Reuters: Racism Everywhere, Yet Sporadic and Isolated

Politics | Thu, Oct 23, 2008 at 2:40:32 pm PDT

The mainstream media are absolutely relentless with this overblown nonsense: Ugly election incidents show lingering US racism.

Now there’s an unbiased headline.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Reuters) - Two weeks before an election that could install the first black U.S. president, scattered ugly incidents have reflected a deep residue of racism among some segments of white America.

A cardboard likeness of Barack Obama was found strung from fishing wire at a university, the Democratic presidential nominee’s face was depicted on mock food stamps, the body of a black bear was left at another university with Obama posters attached to it.

Though the incidents are sporadic and apparently isolated, they stirred up memories of the violent racial past of a country where segregation and lynchings only ended within the last 50 years.

So let’s recap. In the world of Reuters, a tiny number of scattered, sporadic, isolated incidents proves that there is a “deep residue of racism” among white Americans.

How do they look at themselves in the mirror after writing such garbage?

Besides the lack of contrasting incidents against McCain/Palin, the article also engages in typical MSM behavior by failing to provide enough information to follow up on the supposed events. I get the feeling that the press, pounding the "racism" meme in the hope of driving people to Obama through "white guilt", is going to have this backfire in their faces.

Thirty years ago or more, sure, there was plenty to be ashamed of in the treatment of black Americans. But with the billions spent on all kinds of programs, the affirmative action effort and the current success of black politicians, athletes, entertainers and business people, "white guilt" just doesn't sell anymore.

It once resonated with me but it faded out long, long ago.

There aren't any organizations in existence called the Congressional White Caucus, or the National Association for the Advancement of White People, nor is there such a thing as White Entertainment Television.

However, if you substitute descriptor words in the above non-existant organizations there are some actual racist organizations that actually exist. Racism certainly does exist in America but to describe the perpetrating segment as a "deep residue" and as being "white" isn't very accurate.

Two people have quoted this...

How do they look at themselves in the mirror after writing such garbage?

...without listing who posted it. I'm too lazy to scroll up and find the original poster, but my answer is that they look at themselves quite well in that mirror.

They are leading the sheeple toward the promised land. What's a few lies and distortions here and there along the way?

It's all for the greater good. Their view of the greater good, that is.

Carey Gillam has been writing about racism for years.

News American Indian colleges embrace native heritage
By Carey Gillam

Mon, 20 Jan 2003
Excerpted from: American Indian colleges embrace native heritage: AOL

LAWRENCE, Kansas, Jan 15

(Reuters) - In old photos, the American Indian boys wear military-style jackets, while the little girls wear simple dresses and aprons. An iron-barred shack serves to punish those who try to flee.

The scenes testify to the history of the Haskell Indian Nations University, an institution founded in1884 by the U.S. government to indoctrinate American Indian children into the ways of the white man, stripping them of all things Indian.

In treaties dating back to the late 1700s, the U.S. government took millions of acres of Indian land in exchange for promises to provide education, health care and other services to American Indians.

A PAINFUL PAST

Haskell was one of a handful of "boarding schools" for American Indians founded in the late 1800s by the U.S. government. Dubbed the United States Indian Industrial Training School, Haskell opened in 1884 with 22students.

School leaders cut off the children's hair, discarded their Indian clothing and refused to let them speak in native languages or practice their religions. The students were not allowed to leave the school for family visits for at least four years and were drilled daily in "white man" ways.

The assimilation effort came after the U.S. government seized Indian lands amid westward white migration across the United States. School historians say some Indian families sent their children willingly to the school, believing it would help them, while others lost their children to government round-ups.

Of those original schools, Haskell is the only one operating today. Its transformation took place slowly, gaining steam in the 1960s and '70s along with Indian activism."The idea was to take the Indian out of the soul without killing the man," said Dr George Godfrey, national programme leader for multi-cultural alliances at the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

"Yet...out of this has developed an immense pride and a tool for pressing on with issues important to Indians," Godfrey said. "Haskell and these other schools are training native American peoples who will be the future policy makers and leaders throughout the country."

(Additional reporting by

Maggie Koerth)

(In the complete article it is clear that Haskell is now operating in a positive way that supports the Native heritages. The Painful Past was highlighted as an introduction into what Native people suffered in boarding schools around the turn of the 20th century when it became clear that it was more cost effective to assimilate Indians rather than exterminate them. And has the expertise, I guess.

Carey Gillam is a Midwest correspondent for Reuters America. She writes daily on various aspects of the food industry - from farmer to grocery store shelves - including extensive coverage of genomics and other biotech advancements for key crops, such as oilseeds, corn, cotton and canola. She also has written for American Banker, the Atlanta (GA) Business Journal, Kansas City Business Journal, Wodlinger Broadcasting Corporation and The Journal-Herald in Shawnee, KS. In 1991 she received a first-place investigative award, "Heart of America Award," in a competition between Kansas and Missouri print media. Gillam has a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Kansas and is a graduate of the National Institute for Computer-Assisted Reporting.

Couldn't find a photo, though, to see how she looks at herself in the mirror...

Most university racists stunts are propagated by leftists who feel they aren't getting enough attention. They perpetuate their own race crimes to reap rewards. Democrats would like nothing better than to keep a poor, underfunded lower class going to fuel their politics.

The hidden agenda there is the real racism in America. Unquestioning members of the Democratic party.

Any media that fails to account for the many hoaxes is either simplifying things too much or has ulterior motives.

OT: Socialism rocks.

SAN FELIX, Venezuela (Reuters) – Despite having some of the world's largest energy reserves, Venezuela is increasingly struggling to maintain basic electrical service, a growing challenge for leftist President Hugo Chavez.

Shoddy electrical service is now one of Venezuelans' top concerns, according to a recent poll, and may be a factor in elections next month for governors and mayors in which Chavez allies are expected to lose key posts, in part on complaints of poor services.

Keep spending your ill-gotten oil money on Russian military equipment, and buying influence in your backyard, Thugo. Oil is down to $67.84/bl, down from $147 earlier this year.

Hot Air's explanation....

As for the reversed/upside-down B, all I can tell you is that I got this from a source close to Ashley, who assured me that she wanted to go public (it was also on her Twitter page) and that the photo came directly from her. It could have gotten reversed on the computer, or the attacker may have had her on the ground with her head upside-down in relation to his.

Yep.... I strive for, "that they all be one." and "where there is contention we have no such practice" (from memory).
I put aside my opinion before it causes a rift. The oneness is preferable to being right, causing a stumbling over color of something is damning.

re: #119 Nuclear Ninja

OT: Socialism rocks.

Keep spending your ill-gotten oil money on Russian military equipment, and buying influence in your backyard, Thugo. Oil is down to $67.84/bl, down from $147 earlier this year.

Also, according to a Times of London story earlier in the month, Venezuelan oil production is down 80% from last year at this time, with most of that loss in the last six months. Overall production is down to approximately 17% of what it was before Hugo nationalized everything.

Also according to the Times story, Chavez pulled what I recognize as the classic caudillo trick of putting the officials who had been "overseeing" the commercial producers on his government's behalf (i.e., collecting the mordida to prevent "interference") in charge of operations. And being the unlettered thugs they are, they quickly learned the hard way that intimidating an oil company into forking over protection money, and running said oil company yourself, are two very different things.

Couple this with the drop in per-barrel price (from $145+ a few weeks ago to $65 and dropping now), and Venezuela's economy is about to take a major hit.

I wonder how much of the military hardware Hugo ordered has been delivered- but not yet paid for?

The more he has that he still owes on, the more likely it is he'll go to war to get the money to pay the bill. With Brazil, and all those newly-discovered offshore fields that he has already claimed are "part of Venezuela's reserves", No. 1 on his hit parade.

cheers

You'll notice that at the DrudgeReport website, after the headline, there is an ellipsis followed by the word "Developing..." The DrudgeReport is like a wire service -- it prints out breaking news -- that's raw and unprocessed info, typically a police report, which may or may not prove to be verifiable at a later date...(there are many, many hoaxes and pranks which take place and are recorded by the local police department --you must wait to see if/when charges are...). Again, every story "fresh off the wires" is taken for granted to be "suspicious". It's the very nature of the medium...

Just look at how European fans act towards Black and Latin American soccer players and compare that to American sports. Oh, they'll thrown snowballs at Santa in Philly, but they wouldn't throw bananas at McNabb there, over in the EU the soccer fans do just that to black players routinely.

Funny how they don't do articles on sexism now that Hillary's out of the race. Funny how they don't do articles on ageism with Sen. McCain still in the race.
No front page stories on liberals photoshopping McCain photos with monkeys crapping on his head, but an Obama effigy on campuses noted for their libtard hoaxings, is supposed to cause concern.
