re: #236 Killgore Trout

I think this was by far McCain's best performance yet. I fear Obama won anyways.
/Too little too late

GO post on DKOS, moron.

Can anyone provide a link detailing how the Ayers/Obama money has been tied to radical teaching and no results?

293 luxiegenie  Wed, Oct 15, 2008 7:23:16pm

Watching Obama tonight is like watching the Sox in Game 6 of the 1986 world series. It was all over. Time for the champagne. But that last, "loose end" out got in the way of the cork poppin'.

Why is our math so bad? Easy, have any of you seen a modern math book? It teaches almost everything BUT math. Most of the books are either filled with PC garbage (no math) or are so junked up with flashy photos and confusing exercises that a student can't focus. Look at foreign math books: in Japan, it is a law--no more than 4 colors in a math book and no pictures unless they are there to illustrate an exercise. Now, look at their scores!

How true. My third-grader still has not learned any subtraction or addition by memory. It's all kooky diagrams and drawings and attempts at finding the answer. Thankfully her mother is a private university valedictorian so her at-home supplemental education is top-notch. But the method they use now in school is bizarre.

Come on John, this is a hanging fastball. Nail him on 150 million in wasted money for no results in the Anenburg Challenge. This could be a walk off grand slam...

School Vouchers! Remember your "civil rights issue of our time" John.. SLAM him!

Coming from a family of decent and honest educators, my mother has no regrets that neither I nor my sister entered the profession. She's disgusted by the NEA/WEA even though retired well before the radicals sullied everything

Yes, but also look at their culture. High value on succeeding. We reward mediocrity.

Yes. It's also Hell take the hindmost. Those that fail are doomed forever.

Sen. Che-bama sends his children to the best private school in Chicago (or probably anywhere) The University of Chicago Lab School.

Don't you dare tell me how to raise my kids, you che-hole!

John's losing some steam. He won the first half, but ...

The Undead One is correct. No one cares about politicians talking about education. Debate's over for most people.

Barack is stumbling around some on vouchers, but McCain's weak centrist philosophy lacks foundation.

Aren't the Teachers Unions supporting Obama?

He would change position on the firing of teachers or alternatives the second they bitched.

In college, I got stuck with a teacher who picked the trig book because (I kid you not) it had balloons on the cover, and he liked balloons. Unfortunately, he knew even less avout traching trig than he did about anything else. The book was full of 'cute" story problems that would have been ideal for first-graders, but this was in second-year college. I flunked the course, but so did everyone else- in every class he taught.

/I can do trig problems, I just don't do them his way.

Unfortunately a memorized final speach seems to be McCains weak point, and likely BHO's strength

313 The Archivist  Wed, Oct 15, 2008 7:29:53pm

How ironic: the Watergate plumbers brought down Nixon, and Joe the Plumber may very well have brought down BOH.

That's right, he did, didn't he...

Obama keeps using the word "invest." I do not think it means what he thinks it means. For him invest=bigger government.

317 Sheepdogess  Wed, Oct 15, 2008 7:35:11pm

Billions of words uttered and written.

Mastarabatory verbiage.

Converts?

re: #174 MandyManners

I remember when I needed a poster for school when I was a kid. We had these ALPHABET stencils. You taped them to the poster and filled them in.

Is that's what's been done to BHO's hair? The silvering is just too perfect to be real.

It appears to be mildew...

319 sdhawgman  Thu, Oct 16, 2008 6:08:32am

Obama was correctly addressed as "SENATOR GOVERNMENT" last night! Let's see if he can smirk that off in the final weeks...

320 grahamski  Thu, Oct 16, 2008 8:16:50am

obama was having fits of nervous laughter which is a telltale sign that he was uncomfortable, and he can't handle being on the defensive.... he knows he was being exposed as the fraud that he is.
