Someone sent me an email to my university account (I am in the MBA program at the Univ of Minnesota), telling me to go to some website to support Obama. I almost replied, telling her what I thought about Obama, but saw it was a gmail account. Was worried about the same thing, so just ignored it. My questions is, did someone at the university send the email addresses of students to the Obama campaign?

I've worked around lawyers. This is not a friendly, avuncular message; when a lawyer hints he's got his eye on you, it's a good idea to contact your own attorney. Lawyers are not playful people.
