya"

I believe he will be remembered quite differently than the Left wants. . .

I lived through those days and I hated, hated those smug bastards. Still do. They tried to destroy everything I love.

Here is another example of economic troubles in Europe:

Unicredit calls extraordinary board meeting

MILAN (MarketWatch) -- UniCredit SpA (UCG.MI) has called an extraordinary board meeting for Sunday afternoon to discuss and approve measures to shore up its financial position, people familiar with the matter said, as Italy's second-largest bank reacted to a turbulent week in which its stock fell to a 10-year low.
At the meeting, Unicredit's board is expected to approve a reduction in dividend - with an agreement to pay its shareholders in shares - these people said, as a way to help strengthen the bank's capital ratios, a measure of capital against risky assets. UniCredit has targeted a 6.2% Core Tier 1 ratio at the end of 2008 under Basel II.

Also in deep trouble are the Chicago Cubs, who are down 2 - 0 in the fourth.

Look's like Cubs fans will start working on a second hundred years of frustration

Also in the news:

No banks bail-out fund for Europe

Europe's biggest economies have agreed to work together to support financial institutions - but without forming a joint bail-out fund.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy hosted the meeting of the leaders of Britain, Germany and Italy in Paris.

They agreed to seek a relaxation of the EU rules governing the amount of money individual states could borrow.

Mr Sarkozy announced a series of other measures - including unspecified action against the executives of failed banks.

Speaking after the meeting at a joint news conference, he said the four had agreed that the leaders of a financial institution that had to be rescued should be "sanctioned".

Mr Sarkozy added: "Each government will operate with its own methods and means, but in a co-ordinated manner."

They are not doing the bail out cause they don't want to, it's cause they can't. This is why I always say that the EU has fewer monetary policy tools than the US does, they can't control their money supply as well as we do.

Just think if each state in the US had a seat on the Federal Reserve Board and could steer/block policy, same effect.
