Presidential Debate Thread 1

Politics | Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 5:58:34 pm PDT

This political battle of wits is about to begin. Here’s the embedded live video feed from C-SPAN; we’ll see how their bandwidth holds up tonight (it crapped out in the Palin-Biden debate). CNN also has a live feed here.

McCain is way down in the polls, as you probably know. This could be a make or break moment for him.

Question: What three things do Wright and Ayers have in common?
1. A belief that America deserves to be destroyed (damned, blown up, same thing)
2. A life dedicated to instilling that belief in the next generation.
3. Extensive time with Barack Obama just before and after he ran for office.

Significant? I think so.

England's banking system is hanging by a thread, Russia keeps closing its stock market & injecting money. This sucker is global and the waters are uncharted.

Most of the overseas markets were "built" on bubble economies (Japan), nationalized economies (most of Europe), and/or runaway inflation due to a combination of "cradle-to-grave" social programs and printing-press money (Europe again, especially France and Sweden). As for Russia, the entire country is run like Chicago under Snorky and Dutch Schultz.

They've needed a correction for a long time. It would have happened sooner or later. Better that it happen now- the damage may not yet be so pervasive as to be irreparable.

Unless your home value falls under reasonable margin of value over the remaining principal of the loan, you are not in trouble. But like it or not, if a lot of houses in your area are being foreclosed, your house value has already dropped.
