A clown is funny in the circus ring, but what would be the normal reaction to opening a door at midnight and finding the same clown standing there in the moonlight?

A clown running for president of the United States is kind of scary too.

My reaction would be one of hysterical, maniacal laughter.

Let's see who's the crazier one.

Grassroots “Kids for Obama Parade” (Organizing)
On Sunday, October 12, Washington State kids and families will parade around Seattle’s Green Lake. “Kids for Obama Parade” will illustrate one of Barack Obama’s core beliefs: Everyone’s voice counts. Join us as Obama’s youngest supporters rally their families and call for change, for a better America. At 2 pm, rain or shine, children and teens will express with words and drawings their hopes for the future of America on “wish flags” that will be mailed to Obama. The first 300 kids will be given a helium balloon, an expression of solidarity. At 3 pm, the “Kids for Obama Parade” will skip, toddle, stroller, rollerblade, pedal, and red-wagon clockwise around Green Lake in a cloud of red, white, and blue balloons and a garland of kid-made wish flags. How to prepare? If possible, bring home-made signs and wear red, white, and/or blue clothing. That goes for moms, dads, big brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles, grandparents too. Please spread the word.
Time: Sunday, October 12 at 2:00 PM
Duration: 3 hours
Host: Erika Berg
Location:
Green Lake (Seattle, WA)
beside the Bathhouse Theater

Also these:

al-Taqiyya part 1, part 2, part 3

Written by a Muslim, for Muslims; all quotes are sourced. The writer states his intention in the second paragraph:

I intend to demonstrate and prove that the concept of "al-Taqiyya" is an integral part of Islam, and that it is NOT a Shi'ite concoction.

Funnier actually. Unexpectedness and all.

36 quickredfox  Fri, Oct 10, 2008 9:48:06pm

It looks like this may be a coulrophobia thread.

p.s. I'm not exactly a newly-hatched lizard, but rather, one that has shed old skin for new. Formerly known as wannabuyaduck, with a nod to Joe Penner, I had been thinking for awhile about how I would really like to put up a fox avatar, having always liked foxes with their looks and nature combining something of the dog and something of the cat (when I was a kid it would annoy me that the foxes were almost always the villains in stories and cartoons) -- and nowadays, most of my gainful employment involves qwerty work, so it seemed fitting enough. The question of brown fox or red fox was solved by the fact that though I am in one of the bluest of areas, I have more of a red-state state of mind. So here I am, same lizard but new skin -- not a sock, not a troll!

And on a personal note, I found out this evening that I may get laid off the last full week of the month. There's a chance I won't, thanks to my particular training, but it's only a chance right now. In a week I should know for certain one way or the other.

Nevertheless, I'm still able to smile tonight. I'll be able to pay my rent for next month, cover the bills for this month, and I'm going to a gathering of like-minded types tomorrow. Life is... well, let's just say it doesn't suck.

Dude. You should really seek the advise of a financial planner - you and the Mrs., bring the kids - all 17 of them.

A stock here or there might make you rich - or unbelievably f*cking poor.

Get your dollars allocated according to a risk/reward spectrum you're comfortable with, and f*cking leave it there. Update your goals annually. If your planner is reluctant to have an annual meeting, move your dough.

it likely was a contributing factor.

What?

It is also "likely" that Obama knew that Ayers and Dohrn were unrepentant domestic terrorists when he first met them in 1988...
It is also "likely" that Obama was criminally involved with Tony Rezko...
It is also "likely" that Obama's paid surrogate Acorn is heavily involved in voter freud in several swing states...
It is also "likely" that Obama not only knew about Acorns voter freud efforts, but funded them...
It is also "likely" that Obama was sitting in his pew with his wife and children while Reverend Jeremiah Wright was spewing his "hate-whitey", "hate America" rhetoric...
It is also "likely" Nancy Pelosi awarded her husband's company several government contracts illegally...
It is also "likely" that Dianne Finestein awarded her husbands company several government contracts illegally...
It is also "likely" that Obama was working with known Saudi terrorist supporter Dr. Khalid al-Mansour...
It is also "likely" that Obama knowingly sent his Muslim outreach director to meet with Hamas and Hezbollah...

Shall I go continue?

it likely was a contributing factor....

Seriously I know a French woman how did bear 17 children and was awarded a Mother of the Country award. Her husband left her for a younger woman.

If I recall, I may have once claimed to be 87 years old, here, with a vast brood of children.

It may or may not be true.

You sound like me on the last full time job I had. I couldn't wait to get laid off.
I was quality control of a software product. I would break it, write up how I broke it, then the programmers would fix some of the bugs, all the while selling the product like it was ready to roll.

I knew the company was going down the tubes. I was right. Today, they are history.

Been there, done that. The second full-time IT job I had. Only, I didn't leave of my own volition.

Then again, the jerk who fired me was caught two months later in a monstrous lie, when he told his boss the department's assignment could be done in two weeks. The rank-and-file then told their boss's boss (on their own) that two weeks didn't have enough hours to get the work done... more like six weeks if everyone worked 24/7.

Jerk was gone very shortly after that.

Somali pirates release hijacked Iranian ship

TEHRAN (AFP) — Pirates released an Iranian ship that had been hijacked off the Somali coast in August, state news agency IRNA reported on Friday.

"The ship Dianat was released on Friday morning after seven weeks of ... negotiations with Somali pirates," the state-owned Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines said in statement carried by the agency.

"All 29 members of the crew are safe and sound and the ship is sailing towards international waters," it said.

The report did not say whether ransom was paid. [YA THINK?]

The merchant vessel was headed from China to the Netherlands carrying minerals and industrial products when it was hijacked on August 21 along with a German and a Japanese ship off the Gulf of Aden.

The waters off Somalia and Nigeria are the most pirate-infested in the world.

Hon - I did not think of that - it is my swan song - you are in a good place.

Are they COMPLETELY INSANE

My God, what has happened to this world when a foundation of a close personal friend and supporter of Ronald Reagan give a $100 Million grant to two unrepentant domestic terrorists?
Only in the land of Kos could this make any sense (and Chicago of course)...

A lot of the foundations (like the Ford Foundation, and the Heinz Foundation) are now run by liberals, and give money to all kinds of crazy causes. Here's a good article, in PDF format.

True. He was the world's greatest pantomimist, which is what silent-movie actors are. He would have made the transition to talkies quite nicely, too, but he died shortly after they became the norm. In fact, he was originally cast as Dracula in the original. That would have been cool, though I don't think Bela Lugosi ever would have been discovered.

Agreed. I think a lot of the crap that arose in the 60's was the result of parents of the greatest generation trying to make it easier on their kids, with the unintended consequence of spoiling the shit out of them. What Bill Clinton said recently about Barney Frank, Dems, and Fannie Mae:

Three years later, President Clinton’s Department of Housing and Urban Development tried to impose a new regulation on Fannie, but was thwarted by Frank. Clinton now blames such Democrats for planting the seeds of today’s economic crisis.

"I think the responsibility that the Democrats have may rest more in resisting any efforts by Republicans in the Congress or by me when I was president, to put some standards and tighten up a little on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac," Clinton said recently.

I hope that in the next debate, McCain will grab Obama by his acorns and beat him over the head with them.

McCain has nothing to lose at this point by being aggressive. He needs to show the great middle why they should move to him.

Whenever a candidate is moving to the middle, he is giving ground.

McCain is now in a position where his only option left is to fight as if winning matters.

I am pulling for him. I think he has it in him. He just needs to show the rest of the world that he has it.

Born in 1987. Do you know how old that makes me feel?

I know what you mean. I felt old when I learned that this year's college freshmen were so young that:

Harry Potter could be a classmate, playing on their Quidditch team.

Since they were in diapers, karaoke machines have been annoying people at parties.

They have always been looking for Carmen Sandiego.

GPS satellite navigation systems have always been available.

Coke and Pepsi have always used recycled plastic bottles.

Shampoo and conditioner have always been available in the same bottle.

Gas stations have never fixed flats, but most serve cappuccino.

Their parents may have dropped them in shock when they heard George Bush announce “tax revenue increases.”

Electronic filing of tax returns has always been an option.

Girls in head scarves have always been part of the school fashion scene.

All have had a relative--or known about a friend's relative--who died comfortably at home with Hospice.

As a precursor to “whatever,” they have recognized that some people “just don’t get it.”

Universal Studios has always offered an alternative to Mickey in Orlando.

Grandma has always had wheels on her walker.

Martha Stewart Living has always been setting the style.

Haagen-Dazs ice cream has always come in quarts.

Club Med resorts have always been places to take the whole family.

WWW has never stood for World Wide Wrestling.

Films have never been X rated, only NC-17.

The Warsaw Pact is as hazy for them as the League of Nations was for their parents.

Students have always been "Rocking the Vote.”

Clarence Thomas has always sat on the Supreme Court.

Schools have always been concerned about multiculturalism.

We have always known that “All I Ever Really Needed to Know I Learned in Kindergarten.”

There have always been gay rabbis.

Wayne Newton has never had a mustache.

College grads have always been able to Teach for America.

IBM has never made typewriters.

Roseanne Barr has never been invited to sing the National Anthem again.

McDonald’s and Burger King have always used vegetable oil for cooking french fries.

They have never been able to color a tree using a raw umber Crayola.

There has always been Pearl Jam.

Pee-Wee has never been in his playhouse during the day.

They never tasted Benefit Cereal with psyllium.

They may have been given a Nintendo Game Boy to play with in the crib.

Authorities have always been building a wall along the Mexican border.

Lenin’s name has never been on a major city in Russia.

Employers have always been able to do credit checks on employees.

Balsamic vinegar has always been available in the U.S.

Macaulay Culkin has always been Home Alone.

Their parents may have watched The American Gladiators on TV the day they were born.

Personal privacy has always been threatened.

Caller ID has always been available on phones.

Living wills have always been asked for at hospital check-ins.

The Green Bay Packers (almost) always had the same starting quarterback.

They never heard an attendant ask “Want me to check under the hood?”

The scary part? How many of those will hear that Obama's a liberal and think either, "So what?" or, "That's great."

My 10-second ad: Senator Obama, in his 4 years and only xx votes in the Senate, has managed to achieve the rating of most liberal member of the Senate.

Considering that the Senate contains avowed Socialist Bernie Sanders, that's really saying something.

I'm John McCain, and I approved this message.

/Americans don't vote for liberals--Carter and Clinton RAN as moderates, and Obama's trying to portray himself that way

Aaaaaaaaand just when you thought you could start feeling better:

Appeals court sides with Ohio Secretary of State.

These people are dangerous. We may have seen our last free and fair presidential election in this country.

It will be appealed.

ACORN has been known for ages, and just now it is getting exposure.
Sounds like the MSM, is trying to give the illusion that they are being fair and balanced in their reporting.

I fear it may be too little too late.

I remember being on vacation with my parents in the '70's and them freaking out when they had to pay 75 cents for a gallon of gas, THEN a couple of miles down there was one for 72 cents. They were all freaked out because they thought they got robbed.

Oh, and I was going to quit smoking when they got to $1 a pack.

Me to...LOL...now i buy it by the can,,and roll my own.

1962? Curious as to how exposed you were to the "revolutions" of the period as a kid. I got irradiated with eco-friendly in elementary...

All kids these days are irradiated with eco-friendly. They are preparing the Young Gaianeers to turn in all their parents who use standard incandescents instead of the Goreacle approved twisty bulbs to the Carbon Footprint Police.

Hafta push 'em real hard. 'Course, if there was a way to make 'em tumble, so much the better.

Yes, but that takes time which is running short.

Just read this and watched the videos. McCain supporters should be aware they might be set up to star in the next YouTube special. I think that lady in the other video (he's an arab remark) was a plant by someone on the Obama side. I will be glad when this election is over.

I could give a rat's ass about msm exposure- we need FBI exposure and we are. The msm can't keep that under wraps forever.

I personally find there's nothing wrong with cleaning up neighborhoods or driving as much vehicle as you need...at least in itself. If there's a MANDATORY AGENDA behind it though...that makes it different altogether.

/caps very intended.

Quite possible. I get suspicious when there is a vid cam in just the right place at just the right time for something like this.
