I wish McCain had been clearer on having the 10000 garages. The government isn't likely to pick the winner, but pick the one with the best lobbyists.

Health care, though, is a place McCain loses. His plan would cause employers to drop coverage. If they can't get the tax deduction for it, but can for pay, they'll drop the coverage and maybe give raises.
Fortunately I could buy it through Mass. Bar Association - at $1100 a month (last year, probably 12-1300/month now). If I had to go to an individual policy, it would be unaffordable, at my age and blood pressure (even if it is under control)).
Group, not individual coverage, is the only way, otherwise insurance companies make sure people who need coverage can't get it, because it will cost them.

Uh, Obama. My healthcare coverage has actually gone down by nearly $200 per month over the last five or six years. And the only thing that changed was moving to a different state.

Of course it's sucky coverage, as most self-employed people have.

Your dad is correct. When I was a child in the '60s, we had a Blue Cross/Blue Shield hospitalization policy and we just paid the doctor and paid for prescriptions. Why can't I buy that policy today?

Most folks here seem to think McCain is doing very well, judging by the comments I've seen, Cogito. How the media will spin that is a whole 'nother ballgame.

Seems to me a lot of people feel McCain isn't doing so well, also, though... Hard to get a read on it. Skimming the comments here and listening to the last few questions since I turned on the debate, it seems like this may not be the thumping McCain needed to deliver, tonight.

When Obama says "The tragedy of 9-11", he is telling us that it is not likely to happen again, that it was more like an act of nature, that the War on Terror has little or nothing to do with preventing another 9-11, that the money can be better spent than on protecting us from terrorists.

We chose the battlefield, we rid the world of Saadam, we drew al qaida in and have been destroying them, we have protected the homeland, and we are sitting on Iran's doorstep.

Obama wanted and wants none of that.

In the first debate, he said that Iraq was Iran's mortal enemy, and that "the current administration's policies" have emboldened Iran by eliminating the Iraqi balance. In other words, he pretty much said, in his own words, that Saddam staying in power would have been a good thing for the sake of stability.

Amazing how O thinks we shouldn't have gone into Iraq, but it would be good for us to go into... say... Darfur. Uh-huh. Can't have it both ways, mister!

What's he talking about the Holocaust for? He's only going to use the troups in case of genocide? Oh, I see he wants to call in air strikes in Darfur? (This is this year's approved Liberal politically correct military intervention).
