Another Celebrity Endorsement for Barack Obama

World | Thu, Oct 16, 2008 at 1:35:37 pm PDT

Fresh from a no-Jews-allowed “Global Dialog” conference with the mullahs in Tehran, former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan announces his endorsement of Barack Obama: AFP: Former UN chief mulls ‘phenomenal’ Obama presidency.

DUBLIN (AFP) — A US presidential poll victory for Barack Obama would be “phenomenal,” former UN chief Kofi Annan said Thursday, adding that whoever wins needs to learn the lessons of the last eight years. ...

When asked if the United States and the world was ready for a black US president, he said: “I think it would be a phenomenal change for the US and for the world.

“It would introduce a new dynamics (sic) and a new relationship between the US and the world. Whoever wins this presidency will have to come out prepared to work in partnership with the rest of the world,” he told reporters.

And he added: “I think we have learned some lessons in the past eight years and I hope whoever wins will bear that in mind.”

This interesting comment from somebody who knows Obama personally,

A while back I chatted with a University of Chicago professor who was a frequent lunch companion of Obama's. This professor said that Obama was as close to a full-out Marxist as anyone who has ever run for president of the United States. Now, I tend to quickly dismiss that kind of talk as way over the top. My working assumption is that Obama is firmly within the mainstream of Democratic politics. But if he is as free with that sort of redistributive philosophy in private as he was on the campaign trail this week, I have no doubt that U of C professor really does figure him as a radical. And after last night's debate, a few more Americans might think that way, too. McCain's best line: "Now, of all times in America, we need to cut people's taxes. We need to encourage business, create jobs, not spread the wealth around."

New dynamics?

Like not even the courtesy for a reach-around after we get screwed and the world decides that they like our money but hate us anyway?

Bend over and take it?
The new dynamics are going to suck - though it's pretty much the same as the old dynamics, which is that the dictators and thugs hate the US, but they think they can work with Obama and push him to their needs. And they're betting on that happening...

OBAMA ATTEMPTING TO NOW CANCEL ALL CAMPAIGN DEBATES WITH THE JEWISH COMMUNITY

Obama Campaign Withdraws From Two Jewish Debates
Will they duck debates in Philadelphia, Los Angeles, New York and Cleveland?

Washington, D.C. (October 16, 2008) -- The Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) Executive Director Matt Brooks issued the following statement today:

Now that the Presidential debates are over, the Obama campaign is trying to cancel all remaining debates in the Jewish community that include the Republican Jewish Coalition.

Claiming they do not like recent RJC advertisements, the Obama campaign has formally instructed all of its representatives to cancel their scheduled appearances with any representative of the RJC. Former Congressman Mel Levine (CA) yesterday informed the Valley Cities Jewish Community Center that he would no longer show up for his scheduled debate this Sunday against RJC California Director Larry Greenfield. State Representative Josh Shapiro (PA) informed Temple Sinai that he would not participate in a forum with RJC Philadelphia Director Scott Feigelstein.

"The RJC is deeply troubled by this effort on the part of the Obama campaign to stifle and limit a debate on the important issues facing our country," said Brooks. "More than anything the Jewish community values dialogue. What is the Obama campaign afraid of? Why is the Obama campaign afraid to have this conversation?"

"With their recently enacted policy of not debating representatives of the RJC, the Obama campaign has underscored Senator Obama's problems in the Jewish community. It is unfortunate that the Obama campaign is unwilling and afraid to have a candid conversation in the Jewish community on the issues of great concern to Jewish voters," said Brooks.

"Throughout this campaign, the RJC has highlighted the truth about Obama's positions, his statements and his advisers. Every point raised in our ads is sourced, cited and has previously been reported in the media. We ask legitimate questions about Obama's policies towards Israel, the Middle East and Iran. Our ads have raised legitimate concerns over Obama's associations with Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Zbigniew Brzezinski, Robert Malley, Tony McPeak and David Bonior. If the Obama campaign is unhappy with our ads, then Senator Obama should never have associated with these individuals in the first place," Brooks added.

"Currently, the RJC is scheduled to participate in 29 debates between now and the election. In keeping with the long-standing tradition of Jewish dialogue, we look forward to these opportunities to engage the Jewish community on the critical issues," said Brooks.

The Race-baiting clique (Jackson, Sharpton, Wright) know it.
Harry and Nancy know it.
Dinner Jacket knows it.

and now, Kofi knows it....big deal

The only ones who don't know it are the poor fools that have been swayed by his smooth talking....pity, that is.

32 nikis-knight  Thu, Oct 16, 2008 1:46:01pm

Obama has already promised millions to this or similiar unaccountable golabl beaurocrats via his global poverty fund.
I wish the next R at the state dept. would create a provision that all American foreign aid MUST go to Americans on the ground in the respective country: American doctors working in hospitals built by American firms (local labor okay); American defense contractors buiding weapons to be distributed to trustworthy military officiers and auditied thereafter by Americans; American engineers working with the locals on dams or mosquito control or whatever.
End the graft.

As long as the next president doesnt do any of that stuff, the UN has our back!

"We live in an inter-related world, we live in the same boat and we are facing problems that are so enormous that no one country, however powerful, can tackle them alone," said Annan.

WTH is he talking about? The US gives more than its share to the UN (besides providing a safe haven for its inmates), donates billions to fight poverty and aids in Africa and around the world, fights the wars no one else will (albeit with some international help), provides for relief after natural catastrophies, provides for safe international shipping lanes.
When we ask other countries for assisstance and are turned down, do we take our ball and go home? What an ungrateful SOTE.

And he added: “I think we have learned some lessons in the past eight years and I hope whoever wins will bear that in mind.”

Yeah Kofi, we Americans learned a lot too. We learned why the French, the Russians, and others, and, oh almost forgot -- the UN, turned their chickenshit backs on the US and failed to support us in ridding the world of a genocidal subhuman sleaze who murdered over half a million people. I for one will never forget "Oil for Food" - - the biggest white collar crime perpetrated upon mankind in the history of the world. The fact you sir are still breathing is a testament to America's goodness.

Don't forget, over the past 8 years, the UN has hosted MORE THAN ONCE a genocidal madman calling for the destruction of Israel and APPLAUDED.

If the election comes down like 2000 I think there will be far more problems then that!

I've suggested the UN building become a museum for the UN's failures (if they all fit) - all the genocides it failed to prevent; all the peacekeeping missions where it failed to keep the peace; all the rapes and atrocities committed by its troops; etc.

Coffin Anus should have a whole gallery for himself. He was the official in charge of Rwanda during the genocides, and he has not exactly done anything to redeem himself since.

I gave him that name because he's been responsible for enough deaths that he'd have to pull coffins out of his ass to bury everyone.

(Waiting; I have a phone interview at 5:30 EDT. Laid off last Friday; have enough contacts that I have been busier looking for work than I was working!)

Will we ever see a non-white PM of any European country?

How many black, etc EU MPs are there?

HOw many non-Asian lawmakers are there in Asia?

How many Jews,.....forget it.

The United States is the most racially tolerant nation in the world.

THat's why Gwen Ifil's family emigrated here.

That's why Hines Ward's family left Korea, where 70-90% of non-pure Korean blood children drop out of school. They came to the United States to FLEE RACIAL DISCRIMATION. In the 70s!

How many minorities are there in Russia? Japan?

I'm not concerned what people from countries with absolutely ZERO experience with race/minority relations have to say about the US and race.

The Brits love to talk about how they "outlawed" slavery, yet they had no problem being the #1 importer of Slave cotton in the world. Any word of a non-white PM anytime soon? Even after giving their non-white colonial subjects citizenship?

It is an effen ruse.

Slavery was "outlawed" in Saudi Arabia in 1960s.

The US lost 650,000 citizens in a war to end it.

Enough is enough already.

I will not be lectured by the most racist, intolerant backwards and pseudo-enlightened countries anywhere!

The danger is, other countries know 0bama wouldn't defend this country; he hates it. Who'd think we'd have a presidential candidate who sat through 20 years of "G-d damn America" and praised the church and preacher?
(McCain probably heard similar, but by his guards and torturers, not by people he chose to be with.)

Of course The One boiled GWB leadership role during the aftermath as just telling people "to go shop."

McCain should have called him on that immeadiately.

Bush was right to say and do what he did. 9/11 wasn't designed to achieve a military objective, but to do psychological damage. Bush sent the message to Americans, and the world that despite their best efforts it would be business as usual for us, and that our enemies had failed.

The "what if" game in regards to toppling Saddam is interesting and complicated. If we preserved the status quo, there is no question that it would have been a tougher neighborhood.

The fight in Iraq has been tough. The next president must finish the job and make sure there is a transfer of power away from Maliki. Until they have that first peaceful transfer, it's a dangerous place. After 3 or 4 such transfers, the whole region will see what happened and we could have another revolution like the fall of the Berlin wall. (Excuse my optimism.)

The United States has worked in "partnership" with other countries in the world for the past eight years on issues where the interests of the United States and others have intersected. Countries do not have permanent alliances but rather permenent interests as Lord Acton famously noted. Robert Kagan does an excellent job of illustrating the divergent interests between the United States and many European countries regarding the "War on Terror" and Iraq specifically in the Sept/Oct issue of "Foreign Affairs." This trope of the Bush Administration as a renegade cowboy in the international arena is a joke. One just needs to look at the unilateral foreign policy manuevers and policies of China (over Tibet and Taiwan which the Chinese consider part of China), Russia (militarily in Georgia, energy in Eastern Europe), France (Africa) and compare them to the last eight years of US Policy to see the weakness of Kofi Annan's arguments.

Quick, help!

My daughter has been showing her LLL boyfriend all the links to articles, etc, that I've sent her - many of them thanks to you all at LGF.

The latest one broke him down a bit. It was from Market Watch about how the Dems want to tax 401ks and to make it mandatory to contribute to a government-run retirement program. Although he still says this election should not be all about what money we get to keep.

But he's still holding firm on the health-insurance issue. He firmly believes The One's health care plan is much better than McCain's. That's his deal-breaker, apparently - or so he says.

I've tried the socialized medicine argument & he doesn't buy it - even though my husband's from Canada & has told the BF the horror stories.

The BF says many other countries all around the world have socialized medicine & preventive health care - and they have higher life expectancies than the US.

Where can I get hold of a good comparison of McCain & Obama's plans?

I wouldn't bother, except my daughter & the BF live in Virginia - and he intends to vote.

Thanks!

re: #226 Florida Lady

The BF says many other countries all around the world have socialized medicine & preventive health care - and they have higher life expectancies than the US.

Explain to him there are REASONS the "average" life expectancy is lower her than other countries.

INNER CITY VIOLENCE,, how many 15-30 year olds are killed each year in Detroit, Newark, East St. Louis. NO preventave health program protects one from an Urban Gang with GUNS. Those deaths lower our age of expectancy
CAR/ BUS fatality accidents. We have many many more accidents than lets say a France ,, REASON ,, we have many many more vehicle driven miles
LIFESTYLE , Some European countries have a 35 hour MAXIMUM work week. We average a good percentage higher than that. Work related deaths, less time to prepare and eat helathy meals (fast food chains are the choice of many). Now don't get me wrong, I do NOT want to ban McDonalds, and would advise EVERYONE to eat at places like that only occasioanly at most. But I'm sure you know people that LIVE on the stuff

re: #226 Florida Lady

Just do a google search and you will find comparisons of the healthcare plans. None of them are worth a dime.

Why?

The real issue is that Obama wants - basically - a govt. mandate to provide healthcare for everyone. This might work for a period and be hailed as a success. Over time, however, the distortions created by no econmic decisions will cause the healthcare infrastructure to crumble - look at Canada, or Britain, or Cuba. Try ordering a phone a Venezuala and wait a month for instalation. Or, closer to home, look at the mess a well-intentioned mortgage program crecently created in the USA.

Why are people so thick? A government takeover of any industry is never a good idea. Eventually, it will crumble.

I hope this helps. It's even from CNN.

What many voters do not realize is that the problem with health care in the US is not only that not everyone has it (although I read recently that 45% of people without health insurance could get it if they wanted to, right now), BUT - more importantly - the reason not everyone has it is that those with health insurance overuse and drive up costs, which makes it harder to afford. Obama's plan does not address costs. McCain's plan does.

On the one hand I can sympathize with those, especially blacks, who crave to see a black POTUS, if for no other reason to exhibit parity among the races. re: #226 Florida Lady

McCain's health plan (especially the tax incentive features) is better than Obama's by far. The underlying principle is that consumers should control their own health care dollars and health care, not third parties like HMOs or the government.

The fundamental problem with employer-paid health insurance is that large corporations can deduct their employee benefit plan contributions, including contributions to health plans, from their taxes. They systematically over-insure their employees with gold-plated health plans including benefits far more than 90% of employees need. That results in huge overspending in employer-sponsored health benefit plans on premiums for unnecessary benefits that never are used.

Because all of this overspending is tax deductible, the U.S. taxpayer takes the hit for the overspending and the excessive deductions. McCain proposes to limit the deduction to permit reasonable levels of insurance, to shift the money saved to health insurance for the poor, and to permit self-insured individuals to buy their own insurance and use health savings accounts to control their own health care, with premiums deductible to the same extent as at the large corporate employers.

This changes the incentives away from HMOs and the government towards consumer-driven health care, a big improvement.

There is one really simple thing about socialized medicine in Europe that is taboo to talk about, and you won't see the MSM ever bring up. European socialized medicine is subsidized by the consumers in the United States.

About half of the top 20 Pharma and medtech companies are US companies, and the rest of the list is filled out by mostly European and Asian companies, with one Israeli. Only a handful of companies truly dominate the market, not only in advancement, but in volume. They all operate internationally, and they all operate in the US.

European governments do not subsidize the costs of their medical equipment and medicine. They negotiate what they are willing to pay the companies that sell the product. What they pay essentially covers a fraction of ingredient costs, and overhead and not a dime in marketing, R&D, etc. These massive companies, regardless of where in the world they claim as home, make the lion's share of their profits in America.

The model of European socialized medicine is built around America not using that same model. We (the governmetn) can't go to Big Pharma and the medtech companies and set a price for them. They really only make their profit here. If it weren't for us paying, 'over the counter' with privatized healthcare, or from tax dollars, the entire business model of these companies would fail. We pay more, so Europeans and just about everywhere else can get it for free.

In regards to this particular industry, America is a colony of Europe.

Seriously, we need plumbers more than my occupation (software engineer). If I had to do without computers or without toilets, I'd give up the computers.

Kosh, you are so on the mark with your response. I operate a small service business and chances of finding help in the service industry is difficult at best. Industry magazines constantly contain articles on how we may attract new personnel. It seems that HS & college grads prefer a white collar job in IT. The market of blue collar employees is shrinking at an incredible rate. If you don't believe me, check out the labor rate charged you by plumbers, electricians, carpenters or car mechanics. I pay my techs $23-$25 per hour and that is a low rate but I make it up in perks. Most tech's in our field earn $28-$32 per hour. Don't even get me started on the benefits I have to supply to keep good help. Elitists like the "O" have no clue on how we operate or that we are the people that keep everything running. My employees are getting older and I can't find replacements.

The "O" offers a 3K tax break to hire new employees. Even if I could find the help I need, 3K doesn't even begin to cover the cost of the benefits I have to offer. BTW, I'm looking now for an apprentice without the "O"'s tax break. Hey BHO take your tax break and stuff it where the sun never shines.

Conyers complains that the FBI is interfering with the election.....

Conyers On FBI ACORN Probe

Below is a letter sent by Rep. John Conyers (D-MI), chair of the House judiciary committee, to Attorney General Michael Mukasey and FBI director Robert Mueller, in reaction to the news that the FBI has launched an investigation into ACORN in connection with its voter-registration activities.

In raising questions about DOJ's motives, Conyers makes the obvious link to the U.S. attorneys scandal, in which several U.S. attorneys were fired for not pursuing voter fraud cases with sufficient aggressiveness. And he makes the point that John McCain had raised the ACORN issue in last night's debate.

re: #298 Scion9

You can construe worker's comp as a sort of socialized medicine.

I knew some neighborhood docs who got rich off this scam.

Worker's comp is a network so filled with fraudulent doctors, lawyers, chiropractors, physical therapists and others "on the take" for what essentially is a government and out that it strains the budgets of city governmental organizations - think transit, streets dept., etc. Minor strain injury (or faked one) or fender bender auto accident = your ticket to six months and more paid vacation. MRI of spine showing any 'deviation from normal' at all (which most people have) can make for even more paid leisure and spa a.k.a. injury clinic for hot packs and physical therapy a.k.a. massage.

When a worker's comp fraud injury is challenged, it often gets handled by an arbitrator, such as from AAA (not the car organization).

Guess what side of the political spectrum predominates there?

Weird, when I hear progressive - I think -- someone so far left that they are embarrassed by the term "liberal". -or- Communist.

"Progressive" was the term first used by socialists in the US to avoid admitting that they were socialists, going back to the pre-WW 1 era. The term "liberal" was conceived during the FDR era, when they realized that the American people had "broken the code" and knew that a "progressive" was likely someone who had no problem with the International Workers of the World (IWW, or "Wobblies") setting fire to wheat fields in the American MidWest in the hopes of causing food shortages leading to civil unrest they could capitalize on to foment a Communist revolution. Now things have come full circle- since the crypto-fascist Marxists of the DKos crowd and their cronies in the Democrat leadership have made the term "liberal" stink on ice, they're going back to "Progressive" again. This is why I've used it here since, well, since I've been here.

This campaign has built the largest field operation in history, and we need to mobilize it in these remaining days to get every single voter to the polls on Election Day.

Because that's what it comes down to -- counting every last vote.

Ol' Plugs says it comes down to "counting every last vote", which the Dems will attempt to do over and over and over ad nauseum...until they "find" enough votes to win.

I'm not really sorry since every day I'm forced to deal with an employee base that grows older without a pool of replacements. If you think that today's labor charges of those that fix things is high, just wait 5 years when those of us, that are willing to get our hands dirty, retire and there is a void of replacements. Today's labor rates will look like a bargain. Trust me, I've been doing this for 36 years and am looking forward to retirement in 5 years.

Moreover, I'd hope that McCain would pull the U.S. out of the U.N. and form his League of Democracies instead - he's said he'd form that League of Democracies often enough that THAT could be the reason Kofi want's Obama to win.

Re #313 GeeWiz:

Hell a good plumber can make more than a college prof. The problem with Obama and the Left is they believe Karl Marx actually understood the working class (Take a look at Marx's own personal labor history). Marx assumed all workers, from the most skilled craftsman to the unskilled, illiterate laborer, had the same economic interests and aspirations. Nothing could be further from the truth. High-end skilled labor is just as desirous of becoming part of the Capitalist class as the Bourgeoise. Examine any restaurant for example. Most Chefs, Maitre'ds, Lead Bartenders who stay in the business eventually want to work for themselves becoming partners in the restaurant through sweat equity or finding investors to open their own restaurant. Joe the Plumber is no different. The uniqueness of America's modern capitalist system is it allows for skilled workers (the "Aristocracy of the Working Class") to move up into the Capitalist class through sweat equity. (Unfortunately the concept of "sweat equity" seems lost on Obama, the left, and media chattering class.)

re: #240 sattv4u2

Another thing you may wish to note is that those European countries with socialized health care that have higher average life expectancies are also overwhelmingly lily white. Try comparing non-Hispanic white life expectancies in the US, if one wishes to compare apples to apples.

What arrogance! The United States need not apologize for herself. Kofi is like the rest of the empty suit pols who bloat the United Nations and the EU - they want job security. Obama would be their useful tool and McCain would not.

Very simple, actually.

I certainly did. . .GWB was right to go on ahead to war as he did- all my asshattery to the contrary, I did not really understand the whole picture, but I do now, and I am proud of my 2 sons and 1 brother now serving. . .

Not really. IIRC, a sporting event was delayed so McCain could give his acceptance speech at the convention*. Plus they are also offering McCain the same opportunity. Now if only the rest of the MSLM would do the same.

* Now going to find the link to back this up :-)

Ohh, IIRC. . .I can see the connection. . . acceptance speech= Obama's prime time self fellatio fest yeah, right. Well, good thing he lied about how he was going to fund his Divination. . .I mean run for office, so he could afford such pricey prime time digs!

Got Link? I have yet to see it. . .

re: #392 rexatosis

The uniqueness of America's modern capitalist system is it allows for skilled workers (the "Aristocracy of the Working Class") to move up into the Capitalist class through sweat equity. (Unfortunately the concept of "sweat equity" seems lost on Obama, the left, and media chattering class.)

I guess you didn't get the memo about the working class is nothing more than the slaves (serfs) of our society. Wait 5 years and then espouse your position. I await with baited breath.

Today's ads talk about the transfer of wealth out of this country due to high oil prices. The defeat of the off-shore drilling moratorium may correct that but it will, trust me on this, be replaced by the cost of this country's need for the service industry. The only bright point is that the money, should we find adequate replacements, would remain here. We can out-source IT support but we cannot out-source those that keep this country running. Joe the plumber gets it and BHO has no clue. Does BHO merit our vote for POTUS when he can't visualize something that Joe deals with? I think not!

re: #392 rexatosis

I agree with your POV and think that people of the trades income will meet or exceed those of the members of academia elites, much to their disdain. It's the whole "ying/yang" thingy that the left never understands.

423 odinga  Thu, Oct 16, 2008 6:12:39pm

The October surprise is Joe the Plumber.

This "working-blue-collar-tax" "spread-the-wealth" meme will not die. It has hit critical mass and Obama is now off his game. Between Saracuda and Joe the Plumber, the MSM is spinning fast and furious. The more they shoot at Joe the Plumber the less amo they have for Palin.

Obama is screwing himself into the ground.

I give the McCain camp some credit for letting McCain mention this several times in the last debate. Brilliant!

424 GeeWiz  Thu, Oct 16, 2008 6:14:53pm

Hezballah

Communist Party of the USA

The Weather Underground.

428 leftover54  Thu, Oct 16, 2008 6:29:09pm

Damn, I record the debates and miss the best of all - McCain is ripping Obama, Matthes, Obernman, the MSM, ACORN - everyone you can think of - a 5 mile wide hole at the Al. Smith Memorial Dinner. Everything we wanted to hear at the freakin debates & this is where he takes the gloves off ! Zeeeeshh. I hope it isn't too long to prevent it from being uploaded on youtube.

Obamas turn though is coming next.

429 soniq95  Thu, Oct 16, 2008 6:34:15pm

I can't imagine anyone at the UN being opposed to Obama. They're all probably crossing their fingers just waiting for the new cash influx from his Global Poverty Initiative.

[new hatchling soniq95, just walking on my eggshells here]

430 leftover54  Thu, Oct 16, 2008 6:37:20pm

Obama - "I can see from here all the way to the "Russian Tea Room", a crack about "where are the columns I asked ?" for & I'm used to stadium sized venues.

Oh, McCain event brought up Matthews' tickle up the leg
and talked about Oberman needing a rubber room...ten somethng about "choke on it Keith".
Obama goofing on the $ in the economy...probably not a good one...made a crack 'bout Bloomburg taking the subway these days".

"Got my middle name obviously from someone that didn't know someday I'd be running for POTUS".
That was a good one...

431 loggiedog  Thu, Oct 16, 2008 6:42:24pm

I think McCain did better in this speech. So far Obama hasn't admitted his connection with the Ayers terrorist or people like farrakhan or wright. He also sounded like a snob. The middle name joke was his best joke.

432 loggiedog  Thu, Oct 16, 2008 6:44:07pm

Obama didn't do as well. Should have had this for the debates McCain would have won

434 leftover54  Thu, Oct 16, 2008 7:23:56pm

Last night I commented that McCain should have looked into the camera and asked "would you go to Ayers house for a cup of suger let alone kick off your campaign" (or close to this) and here they ALL are, Bishops (?) etc., all
sitting around together (in the same room) having a great big laugh !

Re: GeeWiz, if you check in tomorrow morning:

Got the memo back in the day when I started Graduate School paying for it as a short order/lead line cook pounding out 150-250 covers per night while taking classes full-time listening to a bunch of volvo Marxists who never worked a day of manual or skilled labor in their life blasted me for "illogical" thinking since I didn't toe the party line (GREs 800/800 on the analytical section) then blasted me for not being serious as an academic since I didn't quit my cooking gig and rack up a ton of student loan debt (Given the success rate in the Humanities for Grad Students achieving an eventual tenured position is slim at best cranking up $10,000s in debt is/was not a very financially prudent decision). Still cook (bake actually) for local/community charity events and got the last laugh, tenured :) And if the Che t-shirt wearing fools ever do get their precious revolution I'll just melt back into the working class while they get their useless asses sent either to re-reducation camps or lined up and shot by the new Stalin/Mao/Castro/Pol Pot (or since many Academic Marxists love Trotsky, an axe to the back of the skull). Of course I prefer to keep the American Experiment going since I prefer tenure to 50+ hours in a hot kitchen;)

437 JacksonTn  Thu, Oct 16, 2008 7:52:23pm

There would never be enough for people like Senator Government ...... they will always want more ......Socialists operate on an idealistic notion of human nature that imagines individuals will work as hard for the benefit of others as
they will for the benefit of themselves and their families. Socialists are egalitarians in the worst sense of that term. While conservatives believe in equality of opportunity, socialists would dictate equality of outcome. Since socialism fails to reward individual excellence, it gets much less of it. By undermining incentives, socialism undermines prosperity. Socialism is a perfect system for perfectly self-sacrificing human beings. It cannot and does not work with the imperfect, real world species that we are.............

Hey mate. Welcome. No need to walk on eggshells here.

Just ensure that you leave troll and moby comments at the doormat on the way in and you'll do just fine.

Contrarian views are just fine and dandy in here, but do be prepared to be able to defend them with 'chapter and verse'. Free fair debate is warmly welcomed, just don't let Charles catch you sprouting Intelligent Design stuff or you might get a sore arse! hehehe :)

440 leftover54  Thu, Oct 16, 2008 8:09:54pm

I just deleted an hours worth of typing - a true rant. I'm pissed off beyond belief right now. When I heard McCain reference Ayers the other night I felt a connection of sorts, felt my strongly held beliefs abut the anointed ones shady background had been validated. I'm having a MAJOR problem-o right now and I don't know how to put it in words. I just know I've been in the company of some serious men on occasions when some low life has walked into the room. Good, serious, moral, ethical, dedicated to their country, kinda guys - got up and left the room when scumbags entered. I just witnessed a guy that I'm told hung out with terrorists, is linked to voter fraud type organizations, cop killers etc.,etc.,rub elbows with the elite of every top organization and political party etc.,etc. heard him complimented like he was "citizen of the year"... given a microphone to get up to the podium and crack jokes, applauded....his jokes laughed at - knee slapping, belly laughs...everyone having a good time... what am I supposed to think here ?

441 Odinga  Thu, Oct 16, 2008 8:36:00pm

The game changing event that is going to kick Obama to the curb is called the election.

The polls are way off. No way is FL and PA going to Obama. No Way. OH is all McCain, so is CO.

Nearly every MSM article is premised by accepting the Polls as concrete reality. Polls do not simulate an election, especially not this election.

Birds of a feather flock together is an adage I think is apropo.

Historically, one's character can be determined by the associations formed and alliances forged. Good ole Kofi is about as corrupt as they come and he would not be licking at Obama's boots if the O was not covered with fleas himself.

O! might lose the election, but he won't lose PA. ACORN registered 250,000 imaginary voters in Philadelphia who will all be voting Democrat.

O! can't lose PA.
