Prayers for Dean Barnett

Wed, Oct 8, 2008 at 6:25:41 pm PDT

Dean Barnett is in trouble tonight, and he could use a few prayers (even from you godless atheists).

My friend Duane “Generalissimo” Patterson tells me that Dean has had to be admitted to the hospital and is currently in the ICU with a terrible attack of his cystic fibrosis, and that the prognosis doesn’t look good. I’d like to ask Hot Air readers for their prayers for my friend and his family. I know they will appreciate the support.

I've followed Dean Barnett since he was at Hugh Hewitt.com. He's really one-of-a-kind. My prayers are with him.

4 JammieWearingFool  Wed, Oct 8, 2008 6:28:34pm

Said this elsewhere already, but Godspeed to Dean. Go back years with him at Soxblog trading jabs over baseball, which seems so insignificant now.

I know how much he loved his Sawx, and this Yankee fan says a prayer for him.

Cystic fibrosis -- a very difficult disease to cope with. Genetic. Not much anyone can do about it.

Dear Lord, please comfort this, thy humble servant, in his time of need. Give him strength, and, if it is your will, take him unto your bosom where we shall meet again one day, drinking the blessed, cool waters of your Love, which is without beginning or end. Give his family and friends solace, should we have to carry on without him. This we humbly pray, Amen.

59 neocon hippie  Wed, Oct 8, 2008 7:08:32pm

Always admired Dean's work whether written or on the radio. I hope he can pull through. And it happens to be Yom Kippur eve.

I had a great uncle named Ben Barnett, really nice man (my aunt was your stereotypical Jewish mother type). I don't think there are that many Jewish Barnetts in greater Boston, so I've wondered if Dean is related.

Very sad. Be quite careful if it a friend you want to keep. A very dear long-time friend of mine has turned into a raving obamabot, we have had to agree not to speak at all right now trying to preserve the friendship, and I'm still not sure it will survive.

My niece and her friend signed me up for match.com after my divorce without telling me so they could screen the responses (if there were any, lol). She's 16 and has been in my truck numerous times and always wanted to listen to top 40 crap on the radio even though she's known since she was a little kid I listen Rush, Hannity, Levin, Boortz, etc. She actually made the headline for the ad they created "Liberals Need Not Apply", since she knew I detested libs and would'nt date one no matter what she looked like. I thought that was pretty funny!

Prayers for Dean Barnett and RW- "Hang in dear da bote of ya", as my Italin Uncle Joe would say.

Stevieray- Thanks for the heads-up about Adobe Flash 10 Beta (and to the others who offered advice on the previous thread). It seems to have solved the problem.

I have a friend who has stopped speaking to me. I usually don't talk politics with liberals because I've found alot of them will attack you personally, even if you're a friend, for not agreeing with their politics. This friend was going off on Sarah Palin's looks and mothering abilities and all I said was that if we as women allow any woman to be attacked for those things, we are condoning sexism. She basically said, "Well, she's a Republican so who cares."

The worst part for me is that from the point at which he became an obamabot, he has made no cogent arguments. It has all been talking points, insults, and crazed rantings against "big oil" and other big-this and big-that. Amazingly he is retired AF. And a very intelligent person. But the intolerance for anything but a lockstep opinion has made him nearly ready to even distance himself from family! Insanity! Not to mention the fact that it just drips irony how much real life DIVISION I have seen and heard of as a direct result of the great "uniter's" candidacy.

Powerline is going with the story that Barack Obama ran as a New Party candidate at least in 1996 when he was only 8 years old. Okay, he was thirty-five. Acting like eight though.

Oh, yes PDS, Planetary Data System. Have they detected the alien ships yet? I'm waiting for the impending doom when we are attacked by aliens from the planet "We Hate Earth People", thus saving me from the pain of going through the next election.

Oh, wait, am I being negative? Damn! :)

O Lord Almighty, the Healer of our souls and bodies, You Who put down and raise up, Who chastise and heal also; do You now, in Your great mercy, visit our brother Dean, who is sick. Stretch forth Your hand that is full of healing and health, and get him up from his bed, and cure him of his illness. Put away from him the spirit of disease and of every malady, pain and fever to which he is bound; and if he has sins and transgressions, grant to him remission and forgiveness, in that You love mankind; yea, Lord my God, pity Your creation, through the compassions of Your Only-Begotten Son, together with Your All-Holy, Good and Life-creating Spirit, with Whom You are blessed, both now and ever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.

OT - The latest on the Holy Land trial:

Double-jeopardy claimed in Holy Land Foundation terrorism financing trial

By JASON TRAHAN / The Dallas Morning News

Attorneys for a defendant in the Holy Land Foundation terrorism financing case asked a federal judge Wednesday to dismiss the charges against their client because they say FBI testimony tainted the jury by treading too closely to his prior convictions.

U.S. District Judge Jorge Solis is expected to rule on whether to drop the case against Ghassan Elashi, Holy Land's former board chairman and co-founder, on double jeopardy-grounds by Tuesday, when the trial resumes after Monday's federal holiday for Columbus Day.

Judge Solis denied oral requests made late Wednesday by attorneys for all five defendants for a mistrial and to have their cases severed from Mr. Elashi's. If Judge Solis deems that charges should be dropped against Mr. Elashi, the trial of the other four would presumably continue, but that was not completely clear Wednesday evening...

Twenty-Third Psalm

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures;
he leads me beside still waters;
he restores my soul.
He leads me in right paths for his name's sake.
Even though I walk through the darkest valley,
I fear no evil;
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff--they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
my whole life long.
