Iowahawk: I Am Joe

Politics | Sat, Oct 18, 2008 at 9:19:41 am PDT

The Hawk gets serious: I Am Joe.

I hope you will join me in expressing a simple bit of solidarity with this guy, Spartacus style. I AM JOE. I am a Wal Mart schlub in flyover country who changes my own oil and unclogs drains without a license. I smoke and drink beer and toss the football in the front yard with my kid, and I figure I can fend my way without handouts from some Magic Messiah’s candy bags. Most everyone in my family and most everyone I grew up with is another Joe, and if you screw with them, you screw with me.

Are you a Joe? Say it proud. Leave it on every goddamn newspaper comment section and online forum. Let these pressroom and online thugs know you won’t stay silent when they try to destroy the life of a private citizen for speaking his mind — because for every one of them, there are a million Joe Wurzelbachers. And for that we should all be thankful.

It might take more than that to help out Gov. David Patterson's (D-NY) chief of staff, who didn't pay taxes for five years in NYS. $200k.

Yeah, I'm sure the media was really done digging around for stuff on politicians that they used their spare time to investigate Joe the Plumber. /

58 J.D.  Sat, Oct 18, 2008 9:37:03am
...Crunching the numbers, Obama's 28 male staffers were paid a total of $1,523,120 for an average salary of $54,397. Obama's 30 female employees divided $1,354,580 for a female average salary of $45,152. Obama's female staffers, on average, make just 83 cents to the dollar his male staffers make.

McCain's office, by contrast, is a feminist fantasy. McCain's 17 male staffers carve up $916,914 for an average salary of $53,936. His 25 female employees split $1,396,958 for average pay of $55,878. In McCain's office, a woman earns $1.04 for every buck a man makes.

Practice what you preach, Sen. Obama.

What really pisses me off is clowns like Biden saying "how many plumbers do you know that make $250k a year?" Well, Biden (not Joe), a lot out here in CA. One of my Nephews makes 6 figures laying A/C ducting. Plus, we're talking about a BUSINESS, not an individual in Joe's case.

He wants to buy a business. This is not a fantasy. He has to hire people, something completely foreign to these senators. He has somebody to answer the phone, keep the books, write checks, and then a van or two, and then maybe one or two other people to help plumb. So, when he starts to get more than $250k, he needs to worry about this!

Hell, right now we're wondering how to handle this magic cut-off point. So, if we make $240k we're okay, but if we make $251k we're worse off than if we made $24k? WTF is up with that? Where on EARTH is any incentive to produce and hire people?!?

We're actually looking at setting our income so we don't make "X" amount as to be penalized. Talk about Bizarro world.

79 lawhawk  Sat, Oct 18, 2008 9:42:22am

Is it me, or did John McCain just use the S word regarding Obama's policies?

I believe he did. And he's right. But leave it to the media to get how taxes work to try and claim that McCain's health insurance makeover is socialism:

Republican presidential candidate John McCain on Saturday accused Democratic rival Barack Obama of favoring a socialistic economic approach by supporting tax cuts and tax credits McCain says would merely shuffle wealth rather than creating it.

"At least in Europe, the Socialist leaders who so admire my opponent are upfront about their objectives," McCain said in a radio address. "They use real numbers and honest language. And we should demand equal candor from Sen. Obama. Raising taxes on some in order to give checks to others is not a tax cut; it's just another government giveaway."

McCain, though, has a health care plan girded with a similar philosophy. He proposes providing individuals with a $5,000 tax credit to buy health insurance. He would pay for his plan, in part, by considering as taxable income the money their employer spends on their health coverage.

And as usual, they turn it into his individual earnings - gotta keep pushing that class envy thing. No, after even just 2 or 3 other people, along with inventory and expenses, that's not a lot of dough. And once again, just where is that magic cut-off point and what's the penalty?

I'm not Joe.

I don't identify with Joe's work and lifestyle. Mine is different.

It's more in sync with some of Obama's most fervent supporters. More book learned, more educated then Joe. Not that educated always means smart as some prove by who they are supporting.

But I need the Joes of America in my life or my car wouldn't run well and the toilet if needed wouldn't be repaired, and there would be no one to protect and defend me and my family.

If the Joes gets paid for doing good hard work, the government shouldn't penalize and take away their income to share it with people who don't work as hard as Joe, or at all.

I support Joe 100% because at the end of the day, Joe, or any other productive American, will suffer under what Obama plans for us all. And that is something the more educated Obama supporters- those who look down on Joe- seem unable to grasp.

The whole "share the wealth" mantra highlights the complete moronic mindset of the liberal left: "We give people free money and there will be light and music and bunnies and unicorns." If they truly wanted to help people, there would be programs that emphasized developing personal responsibility within a set time period.

Him selling plasma when things got tight, working and going to school at night and cleaning a daycare after classes. Me working and on weekends sticking kids in a Radio Flyer going door to door selling Avon. Kids working while in high school if they wanted a car much less gas for it and insurance. One son every Saturday morning would get up and mow our lawn then go around the neighborhood with the lawnmower making money mowing neighbor's lawns coming home when it was dark. Daughters making flyers advertising babysitting services. We are like millions of other Joe's in this country, we are America.

ScrappleFace Editorial Board Endorses Barack Obama

Rarely has one man so captivated a nation with his readiness to prepare to serve.

That’s why the editorial board at ScrappleFace, on behalf of the vast editorial staff, today endorses Barack Obama for the office of junior senator from Illinois.

Although the prospect of an Obama presidency, from a satirical perspective, represents a hopeful future of full employment, the editors of ScrappleFace cannot let their own needs stand in the way of the needs of the Senate, or indeed, of the people of the world.

Barack Obama’s temperament makes him ideally suited to an institution that President George Washington reportedly once called ‘the cooling saucer’ of the Republic. Evidence of Mr. Obama’s suitability for this role is manifold…

According to friends (who he calls ‘Obam-associates’) , Barack Obama is so cool…

* The only reason he doesn’t smoke very often is that the flame on his cigarette keeps going out.
* Once, during a conference committee meeting, Rep. Barney Frank borrowed Sen. Obama’s pen, and immediately got his tongue stuck to its frosty surface. Even then, Sen. Obama was so cool, he just reached over and snapped the pen from Rep. Frank’s mouth, leaving the grateful Congressman with no lasting effect but a barely-noticeable speech impediment.
* At a recent concert and political rally, when Bruce Springsteen got ‘The Fever’, he skipped the Tylenol, because his friend Barack was there. When The Boss sang ‘I’m on Fire’, Sen. Obama extinguished him.
* When his wife Michelle, his former pastor Jeremiah Wright, or a guy in his neighborhood named Bill Ayers, occasionally let loose with fiery outbursts of anger, just being near Barack Obama allows them to ‘chill’ like a typical white grandmother, shivering because she just saw a black man.
* Despite his elite education in private schools and substantial wealth acquired through individual initiative, he calmly tells fellow African-Americans that their only hope lies in dependence upon union bosses and government social programs.
* When pondering the fate of an aborted infant, accidentally born alive, he can dispassionately discourse on whether the mother’s right to privacy, under the Roe v. Wade amendment to the Constitution, should continue until the baby’s first, or second, bounce on the delivery room floor.
...

We are typical white, average Joe, American's - who work hard - not for the government and not for our 'wealth' to be "spread around", but for ourselves. Clinging to our guns (literally, since the Joe's are out doe hunting this weekend) and our religion....clinging...since the libs and ACLU would have no problem eliminating both from us. ‘Out of my classification,’ said the pig.

‘I’d lose my seniority,’ said the cow.

‘I’d lose my unemployment compensation,’ said the goose.

‘Then I will do it by myself,’ said the little red hen, and so she did. At last it came time to bake the bread.

‘Who will help me bake the bread?’ asked the little red hen.
‘That would be overtime for me,’ said the cow.

‘I’d lose my welfare benefits,’ said the duck.

‘I’m a dropout and never learned how,’ said the pig.

‘If I’m to be the only helper, that’s discrimination,’ said the goose.

‘Then I will do it by myself,’ said the little red hen.

She baked five loaves and held them up for all of her neighbors to see. They wanted some and, in fact, demanded a share. But the little red hen said, ‘No, I shall eat all five loaves.’

‘Excess profits!’ cried the cow. (Nancy Pelosi)
‘Capitalist leech!’ screamed the duck. (Barbara Boxer)

‘I demand equal rights!’ yelled the goose. (Jesse Jackson)

The pig just grunted in disdain. (Chris Dodd)

And they all painted ‘Unfair!’ picket signs and marched around and around the little red hen, shouting obscenities.
Then the farmer (Obama) came. He said to the little red hen, ‘You must not be so greedy.’

‘But I earned the bread,’ said the little red hen.
‘Exactly,’ said Barack the farmer. ‘That is what makes our free enterprise system so wonderful. Anyone in the barnyard can earn as much as he wants. But under our modern government regulations, the productive workers must divide the fruits of their labor with those who are lazy and idle.’

209 Lynn B.  Sat, Oct 18, 2008 10:16:37am

Just a reminder ... The US tax system relies on voluntary compliance. Once in a while a little muscle needs to be applied but that's only effective because most people more or less honestly fill in their forms and send in their checks. BUT. It's been well documented that the level of compliance rises and falls with the perception that the tax system is fair. And 90% of the taxes are paid by a very small minority of the super-rich, i.e., those folks who can easily afford expensive tax lawyers who can find ways for them to save their money. Lots of their money. Again, resort to sophisticated tax planning techniques (as well as outright cheating) increases exponentially as tax rates increase on the wealthy and perception of fairness falls.

SO. If Obama, God forbid, should ever implement the disastrous tax policies he's proposing, policies that no one except the people who aren't paying them could possibly perceive as fair, then the level of compliance will plummet, which means revenue will decrease, dramatically, which means ... at some point the pendulum will swing back. As it has in the past. The Democrats have very short memories.

Well hello again all y'all - got most of the chores done (y'all have no idea how hard you have to work when you're retired!).
Love this Iowahawk article. Truly.

But American "elites" haven't always been so scornful of the "Joes" in America. Indeed, our Founding Fathers needed and appreciated "Joe's" much more than do the "elities" of today.
The good citizens of Boston, for example, actually had to go around and raise money to buy Samuel Adams a decent suit of clothes he could wear to Philadelphia in July of 1776 and indeed helped him "cover" the cost of his transportation to get there.
And, yes of course there were slaves back then and yes some of our Founding Fathers owned slaves, but the slaves were used for, almost excusively manuel labor - pickin' cotton and what not. Skilled laborers such as our Joe were frequently "indentured servants" (a/k/a "apprentices") who learned via extremely hard work and long hours, how to make something or repair something of value. When they completed their terms of indentured servitude they went on to start their own businesses.
Ya know, sorta like Joe - work 12 or more hours a day 7 days a week [have y'all noticed how Joe's work hours and days seem to almost equal Charles?!]in an effort to move up the ladder so to speak. This looking down upon the Joe's is relatively new: we didn't have many "elites" in America, in days gone by, nor anywhere near as many people who thought they were part of the "elites" and that is the real "magic" of the Democratic Party: they manage to make office workers in cubby's, who frequently do work more than 40 hours a week, but who live in the big coastal cities - preferably near a Starbucks - and who do not, quite literally, get their hands dirty, believe that they too are part of the elites. And because they are part of the elities they do have a tendancy to look down upon those of us in "flyover country" who are "Joe's".
Is it any wonder or surprise that the (truly wannabe) "elites" support the Democrats? THEIR taxes aren't going up - at least according to Obama -only those filthy rich Republicans will finally begin to bear their fare share of the burden of supporting America.

But under our modern government regulations, the productive workers must divide the fruits of their labor with those who are lazy and idle.’

i don't think " the little red hen" is taught in 1st. grade anymore.
i'm sure it's something just like this.

I'm an adjunct professor and my husband is a full professor. We are both conservatives and no one at our jobs has any idea. I'm sure I would never be rehired if it came out. Canvassers, not ACORN, at fault

King County Prosecutor Dan Satterberg, a Republican, said last year that the ACORN case in Seattle had nothing to do with manipulating outcomes and everything to do with the workers' efforts to keep their $8-an-hour jobs. If anyone was defrauded, it was ACORN, an acronym for Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now.

Satterberg just lost my vote. Course he's got to kiss the County Execs ass to get funding but still no vote from me.

There are Joes all over the world who have suffered under socialism. It's not US-centric, IMO. Of course you can be a Joe. Anyone who wants a better life and wants not to be punished for succeeding is a Joe, I think.

I'd love for the 'I Am Joe' movement to take over the world.

I know a guy from Canada who married a Ukrainian woman and moved to Ukraine. They are working hard to build a good life for themselves in a former Communist country. Recently they sank their life savings into buying a truck from the U.S. so they can start an auto salvage business. The risk they are taking is breathtaking. It's also the essence of the "American" dream, which is actually a dream of people the world over.

Here is the letter I sent to the KC Star paper today:

Senator Obama was here Saturday.
I am not a supporter but wanted to go in case I could ask him a question about his tax increase.
I was told by family members not to go because they didn't want me to be destroyed by the media
like Joe the Plumber.
Read that sentence again. For simply asking a question and getting Obama to admit his socialist agenda, the media is shredding Joe and not Obama.
After all it is not the question that was the problem, it was the ANSWER!

Is anyone afraid that would happen to you if you questioned Senator McCain?

This is what he have to look forward to folks in an Obama administration.
And you want to tell me that he is the candidate that can bring people together?
What a joke.

264 Opinionated  Sat, Oct 18, 2008 10:32:29am

I wonder.

We have all heard about the dirt they are tossing at Joe. He works without a license, he owes some back taxes.

If Joe got his licence, if he caught up on his taxes, would he be able to get a security clearance to work in a national security related Government building?

With his ties to Ayers, Bernardine Dohrn, Wright, Khalid Rashidi, Acorn, etc, if he were not elected President, would Obama be able to get any high level security clearance?

Are the American people really going to vote in a President who in the normal course of investigation, the Government would not trust with its secrets?

re: #209 Lynn B.

This presumes fair elections. When Obama refuses to investigate and punish leftist vote fraud it will grow and become entrenched. And when people are too frightened to speak out against the leftists because they'll risk losing their businesses, becoming victims of violent attacks and turn-out-the-seams investigations there won't be recourse at the ballot box or in the US system of elected government.

The pendulum won't swing back if it's been snagged and hog tied through the incredible corruption of the leftist movement.

Damn it - we're an entire generation pumping gas, shopping at Wally World, waiting tables, wage slaves with white and blue collars. The government made rules that keep us in debt to companies that we would never have needed if they would just let us alone and let us pay our own way.

Us Joes are the middle children of history - not the privileged elites, and not the downtrodden lower classes living off the government's handouts. We didn't fight the Great War, we haven't had a Great Depression. Our war today is a Moral War, an Ethical Great War. We've been raised to believe that people should be free to take care of themselves. We saw our parents and grandparents fight to keep the communists and the nazis from taking those freedoms away only to wake up and discover that those same forces are taking control of the media, financial, and government institutions here in our own backyard. But we are waking up, and we are very, very pissed off!

Proud to be American
Music and Lyrics by Lee Greenwood

-------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------

If tomorrow all the things were gone I’d worked for all my life,
And I had to start again with just my children and my wife.
I’d thank my lucky stars to be living here today,
‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom and they can’t take that away.

And I’m proud to be an American where as least I know I’m free.
And I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I’d gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land God bless the U.S.A.

From the lakes of Minnesota, to the hills of Tennessee,
across the plains of Texas, from sea to shining sea,

From Detroit down to Houston and New York to LA,
Well, there’s pride in every American heart,
and it’s time to stand and say:

I’m proud to be an American where at least I know I’m free.
And I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I’d gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land God bless the U.S.A

As you know, education schools, outside of being bastions of leftist propaganda, generally draw their students from the lowest level of academic competence.
Teachers are in the bottom rank of the ruling class and therefore are desperate to prove the difference betweem themselves and the ruled ones. (The little corporal syndrome.) They are especially prone to adopting ruling class fashions and to sneering at popular ones. In my area this means hating country music and NASCAR, for example.
Obamania is fashionable. It marks you as superior to the rednecks and hardhats who are bitter and clingy. It distinguishes you as one of the enlightened.
Just my opinion, based on much observation.

From Powerline:

The lead reporter on the story, Jodi Kantor, went trolling for trash among schoolmates of the McCains' 16-year-old daughter, Bridget. Here is the email Kantor sent via Facebook to another kid at Bridget's school:

I saw on facebook that you went to Xavier, and if you don't mind, I'd love to ask you some advice about a story. I'm a reporter at the New York Times, writing a profile of Cindy McCain, and we are trying to get a sense of what she is like as a mother. So I'm reaching out to fellow parents at her kids' schools. My understanding is that some of her older kids went to Brophy/Xavier, but I'm trying to figure out what school her 16 year old daughter Bridget attends-- and a few people said it was PCDS. Do you know if that's right? Again, we're not really reporting on the kids, just seeking some fellow parents who can talk about what Mrs. McCain is like.

Also, if you know anyone else who I should talk to-- basically anyone who has encountered Mrs. McCain and might be able to share impressions-- that would be great.

Thanks so much for any help you can give me.

Every honest and fair remark about certain behaviour from non-whites - to put it very bluntly - is always too easily countered by them as us being racists and we really need to weaken the meaning of this word as it is being so deliberately misused by many 'ethnic minorities'.

Obama makes the fundamental liberal mistake.

One explanation in my mind is that Palin has a real faith in the Creator - she has said as much - and this sometimes visibly panics those who have no faith.

If you think about your friends who bash McCain and Palin, do they seem to be people of a deep faith, wether expressed through regular church going or not?

I really do think that there is a very big spiritual battle going on around this election.

ROTFL! But Joe Biden "only" has one home - it's in a "compound" of course, but still only one home!
But I wouldn't want to live in his neighborhood, nor Pelosi's nor (any of the) Kennedy's, nor Obama or even in that 93% White gated community that Rev. Wright just moved into - which, iirc, is an 11,000 sq ft "Mansion" with ONLY three bedrooms!

I think it's very important not to lose sight of the fact that one can believe in America and her values, principles, and traditions from a secular as well as a spiritual perspective.

There are many, many people out there who believe in God and prayer and spirituality who are supporting Obama. Oprah Winfrey, to name just one.

From my previous encounters with hypnosis and NLP, I have more clarity now into just why and how HBO comes across being so "credible" to many of his followers, while I see him as just another dumbass.
This is a must-read for anyone troubled by how HBO has risen so fast, and continues to maintain his charismatic hold on so many millions.
The video of HBO campaigning in Kenya during 2006 is also very enlightening, but the MSM will never touch it.

It has nothing to do with elections. The government can't operate without revenue. If they just keep raising taxes, the revenue will just continue to shrink. We've been there and done that. Even THE ONE can't get water from a stone.

Here is a MSM story about mass hypnosis and NLP Neurolinguistic programming.

The soviets were master so this....and now it is revealed in a new report that Obama is using these same techniques to lull his crowds into trances, and "anchoring" to vote for him on Nov. 4th.

Read about the man who does this professionally.

Derren Brown's bag of psychological tricks
t's all about the words Brown chooses, the careful way he mangles his instructions: when talking to the ad men, he uses the word "taxijourney" instead of "taxidermy," and yes, it's significant. In one New York grocery store, he asks the shopkeeper if he has "anything that would be good for you to take" for a headache, uttering the words "good for you to take" as he's handing over blank bills. He makes it look so easy that, if I weren't quite so upstanding, I might want to try it myself.

It's not a trick - it is psychological manipulation of the subconscience - and it can be dangerous.

I'm a business owner that prefers the blue collar aspect of the job than the running of the business part. I prefer jeans and a t-shirt on weekends and hate to wear a coat and tie during the week, but do. I drive a BMW during the week and a Ford F-250 on the weekends. On my own I can lay 8,000 square feet of grass sod, build a post and rail fence, fix anything in the house that breaks then turn right around a close a $100,000 sales contract with a client. I don't care if your black or white. American or Polish. Chinese or Mexican. You put in an honest, hard days work, love and support your family and respect your Country I'll call you my friend. I don't ask for much and I never go looking for trouble...but if trouble ever comes looking for me it better bring some friends. I AM JOE. AND I HATE EVERYTHING ABOUT OBAMA.

re: #303 wolfie

You're absolutely right.
Many people, sadly, are teachers for the power or because they liked benefits.
I am a teacher because I love kids and I love to pass on what I know
It's easy to be a mediocre, just putting th time in, teacher. It takes complete dedication to be an excellent teacher--if you're not tired at the end of the day, you're not doing it right.
I aspire to excellence every single day. Last week the guidcance counselors said something I will always cherish: "You like the kids no one else seems to."
I'm not saying this to fish for compliment but to say that I hope that the profession will reform itself soon.

My dear sweet daughter was hypnotized graduation night by the hired entertainment - and her friends told her that she was barking like a dog.

393 grumpy_old_soldier  Sat, Oct 18, 2008 11:05:05am

I am Joe, and I am an American. I am a retired soldier who is seething at the prospect of whiny, limp-wristed, bleeding heart, liberal socialists moving this country down a road that can only lead to misery and decay.

Because I am a Joe, and because I support Joe the Plumber's dream and desire of becoming a business owner, and because he and I both reject the notion of "from those according to their ability, to those according to their need" (HT to Karl Marx!), I propose the following:

1) I will contribute $25 to the "Pay The Plumber's Tax Lien" Fund, if someone can set it up.
2) I will contribute $25 to the "Let's Help Joe The Plumber Buy His Business So We Can PISS THE CRAP Out Of The Liberal Socialists" Fund, if someone can set it up, too.

I will VOLUNTARILY contribute this capital towards Joe's dream, to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with a fellow American and reject Obama and his socialist agenda.

At $50 a head, it will take 6000 American anti-socialists to meet the funding goal of $300,000.00 (JtP said his tax lien is a bit less than $2000 and to buy his business would be between $250K and $280K). re: #388 New Hampshire Dad

I AM JOE..and I'm mad as Hell.

J F'in K, Wendy's and Lunch.

Case in point: on Friday, the Kerry campaign bus was passing through Newburgh, north of New York, and stopped at the local Wendy's. That's a fast-food chain.

[snip]

Kerry went over to say hi to some marines, who turned out to be Bush supporters and resented the interruption to their lunch. More telling was Teresa Heinz Kerry. She pointed to the picture of the bowl of chilli above the clerk's head: "What's that?" she asked. He explained that it was something called "chilli" and she said she'd like to try a bowl. The Senator also ordered a Frosty, a chocolate dessert. They toyed with them after a fashion, and then got back on the bus.

[snip]

It then emerged that Wendy's had just been an appetiser. The campaign advance team had ordered 19 five-star lunches from the Newburgh Yacht Club for Kerry, Edwards, Affleck and co to be served back on the bus: shrimp vindaloo, grilled diver sea scallops, prosciutto, wrapped stuffed chicken, etc.

re: #328 Ojoe

One explanation in my mind is that Palin has a real faith in the Creator - she has said as much - and this sometimes visibly panics those who have no faith.

If you think about your friends who bash McCain and Palin, do they seem to be people of a deep faith, wether expressed through regular church going or not?

I really do think that there is a very big spiritual battle going on around this election.

What do you think?

Communists ARE Godless, after all.

Ditto, I'm amazed at how fast things are linked and posted. It takes
me forever to write, spell check, preview and post much less link & copy.
Not to mention hoping that what I wrote isn't off topic by the time I get done.
I am in awe of the Master Lizards. (Kind of like Master Plumbers!)

If not voting for Obama makes you "Racist", then not voting for McCain and Palin makes you "Ageist" and "Sexist".

Its an intellectually bankrupt argument.

It's a LIBERAL argumehnt ,, so ,, same thing!

Many thanks for that link - just starting to read it, and came across this:

"Young people and more educated people actually have lower hypnotic subconscious suggestibility thresholds ..." (Para. 3)

That could very well be one explanation for the Joe-the-Plumber 'accident'!

I think B0's constant invasion of his physical opponent's space must come into this - he's always toughing the other, be it in interviews, or be it laying a hand on Joe.

(Gotta read on ...)

re: #393 grumpy_old_soldier

I know that Charles can probably determine the best way to do this, and with the help of our fellow lizards we can complete this mission. All Charles needs to do is ensure that the hamsters keep turning the wheels.

Who will help me help Joe the Plumber show these Marxists that we do not need their help with our American dreams?

Don't forget the gift taxes he would be required to pay - unless there is some tax loophole. (Running very, very slowly today at LGF)

My dear sweet daughter was hypnotized graduation night by the hired entertainment - and her friends told her that she was barking like a dog.

Stage hypnosis is a real phenomenon, but absolutely no "magic" whatever is involved.

There are certain individuals who are natural exhibitionists, and "hams", and if you give them a socially acceptable outlet to act out on it or play "make believe" (eg "hypnotizing" them, in front of a crowd), they'll do so.

Workers of the World were UNITED in their opinion that Marxist gulags sucked--notice how millions of them tried to escape their "workers paradises" including CUBA, a tropical heavenly place until Marxists turned it into a gulag.

Workers of the world FLOCK to the USA for freedom to work & prosper--even without speaking our language or understanding the finer details of our history & constitution.

America is a worker's paradise, unless marxists take over & confiscate your "wealth" and replace your ideas with their marxist maxims.

Anyone got thoughts on a source for bumper stickers from that IAMJOE graphic?

I don't want to get in anyone else's way if it's in progress and obviously there's copyright issues on the graphic, but I want ten, right now.

Click on my name. I have a bumper sticker / T shirt / button store webpage thru Zazzle. If you don't see what you like - let me know and I will make it special for you.

"Er, shouldn't that be 'Speak truth to power'?"

"That's the old edition of the handbook. Now we speak truth to power-tool operators. Joe the Carpenter, Joe the Plasterer, Joe the Electrician … . When you're building utopia, you don't want any builders getting in the way."

I AM sorry my friend, and of course Charles is in California too (as are many lizards with whom I am friends) but, really, how do y'all manage to live - and apparently enjoy it! - in a place with the weird (to me) weather, and the earthquakes, forest fires, mudslides and your State government?
As a relative conservative it would drive me nuts - or nuttier if you rather!

ROTFLMAO................. California is like an exceptionally fine beer, it's an acquired taste, with a bouquet of subtle flavors that can overwhelm the taste buds of the unenlightened and naive. Like a fine cigar, it has to be deeply inhaled drawn across the palate with slow deliberation and allowed to drift slowly out the nasal passages.
