A lot of anti-Obama ads in Los Angeles, putatively to tell Obama to support veteran's benefits, either party or 527.

I really hate people who can't win without stomping out rebuttals and criticism. In this case, its worse -- he's advocating vote stealing but not allowing investigations.

By asking for an independent investigator he's stalling until the election is over. Bastard. (Yes, hermeneutics just said a bad word.)

Reposting from the last thread because I think it's funny/sad:

I thought CBS had gotten as stupid as they could. But no! Fellow Lizards, CBS is fact-checking...whether people who carry signs proclaiming "I am Joe the Plumber" are, in fact, named Joe and work as plumbers.

Once again, ordinary Americans get fact-checked, and Democratic Presidential candidates do not!

This just in: The New York Times just made Michelle Obama fair game

The NY Times attacked Cindy McCain today – which in our opinion makes Michelle Obama fair game in the last two weeks of the campaign.

If the Times thinks it’s fair, or even fun, to attack Cindy for her miscarriages, her addiction to painkillers from chronic nerve pain, and her personal imperfections, then isn’t it fair to investigate Michelle Obama, her Princeton thesis, her opinions on the Clinton Global Initiative in Africa and President Clinton himself, her views on Black Liberation Theology, and whether or not she allowed unrepentant terrorists William Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn to babysit her children?

You don’t have to dig very deep into Michelle’s life to find nasty, mean-spirited, America-hating things. Remember, this is the woman who claims she’s here to fix all of our souls — and the media has ensured we know nothing about her, really. Just like we know nothing about Obama.

If it’s fair to talk about Cindy McCain’s addiction to painkillers, why is it racist to talk about Obama’s admitted drug use — which included cocaine, among other things, while living a mysterious life in New York while at Columbia the media refuses to report on.

We bet, starting Monday, all bets will be off when it comes to Michelle. This NY Time hit on Cindy, plus Michelle’s snack attack at the Waldorf while her husband mocks and attacks average Americans like Joe the Plumber, is the kind of thing that really take the gloves off in terms of response.

Here in AZ we've got a marriage amendment again. It failed last time. Doesn't CA have a marriage amendment too?

My worry, here, is a very slippery amendment that essentially makes ANY amendment void if it doesn't get the vote of 50% of the population -- not 50% of the voters. In this way the left tries to restrict the people from proposing laws.

From David Freddoso's "The Case against Barack Obama"

Intro: Page x

"
Obama has crafted hiself an image as one of those rare reformers who succeeds. ...

Obama has not pursued true reform in any of the offices he has held. He has silently and at times vocally cooperated with Chicago's Democratic Machine to preserve on of the most overtly corrupt political systems in the nation. He maintains his silence now, even though he has the political capital to do something about the problem, because his political allies are the problem. These are the allies who drafted and gave him popular, must pass bills to herd through the state legislature; the allies who openly take credit for making him a senator; the allies who control Chicago's political money. In Washington, his commitment to reform has been no greater -- not even this year, as he runs for office promising "Change" and and "hope."

Yes, we have a #8, the anti ads are obnoxious, and it should pass, cancelling gay marriage.

Interesting issue about the 50%. The initiative process in California is becoming a joke, but then, the legislature is already a joke. Yes, that would effectively shut down the entire initiative process, and of course the paradox is that if it passed, it would be with less than 50% of the population! Don't seem right, ma'm.

At the Palin event in Lancaster, PA she brought out Trig, who was bundle up in a ski-suit baby outfit, then handed him off to a staff member in front of the stage. No one else was up there with her.

New outfit with black boots. She is TINY.

Same old speech she's given the last few days. Nothing controversial happened. Only about 25 protestors outside of the stadium (too early and too chilly for Dems on a Sat AM to get out of bed, I guess). Quite a few Hispanics in the crowd (Lancaster has a large Puerto Rican community).

She stayed about 30 mins to sign autographs. I don't think she ever shakes hands, she's too busy autographing everything they put in front of her.

Tina Fey only wishes she could lick Sarah's boots.

Tina Fey can be a very vicious woman. She has unresolve issues from her teen years. Apparently som people were cruel to her. The movie "Mean Girls " is about that. Obama has unresolved racial identity issues from his youth.
Tina Fey is not running for anything, but Obama is on a voyage of self discovery & would be better off with three time a week analysis, not in the Oval Office.

128 nikis-knight  Sat, Oct 18, 2008 6:08:55pm

So this seems like a good place to put a story. My brother-in-law's girl friend does on-line entertainment gigs for a local county paper. (I'm being vague here). He calls my wife now and then when she has a new episode out, and my wife makes positive comments on the site. I say good for you and that's real exciting and stuff like that.

Then this week he texts and calls her and tells her to check out this great video she put together on Youtube for the paper. They're both real proud of it. My wife watches it, says, "Wow, she looks real nice." She shows me when I get home. It's a "Sarah Palin Barbie girl" parody. I was ready for offensive, but it wasn't, not really. The offensive part was them thinking we would be thrilled with her joining in the press lynch mob.

So I left a comment on the youtube site. Sarcastic, but not overly cruel. "Not funny enough to be humor, not original enough to be commentary. At least you got to use your rhyming dictionary." Showed my wife, and she said, "What are you doing, I still have to interact with these people!" She was right, and I looked for a way to delete it but found none, so I posted an immediate follow-up saying "No, I'm sorry for being harsh, this is well done and you have a good screen presence like on your entertainment focused episodes. Guess this just wasn't meant for me. I wish I could delete my previous comment."

So my brother-in-law follows up with angry phone calls and texts to his sister, my wife, along the lines of "What the F* was your husband doing? I don't consider him family anymore, blah blah blah." She, sister-in-law to someday be, sent me an e-mail saying she was hurt and I replied I was sorry for letting politics mix with family, I shouldn't have posted when I was annoyed, and in the future I would do what I usually do and just keep quiet.

Long and probably boring story short, do you think I was that offensive? And is it just me, or do conservatives tend to shut up to keep the peace a whole lot more than their more enlightened (and touchy) family members?

Blast from the past, or "the day the media discarded the last of their credibility" (about two and a half years ago).

Will Press Put Out Fire on Iran?

Confederate Yankee weighs in on the article's author, Greg Mitchell.

Greg Mitchell, Editor of Editor & Publisher shows himself to be a prime example of exactly what bloggers fear most in the media; a newscrafter, not a newsman, with a quite specific and heavily partisan agenda. He seems terrified that if the public actually looked too closely at how the sometimes tainted product of the news business is manufactured, they might discover it has fewer quality checks than a disposable diaper, and sadly, sometimes ends up smelling much the same.

Moral: we shouldn't be surprised at their attack on the Right in '08. They telegraphed their punch and still hit us.

It wasn't a handful. I went down to the polling place in Columbus and was told the Obama campaign brought in people from all over the country to help out. While I was there, I saw plates from Oklahoma on a van plastered with Obama signs. Van after van went in and out of that place, dropping off predominantly Somalis and other blacks. At least two of the vans were assigned to Ohio State. This went on from morning til night the week of register/vote same day. I don't care enough to watch the local news and see the National Park rangers estimate for the worship session, but yeah, probably. You could easily fit that many from the Arch grounds to the Old Courthouse.

Consider:
*St. Louis, a city of about 400,000, has an African-American majority; East St. Louis is now tiny--about 40,000--and almost entirely African-American
*We have not had a Republican mayor since the 1940s
*We have a TON of unions, all in thrall to the Dems
*Dems ALWAYS win St. Louis, but haven't won the state in a long time
*It was a SPECTACULAR day--sunny, about 65 degrees, at the end of October

So yeah, he had a great backdrop and had a good day. Don't let your heart be troubled. St. Louis is a wonderful city, in its own way, and I'm never leaving, but it is very much unlike the rest of the state.

I don't really see how mentioning illegals or immigration in general helps McCain. His position on amnesty is one reason why he has had so much trouble with the base in the first place.

While that is true, it still makes Obama look bad on that issue and for any Repubs who are mad at McCain about the issue, they will see that Obama is no better and will take steps fast. Remember how the driver's license issue in NY caused big problems for Hillary?

John McCain was cheered by an enthusiastic, predominantly Hispanic audience at Florida International University.

I'm going to play devil's advocate here - If I was a richass elitist staying in a nice hotel in NYC on somebody else's tab, and the whole town thought I was awesome, you bet I'd order the lobster and the champagne. Just this once!

And have you ever seen how that caviar is gathered? Guys work out on boats, and on these factories-on-stilts out in the sea, pulling the stuff up fresh and then processing it right there on the water. I don't know how much of a cut the Iranian .gov could really take from them. They are working people, not all that different from Alaska fishermen.

On the other hand, from a PR standpoint it's pretty stupid to order Iranian anything, as you said. Michelle and Barack probably thought it was tee-hee funny to order something labelled as "Iranian".

I'd have eaten it, but I'd have made damned sure my name wasn't on the tab. :P

Hey Charles, it looks like the I-AM-JOE backlash is gaining momentum. I posted a link to a site I read where the blogger is pissed and vents his spleen. It is a technology blog, which makes it more remarkable.

I suggested it before, why not put a banner or link on the site with a page of I-AM-JOE sites. Start with iowahawk at [Link: iowahawk.typepad.com...]

The profound hippocracy and disrespect the candidate and his media followers have shown Joe and any other dissenter is alarming. That this man is a candidate for the highest office in the nation says very bad things about the party that made him their nominee. That the media acts as his shills, and does his dirty work for him, shows their abdication of responsibility, their moral and ethical corruption at its worst. They can have an opinion, that is fine. Why weren't they weren't parked on Ayers front yard, interviewing him? Is there a reason why no scandal of Obamessiah gets aired?

Maybe its time to show the media just how pissed off we are. The I-AM-JOE groundswell is just the thing. Please help with this.

I want to learn these techniques, if only to be able to more effectively convince people what they have subconsciously absorbed without knowing it! Would probably piss a LOT of people off if they realized how they have been manipulated. Wonder what it is about Lizards that we instinctively block it? Must be scales...
