8-Year Old Obama Kid: 'I Want a President I Can Be Proud Of'

Politics | Mon, Oct 27, 2008 at 4:07:33 pm PDT

Still more cynical political use of children at the official Barack Obama web site: Barack Obama and Joe Biden: The Change We Need | Kids HQ Blog.

Includes this classic line:

“I am eight years old,” says Zoe, “and George Bush has been the president my whole life. I want to finally have a president I can be proud of.”

I’m sure this 8-year old came up with that all by herself. [/sarcasm]

I'll see your poor little child, taught to believe that his own country and culture are evil, and raise you a 7-yr-old that cannot stop talking about McCain, acquired somewhere (I have no idea because I can't find one) a McCain/Palin button which he wears everywhere, and wishs he could vote 4 times for McCain (until we had a little talk about keeping your honor even when the stakes are the highest.)

Why wouldn't they lean Democrat?

"He believes in redistributing wealth, not in policies that grow our economy and create jobs. He is more interested in controlling wealth than in creating it, in redistributing money instead of spreading opportunity."

Just to state the obvious, supporters for BOTH candidates have children. Many of those children have adopted the viewpoints and passions of their parents.

McCain (or any candidate in the history of time) could produce similar very young fans.

It is a non-story.

But that matters none to the Obama campaign. They have a tale to sell.

And the tale is that "little children, who everyone knows are pure and recoginize the truth, not to mention being the future, all these children are seeking the Obama."

Heh. No sh*t. I've had to hire recent grads for entry level positions and the amount of training necessary just to bring them up to speed on grammar, report formatting, basic math, and general work-skills (especially the ethic of hard work) is astounding. To me, an applicant coming to me fresh-faced from college graduation was a negative first impression and they have proved it to me time and time again! Unfortunately, our company had a program for hiring recent grads, so I had to give them some preference. In every case, 100% of the time - and I'm talking over 20 examples in the past 18 months - I have been sorely disappointed, frustrated, exasperated, and dumbfounded at the caliber of "graduates" churned out by big and small colleges and universities.

Their opinion of their own self is so inflated it would be funny if it wasn't so depressing.

Less, in my opinion. I have a book of short stories which I picked up--for the stories--in a used bookstore. From the rubberstamp inside the cover, it was used as a textbook in an elementary school about 60 years ago.

I don't think even half of today's high school grads could read the stories with comprehension, or answer the test questions at the end of each tale.

Ain't that the truth (how's that for being literate?). Few years back I saw an 8th grade test from the 1890's or so. I do have a college degree and I couldn't answer half the questions.....and I fancy myself (humbly) a reasonably educated person.....

Heh.

But children are the perfect Democratic constituents. They don't work, they don't know much, they're bright but they think they're brighter than they are, they're very demanding, and some of them are rather infantile.

Why wouldn't they lean Democrat?

So true, as pointed out in this observation by the great P.J. O'Rourke:

The liberal is continually angry, as only a self-important man can be, with his civilization, his culture, his country and his folks back home. His is an infantile world view. At the core of liberalism is the spoiled child -- miserable, as all spoiled children are, unsatisfied, demanding, ill-disciplined, despotic and useless. Liberalism is a philosophy of sniveling brats.

This is beyond the pale. My MIL tries to hold my children hostage when they visit and indoctrinate them. She has gone so far as to tell them I have brainwashed them. Luckily, my 17 year old can be a snot head at times (though I try TRY to get her to always be polite to her grandparents no matter what). She will say "Mom didn't need to brain wash us, in fact, she answers our questions honestly and discusses thing without name calling. If things are more than (ten year old sister) should hear, she says so. You could learn from her Grandma." The ten year old, bless her, says "My Daddy, your son, is in the Army. Why do you like the people who don't like him?"

I do all I can to only give them information they can understand and deal with. For the 17 year old, there isn't much I hold back and encourage lots of research on her part rather than me just answering. The ten year old? She is feisty and just gets it. She would be a republican even IF I wasn't.

Serious question, Walter. Being that your in touch with the entertainment industry, what will happen to the conservative actors/entertainers should "O" become Potus? Will they be blacklisted? /ok lizards, no smart ass remarks about my last question.

Well, it's already evident that in the movie business if you are conservative, you don't get a lot of work. This was well pointed out if you heard any of the interviews with the cast of "An American Carol." So, nothing has changed in Hollywood, in the most it could only get worst (it doesn't have far to go).

I've only hob-nobbed on the edge of Hollywood. I've done small parts in 8 feature films, two were speaking rolls, but all were filmed here in Denver. So, I haven't spent any time in La LA Land.

Live theatre is a bit different, at least for me, or at least for Denver. On a local level, I don't see any bias in casting because of politics. That may have something to do with the fact that the local stable of good actors and tech people is not as large as it would be in New York or L.A., so we can't afford to be too picky.

And as a playwright, it's hard to radar in on my politics since I cover a wide range of topics in my works. But, yes, in general, in the theatre community here, I am known as the "pet conservative."

And I do have editorials and other political writing of my own published in the local dailies, so I am not hiding my opinions.

In short, it hasn't hurt me in Colorado.

Babies for Obama

I envision the slogan of the next stage to be: "Fetuses for Obama". They could tattoo it on the pregnant bellies.

Yes a deaf ear indeed. Actually I curse the TV screen when PBS is asking for money.

Personally, I think Bush has been a pretty good president as far as those go.

I want a president who doesn't lie all the time, hide personal details about his background, call the dogs on you if you make him look bad or put him on the hot seat, and who doesn't feel its his job to re-write the constitution according to his vision.

Just by the way, how the hell does an eight year old know whether or not to be "proud of his President?"

Shame on his parents.......

there is something so obscene abt. the way the O has every possible vehicle for his success lined up perfectly, to assure that it happen. no stone left unturned.
he has children as young as 8 wringing their hands abt. how bad their short lives have been w/ g.w. as potus. that is so wrong.
he has children singing hymns to him like he is the messiah, and children who must commander their parents to vote for him.
the msm shilling for him, the shutting down of discussion of most subjects abt. the O, his ears, his middle name, his socialist slogans, his horrendous friends.
it is creepy how he has everything going for him and that could be the very reason he loses.
his smug, arrogant over confidence.
his demeanor is sickening. his level of expectation is obnoxious.
i think people are picking up on what a crass distasteful person he is.
i'm hoping his hubris is his down fall.
that we still have enough level headed americans in our country who will be rightly offended by this grifter and his snake oil plans for our country.

re: #164 Walter L. Newton

Thanks, Walter...stay safe in Denver.

On the other hand, both my children were democrats for the first year of their lives.

I could tell because they liked to be spoon fed.

REMINDS ME OF THE JOKE
were a kid has a box of puppies and tells the politican that they are democrats and the politican comes back a couple of weeks later and the kid now says there are REPUBLICAN so the politican asks why the change he said 'today they have there eyes open'

The Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts in the US and the original organizations in Great Britain predated the Hitlerjugend.

Any comparisons should keep that in mind.

188 Palandine  Mon, Oct 27, 2008 5:34:31pm

Dear Zoe,

When you were around 1 year old, 19 men with boxcutters hijacked four airplanes. They killed 3000 people in New York City, hundreds in Wasington DC. The passengers of the 4th plane died so that that plane would not be used in yet another attack on our capital.

That was a terrible day. Everyone was scared. No one knew if it was the beginning of a wave of attacks. I'm so glad you have no memory of that day. No child should.

I didn't vote for George Bush in 2000; I voted for a 3rd party. But let me tell you, Zoe, I got down on my knees on September 11 and thanked God that Al Gore had not become President. I knew, for his many faults, that George Bush would defend the country powerfully, and that Gore would not.

We live in dangerous times. I pray every night that Obama will not be elected and you will never know the fear that we felt on that day, coupled with a weak, feckless President whose first instinct will be to apologize and surrender.

189 Code Red 21  Mon, Oct 27, 2008 5:54:59pm

I find it interesting that socialist, Nazi Germany, and communists, Russia, China, etc...recruit children to get to their message out. Kinda of like the Obama campaign. Birds of a feather.

190 FortunateSon  Mon, Oct 27, 2008 6:01:43pm

...because she can definitely be proud of a President that will mortgage her future for social programs that are childlike in their naivety at best and elitist and cynical at their worst. What could you expect from a kid who's social philosophy most likely consists of "sharing is caring" at this point in her life? There is a reason we don't let children run things.

And there is something wrong with people who couldn't be, or refuse to be, proud of a man as honorable and brave as McCain serving as their President-I sure would be, and I don't even agree with him on everything.

191 mattm  Mon, Oct 27, 2008 6:56:21pm

Why can't conspiracy theorists drag themselves away from the Moon Landing, JFK, and 9/11 and shed some light on the frighteningly fascist tactics and rhetoric of the Obama campaign?

liberal friend sent this to me last week..I thought it was a joke at first.
translation: "come to ohio and illegally vote for Obama, k? thnx!"

"Obama for America
Dear M.,

Make history in Ohio Folks in Texas are proud of their rich history.

In just two weeks, they'll play a huge role in writing the next chapter of our national story.

On Election Day, Texans have the opportunity to make a huge impact -- not just at home, but also in crucial battleground states like Ohio -- by doing everything they can to bring change to America.

There's never been a more urgent time to take action. So we're asking Texans to make a trip to help Barack win -- we'll provide everything you need, including transportation and a place to stay while you're travelling.

It's a big request, but the impact Texans will have on this election could make the difference in this election.

Will you take a trip to help Barack in Ohio before November 4th?

A lot has happened since the last presidential election. But everyone remembers where they were in 2004 when the results came in from Ohio.

At the end of the night, a lot of folks felt like they could have done more.

This year, the McCain campaign is spreading some of the most vile and misleading smears in the history of presidential politics. Voters in Ohio must hear the truth -- and we need you to tell them.

This year, don't have any regrets on Election Night. Make a big impact and join us in Ohio:

[Link: tx.barackobama.com...]

Ohio could be the key to victory for this campaign. Texans can make all the difference.

Help us win in Ohio -- and help us change this country.

Thanks,

Juan

Juan Sepulveda
Texas State Director
Obama for America

P.S. -- We need help from across the country to win in Ohio. We've set up a great resource for visiting volunteers to get the resources they need to plan a successful trip:

One gal called the radio station to say her kid's English
textbook had 15 pages devoted to Obama in it. The English textbook...! Rennsalaer(sp) Ny, I think.

also at my local Barnes and Noble, the dnstairs has big display tables. On the tables are children's books written in kid book fashion for little kids all about the Obama.
All this worship stuff is getting ridiculous and worrying.
I've go this old guy in the neighborhood that walks around with an Obama shirt and I had a shouting mach with him already. Trouble is these people just wave off or ignore anything intelligent about the Oby. Others say if that is true why wasn't it in the newspaper. ?
