Another Biden Meltdown, Another TV Station Banned

Politics | Mon, Oct 27, 2008 at 1:00:54 pm PDT

Now the Obama campaign has banned CBS3 in Philadelphia for asking Joe Biden tough questions.

At this rate, soon the only place that will be allowed to interview Joe Biden will be the Daily Kos.

LA Times t layoff 75 Staffers
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Newsroom staffing at the Los Angeles Times is shrinking again.

Newspaper spokeswoman Nancy Sullivan said Monday that 75 staffers are being laid off in the latest round of cuts.

She declined further comment and would not disclose how many journalists will remain at the paper.

The Times, which is owned by Chicago-based Tribune Co., reduced its overall staff by 250 people last summer, including 150 from the newsroom.

Editor Russ Stanton blamed the cutbacks on the economic slowdown.

Also just heard on local radio that Alaska Sen. Stevens was found guilty.

Sen Obama's chicken. He sets the example for ruthlessly crushing dissent via his flunkies while he stays squeaky clean. It's everywhere and won't get less if he ever gets power.

I think blogs should start to associate his effort with George Orwell's 1984

19 lawhawk  Mon, Oct 27, 2008 1:08:16pm

It's more than banning, it's trying to get the interview spiked from the station's website so that the damage can be minimized.

This is the kind of chilling of dissent that the left was busy frothing furiously when Bush sought to protect the nation from terrorists. Now, we're seeing these leftists engage in all manner of pressure tactics to chill dissent and so completely manage the message that they're undermining the rights of the people to know who they're about to vote for.

45 deanayer  Mon, Oct 27, 2008 1:15:08pm

I think I understand whats happening here. 3 things:

1. The media have found out very late in the game that if they want to ask a tough question from the democratic ticket they only have the balls to ask Joe about it because its racist and mean and erratic and shrill etc. to ask The Obama directly.

2. Because it looks like The Obama has it sewn up the media can try to scrape together the shreds of their tattered reputation by appearing to "get tough" in the eleventh hour after they have carried the water for the last two years.

3. The latest round of numbers are out and the media has lost ad dollars and revenue etc. etc. and people are getting fired because you cant make it serving just a liberal crowd you need the whole country to buy your rag so looking "fair" lessens the alienation on the right and keeps viewers tuned in and/or buying your rag.

of course in all 3 cases its too little too late.

Palin (or at least her staff) have outsmarted Biden yet again. Here's an interview she gave over the weekend:

[Link: www.kcci.com...]

She was gracious, charming, and clear -- no hissy fits, no insulting the reporter.

At the end, the reporter pointed out that she had to submit her subjects to the campaign before being granted an interview. Given Biden's experience vs. Palin's, this is certainly fair -- Sarah Palin is still getting up to speed, and the press owes her a break. I'll bet Biden is wishing right now that he had a similar policy.

WASHINGTON (AP) - The ATF says it has broken up a plot to assassinate Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and shoot or decapitate 102 black people in a Tennessee murder spree.
In court records unsealed Monday, agents said they disrupted plans to rob a gun store and target an unnamed but predominantly African-American high school by two neo-Nazi skinheads.

So does the Chicago Slum Times... The link in question is an article from columnist Lynn Sweet. Her lead...

"With Barack Obama's lead growing and John McCain's path to the White House shrinking, speculation is growing about who will serve in an Obama administration as Obama's transition team works behind the scenes."

(Left this comment over at the Brietbart.tv link. We'll see if the publish it...)

Obama is the ultimate Manchurian candidate... Let's ponder shall we?

1. Obama and Clinton were the two final choices during the DNC in Denver. In terms of true politcal savvy, experience (or whatever you want to call it), there's no question that Hillary outmatched Obama by a long shot. Plus Clinton won the popular vote amongst delegates by a signifigant margin. So why did Obama get the nomination? Simple. Ask Mrs. Clinton how it feels to lose a job to someone less experienced. This is affirmtive action in all of it's ugly glory people. If you're a Hillary supporter or just someone who feels strongly about women's rights, how in the World could you vote for Oabama? Clinton got screwed big time.

2. Let's say that instead of Barack Obama, it was a junior Senator from Chicago named Brian Olson with the exact same tenure and track-record excecpt for one thing... he was white. Do you think Brian Olson would get the nomination over Hillary? Be honest.

2a. If it was Hillary Clinton vs. John Edwards for the presidential nomination, who do you think would get the nod?

2b. How come Hillary didn't even get the VP pick? An Obama/Clinton ticket would have been a formbidable opponent.

3. What the idiots who control the Democrat Party didn't realize is that they inadvertently blew out of the water, this notion that America is a pre-deominantly racist country. How? By showing that there's actually an advantage in being a young black male. Don't belieive me? Go look up some of former democratic VP nominee Geraldine Ferraro's comments regarding Obama and his nomination.

4. Hope? Hope is not a plan.

5. Change? Tell me one policy or idea of Obamas that's different from Jimmy Carters...

6. Joe Biden? Are you freak'n kidding me? He's the only guy dumb enough to latch on to this ticket. He supposedly, the "foreign affairs" genius of the ticket. Really? Please go look up his track record. Almost every decision he's made over the years concerning foreign affairs has been off the mark by a least a mile.

7. So here we have a candidate with no experieince and no record of achievement (zero, zilch, nada) during his years in the Senate who's got verified ties to some real sketchy people (UN-reformed terrorists, financial crooks, community organziations being investigated for voter fraud). Are you really gonna do it?

Sure it would be cool to elect the first African-American president, but what price are you willing to pay? Ask yourself.

163 jester6  Mon, Oct 27, 2008 1:41:20pm

re: #110 CIA Reject

Not uprising at all. ATF, like another other bureaucracy knows who it's friends are. With all the attention paid to charges of arson, CS gas poisoning, and evidence destruction people over looked one aspect everyone agreed on.

Before Clinton was elected ATF looked at the evidence they had on the Davidians and decided a raid was not warranted. After the election, sensing an opportunity to become a more important federal agency, high level career people at ATF reviewed at the same evidence and decided a raid was warranted.

The raid, named Operation "Showtime", was scheduled to take place a few days before a major appropriations hearing in the House where the brass was going to do one of those "look at all these evil guns on the table" press conferences.

I don't doubt ATF should have passed this info on to the FBI. But, ATF has long been treated as a red headed step child under Republican administrations. I am sure the person who made the decision not to pass the baton decided that a possible handslap in exchange for repositioning the agency under the Obama administration was a good gamble.

ATF disrupts skinhead plot to assassinate Obama

WASHINGTON (AP) - The ATF says it has broken up a plot to assassinate Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and shoot or decapitate 102 black people in a Tennessee murder spree.
In court records unsealed Monday, agents said they disrupted plans to rob a gun store and target an unnamed but predominantly African-American high school by two neo-Nazi skinheads.

(also saw this comment over at the Breitbart.tv site when I posted my comment. This guy was responding to some lib named Roxie. He nailed it.)

Roxie,

Forgive the choppiness of this I wanted to address each of your comments as they were written. The Democrats have had control over both houses of congress for the last two years and have done nothing. Prior to that, they managed to block any meaningful reform proposed this administration including oversight of Freddie and Fannie. Congress voted overwhelmingly to go to war including many democrats not to mention Gen. Powell (who is an Obama supporter and made the case for it at the UN). Spend about ten seconds looking into what Fannie and Freddie were doing and who was pushing it and you will find Democrats fingerprints all over this mess financially. In addition, take a minute and speak to those working on/for Wall Street and ask them how many folks are holding back or pulling out of the markets for fear of an Obama victory. They dont want the sh@t taxed out of their money so they put it elsewhere for now. You help the poor by creating jobs. You create jobs by helping business. You help business by lowering taxes and making it more attractive for them to come or stay in the United States. Bush doesnt move business out of our country, businesses do because Unions have driven up our cost to manufacture, environmentalists have made it impossible to do anything and taxes are too high. Giving others money is welfare. That money is not the governments, it is the peoples. Taxing others to give to others is socialism. Help the poor by creating jobs, not by giving them a handout. Take a minute and read Jimmy Carters platform, compare it to Obama’s, then tell me how the poor, or the country did under that administration. Oh, by the way if there is only a rich and the poor who are the 95% of taxpayers getting the so called tax cut?

Allow me to clear up the "Socialism" / "Spread The Wealth Around" and "Redistribute Wealth questions."

Obama claims that too much of the wealth in this country is concentrated with 1% of the Country that are called "The Rich". Remember, his tax plan will "Help 98% of the County", and "put more wealth with the middle class."

Well here is what WIKI, (a right wing hit machine of course....not!) has to say about the tenants of Socialism:

Socialists mainly share the belief that capitalism unfairly concentrates power and wealth among a small segment of society that controls capital and creates an unequal society. All socialists advocate the creation of an egalitarian society, in which wealth and power are distributed more evenly,

Now where are they going to fit Obama's picture on this banner?

Indeed, he is unbelievably arrogant, even by the standards of a professional politician.

He's a verbal bully.

My big problem with him is that he appears to be one of those "know it alls" who would refuse to take advice from those who really do know more than he does, or even worse, ostracize them.

People like that pretty quickly find themselves surrounded by sycophants and ass-kissers, and if its someone running the country, that becomes everyone's problem.

The "socialism" charge seems to have hit a raw nerve with the Big O and Little Joe. They start blustering and threatening...but can't quite bring themselves to just come out and deny it.

I believe this is the key message to keep front and center over the next week: Obama is a socialist who wants to redistribute wealth. He wants to deprive those who have been successful and those striving for success in order to "spread their wealth" to those who have done nothing.

This is an important theme to harp on in the event of an Obama win, as well - every single piece of legislation, every speech, every action should be met with the challenge, "So, how is this NOT socialism?"

If there is one thing the American people simply will not stand for, it is being lied to. They need to be shown that Obama is a liar.

However, we have to be realistic about the racial strife we're in for. White supremacy in America is nothing to sniff at. These are basically people who think the nazis and KKK were pussies. I predicted back when Obama's nomination was secured that haters on both side would regard this as a call to action. Don't count on things returning to normal for awhile, and when it does it will be the new normal.

everyone in the Republican party

Here's your real problem. You have an assessment of this many people that you haven't met but we're the ones "in our dreams"? The Democratic Party is the one with long history of KKK membership and anti-African activities. The Democratic Party is the one with the Senator in the KKK.

I have been involved in pro-African rights since I was twelve, with considerable alienation from my family who were Democrats.

How easy it would be for you if your victims were evil. Then you could feel righteous and pious when you cheat them, disenfranchise them, and effectively enslave them. There are many good non-Republicans, but it seems less likely that you are one of them.

I should clarify my last response. I am not afraid of all conservative being rounded up and sent to re-education centers. I don't think there will be a lurch to the left--rather a distinct but gradual drift. I do see free speech being controlled a la the Fairness Doctrine. I do see blogs like this being tightly regulated, and so on.

Socialism is as much a theology as any other religion, except the state is the deity. The only way socialism can ever work is if everyone--and I mean everyone--is on the same ideological page. Dissent is not tolerated--how could it be if we are all working for same common goal--the public good. Anyone who dares speak against the noble aspirations of the state is stupid, or evil or both. If they cannot be cajoled to change their way of thinking, they must either be silenced or eliminated. This is where I see us going.

Americans should not only fear his hatred of Capitalism, his Socialist leanings, his Anti-American friends, but the fact that he thinks that the Constitution wasn't a good document because it is so stagnant, and only limits Governmental power. He wants the Constitution not only protect our liberty and freedom from Government, but to also tell the American people what they must do!

The SCOTUS reps he appoints won't only interpret law differently, they are going to re-educate interperet the purpose for the Constitution.

PA daily reports that Gaza residents are randomly calling American homes trying to convince Americans to support Barack Obama for president

The following is the story in the PA daily:

"23 year old [Palestinian] Ibrahim Abu Jayyab sits by the computer in the Nusairat refugee camp [in the Gaza Strip] trying to call American citizens, in order to convince them to vote for the Democratic candidate for president, Barack Obama...
Most of the Palestinians feel hatred towards USA, whose administrations have always stood by Israel...

Abu Jayyab's idea is to make telephone calls to American citizens through Internet sites that allow making free calls... in order to use them [to make phone calls] for the campaign supporting Obama. Abu Jayyab says: We dial random numbers and try to call people without knowing their identity or their affiliation...

He said that a large number of Palestinians dislike their activity... [those] who do not see any difference between the American politicians, because of the hostility that they feel towards America. But his hope is that their activity will have some impact [in support of Obama]."

I spent a couple hours researching yesterday.

If you are looking for an evil black gun and you are handy you might want to look at this guys:

Del-Ton Inc.

The sell AR-15 kits with all the parts except the lower receiver - the part with the serial number - in the mid-400s. Lower receivers are available for a little over a hundred. I think the lower needs to be shipped to a licensed gun dealer.

If you start getting into heavy barrels, chrome lined barrels and weaver rail hand guards and other upgrades you can end up well over a grand.

If you are short cash you can buy the lower - which is legally the same as buying a gun - and buy the rest of the gun later. AR15s have basically become Erector sets for adults.

FAIRNESS DOCTRINE:

The purpose of the fairness doctrine when 1st written was to allow equal time to opposing viewpoints based on the fact that (a) the airwaves were owned by the Public and (b) limited by radio bandwidth. The thought was that since there is a limited amount of radio waves to transmit on, those that are being used should best reflect the populace they are to represent. ie: Since you could only have X amount of opinions based on that you run out of radio wave, you should have opposing views on one frequency to make sure the most opinions are covered. The "people" rented the public owned radio waves to the corporations. Then it made sense.

However, with the invention of Digital radio waves, this all changed. With digital, the "radio waves" are now infinite. Thus, the major concern towards the Fairness Doctrine (that all viewpoints have the ability to be heard) is no longer a factor. With an infinite Digital band, all viewpoints COULD have their own "frequency" and thus, there is no need for the Fairness Doctrine.

Thus, the major concern towards the Fairness Doctrine (that all viewpoints have the ability to be heard) is no longer a factor. With an infinite Digital band, all viewpoints COULD have their own "frequency" and thus, there is no need for the Fairness Doctrine.

I think I just saved the Federal Government, and interest groups millions of dollars in legal fees. I'll take 100,000 and be very happy.

Nope. Just looking for basic home protection and self defense.

Would like a bit of history, though. Would like to own one day an M-1, M1903, Martini-Henry, Krag-Jorgenson, and/or SMLE.

M1 - buy from the ODCMP. The good old days are gone, however...my beater M1 cost me $250, but it was from President Bill "Gun Ban" Clinton.
M1903 - my favorite rifle. Mine is from the last of the '03s at Remington (12/41).
Martini-Henry - expensive to feed
Krag - expensive (even the common long rifle), but SMOOTH. Careful in shooting some of them.
SMLE - second greatest battle rifle of all time behind the M1. Get one. Mine came from Ireland new in the grease from 1953...

re: #243 WrathofG-d

I understand all of that, but you know as well as I do that their desire to institute the Fairness Doctrine has everything to do with squelching conservative talk radio.

That is a benefit of being a conservative who wants to engage, and be engaged, by the other side. I want to be challenged. It makes one a better debator. Besides, I know I am right.

If you are sheltered, either by choice or by a lapdog media, you aren't able to handle aggressive interviewers then. You are used to "yes people" surrounding you.

just imagine these light weights trying to stand up to pootin, dinner jacket,
etc.

re: #241 calcajun

I wouldn't worry too much about average run of the mill pump action shotguns or revolvers being banned immediately. I would expect them to re-up the assault weapon ban from the 1990s.

If you are not looking for a rifle or a semi-auto shotgun, the only impact on you might be the size of the magazine. The AW ban limited new civilian semi-auto magazines to ten rounds and the price of pre-ban mags went through the roof.

If you are not looking for a pretty weapon try looking for a used weapon at a chain sporting good store like Gander Mountain. I recently bought a beat up SIG226 for $220. Lots of cosmetic dings. It was downright ugly and priced to reflect it. A new one would run between $700 and $800. Unlike buying from a non-dealer at a gun show you can take it back if it does not work.

Although this did not look like a used police gun, Gander Mountain often buys whole blocks of guns when police departments upgrade their weapons. They are usually cosmetically challenged. But the ugliness and the law of supply and demand work in your favor for that particular gun.

Condition is everything, and I like mine. It's a Finnish rework M39 on an Imperial Russian receiver. Go for the Finnish M39 if you can find one.

;)

I also have a nice minty Polish M44 carbine from the '50s.

Joe Biden simply denies everything -- even when it's true. Of course, he never bothers to attempt to explain how he can deny the truth; he has a hissy fit and moves on. He is a lying sack of crap.

Biden denied the political party Ayers held for Obama in the Ayers home -- a fact.
Biden denied that Obama said he would meet uncondtionally with Ahmadinejad -- a fact.
Biden denied that the Obama campaign paid ACORN $800,000 -- a fact.
Biden denied that he said "no coal plants in the United States" -- a fact.
Now, he denies paying money to his family members -- a fact.

re: #248 rightymouse

I understand all of that, but you know as well as I do that their desire to institute the Fairness Doctrine has everything to do with squelching conservative talk radio.

Not only that. It's aimed at squelching the upcoming spike in television attacks on the Democrats. Comedians don't make money haranguing the losers and underdogs - it isn't funny. They go after the ones holding power.

The recent spate of SNL skits skewering the Dems isn't some epiphany. It's simply setting the table for the anticipated Democratic administration to come, and preparing the fodder that will be their bread and butter for the next four years.

You can be certain that the FD will be applied to such shows with the claim that they are now suddenly found to be partisan, and must provide airtime to the opposition - an impossible task that will simply result in the removal of all political speech from the airwaves.

The Internet will be the next target. The previous poster makes a good point that the arguments for the Fairness Doctrine don't apply here, but they've already got McCain-Feingold to build on. I predict that there will suddenly be a "need" to "enforce" M-F in an attempt to shut down selected websites and make it onerous and expensive to run any featuring political content.

There are forces arrayed worldwide against such censorship, but there will be a full-court press now to shut this annoyance down. Too many mouths, too many eyes, too many lies exposed for all to see.

Expect user taxes on the Internet, too. Followed by claims that since the government taxes it, the government must regulate it.

You heard it here first.

Well no one can tell what's going on in this interview since this idiot "Gossip" lady cut Biden's reactions up into little two second splices, removing all questions and any meaning that can be derived from this. I'd like to see the actual interview.

And Biden did not have a "meltdown" in that other interview either. He handled those fringe, bizarre questions fine.

264 Mr. Sandman  Mon, Oct 27, 2008 4:26:41pm

And about this banning rhetoric, the McCain campaign has a history of banning coverage from any reporter who writes pieces they deem critical, or asks questions they don't like. For instance, how about this bizarre occurrence at a press conference:

He points to the reporter, she states her name and affiliation, and he bellows "Who ELSE has a question?" How, shall I say, erratic. It turns out this treatment was due to an article from this reporter McCain read that he did not like.

More unjustifiable rage from McCain on getting a perfectly reasonable question:

Finally, lets not forget that McCain boycotted CNN for some time, canceling his Larry King interview, because his inept spokesperson got asked fair, but tough questions:

They were not "fringe" or "bizarre," and he handled them by lying and contradicting his own previous statements.

269 Tigger2005  Tue, Oct 28, 2008 2:25:33am

The McCain campaign is under siege by the MSM, which has taken boosterism for Obama to unprecedented, breathtaking heights. Hardly surprising that McCain has gotten pissed off about it. Meanwhile, Obama and Biden attempt to silence the few media people who actually do their jobs and actually ask them tough questions.

Your attempt at equivalence is pathetic.
