Good advice, but his positions weren't self-evidently wrong, so I took the time to explain to him why he was wrong, and I told him the alternative is individual rights and freedom. I think it's vital to give the alternative, otherwise they may know of no options. There is always a chance this will seep in.

I have been able to get such people to think in the past, so it's not all hopeless.

Brit Hume just showed it on FOX News. It was the picture of the four people wearing this same shirt "Sarah Palin is a ****" posed outside some Palin event in NJ or NY (I first saw this picture earlier today at LGF on an earlier thread.) The screen was fuzzy over the word so you couldn't read it.
