Shots Allegedly Fired at McCain Campaign Bus

Politics | Mon, Oct 20, 2008 at 7:40:27 am PDT

What will it take for the media to start covering incidents like this? EXCLUSIVE: .22 Gunshot, paint balls fired at McCain / Palin Straight Talk Express.

(Sunday, October 19 - Filed by Mark Williams in Raton, New Mexico with the Stop Obama Tour)  We learned at this morning’s Stop Obama Rally here that the McCain/Palin Straight Talk Express came through town yesterday.  It arrived with a window shattered by a .22 caliber weapon.  It had also been hit by an unknown number of paint balls from a paint ball gun or guns.  There were reportedly no injuries and neither candidate was on board.

One local man who saw the damage and spoke with the McCain/Palin staffers said the attack(s) had occured in southern New Mexico that same day.  The Express is traveling the country independent of the candidates, handing out campaign materials.

29 DistantThunder  Mon, Oct 20, 2008 7:48:36am

Ezra Taft Benson - former secretary of Agriculture, witness to the destructon of Europe and the Soviet purges after WWII.

The Real Cause Of American Prosperity

Why, then, do Americans bake more bread, manufacture more shoes and assemble more TV sets than Russians do? They do so precisely because our government does NOT guarantee these things. If it did, there would be so many accompanying taxes, controls, regulations and political manipulations that the productive genius that is America's would soon be reduced to the floundering level of waste and inefficiency now found behind the Iron Curtain. As Henry David Thoreau explained:

"This government never of itself furthered any enterprise, but by the alacrity with which it got out of its way. IT does not educate. THE CHARACTER INHERENT IN THE AMERICAN PEOPLE HAS DONE ALL THAT HAS BEEN ACCOMPLISHED; AND IT WOULD HAVE DONE SOMEWHAT MORE, IF THE GOVERNMMENT HAD NOT SOMETIMES GO IN ITS WAY. For government is an expedient by which men would fain succeed in letting one another alone; and, as has been said, when it is most expedient, the governed are most let alone by it." (Quoted by Clarence B. Carson, THE AMERICAN TRADITION, p. 100; P.P.S.N., p.171)
In 1801 Thomas Jefferson, in his First Inaugural Address, said:

"With all these blessings, what more is necessary to make us a happy and prosperous people? Still one thing more, fellow citizens - a wise and frugal government, which shall restrain men from injuring one another, which shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it had earned." (Works 8:3)

A bullet hole and paint splatters are absolute evidence of a hateful terrorist crime most likely by Obama supporters. Will Obama condemn it? or will he give a nod, a wink, and a smile and disavow any knowledge of it since he was only 47 years old when it happened.

Will the MSM report it? They had no problem reporting about hearing "kill him" in a McCain rally that no one in attendence could verify.

On the bright side, if they're using .22s and paintballs I think that McCain/Palin supporters have them thoroughly outgunned.

I know you were being facetitious, but of course a .22LR bullet is quite capable of killing someone.

Anyway... I don't see any mention on the "Straight Talk Express" portion of the McCain/Palin website, but I wouldn't necessarily expect them to post something like that anyway.

53 Fat Bastard Vegetarian  Mon, Oct 20, 2008 7:53:47am

Oh, been meaning to mention this...totally forgot.

When BHO was in Roanoke last Friday, I was listening to his speech on the radio, someone yelled something bad about McCain or Palin (was indistinguishable) and O'bama (to his credit) said, "Hey, stop that! That's not true. That's not true."

There. That is the one nice thing I will say about O'bama.

But, then again, perhaps someone yelled out "Islam is NOT a religion of peace!". Not sure.

Covering my bases, just in case. But I am going to give him the BOD on this one.

The difference here is that it's highly unlikely the Republicans who hired this clown had any idea what he was doing. They certainly should have, of course, and I think they're making matters worse by standing by him and claiming the prosecution is politically motivated. Of course it is, but they need to fling this guy under the bus immediately.

New Mexico is a beautiful, wonderful piece of work. If you look at the red/blue map, NM is the one blue in a sea of red. The state govt is quite corrupt... people are going down just now for $$ amounts that make Olmert in Israel look like a rank amateur. We have the per capita richest county in the country (Los Alamos recently passed that county in Connecticut that is always ranked first) and yet we are the bottom of the barrel in statewide per capita income and educational achievement. You can see the effects of the oppression of the patron system and the Democratic party (one formerly high ranking judge I talked to insisted that we just can't ask for any ID, much less a picture id/drivers license at the polls because it "suppresses Democratic vote". Yikes.). Please don't desert us as things are little by little looking up in part because the feds are breaking up the local cartel.

"Mark my words," the Democratic vice presidential nominee warned at the second of his two Seattle fundraisers Sunday. "It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said. 144 DistantThunder  Mon, Oct 20, 2008 8:13:51am

Ezra Taft Benson

A Formula For Prosperity

The principle behind this American philosophy can be reduced to a rather simple formula:

Economic security for all is impossible without widespread abundance. Abundance is impossible without industrious and efficient production. Such production is impossible without energetic, willing and eager labor. This is not possible without incentive.

Of all forms of incentive - the freedom to attain a reward for one's labors is the most sustaining for most people. Sometimes called THE PROFIT MOTIVE, it is simply the right to plan and to earn and to enjoy the fruits of your labor.

This profit motive DIMINISHES as government controls, regulations and taxes INCREASE to deny the fruits of success to those who produce. Therefore, any attempt THROUGH GOVERNMENTAL INTERVENTION to redistribute the material rewards of labor can only result in the eventual destruction of the productive base of society, without which real abundance and security for more than the ruling elite is quite impossible.

It;s from the latest Indiana Jones Movie. He escapes the effects of a nuclear test (like they did in the 50') by hiding in a lead lined Refrigerator....which ended up getting tossed mile away from the potemkin village. Indy emerged without a scratch.

That fridge ranks up there amongst the worst ex deus machina's in movie history.

So they're going after every shred of evidence to get Republicans implicated in voter registration fraud...I really don't think, though, that it amounts to any where near the level of the ACORN frauds...)

Effects of Socialism - Ezra Taft Benson

We have before us currently a sad example of what happens to a nation which ignores these principles. Former FBI agent, Dan Smoot, succinctly pointed this out on his broadcast number 649, dated January 29, 1968, as follows:

"England was killed by an idea: the idea that the weak, indolent and profligate must be supported by the strong, industrious, and frugal - to the degree that tax-consumers will have a living standard comparable to that of taxpayers; the idea that government exists for the purpose of plundering those who work to give the product of their labor to those who do not work. The economic and social cannibalism produced by this communist-socialist idea will destroy any society which adopts it and clings to it as a basic principle - ANY SOCIETY!

213 Ben Hur  Mon, Oct 20, 2008 8:26:02am
“Yeah, I have my papers right here,” he said. “I’m an American citizen. Right here, right here.” With that, he produced a U.S. passport, turned it to the page with his picture on it, and thrust it about an inch from my nose. “Right here,” he said. “In your face.”
Munoz said he owned a small construction business. “I have a license, if you guys want to check,” he said.

Someone asked why Munoz had come to the rally. “I support McCain, but I’ve come to face you guys because I’m disgusted with you guys,” he said. “Why the hell are you going after Joe the Plumber? Joe the Plumber has an idea. He has a future. He wants to be something else. Why is that wrong? Everything is possible in America. I made it. Joe the Plumber could make it even better than me. . . . I was born in Colombia, but I was made in the U.S.A.”

Something about how "we" are going to have a major attack within 6 months (of either the election or the inauguration) and how "they" would need the support of "them" (the people at the rally) since what "they" would do about it would appear to be wrong but would actually be right. He was encouraging the BHO supporters to talk to their neighbors after this attack about how "they" were doing the right thing - trust us.

Suit against God tossed over lack of address

A judge has thrown out a Nebraska legislator's lawsuit against God, saying the Almighty wasn't properly served, because of his unlisted home address. State Sen. Ernie Chambers filed the lawsuit last year seeking a permanent injunction against God.

He said God has made terroristic threats against the senator and his constituents in Omaha, inspired fear and caused "widespread death, destruction and terrorization of millions upon millions of the Earth's inhabitants."

Try to interrupt this (particularly the part in bold)

"I've forgotten more about foreign policy than most of my colleagues know, so I'm not being falsely humble with you.........We're gonna have to make some incredibly tough decisions in the first two years. So I'm asking you now, I'm asking you now, be prepared to stick with us. Remember the faith you had at this point because you're going to have to reinforce us."

"There are gonna be a lot of you who want to go, 'Whoa, wait a minute, yo, whoa, whoa, I don't know about that decision'," Biden continued. "Because if you think the decision is sound when they're made, which I believe you will when they're made, they're not likely to be as popular as they are sound. Because if they're popular, they're probably not sound."

GOTHAM-TO-OHIO VOTE SCAM EYED

Four well-heeled New York Democrats are under investigation by an Ohio prosecutor for setting up a temporary home in the swing state - where two have already cast their ballots - just so that their votes will be counted there, The Post has learned.

The targets of the probe - including the daughter and son-in-law of a New York City real-estate titan, a former New York Sun reporter and a Bank of New York Mellon executive - are connected to Vote From Home, a Manhattan-based political action committee set up to get voters to the polls in Ohio, where residents are allowed to cast ballots 29 days before Election Day, investigators said.

No youtube link yet, but here is the text.
[Link: newsbusters.org...]

Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy."

"I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate," Biden said to Emerald City supporters, mentioning the Middle East and Russia as possibilities.

re: #253 McJenny50

I was just on my home, and listening to Glenn Beck. He was talking about some really weird speech that Joe Biden gave over the weekend.

Antbody else hear this? Considering that both candidates are being briefed by the FBI, it sounds like Biden was speaking out of turn and dropping some hints about the briefings.

"Strengthening" the Patriot Act will be viewed in an entirely different way when it's Obama that's telling us which of our liberties it's going to be necessary for the government to take away.

Can't wait to see Matthews and Olbermann wearing their patriotic arm bands.

Totally OT (especially in light of my above post)

But this really gets to me:

MADGE GETS SON-BURNED

The biological father of Madonna's adopted son said his boy might be "better off" with him in Malawi now that the Material Mom is headed for Splitsville.

"I am still a poor farmer with nothing to offer, but maybe he would be better off back with us," said Yohane Banda, little David Banda's natural dad.

He told The Sun newspaper in London that his natural son shouldn't be in the middle of a messy divorce now that Madonna and Guy Ritchie have announced their plans to part ways.

"This woman, Madonna, told me herself that David was beautiful and made her happy and she promised to take good care of him," Banda said.

A few things bother me.

She adopted an "orphan" whose father is STILL ALIVE.

He is still a "Poor farmer" while she spends enough money on the child in one year to lift his entire village out of poverty forever.

Is it not entirely racist that this white rich woman went baby shopping in Africa and BOUGHT a child from his father?!?

I repeat. Obama is popular. Maybe Biden's got something there.

Ezra Taft Benson

The problem with Socialism's answers to help the poor.

On the surface this may sound heartless and insensitive to the needs of those less fortunate individuals who are found in any society, no matter how affluent. "What about the lame, the sick and the destitute? Is an often-voice question. Most other countries in the world have attempted to use the power of government to meet this need. Yet, in every case, the improvement has been marginal at best and has resulted in the long run creating more misery, more poverty, and certainly less freedom than when government first stepped in. As Henry Grady Weaver wrote, in his excellent book, THE MAINSPRING OF HUMAN PROGRESS:

"Most of the major ills of the world have been caused by well-meaning people who ignored the principle of individual freedom, except as applied to themselves, and who were obsessed with fanatical zeal to improve the lot of mankind-in-the-mass through some pet formula of their own....THE HARM DONE BY ORDINARY CRIMINALS, MURDERES, GANGSTERS, AND THIEVES IS NEGLIGIBLE IN COMPARISON WITH THE AGONY INFLICTED UPON HUMAN BEINGS BY THE PROFESSIONAL 'DO-GOODERS', who attempt to set themselves up as gods on earth and who would ruthlessly force their views on all others - with the abiding assurance that the end justifies the means." (p. 40-1; P.P.N.S., p. 313)

Let me try the speech...I'm Joe Biden (for this example)

"If O'bama is elected, his inexperience is going to challenge those who hate us. We will subsequently be attacked and thousands, maybe millions of Americans may die. If that happens, Barack and I are going to have to make some very difficult decisions. Ones that make the Patriot Act look like the first amendment.

"We'll round up potential enemies, and can not have any dissension in the ranks. We will need your support at our detention camps, not protesters! Do you understand me!?

Now, get out there and vote for O'bama!"

This is why community organizations and anyone else, including political parties, should not be allowed to register voters. If registration were only permitted at government offices (library, DMV, post office, Board of Elections, etc.) and proof of both residence and citizenship were required, we would have nearly zero voter registration fraud.

Absolutely.

Here's how its done in the UK:
All who pay council tax are obviously on a register. They get sent electoral registration forms, which they send back.
Pay no council tax - go and show that you are on income support/benefit: that'll be cross-checked with state benefit office. Not a good idea to lie to them ...
Student? register at home.

Thing is - if you register, you have to give your address.
If you haven't been billed yet for taxes, you will!
If you haven't got an address - tough cookies.

Not that many fraudulent voters registered here.

Also amazes me people who've been here for years with less than a thousand, then they post (ProUSA! Good one!) and I wonder, who the hell is that, and why don't they post more?

Well, there are those of us who click over and read the referenced article, which takes time, or who are otherwise 100 - 200 comments behind the moving front of the thread (because I read all the comments). Witness where my response to your comment 64 has wound up.

If I post a serious response to a comment, or a point I think is worth making about the topic, being 100 comments behind, my comment is frequently no longer relevant at the point in the thread where it winds up being posted.

And if I post a response that I think is funny (and appropriate), it has usually been posted five times by other lizards by the time I read 20 more comments.

Ezra Taft Benson-former secretary of Agriculture 1968

How Can Present Socialistic Trends Be Reversed?

This brings up the next question: How is it possible to cut out the various welfare-state features of our government which have already fastened themselves like cancer cells onto the body politic? Isn't drastic surgery already necessary, and can it be performed without endangering the patient? In answer, it is obvious that drastic measures ARE called for. No half-way or compromise actions will suffice. Like all surgery, it will not be without discomfort and perhaps even some scar tissue for a long time to come. But it must be done if the patient is to be saved, and it can be done without undue risk.

Obviously, not all welfare-state programs currently in force can be dropped simultaneously without causing tremendous economic and social upheaval. To try to do so would be like finding oneself at the controls of a hijacked airplane and attempting to return it by simply cutting off the engines in flight. It must be flown back, flown back, lowered in altitude, gradually reduced in speed and brought in for a smooth landing. Translated into practical terms, this means that the first step toward restoring the limited concept of government should be to freeze all welfare-state programs at their present level, making sure that no new ones are added. The next step would be to allow all present programs to run out their term with absolutely no renewal. The third step would involve the gradual phasing-out of those programs which are indefinite in their term. In my opinion, the bulk of the transition could be accomplished within a ten-year period and virtually completed within twenty years. Congress would serve as the initiator of this phase-out program, and the President would act as the executive in accordance with traditional constitutional procedures.

Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy."

Yes, there will be an immediate test of Obama's international policy. Those that hate the US need to know where Obama stands. It will most likely be a large attack on Israel. This will simultaneously expose Obama's position on Islam, on Iran, on Palestinians, and most importantly, on his support for Israel. Obama owes a lot of terrorists for his success and he will remember it.

economic crisis plunging the U.S. into a recession, plus (the Brits

unwillingness to pursue an expensive WoT -- all of this adds up to what
the Beeb refers to as "adventurism" by rogue states (ie, N. Korea,

to act out their "Hate U.S.A. policies" figuring that the U.S. is weak

To borrow a phrase from McCain, "My Friends," we are witnessing a Socialist Revolution with a very ugly racial undertone.
So far it has largely been nonviolent, because they see themselves succeeding. If things do not go their way on 11/4, I think that wide spread violence is probable.

We really need to hear from the RNC and the NM authorities about this, either to confirm it or put it to rest.
If true, the use of at least two different weapons would indicate a group of perpetrators rather than an individual acting alone.
A possible scenario is that one moonbat spotted the bus, called his buds, and then they followed it, passed it, and set an ambush.

That fridge ranks up there amongst the worst ex deus machina's in movie history.

It did say "lead lined"
Now why they made everything else out of plastic in 'small town America" and put a lead lined fridge in the houses, I don't know.

re: #321 realwest

From the article:

Vote From Home is registered to the East 82nd Street brownstone of Heather Halstead, daughter of Halstead Properties founder Clark Halstead Jr. She and her husband, NYU grad Marc Gustafson, are among those under scrutiny.

A subsequent Post review of election-board and other records found the New Yorkers involved are:

* Joel Speyer, 39, a New York CPA who lives in Brooklyn and works for Mellon bank here. He owns the Brownlee Avenue house and rented it to Vote From Home in June for an undisclosed period for $2,500, Federal Election Commission papers show. Speyer is a registered New York voter and cast a ballot in February's primary. He re-registered in Ohio Sept. 1, and last week voted absentee.

* Halstead, 34, and Gustafson, 31, both longtime New York voters. Halstead last cast a ballot in the state's February primary. Gustafson voted in Manhattan in 2007. Both requested Ohio absentee ballots.

* Daniel Hemel, 23, a Harvard grad and former Sun reporter from Scarsdale, Westchester County. He registered to vote in Ohio Oct. 1, casting a ballot the same day. Hemel later returned to Oxford University in England, where he and other Vote From Home workers attend as Marshall Scholars.

* Also under investigation are three daughters - Jennifer, 20, Tania, 21, and Michael Anne, 24 - of Brooklyn resident David R. Kyle. He is CEO of a firm that raises money for schools in India and is one of two major financial backers of the PAC. The three women, whom records show most recently lived in the Washington, DC, area and Connecticut, have requested absentee ballots.

The Brownlee 13 also includes a Cornell University grad from Los Angeles and a Marshall Scholar from Arizona who have both cast their ballots.

"We've done nothing wrong," Halstead told The Post Friday when contacted at her New York apartment. "It's a nonissue. It's all been settled."

Joel Speyer's name rings a bell, but the rest don't. Maybe it's because there's a Tishman Speyer real estate company, and you've got a Halstead Properties connection. Probably nothing to that connection other than my recalling property firms.

Good point. I think, in view of their fear and hatred of "the American Empire" they don't stop to think that some sort of empire or hegemonous state is inevitable, unless they really want a return to the chaos that existed circa AD 660 - 1350. With some of these Brits it think it is plain old jealousy -- in a fit of extreme virtue, they threw away their Empire, and they don't think anyone else should have one. Of course the joke is, we don't have an empire -- unless Puerto Rico, Guam and a few islands in Micronesia make us raging imperialists. What we have become is the world's cop.

Here is the amusing thing. Like the story about the woman being beaten with the campaign sign, liberals refuse to believe this and blow it off because it was not written about in a mainstream newspaper. This despite actual photographic evidence and documents. Yet, 9-11 conspiracy theories are taken at face value and in fact they blame the media in part for the cover up.

I've tried to discuss the assault story at a non political site I frequent, but I was practically laughed off. This from a site that has a whole category dedicated to conspirecy posts. Until a "mainstream" news organization picks this up, it never happened.
