Look at that first paragraph --
TOLEDO, Ohio, (AFP) - Republican John McCain has a third and final chance to debate his way back into contention when he faces his hard-charging White House rival Barack Obama in New York on Wednesday.
Back into contention, lol.

Canada remains Conservative -- although yet another Minority government.
I have not yet lived under a proper Conservative Majority. I would LOVE to see what one could do for my country.

Indeed -- Harper is working wonders for the Conservatives.
Although, they say the main reason is because the liberal vote is split between the Liberals and the New Democrat Part (NDP) (read: left and farther left). Of course, Quebec stole a hell of a lot seats as usual with their Bloc Quebecois. The seperatist party that can never become a majority government, but loves to cause so many problems as a large minority that campaigns in only one of the 10 Canadian provinces.

Re: Obama's stance on abortion:
April 4, 2002: OBAMA CAUGHT ON TAPE ARGUING AGAINST GIVING MEDICAL ATTENTION TO ABORTED BABIES WHO ARE STILL ALIVE.
Obama opposed SB1663 arguing he had "confidence" that the abortionist - who was invested in attempting to kill the child pre-delivery - would not mind revealing his or her botch by calling a 2nd physician to ensure the child was given proper medical attention and revived if possible.
Obama thought it remarkable to suspect an abortionist of having a subjective medical opinion about his new second patient. It didn't occur to Obama that the abortionist might also be invested in seeing the baby dead to preclude malpractice lawsuits down the road if the baby were found not to have pre-birth diagnosed defects, an overriding reason for these late-term induced labor abortions.
But Obama's most telling statement from the clip was to say this bill "is really designed simply to burden the original decision of the woman and the physician to induce labor and perform an abortion."
In other words, if a baby were to survive his or her abortion, the death plan marked out for this child should be carried out nonetheless.

So, was it Reagan trailing Carter by this margin, and GWB trailing Al Gore by this margin, at this stage prior to the election? I thought that's what I heard Bill O'Reilly saying on his radio program tonight, but I mostly tune him out so I just barely caught it.
I don't know if the situation is as dire as the media would like us to believe. That said, I hope McCain gets the TKO tomorrow night.

Belize - are you nuts?
They don't have black flies and mosquitoes there!
LOL.
They sure as hell have mosquitoes there.
10 Wild Things to Watch Out For
As a sub-tropical and tropical country, Belize is rich in life forms, including some that are not very nice to human beings. Fortunately, most visitors to Belize aren't bothered by these denizens of the wild, save for the occasional mozzie or no-see-um bites.
# 1 No-see-ums (sandflies, sandfleas, midge gnats, purrujas)
These buggers are twice as mean as mozzies -- watch out for them near mangrove swamps and on a windless day on the coast or cayes; Avon Skin-So-Soft may help some.
# 2 Mozzies
Some mosquitos in Belize do carry dangerous diseases including malaria and dengue fever. Many visitors to Belize are surprised, though, that mosquitoes are not as bad as they feared. The nearly constant winds on the cayes keeps mozzies at bay, and much of Cayo District escapes the plague of these bugs. They are worse in the late summer after periods of rain, and in southern Belize (which gets more rain than any other part of the country.)
# 3 Botfly
This little horror, happily not a problem for most visitors, gets the help of a mosquito to place its egg under your skin which can grow to the size of your thumb-- yecch! Lure the "doctor fly" out with a slab of fatback or bacon placed over the entrance; kill it by smothering it to death with vaseline or glue; or apply the sap of the bot killer tree, or some say, a piece of tobacco.
# 4 Yellow-jawed tommygoff (fer-de-lance)
This highly poisonous snake attacks aggressively. It has heat-seeking fangs and can strike accurately even in the dark. Avoid it, and if by rare chance you are bitten get medical attention immediately. Belize has about 20 types of poisonous snakes of which "only" nine are deadly.
# 5 "Alligators"
Called thus by many Belizeans, but Belize actually has only crocodiles, the larger American and the smaller Morelet's. Occasional attacks on humans are recorded in Belize.
# 6 Scorpions
These are common all over Belize. They are often present in the walls of buildings (avoid leaving wet towels out) or in thatch roofs. Their sting hurts, usually not much worse than the sting of a wasp, and isn't fatal.
# 7 Warries (White-Lipped Peccary)
Peccaries are related to pigs. White-Lipped Peccaries, now rare in Belize, travel in large herds. If you hear loud bellowing, screeching and tooth-clacking (and don't happen to be in Big Daddy's late at night), climb the nearest tree, as warries can be hazardous to your health.
# 8 Killer bees
The stings of Africanized bees hurt no more than those of ordinary honeybees, but killer bees are far more aggressive and ill-tempered. They have killed many cattle and other livestock in Belize, and in Costa Rica at least 16 human deaths have been attributed to killer bee attacks. Virtually all the honeybees you see in Belize are now Africanized and are present in most areas, even Ambergris Caye. If you stumble on a hive, try to get under a roof (bees usually won't follow you under a shelter) or into water.
# 9 Tarantulas
You may see one of these furry balls of fun on the rainforest floor or even on a village sidewalk. Their bite can be painful but isn't serious. Some people keep these as pets.
# 10 Jaws and other sea critters
Belize has all the usual denizens of the deep -- sharks, stingrays, barracuda, moray eels, fire coral, etc. Most of these are as harmless as sheepdogs, as least according to the guys at the dive shop.
Honorable Mention: Vampire bats
Belize does have vampire bats, whose bite may cause rabies, but unless you sleep outside a lot without clothes on, don't worry. Belize's many species of bats do worlds of good, from eating mozzies to pollinating fruit.

Not to mention NDP commies.
We have the NDP because they have deep roots in our culture. The old stock founding peoples of Canada are more collectivist than the Americans. However, some of the newer immigrant groups such as those from Asia could tilt the balance toward the right. Our conservatism is still likely to remain more similar to that of Europeans, though, because we have a different history from the Americans. My two cents' worth anyway.

How does that relate to this video, where Obama states that the FIRST 100 DAYS AFTER HE IS ELECTED, ACORN AND FRIENDS WILL HELP SHAPE HIS ADMINISTRATION.

Half the fun will be watching how he tries to spin his way out of the hole he's dug.

The good news is that right now I get the NHL network and the free trail version of the NHL Center Ice ticket.
However, this also means that along with the CBC or Rogers coverage, I've been treated to Green party adverts. For example, 30 seconds of some dour, frumpy bespectacled-looking woman on a bus going on and on about the gap between the wealthy and the poor in Canada. Apparently working Canadians just aren't doing their part and need to pay more taxes for the 'greater good' (seemed to be the jist of what she's getting at).
I'm sure Canucks like Hugh Rowland or Alex Debagorski would be thrilled to get paid less and less for driving 18-wheelers across frozen lakes or the Arctic Ocean to help support the drug addicts and welfare cheats of Montreal or Vancouver.

Hey, check this out:
The Most Advanced Quadruped Robot on Earth
BigDog is the alpha male of the Boston Dynamics family of robots. It is a quadruped robot that walks, runs, and climbs on rough terrain and carries heavy loads. BigDog is powered by a gasoline engine that drives a hydraulic actuation system. BigDog's legs are articulated like an animal’s, and have compliant elements that absorb shock and recycle energy from one step to the next. BigDog is the size of a large dog or small mule, measuring 1 meter long, 0.7 meters tall and 75 kg weight.BigDog has an on-board computer that controls locomotion, servos the legs and handles a wide variety of sensors. BigDog’s control system manages the dynamics of its behavior to keep it balanced, steer, navigate, and regulate energetics as conditions vary. Sensors for locomotion include joint position, joint force, ground contact, ground load, a laser gyroscope, and a stereo vision system. Other sensors focus on the internal state of BigDog, monitoring the hydraulic pressure, oil temperature, engine temperature, rpm, battery charge and others.
In separate trials, BigDog runs at 4 mph, climbs slopes up to 35 degrees, walks across rubble, and carries a 340 lb load.
This thing looks creepy, but it really would be handy in bringing a quartered moose out of the bush...

Canada could easily be as fiscally conservative as the US or more so.
Especially after what we did in the last two weeks, lol!
But we could never be as socially conservative, particularly as long as Quebec is part of Canada. We have a different culture and traditions.

Yes, but the old-stock Anglo Canadians are also a bit more like the British than you Americans are---more statist, less individualist. Canada started out as an alliance between the conquered French colonists and people of British descent, of whom a large proportion were originally your Loyalists from the American Revolution.

That was Elizabeth May, the leader of the Green Party. She has never been elected and she lost this time too. The Green Party has no elected members of Parliament. They got about 9% of the popular vote (including a lot of strategic or protest votes), but elected zero members. They are so far a harmless party, and actually serve a useful purpose by helping to split the leftard vote.

Hi undecided voters! Yes, we know what you're probably thinking: "hey, it's those two smirking hipster *ssholes in the 'Sarah Palin Is a C---' t shirts." We also realize that you probably find our brand of narcissistic street theater loathsome and tedious… No rational human being could be blamed for wanting us to just shut the f*ck up, finish our bottled water, and go away. Luckily, there's an easy way you can make that happen: vote for Barack Obama.
We know what you're thinking -- "that sounds awesome, but what about the angry right wingers? Won't they suddenly start storming congressional hearings and vandalizing military recruiting stations? Won't they start producing Obama assassination fantasy plays at the local college?" Don't worry, as members of the incoming Administration, we will identify any potential troublemakers and prosecute them to the full extent of President Obama's new civility laws. And with the re-establishment of the Fairness Doctrine, you won't have to worry about accidentally tuning into right wing hate radio.

In 2004 ACORN said your vote was worth ....... $ 2.00 ..... today with inflation ..... who knows .....
ACORN FRAUD IN 2004 FLORIDA - $2.00 PER :
Florida ACORN also registered thousands of felons — who, under Florida law, are ineligible to vote. They can, technically, apply for a restoration of civil rights; according to former Florida ACORN worker Mac Stuart — who has filed a whistleblower lawsuit against his ex-employer — ACORN exploited this hope in order to get felons to sign voter-registration cards. "We'd go up to them and say, 'Want your civil rights restored?' That's the pitch we were using. But those forms are not worth the paper they're printed on — there hasn't been any instance of clemency under the last two governors," Stuart claims. The forms became doubly worthless after Florida ACORN was through with them: "The restoration-of-civil-rights forms would go into the garbage," Stuart says. The voter-registration forms, however, were kept safe — as they were worth much more.
That's because each registration played a valuable part in Floridians For All's alleged pay-per-voter scheme. Stuart claims that Florida ACORN paid workers $2 for each voter registration they collected, and claims he has receipts to prove it. While it is permissible to pay an individual to register voters, "paying workers per registration," explains EPI spokesman Mike Burita, "is a felony in Florida — counted on a per-violation basis — so there could be thousands of crimes here."

I'm pretty sure it is. Sylvester inherits a fortune, Elmer Fudd wants him to invest it properly, and the neighborhood alley cats are trying to get it (including "Charlie" who poses as a salesman for the "Hi Ho Silver Cleaning Company of Walla Walla, Washington"). Elmer explains the purpose and benefits of investing with a film, and Sylvester sneaks the money away and is ready to hand it over to the cats. The alley cats, who have also been watching the film, chastise Sylvester, and accuse him of trying to wreck the economy, so Sylvester hands over the money to be invested.
You know, I wonder how many Obama voters would be astounded by even the basic economic knowledge in Heir Conditioned and Yankee Dood It?

They are taught NOT to work hard, that they can be lazy and finish last but still be given what everyone that works hard is given. And we wonder why Obama is so popular with the young people. However- I would like to say that, imo, Pixar does produce quality films that show our underlying values. And there is the Veggie Tales videos. So, we're not completely without media.

The following is a transmission channeled through Commander August Stahr from Commander Ashtar on 9.30.08 explaining how the “desire for sightings” has triggered the Planetary Shift you have all been waiting for.
*snip*
How can this be? True change comes from within and the “change of guard” on the inner levels is complete. Each person will be guided in new directions for the betterment of themselves and mankind as it was always meant to be. This time in the Earth’s history will be remembered as Earth’s wake up call, the decision point for moving in a new direction which will bring about changes for the better in all areas of your life. Barack Obama is the right man for this moment in Earth’s history. He will be elected to the U.S. Presidency and he will go on to two terms which will fully anchor in the new direction the U.S. and the World will embark upon. (emphasis added)

Good morning folks.
Canadian election results are in and Stephen Harper's Conservatives have won a minority gov't, which is what they had before the election. Harper was hoping for a majority, but will have to make do with a somewhat stronger minority position. Considering the economy mess would tend to hurt the incumbant, this has to be seen as a modest success for Harper.
The Liberals were the big losers, which means Stephane Dion is toast. He basically sucked on the campaign trail. Dion has been described as "Al Gore, but without the macho charisma". Ouch.
NDP leader Jack Layton, who was accurately described as "alert as a chihauhau at the mail slot", managed to hold on as the 3rd party, but no better.
The Greens got more votes but no seats. The Bloc took 50 seats in Quebec, increasing their base.
House of Commons seats will look like this:
CON 143
LIB 76
BQ 50
NDP 37
IND 2
Which means no 2 opposition parties will have enough votes to block the Conservatives. The chances of getting the 3 opposition parties to agree on anything are next to nil. This means Harper will have an effective, if not absolute, majority gov't.

Yep: Here are the totals:
Conservatives: 141 Elected, 2 Leading. Total: 143
Liberals: 74 Elected, 3 Leading. Total: 77
Bloc Québécois: 48 Elected, 1 Leading. Total: 49
New Democratic Party: 35 Elected, 2 Leading. Total: 37
Independent: 2 Elected, 0 Leading. Total: 2Grits Lost Big Time! Harper gets a stronger minority government.
Macker -
The "Grit" leader had to be the worst ever. He made former PM Martin look like Sir Winston by comparison. Noticed that Newmarket-Aurora reverted to Tory with Belinda Stronach sitting this election out. All in all a successful evening for PM Harper. Methinks that when the history is written, PM Harper will be for Canada as Reagan was for the US.

Could someone explain white smoke to me?
it's a hold over from my Usenet days on AFM/UMA:
Smoke and Pyro
White Smoke---Covering/Screening only
Yellow Smoke---Designated target (Fire at will)
Purple Smoke---All after is sarcastic
Green Smoke---Kook Identifed
White Star Cluster---All Clear
Yellow Star Cluster---Cease-fire
Red Star Cluster---Danger
Some Examples:
Red says something smart and instead of "ducking," pops white smoke and disengages.
Anyone needing assistance might designate a post (or a thread in the subject line) with yellow smoke.
Prior to typing a sarcastic remark, "pop purple smoke." When removing tounge from cheek, send up a White Star Cluster.
Green star clusters would probaly be most effective for the person on SGT Casey's duty roster with an addition to a subject line.
Yellow star clusters used to designate a friendly under fire or to initiate compromise under a misunderstanding.
Red star custer, any kind of warning.

Wait, I must have missed him throwing our beloved Jesse Jackson under the bus.
Obama Camp Rejects Jackson's Claim That He Would Diminish 'Zionist' Influence
Barack Obama's campaign stepped in quickly Tuesday to distance itself from a claim by the Rev. Jesse Jackson that "Zionists" would lose clout under an Obama administration.
The move was the latest chapter in what appears to be a protracted falling-out between the two Chicago figures -- each of whom represents a different age of political activism.
Jackson made the remarks to the World Policy Forum in France last week, according to The New York Post. The civil rights activist reportedly said that "Zionists who have controlled American policy for decades" would lose some of their influence with Obama in the White House, and that "decades of putting Israel's interests first" would come to a close.
Obama's campaign denied that assertion on Tuesday.
"Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr. is not an adviser to the Obama campaign and is therefore in no position to interpret or share Barack Obama's views on Israel and foreign policy," Obama national security spokeswoman Wendy Morigi said in a statement.
"As he has made clear throughout his career and throughout this campaign, Barack Obama has a fundamental commitment to a strong U.S.-Israel relationship ... As president, he will ensure that Israel can defend itself from every threat it faces, stand with Israel in its quest for a secure peace with its neighbors, and use all elements of American power to end Iran's illicit nuclear program.
"No false charges can change Barack Obama's unshakeable commitment to Israel's security."

I'm feeling a great deal more optimistic about the election now. Obama's vile associations are starting to hurt despite the best efforts of goebbelist media to cover for him.
The drop in fuel costs will also be crucial, since this is an immediate and personal issue for virtually the entire electorate.
A lot will depend on how McCain does in the debate tonight, but he has a history of near-miraculous comebacks from seemingly hopeless situations, starting with the Forrestal fire, through the purgatory of communist captivity, and continuing right up to the primary campaign this year.

Okay check out this guy in the WSJ who says Bill Ayers is a model citizen. he says he knows Ayers now for 10 years and he is just swell. i'm not kidding. Here is the email I sent him. I encourage everyone to give him your comments as well.
"Ayers a model citizen? what planet are you from? i'm sure there are people who would say the same about Osama bin Laden, or would have said the same about Timothy McVeigh.
Maybe in your circles this kind of person is a "model citizen", but where I come from we expect that the president of the US might actually have just a bit sharper sense of right and wrong, and discriminate a bit more in his relationships. Nobody cares about people like you, or the other professors who might want to rub shoulders with the guy. Don't try to turn it into a mass indictment of everyone.
"Deep down Bill Ayers hates what this country stands for, and the fact that Barack Obama doesn't get that or would turn a blind eye to it makes him unfit to be POTUS."

Two possible explanations:
1. McCain is setting Obama up for a surprising new and damaging revelation about Ayers.
2. McCain is trying to calm nervous supporters by over-promising what little comment he actually maked about Ayers.
Obama has certainly worked up a plausable evasive maneuver. McCain's challenge is to throw him off guard and catch him with a new angle. The more angry & defensive Obama is the better McCain's chances are.

He asked how many of my fellow honkies were going to vote Democrat in spite of it all, and I had to admit that I knew some who were going to sit this one out.
He said that was the real worry he had. Just how strong was the Demo vote going to be. We agreed that Obama would do really well with the liberal Ds, and of course had the Yellow Dogs sewn up, but conservative Democrats might stay away or go McCain.

I usually don't engage in "McCain better say this" or "McCain should say that" but, I think McCain should nail BHO with the taxation issue, especially the small-business angle. And, he should nail BHO with the "spreading the wealth" quote.

Maybe what they fail to comprehend about the Ayers issue is what is so wrong with hating America? Ultimately, they share his values, as does Obama.
I'm talking about people who DON'T hate America who are planning to vote for BHO out of sheer ignorance of what BHO stand for.

Look at the party ID samples in every poll that “worries” you and see what the party ID breakdown is: the national breakdown should be 39% Dem, 35% Republican, and 26% Independent. The polls that “worry” Eeyores have Democrats at 45% or above in terms of party ID breakdown — with Republicans as low as 20%. In the last 20 years, Democrats have only had a 4% party ID advantage over Republicans. Why on Earth would that historic fact change in 2008 — and swing to a 25% or more Democrat advantage? That’s ridiculous. And everything Eeyores run around with, crazed over, is equally ridiculous if they’d just take the time to critically think through it.

letter I wrote to the elections board.
To the election board, Swain County, NC.
I would like to thank you for the additional new registered Democrat voters here in Swain County, Cherokee NC.
36 million new registered Democrat voters in Western North Carolina is great for the party and anyone we decide to put into office. But,
As I had planed to vote for McCain/Palin this year I figure my chances are very slim.
That is not my problem!
The reason I am writing is that I have noticed most of the Wooden Indians here in Cherokee, N. C. have Obama stickers and many have cast ballots for Obama.
This Wooden Indian- Chief Splinter-in-the-Ass
outside the HANNAH Casino and Dining Hall did cast his ballot for Obama.
Upon further inspection my wife noticed that he is not a true red blooded Native American Indian. (see inserted picture) [Link: farm1.static.flickr.com...]
She discovered upon further inspection that he is a Chinese imitation plastic Wooden Indian.
I feel that allowing foreign persons to register and vote in NC should be investigated.
As always thanking you,
keyboard.
P.S.
in case the inevitable happens.
LONG LIVE THE DEMOCRAT PARTY,
AND SEIGE HEIL

Warren Stephens on Obiden tax plan
Senator Obama’s plan is a redistribution of income from those who pay taxes to those who do not. It is nothing more than the granddaddy of all welfare plans and voters need to know it. For Senators Obama and Biden to couch this issue as one of fairness and a “patriotic duty” is an attempt to deceive the American public as to the facts.
Stephens points are well-taken, but I’m gonna go out on a limb and suggest that maybe a billionaire investment banker isn’t the ideal proponent for that message right now, even if he is one of our state’s leading corporate citizens.
What he said.

Just linkey-ed it.
The original report from African Press International, where they get a call from Michelle Obama.
She calls bloggers questioning her husband's credentials racist and evil, and when API asked her about the detention of Jerome Corsi in Kenya (Oh yes, API went there--unlike our own press), her response was as follows, according to API:
"she got irritated and and simply told API not to dig that which will support evil people who are out to stop her husband from getting the presidency.
When asked who she was referring to as the evil people, she stated that she was not going to elaborate much on that but that many conservative white people and even some African Americans were against her husband, but that this group of blacks were simply doing so because of envy."
And the money shot?
"Mrs Obama asked API to write a good story about her husband and that will earn API an invitation to the innoguration ceremony when, as she put it , her husband will be installed as the next President of the United States of America next year."
Go go free press in Africa!

While your scenario is plausible, there is no proof. It is also plausible that it was a McCain supporter, and it also plausible that he didn't mean what he said literally, but more of a 'go get him'. However, I haven't yet seen an audio of anyone yelling 'Kill him' in the first place. I saw one where I guy yelled 'Terrorist', and it was reported that he was yelling 'Kill him'.
Obama supporters chant 'Racists' at McCain rallies, which is the exact same kind of slur that 'Terrorist' would be.

I think if you research that you'll find that the 'kill him' remark referred to a mention of Bill Ayers.
Ironically, Ayers really can't say much about it, since it dovetails so well his his own past actions.

Question for all lizards: Does anyone here actually believe that the person who yelled "kill him" at the Palin rally was a conservative McCain supporter?
Obamatons are well known to deface, destroy and disrupt all McCain signage and events. Anything to make us out to be racists pigs will benefit BHO. I can't take many more of these columns on racism. Andrew Greeley's piece in this mornings Chicago Sun-Times is particularly irritating.
It's an old trick going back to Mussolini (when running for Prime Minister of Italy in 1921), and of course He Who Must Not Be Named For Fear Of Invoking Godwin's Law (HWMNBNFFOIGL). Adolf accused everyone from Bruening to the Communists from plotting to kill him during the 1933 German elections. In fact, after he became Chancellor, there were at least 53 known plots to depose or "TweeP" him- mostly from within the NSDAP itself. And sending rabble-rousers into opposition rallies to pull just this sort of gag was SOP with the SA.
Mussolini, BTW, was deposed by the Italian Fascists after it became obvious even to his own General Staff that he was going to destroy Italy through his own arrogance, megalomania, and sheer thundering incompetence and stupidity. I just finished reading a book on Benny the Moose and Italy during World War Two, and I was struck by the resemblance between him, Obama, and Charles the Bold of Burgundy (aka Charles the Rash in his own time).
cheers

Found this:
The news media have covered the relationship in the past, but there have been no mentions since 2005, according to Nexis and despite the collapse of Fannie Mae. The July 3, 1998, Reliable Source column in The Washington Post reported Frank, who is openly gay, had a relationship with Herb Moses, an executive for the now-government controlled Fannie Mae. The column revealed the two had split up at the time but also said Frank was referring to Moses as his “spouse.” Another Washington Post report said Frank called Moses his “lover” and that the two were “still friends” after the breakup.

Every day it becomes more and more apparent what a corrupt man Barack Obama is, a smooth-talking narcissistic shyster who is financially and morally bankrupt.
Every day it becomes more and more apparent that the Democrats are so desperate for a win that they will attack, harass and intimidate supporters of their opponent and organize MASSIVE VOTER FRAUD in order to secure one.
Every day it becomes more and more apparent that Barack Obama lacks the experience, judgement, and moral fiber that is essential for a Presidential candidate.
Every day, more fraud and more lies come to light. More questionable associations, more corrupt business dealings.
The wool is being pulled over the collective eyes of the American Public, who are more interested in watching reruns of "Dancing with the Stars" than they are in taking a hard look at the man behind the tailored suit and glittery, empty rhetoric.
The thing that we have fought against for years is now right on our doorstep... socialism... and the structure of this great Nation will FOREVER BE CHANGED because people are too apathetic and too stupid to recognize that they are being manipulated.
From the Wiki:
Socialists mainly share the belief that capitalism unfairly concentrates power and wealth among a small segment of society that controls capital, and creates an unequal society. All socialists advocate the creation of an egalitarian society, in which wealth and power are distributed more evenly
Quote from Barack Obama, just a few days ago:
"It's not that I want to punish your success. I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they've got a chance for success too. My attitude is that if the economy's good for folks from the bottom up, it's gonna be good for everybody ... I think when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody."
Obama: Sure, I'll meet with Castro, Chavez, Ahmadinejad, etc
I despair, lizards.
How in HELL can people be stupid enough - or negligent enough- to vote for this man?

Barack Obama to appoint her to the U.S. Supreme Court if he wins the White House...“Having her on the Supreme Court would help us a lot. She could make sure we cement Roe v. Wade,” said Judi Woods, a Little Rock supporter who campaigned for Mrs. Clinton across the country during the prolonged primary

Our lives depend on this election. There's no room for despair. In 1941, in Listen To The People, Stephen Vincent Benet wrote:
Totalitarian Voice:
My secret weapon is no secret weapon.
It is to turn all men against all men
For my own purposes. It is to use
Good men to do my work without their knowledge,
Not only the secret traitor and the spy.
It is to raise a question and a doubt
Where there is faith. It is to subjugate
Men’s minds before their bodies feel the steel.
It is to use
All envy, all despair, all prejudice
For my own work.
If you’ve an envy or a prejudice
A nicely grown, well-rounded piece of hate,
I’ll play on it and use it to your ruin.
My generals are General Distrust,
General Fear, General Half-A-Heart,
General It’s-Too-Late,
General Greed and Major-General Hate,
And they go walking in civilian clothes
In your own streets and whisper in your ears.

I don't often start my day out with a rant, but I am sorely frustrated by the American peoples' rush toward collective suicide.
For the love of God, if we are not able to turn this thing around the United States of America is going to become a socialist country.
America as we know it, will be gone.
In it's place will be something that we don't even recognize any more. Freedom of speech? Gone. Freedom to practice your religion of choice? Gone. American history? Rewritten.
America the Beautiful... this is the legacy that we are leaving for our children? This is how we honor those who have laid down their very lives down through generations, for what this country stands for?
We are a nation of walking dead people, being forced over the cliff because we've allowed ourselves to become anesthetized by our own apathy.
May God forgive us.

IIRC The Manifesto's ideal condition for the transition to socialism is through capitalism, not rising out of some wartorn wilderness bombed to crap (e.g. Russia, E. Europe, North Korea). In his case, he intended it for Industrialized Germany on the eve of the 1848(?) revolts. Neither did Marx state (in the Manifesto anyway) exactly how long the intended "Revolution" was supposed to take.
In other words, this might as well be what Marx was talking about.

Gay Patriot has this.
While Frank served on the House Banking Committee in the 1990s, his partner, Herb Moses, worked at Fannie Mae as assistant director of product initiatives from 1991 to 1998. The two lived together at that time, breaking up in 1998, “a few months after Moses ended his seven-year tenure at Fannie Mae.“
While Frank and Moses had “assured the Wall Street Journal in 1992 that they took pains to avoid any conflicts of interest,” others disagree.

Friday, December 18, 1998; Page D01So we have a time line, from Franks own lips, 1988 to 1998. Now I need to know when Moses was at Fannie and when Franks was overseeing Fannie.
Media Mum on Barney Frank's Fannie Mae Love Connection "Fannie Frank" served on the House Banking Committee the entire 10 years that he and Herb Moses were together.

Good morning all...
So, here is my thinking this morning... Looking at all the polls and papers saying tonight is basically 'do or die' for John McCain (and basically the America we know and love), I thought about this...
Some people here keep saying that out of four or eight years of Barack Hussein Obama, will come our new Reagan, as he rose up out of the depths of the Carter era... However, what if, out of the depths of the Bush era, there arises Barack Hussein Obama, to undo everything that Reagan set forth on this country...
I heard Grover Norquist on with Bill Bennett this morning and his discussion regarding points of Barack Hussein Obama's plans are chilling... The term he kept brining up is that we must do what we can to prevent Obama's plan's that will have 'permanent damage' to America...

The Manifesto's ideal condition for the transition to socialism is through capitalism
How's this for irony? The better capitalism works, the easier it is to transition to socialism. When times are flush, money is plentiful, and everyone's doing pretty well you don't feel bad about 'helping out' the less fortunate. Shoot, it gives you a warm fuzzy, and you can afford it.
Do it slowly enough, it's hardly noticable.
It's like splitting a log. You put the thin edge of the wedge into the crack, then hammer it home.

"spread the wealth around"
translation: "You're money or your life."I saw him say that. I couldn't believe it. He might as well hold a gun to the plumbers head.
My response would be,
Well, I don't have money in the sense you mean, so I suppose you'll have to take my life.
Hope you can get a good price for it, Baby.
One of the fundamental flaws in socialism is the steadfast belief held by socialists that (as Ann Coulter once put it) there's a big room full of free money hidden somewhere, and the only reason it isn't in their hands is that evil conservatives won't tell them where it is and give them the keys. I have found that quoting the TANSTAAFL Rule ( There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch) to "progressives" is futile; they simply reject it as immaterial. They want all lunches (or at least theirs) to be free, so therefore they must be.
Rather like Obama's insistence on "free health care"- I would ask him;
So, that means that if you "give" me "free health care", all the doctors, RNs, PNs, specialists, drug suppliers, and everyone else who will be supplying my needs will be contributing their efforts, resources, and etc. gratis? If not, who pays them?
As with the old axiom about battle plans never surviving first contact with the enemy (Sherman, 1862), progressive "policies" rarely survive first contact with reality.
The question is, will America survive contact with those policies?
cheers
eon

Though I might add that it's not charity in itself that's socialist. It's more like when society demands you be charitable lest you be ostracized (like the "aid percentages" plea.)
I would like to introduce an interesting point though - although Marx's ideal communist society would have "all working for the community," the Manifesto also entailed that each would only be given what they are able to work on. Thus the "greedy bourgeoisie" would definitely get thrown out on their bums. Still all for the "common" though, not for the individual.

If anyone else here has some confused Christian family or friends who are voting for O, show them this site... Democrats for Lfe. They've written up a bill called the Protection of Women Act which, while I may not agree with some parts, greatly strengthens the social net for pregnant women and new mothers and changes some insurance codes to help also. Barack Obama does not support this group or their legislation. This puts the lie to their main argument that "by helping women and their babies with his wonderful policies, Obamessiah will lower the abortion rate" crap.

U.S. stock futures sharply lower after data wave
NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- U.S. stock futures pointed to another sharp opening fall on Wednesday after economic data proved generally dismal, erasing optimism on better-than-forecast results from the Coca-Cola Co., Intel Corp. and J.P. Morgan Chase.
"Retail sales were worse than expected, core PPI was hotter than forecast, and the Empire State Index outcome was fairly ugly," said analysts at Action Economics.
Don't be surprised if we drop back to a DOW of about 8500 for a while.

I think many will go John Galt without much choice in the matter. Obama will tax the productive which in turn will kill off incentive, which will kill off jobs, which will kill off everything. All in the name of "fairness."
Perhaps the partisan politics we are dealing with now is really just a struggle between those of us who believe in productivity, personal responsibility, and keeping government interference to a minimum, and those who believe in the socialistic policies of taking from others, using the government as a watchdog, and rewarding those who overspend, underwork, or are just plain unproductive.

The Mask Drops at Evian Conferences
For people who claim to be so cultured, the French foreign policy people hosting the conference have a poor sense of history. For it was exactly 70 years ago there was another Evian Conference, we better do better this time around.
In 1938, Hitler invited the world to take the Jews of Europe or he would be decide their fate. At Evian, the world punted. You know the rest: of Europe's Jews alive in 1938, 75% were dead when the dust settled seven years later. The remnant became the State of Israel.
So the comments by Jesse Jackson Obama's true intentions are alarming. Jackson's ignorance of the historic significance of his remarks to previous events at Evian are less the problem than the implications of what happens if he was telling the truth. He also garnished them with enough dripping antisemitism that we must assume he was speaking the truth.
Jackson's comments were clear: under an Obama administration, the Jews of Israel are to be thrown to the wolves by Obama, just as we were 70 years ago. This is betrayal writ large. We cannot be the least surprised as to these being Obama's intentions, rather one can only be shocked that Jackson had the gall (honesty?) to utter the truth when Obama was so close to the Prize. All the evidence of Obama's planned treachery has been before our eyes, his desire to "engage Iran" his coterie of anti-Israel foreign policy advisers, his flip-flop on Jerusalem, Wright's antisemitism, his relationship with Muslim extremists Farakhan and Odinga and, most of all, his relationship with Said, Khalidi and Ayers. Over the years, we have watched the antisemitic bile pour form the DU and KOS, far left antisemitism is an established fact; and they hate Israel. Jesse Jackson did us a favor and told us that Obama has the virus that so many of his Leftist brothers and sisters have. Let's hope Jesse is Obama's October Surprise.
Jews of America, we have been warned. In 1938, we had neither the power nor the resources to resist the enemy; we got lucky, the mask dropped before the election. We can believe Jackson or Obama's denials. Since Jesse is not running for anything, you know who to believe. And let's not forget: Leftist always lie. They wipe their bottoms with the truth because they believe the "power" of their higher political truth absolves them from honesty. Witness Acorn in action.
In 1939, the Left pirouetted in perfect timing and harmony with Hitler to bring world war and the deaths of millions; they only got angry at Hitler when they got knifed themselves. Obama, like the Diplomats of Evian, only intends to remove the Jew's defenses, he either cynically knows today's Hitler, Iran, will do the dirty work or he does not care- in situations like this indifference is fatal to those not preserved- he will wash his hands of Jewish blood just as Clinton "could have done more" about Rwanda.
Anyone who cares about the Jewish people and Israel, anyone who cares about the promise "never again" must rally around John McCain with everything they have. The lives of six million of our co-religionists are at stake and probably the continued existence of the Jewish people as well. We cannot bear another Shoah. McCain is the only door that is open and safe. Obama must be presumed to be a mortal threat to Israel.
We have time. Spread these words to everyone you know: Obama intends to betray Israel. He has played us falsely and those who know Obama best are unafraid to say so. Every Jewish vote for McCain is precious. It can make the difference. Think how you will feel if Obama is elected and Jackson is right. In 1945, the Jewish word sat in mourning with ashes in our mouth, shocked and devastated by the Shoah, sick that we had done so little and wondering why we had not done more. We cannot be true to the memory of the six million if we stand by and do nothing in the face of the reality of Evian. The ghosts from the last Evian Conference are screaming: vote McCain.

Hey real, you shot a 74 yesterday.
Since it's near the end of the season and I don't have to protect the shoulder much longer this year, I went back to the full swing for you.
You were crushing it off the tee 260 to 300 yards per tee shot depending on the wind. You put a 230 yard 5 wood shot on the green on a long par 5 uphill and canned the birdie putt. Good show. The course was beautiful with the leaves turning orange and yellow. Over all a great day.

When it mattered, Obama copped out (again)
Barack Obama has claimed that he foresaw the subprime mortgage collapse and took steps to warn the Treasury — by writing a letter. That claim has come in two presidential debates. Peter Wallison reminds Wall Street Journal readers of the obvious in pointing out that Obama serves as a Senator and had the power to draft legislation, not letters, to prevent the collapse. Instead, Obama voted present

what western state did Gault have his town? Was it CO, WY somewhere in that area. Would it be the same state that talks of leaving the US if gunrights are removed?
Galt's Gulch was in northwestern Colorado, in an area with an average ASL ground level of 8,000 feet. This would put it in the Rocky Mountains north of Steamboat Springs, near the Wyoming state line. This is also consistent with Dagny Taggart's flightpath as she pursued Galt's plane before she crashed her own ship.

I think many will go John Galt without much choice in the matter. Obama will tax the productive which in turn will kill off incentive, which will kill off jobs, which will kill off everything. All in the name of "fairness."
Obama talks about taking from those who are productive and redistributing to those who are not — or who are not as successful. If success and productivity is to be punished, why bother? Perhaps it is time for those of us who make the money and pay the taxes to take it easy, live on less, and let the looters of the world find their own way.

If McCain or his advisers were smart (and there are times when I wonder about it), they'd hammer away at Obama on his admission that his tax and spend economic policy is nothing more than redistribution of wealth - taking from those who are in a position to grow the economy - small businesses - to help those who pay no taxes at all. You can tax the rich all you want, but it wouldn't cover all the pet programs that Obama wants, all the refundable tax credits, and payoffs he intends.
Obama seeks nothing less than a massive redistribution of wealth, and if you're in the middle class - particularly the middle and upper middle class, you're going to get hosed royally.

re: #671 ayatollah ghilmeini Good morning my friend, just another in a looong series of excellent comments!
But
Jackson's ignorance of the historic significance of his remarks to previous events at Evian are less the problem than the implications of what happens if he was telling the truth. He also garnished them with enough dripping antisemitism that we must assume he was speaking the truth.
Is, I'm afraid not an ignorant statement. Jesse "Hymietown" Jackson meant every word and a bunch of others even he couldn't say out loud. I wish American Jews would wake the hell up before its too late, but I fear that American Jews vote overwhelmingly Democratic, just as a sort of reflexive action; no thinking required. That or they are operating under the delusion that 1) Israel will be ok without US backing in the World or 2) Israel, even worse, will get what ever it deserves.
I know #2 is somewhat harsh, but I honestly believe that American Jewry has somehow managed to distance itself from Israel, while maintaining the fiction that they are, in fact, Jews.
I posted this yesterday and it's even more apt given your comment: I am a STRONG supporter of Israel and a Zionist and proud of it.
Now if we could only get American Jewish voters to feel the same way..................

If Obama Wins…We will all support to the best of our abilities the President of the US; he will need it in these challenging times when so many abroad will try to take advantage of America’s ongoing perceived weakness. But nevertheless, there will be irony aplenty, and not all of it necessarily bad.
Consider. The Europeans really will have their multilateralist: no, problem, Eastern Europe, we will get the UN on Putin right away. Don’t worry France, we are right behind you in Kandahar. Angie, no problem, Iranian nukes can’t quite reach Frankfurt. OK, UK, ready or not, here come more of your Guantanamo detainees. Don’t worry, Israel, trust me—Hamas really is sober and judicious. How strange to see a Euro-summit in which the US president is to the left of the Europeans, who are fleeing the positions we are now assuming.
As one scared Frenchman told me this summer, “Hey, what’s up? There’s only room for one Obama in the West, and we already claimed that role!”

Half of what I learned did not come from books or graduate school or teaching or writing, but from some rather rough characters who taught me how to prune, hammer, wire, and fix things—as well as their world view that came along with those tasks. Thank God, we have that experience represented in Sarah Palin. Can’t her critics grasp that? It ain’t easy to step up to the city-council, mayorship, or governor’s office while raising kids, on a short budget, without family money or connections, and out in Alaska? Did not the career of Truman teach us anything? We have plenty of highly educated politicos, so there is no worry we are a nation of populist yokels; what is lacking in public life are just a few people who aren’t lawyers, professors, consultants, and bureaucrats.

Good morning, RW. Great news…the Rhuematologist that refused to see me has stepped up to the plate. My Internist knows him well and offices one floor above the Rhuemy. The Internist took my lab results and x-rays to him personally and told he was making a mistake by not seeing me. Mortgage rates have climbed in the last few days and here is my take on why. So many people have cashed out of investments and are sitting on cash, that banks are having to offer very high rates to attract deposits back.
The panic is over, investors are willing to accept some risk, but until things settle down they are sitting in cash.

There were only a few Jews who "made it" in the Mafia, the most well known of whom was Meyer Lansky (whom I had the dubious pleasure of meeting once - in a situation which turned out comedic but could easily have gone the other way).
And, according to Lansky himself (who, btw, INVENTED Las Vegas as the gambling mecca it now is) the secret to his remaining above ground was that he always made money for his partners. He was also a boyhood chum of Lucky Luciano, and when Lucky became the boss of bosses, he gave Meyer Lansky the job of investing mafia money into legitimate, legal enterprises.

To [deleted]deleted] [then deleted]!
I think that about covers it!

Someone get a rope!
Heh. You should have seen the looks on my co-worker's faces at the last cocktail party when I "came out." Our President politely asked me if I was mentally disabled. Looking forward to tonight's party!

And a hearty "congratulations" to all the Canadian lizards.
Here's hoping the American voters follow your example.

Oil is down to $75 a barrel and predictions are a daily surplus of oil of 2.250 million barrels a day later this year. There are some predictions of another 70 cent per gallon drop at the retail pump. That would be the equivalent of a large increase in discretionary income.
OPEC, Chavez, Dinnerjacket and Putin are really going to be hurting.
That is excellent for many reasons, but the cloud in that silver lining is it takes the urgency off "drill now" projects and lowers the profit of any shale-oil type projects, no?
