Internet Wrong

Politics | Wed, Oct 15, 2008 at 10:48:54 am PDT

You’ve probably seen a story floating around that Michelle Obama telephoned an African media organization and made some outrageous statements. It smelled like seafood to us, and sure enough, Byron York has the official word at The Corner.

I’m sure a lot of you have seen references this morning to statements allegedly made by Michelle Obama in an interview with an organization called African Press International.  I just asked the Obama campaign whether Michelle Obama did in fact speak to that organization, and spokesman Tommy Vietor answered:

The answer is no, it’s not real, the report is made up.  She did not speak to the organization.

Ever get any spam from Kenya?

Thanks for posting, this is just another carefully crafted distraction. If the focus stays on race then it's off of Obama's record. It needs to stay on his record.

It smacked of African Muslim disinformation.

This should be news. Governor Palin tries to get a wife beating, step-son attacking state trooper fired, and it is in my paper daily. Obama goes to Kenya and pals around with a mass murderer, and it's crickets chirping.

As many have said, this is the election that finally did it for MSM. They used to be a least a little subtle in promoting Democrats, but this time they don't even try to hide it.

This should be news. Governor Palin tries to get a wife beating, step-son attacking state trooper fired, and it is in my paper daily. Obama goes to Kenya and pals around with a mass murderer, and it's crickets chirping.

As many have said, this is the election that finally did it for MSM. They used to be a least a little subtle in promoting Democrats, but this time they don't even try to hide it.

isn't odinga an obama cousin?

Secret Service visits Lufkin woman after 'death threat' allegation from an Obama campaign volunteer

Lufkin woman received a surprise visit from the Secret Service last week because of a "death threat" comment she reportedly made about Sen. Barack Obama to a campaign volunteer asking for her support of the presidential candidate.
"She asked if I was an Obama supporter, to which I replied, 'No, I don't support him. Your guy is a socialist who voted four times in the state Senate to let little babies die in hospital closets; I think you should find something better to do with your time.' (And then) I hung up."

Zbig's a big reason I don't trust Obama on Israel - it just reinforces what Jackson said to Taheri and reported yesterday. Obama's going to cast Israel to the wolves in a futile attempt to placate Islamists who seek Israel's destruction but who also want to see the US laid low.

That and Zbig is a big part of why Iran is the menace it is today - because of his feckless policy that Carter pushed.

A new curse for the bubble lipped Shaughnessy to write books about!

Sign of the times: Sox landmark scorched

The Red Sox [team stats] haven’t been on fire lately, but over the lunch hour today Fenway Park [map]’s most recognized landmark almost went up in flames.

Frantic drivers and passersby desperately called 911 just before noon to report that flames and smoke were coming out of the nationally known Citgo sign that towers over Fenway Park, said Boston Fire spokesman Steve MacDonald.

The fire is out now, but the feeling of doom might be hard to shake.

Zbig is just one of many: As Carl In Jerusalem states:

The advisers and friends that surround Barack Hussein Obama are not friends of Israel. They include people like the late Edward Said, Rashid Khalidi, Ali Abunimah, Jeremiah Wright, Robert Malley, Susan Power, Zbigniew Brzezinski and Tony McPeak. It's hard to believe that he will ignore all of those friends and advisers and pursue a policy that is pro-Israel (unless, of course, your name is Bob Wexler). And if that trail is not enough for you, please consider what we do know of what Obama would do to Israel.

1. Within days after calling for an undivided Jerusalem to be the capital of Israel (while pandering to an AIPAC convention), he backtracked.

2. In an interview with the Jerusalem Post's David Horovitz, Obama, who has spent less than three days in this country in total, has already decided that Israel must retreat to the Auschwitz lines of 1949.

I would not expect the 0bama campaign to back up his shrew of a wife on this. However, if it is not real, why would they report it? They have every reason in the world not to. To me the only content of interest was that she said 0bama had been adopted by his step-father.

Jerome Corsi, author of a book about Barack Obama entitled The Obama Nation; Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality, was sent packing last week having apparently contravened visa restrictions on launching his book and speaking to the press about it.

As somebody who has been around Boston for a number of years, I would be glad to see that go onto the scrapheap of history. In case it has escaped people's attention, Citgo is the national oil company of Venezuela and Comrade Hugo. It wastes valuable electricity and is a eyesore. It ranks up there with the Cain's sign that blew down some number of years ago for a waste of space and carbon credits.

This does bring back memories -- some years ago, a U.S. news weekly magazine ran an anti-Israel article by Bzezinski. In the next issue there were four letters-to-the-editor praising him. I had never before written anything about politics, but that time I knocked out a piece on the Brzezinski piece that nowadays would be called "fisking". Sent it to the editor along with a note that to my personal knowledge, all four of the letters of praise came from men who were his personal friends and associates, and maybe he would like to present another point of view.

The same day that my piece was published, I ran into one of the men who wrote the letters and he said to me "I never did like Brez".

I hope he looks Obama right in the eye and calmly and coolly gives him the dressing down he has been begging for since he got into this race....nobody has directly confronted this man over his obvious shortcomings....out of fear of being called a racist? This is it...the last time he will have Obama standing there in front of him, it's now or never

I'll second that and up ding ya. Have you noticed that McCain almost never looks at Obama during the debates? He needs to look O straight in the eye and take him to the woodshed over all the lies.

Uh, sorry for the re-post from the prior thread folks, but in response to a question of mine regarding Obama writing a blurb for a book jacket of a book written by Billy Ayers, Kenneth responded thusly:

Yes, A Kind and Just Parent by Ayers, about juvinile criminal justice system. Obama reviewed it. Obama & Ayres worked together on a reform to Illinois laws on juvenile justice system.

And yet, VERY RECENTLY, Obama claimed that he hardly knew Billy Ayers. Gee, I wonder how that can be?!

From the "You Gotta Love It" file:

Fla. Congressman said to be involved in 2nd affair

From the article:
"A married congressman who faces accusations that he had an affair with a former aide and paid her to keep quiet about it also was having an affair with a second woman around the same time, a person close to his campaign told The Associated Press on Tuesday."

And the punchline?
"No marriage is perfect," Mahoney said, "but our private life is our private life."

Hmm...wonder if the first woman found out about the second woman. Could explain the payoff. :-)

217 Palandine  Wed, Oct 15, 2008 11:36:26am

There's no need to focus on this story.

In the Audacity of Hope, Obama approvingly quotes the racist Reverend Wright saying:

“It is this world, a world where cruise ships throw away more food in a day than most residents of Port-au-Prince see in a year, where white folks’ greed runs a world in need, apartheid in one hemisphere, apathy in another hemisphere…That’s the world! On which hope sits!”

If one is looking for racial supremacism among the Obamas, one doesn't have to look further than where they worshipped for two decades.

Iran hails world financial crisis as 'end of capitalism'

Iranian leaders say the world financial crisis indicates the end of capitalism, the failure of liberal democracy and divine punishment -- marking the superiority of the Islamic republic's political model.

"The school of Marxism has collapsed and the sound of the West's cracking liberal democracy is now being heard," supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Monday, recalling the fate of the Soviet Union.

Hardline President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who is backed by Khamenei, said on Tuesday that "it is the end of capitalism."

There's a group I linked to this am called Democrats for Life America. They've written a bill called Protection of Women's Act (?) that, while I don't agree with a lot of it, calls for much more in the way of medical, insurance, and others items for pregnant women and new moms. Obama does not support them or their Act. This should put the lie to the statement that Obama will reduce abortions just by making things so awesome that everyone will want to have their kids born. Obama is to the Left of NARAL on abortion rights.

OT. Anyone who has read some Louis Lamour books or other 'older' books about mountain men and such may recall the expression 'long in the tooth' to describe someone who was old. I never knew where the expression came from till a visit to a dentist a year or so ago and the dentist mentioned that as we age, the gums recede from the teeth, making them seem longer (and if we don't floss everyday, it happens faster).

I am still skeptical about this story, but Corsi (who has issues of his own) is now claiming that there is audio, and API is giving out its phone number to inquirers and is claiming that the story is true. I hate conspiracy theories (I loved the Eject!Eject!Eject! article about them from some time back), but the legal theories behind Berg's suit and the idea that, if adopted, he lost is citizenship, are accurate. The only problem is that for all we know Soetoro just paid off some local official without actually adopting Obama so Obama could go to school in Indonesia.

AND we'd have to have independent verification regarding the state of the law in Indonesia regarding whether or not non-citizens could attend public school in Indonesia at that time. Until we can get independent verification on these things, I will not accept this story.

I'm tempted to just ignore the story. Obama already has a bunch of negative stuff to focus on like redistribution of wealth and extremely radical associates. I fear that if every little thing is scrutinized, the focus will be lost, as will the game. To put it in another perspective, schooling fish use the school and the almost immeasurable prey choice to confuse the predator who will lose out if it swims in with no clear target...constantly switching directions and gears. If however the predator focuses on 1 fish and ignores the rest, it is supper time.

That may not be the best analogy, but too many distractions can murky the waters as the voters try to learn who the real Obama is.

I sure hope McCain is focused and on target with statements about Acorn, Fannie, and joe the plumber.

As a lawyer, let me ask you this.

How the heck can Acorn keep what ever business organization status it has after all the fraud it has done? I would love to see somebody propose a bill or do something to get the vote registration drives away from any and all organizations. If people want to vote they can go the office.

True, and it's used a lot down south. But, given the lurkers and their love of "gotcha" moments, it's wise to try and use less "charged" words. Remember the poor SOB who used the word "niggardly" in its proper and generally accepted context (i.e.; stingy, parsimonious, miserly) only to be excoriated by several African American activist groups for using a word that merely sounded racially-charged. (BTW, the above word is of Dutch/Scandinavian origin; the pejorative homophone is of Spanish derivation, and a bastardization at that.)

Unless the person is actively inciting something, a polite request to refrain from such usage might be enough.

P.S.; In writing this, I realized that I might very well be exacerbating the very situation I was trying to ameliorate. Pardons for any ruffled feathers--that was not my intent.

This should have been a matter of Federal investigation years ago, as ACORN's fraudulent activities have been known for quite some time. I am inclined to agree with the idea that this is just the tip of the iceberg. Now we have credit card theft and fraud.

There are already laws on the books. Nobody is enforcing them.

I got into a discussion with a friend, who I would describes as being afflicted with the same form of political apostasy that gripped Chris Buckley. He was chuckling at what he perceived to by the GOP's hypocrisy over the ACORN issue, given all the sleazy campaigning done by Karl Rove over the years. I held my temper and replied as forcefully as I could that what the GOP had allegedly done was only dirty politics (rat-fucking, in the terms of Donald Segretti); what ACORN is doing is flat-out election fraud. The former is unethical--the latter is illegal, and that's the difference.

re: #189 Ward Cleaver

If he was, then he did. There was no dual citizenship with the US and Indonesia at the time. The child's citizenship follows the father's under Indonesian law. If he was adopted, he became an Indonesian and had his American citizenship renounced for him through the actions of his mother and step-father. The trip to Pakistan could have only been reasonably made on an Indonesian passport. To get there under a US passport you had to have an official invite from the US embassy and be on official business. It is remotely possible he did it on a US passport but highly unlikely.

I really wish the court would get off its ass on Berg. America deserves the answers. I would expect an appeal no matter which way it goes.

I would believe anything BO's campaign says because they are completely truthful and would never lie.

The AfricanPress story is quite interesting. It appears that they are critical of Odinga and by extension of Obama who has supported Odinga with time and money. This resulted in several negative stories about Obama, including the reports of the lawsuit by Berg. One of the more recent stories reported on the murder of one of Obama's relatives and suspicion by the family that it was connected with Obama's campaign.

Being genuine Africans and not having to pretend to cultish solidarity of the Afrocentric movement, they feel free to call it as they see it, which obviously upset Michelle who tried both intimidation and bribe (an invitation to the inaugural) in her phone call to get them to back off I would presume both Odinga and Obama.

Understanding the phone call requires reading the 70 page legal document Berg produced regarding the birth certificate as well as following some of the websites carrying the story. A second lawsuit has now been filed in the state of Washington requesting the documents confirming Obama's citizenship.

The African Press says it will be presenting the entire story of how and why they were contacted by Michelle Obama as well as an audio of the call. Based on the information it was not a formal interview but rather a harangue and response.
