Liberation Theology is the MARXIST attempt to subvert the church.

It succeeded with Wright and Obama.

Ayers, Dohrn hosted August 1996 Democratic Party fund-raiser

A new independent political committee called Democrats Online for the Democratic Party, headquartered at [Link: www.democrats.com,...] set to launch August 27, 1996 with simultaneous fund-raising events in San Francisco and Chicago.

The group’s purpose is to build a stronger Democratic community on the Internet by hosting active dialogue and discussion. … Democrats Online aims at being the most highly interactive partisan political site built to date. Drawing from the Clinton Administration and the Democratic Party’s records of achievement, visitors to the site will be able to create a unique endorsement page that proclaims either why they are are a Democrat or why they support Clinton/Gore. Once they have built this “virtual lawn sign” declaring their support, visitors are invited to call a 900 number and record a testimonial that is attached to their page. Other visitors may review the endorsements and listen to the recorded testimonials.

One of the two fund-raisers was held in Chicago at the home of Bernardine Dohrn and Bill Ayers.

Just some guy in my neighborhood.

In church bulletins and sermons Wright has described Jesus of Nazareth as a black Palestinian oppressed by white Europeans and Jews. Why does this not chill even secular Jews to the bone?

The problem is not Wright. There will always be complete jerks in this world, on all sides. The problem is that he is tolerated or even accepted by the current mainstream of the Democrat party.

Where was the media to uncover that juicy video? How does that compare with what Obama's been saying about his friend, acquaintance, some guy on the block, some guy under the bus named Rev. Wright?

It doesn't.

He can't be saying this stuff unless he knew Wright better than he's admitted, but will this matter to people now? I doubt it.

You can't make this about Wright. You can make this about Obama's judgment, character (lack thereof), and choice of associations as an adult.

42 imploder  Tue, Oct 28, 2008 1:26:41pm

re: #39 buzzsawmonkey

Secular Jews are more terrified of white Christians than anything else.

There are several reasons. The strongest is that white Christians have been known to evangelize Jews, and occasionally convert them--particularly secular Jews, who have not been taught Judaism by their parents and community. So secular Jews see white Christians as a threat. Black Christians, not so much.

The other reason secular Jews are terrified of white Christians is that though they have jettisoned most if not all of their Judaism, they retain fears of Christian pogroms & forced conversions in Europe, and of bigotry by Christians against Jews in this country. The latter, of course, was felt more directly by Jews than anti-Jewish bigotry by blacks.

What really is a secular Jew if it is not a person practicing judaism? Is Jew a race? It would be along the lines of comparing non-practicing Christians to practicing Christians. There is no race of Christians.

If Jeremiah Wright is indeed "the best of what the black church has to offer," it has fallen mightily since the days of Martin Luther King.

I'm not black and I am (nominally, really) Christian. Attending one or another predominantly African American church is somewhat of a long standing Easter tradition for me. Wright's 'church' has a black congregation but it's not in any sense of the word Christian - which wipes out any affiliated religious connection to traditional African American Churches.

Like the New Party, the Democrats.com party was designed to be a party within a party... a vanguard, if you will. The goal is to drag the Democratic party to the left, whether the vast majority of Democrats want to or not. This is the classic Bolshevik strategy of taking over mainstream parties as a short-cut to revolution. Ayers has been working toward this goal for a long time, and is about to get his creature, Barrack Obama, elected into the White House.

I agree. The only reason you'd get a dyed-in-the-wool Communist (self described) to work for the Democrat party (or any Major party) is because they share values.

I've said it before & I'll say it again: when you read Prairie Fire, then listen to the Democrat Party platform today, you realize that the Democrat party has become (or is for sure strongly leaning towards) 1960s communist! "No war for Oil", "Boycott Israel" "We are all Palestinians", Che as a icon, etc.

You bitter, clingy racist whites (like a sort of limp, pale arugala stuck to the side of a salad bowl by ranch dressing) have mis-heard and deliberately misrepresented Rev. Wright.

The actual quote concerns the flooding of New Orleans by Bush using Hurrican Katrina, and the need of the poor folks for divine intervention in matters of dikery, rather than everyday blessings...

"Not God bless America...God DAM America!"

Yes, but by that definition many Christians would also be considered Jews as Christ himself was a Jew, as were many early believers. As far as Judaism as a race, I think that is controversial when considering the definition as commonly used. Indeed, the diaspora that returned to populate Israel in the early days was quite diverse in the regard of race, and even today Israel accepts Jews from Africa and the like.

I'm certainly no expert on the subject but I always wondered about the term secular Jew.

4) That she is the "commander" of the Battalion is not true, this is under the purview of whomever is in the T.O. for the Battalion. I'm sure she is briefed on a need-to-know basis, however, of what's going on with them. Highly classified briefings I'm sure are not necessary. Need-to-know, y'know.

This proves that he very well knew all along about Reverend Jeremiah “God Damn America” Wright ideology and sermons. His claim earlier this year was yet another fabrication by Barack Obama.

Clearly he speaks the language of the far left in this and other interviews found on WBEZ. Given this it is fair at this point to say that he knew about Ayer's background and was in complete harmony with that and Ayer's later radical ideologies.

The fact that Barack Obama made it this far in the national spotlight and is leading in the national polls is very disturbing. How America has and is being hoodwinked by Barack Obama and the Democratic Party is outrageous.

See Buzzsaw's 66. It might be easier to understand if you use the word "tribe" instead of "race", as you correctly point out that you can be both African, Asian, European, and Jewish.

Obama's Healthcare Advisor: “not that fond” of Obama’s health care plan

“We're on the verge of an Obama Presidency," said Edwards at George Washington University Monday night, and “I’m not that fond of his plan.” Edwards complained that Obama – like his Republican rival, Sen. John McCain -- views healthcare as a commodity, rather than a human right. Still, Edwards called the plan a step in the right direction – despite its lack of a "mandate for universality” – and said it wouldn’t scare people and politicians as had the Clinton administration’s attempt in 1993.

However, Edwards’ critique of Obama’s plan doesn’t mean that she’s saving any love for McCain’s health care proposals. Edwards – who has battled breast cancer since 2004 – said McCain’s plan fails in all important areas by leaving the decision-making process up to individuals, who can frequently “make stupid economics decisions.”

And thats what is wrong with the Dems. They see everything as a need to protect people from themselves.

B0 needs to be called out on his big, life-long lie of having a 'Christian Belief'.
He is a marxist, and those are, per definitionem, atheists.

After all, Marx said that religion is like opium for the masses.

B0 is -areligious, anything he spouts about his belief is a lie.

Obama said in his own autobiography that he was attracted to Marxists and radicals in college. For him NOT to know who Ayers, leader and head of the infamous Weather Underground, is on its face preposterous.

Further, Ayers, Obama, and Wright all speak the exact same language of radical Marxism.

Its the same old thing: America is imperialist and bad, Racism is a uniquely American institution (Ayers went so far as to claim America invented racism in his book), we need to redisribute the wealth, etc.

One of the problems with conservatives and classical liberals is ultimately that their platform involves actually having the government do less; ergo, there is less policy to talk about and thus in a campaign against a less literally liberal (in the literal, classical sense of the word) candidate, it will be the LLL who is the actual subject of most of the discussion.

Well, you line up all the Jewish comedians and I will help you slap them back into righteousness.

Oh great. Another Obama story. Still waiting for some information on why I should vote for John McCain. Apparently there aren't any.

Sorry to wake you up but here's a brief summary- McCain would be fiscally way more conservative than Barry. McCain proposes tax cuts and not welfare distributions disguised as tax cuts. McCain's pro-capitalist policies will incentivize people to produce and to climb that economic ladder. Instead of Obama's opponent's reckless, socialist policies and handouts for the lazy and the angry have-nots that are meant to buy votes. McCain has a track record of bucking the party line on a host of issues. Obama has never demonstrated an ounce of any political courage.
Oh, also, it would not be a leap of faith to assume that McCain will serve our country's interests because his POW experience proves that he doesn't look out just for himself during times of crises. And Obama's racist & anti-American associates shed light on Obama's poor judgment and likely disappointing core beliefs that make him unworthy of service in the secret service, let alone the White House.

High School Musical Election

Ahh it's all coming together. Its all toe tapping feel good fun as we bear down into the stretch. Obama's measuring the drapes and McCain, musket in hand, Cindy by his side, gamely charges on. The last warrior, our bravest greatest soldier dauntless to the hail of fire, everything the press and Obama can shoot at him. Obama has $600 million for ammo and the MSM totally in the tank firing wildly at McCain with everything they have. I hope John's staff uses the New York Magazine cover proclaiming President Obama for John's Truman imitation photo.

There really are hundreds of former Clintonistas and PUMAs in the McCaim campaign and John will pull this out. To journalism's everlasting shame, there is no need to look up Obama's drug dealers from 1978 to 1994. Not when they can focus on Sarah Palin to ignore the fact that unlike Obama, McCain has no coterie of the most repugnant anti-American and Anti-Israel pals in the history of modern politics. McCain, with roaring crowds of taxpayers, delivers epic speeches like his monster in Durango Friday (have you seen this vid yet? It is remarkable in every respect and you need to see it), steams towards the goal line, rejuvenated, energized, totally in the fight and proving to all of just how great a man he is.

It really is all looking like a feel-good happy musical with John singing loud and proud at the end. We just all need to sing along!

So I say this is our moment. I have been spending countless hours educating people about Obama, his fundraising and his shady friends, his anti Israel friends and his Marxist friends, his shady Marxist anti Israel friends. It is a deep mine. The American people are taking one last look. This election has always been the sure known quantity against the pretty package that sounds good. But when we peeled the wrapper back it is not cornflakes but a box of 1938 Stalinbran (sorry could not resist that pun!

The mere existence of the LA Times video is damning enough. Right now voters are free to conclude the worst is on the tape and, if the LA Times releases it, Jews for Obama implodes in an epic fail, Purim style, that is an excellent finale before wrapping up the happy ending next Tuesday! The Jewish vote for McCain will be close to 45% and deservedly so. No one who pals around with the likes of Ayers, Wright, Said and Khalidi with Iran closing in on the bomb can or will be trusted by Jewish voters. I can't imagine John can crack 50% but, if anyone can do it, it will be John McCain.

McCain soars by the minute.

We're all in this together America; McCain is going to win and be a great President. Do not believe for one second any poll number showing Obama ahead.

Believe in the Victory- because this one will be SWEEEEEEET!

As to my "uneducated" comment, the truth is that I actually do not know when Christian mistreatment of Jews began. If I had to guess, in the .1/100th of the second I have just thought about it, I would have quickly used our present year to get my number. (2008)

re: #153 Teacake!

I have done this on another site.
In the last year Russian bombers have been playing footsie with
F-22's from elmendorf, more than once, the last time I am aware of being in August 2008.

Now, there's this
[Link: www.nydailynews.com...]

But..
without going through all the links, When Gov. Palin said something about
Russian Bombers "breaching Alaskan airspace" and the Press asked the NORAD guy about it, he not only said the governor was not in the loop, he also said.
""

"To be very clear, there has not been any incursion in U.S. airspace in recent years."""

Which is plainly a very carefully worded diversion since they did breach "US defensive space" enough to scramble the F-22's more than once, and recently at that.
So since the NORAD guy would split hairs so as to practically lie about
whether these incursions occurred at all, even when they are seemingly public knowledge, I am not sure I can believe him about the Gov., of Alaska being out of the loop either.

OT.

Deja vu? This time in history has some compelling similarities with 1973. In fact it's looking like an exact replay.

1973 - America at the end of a long grueling war. The left has been rooting for the enemy, the right has been striving for victory but there has been some measure of success and troop are being drawn down. Despite a massive recent military defeat that has sent the enemy reeling, they still have no plans to give up.

2008 - Same thing.

1973 - 2 term Republican President exiting office after being hammered by the leftist press and their allies over the war.

2008 - Same thing.

1973 - The Democrats have control of congress and are going to cut off funding for the allies in Vietnam.

2008 - The Democrats are taking control of congress and are promising the same thing.

1973 - The next President is going to run on a simple, feel good platform of "Change". Jimmy Carter. This coupled with a Democrat majority in congress will give all power to the Democrats.

2008 - The probable next President is running on a simple, feel good platform of "Change". This coupled with a Democrat majority in congress will give all power to the Democrats.

1973 - The Russian bear is poised to expand it's territory using it's military very cognizant of the American political climate.

2008 - Same.

The change we got back then? Russia invaded Afghanistan and communism spread elsewhere throughout the world exactly like the liberals said it wouldn't, the hard fought war in Vietnam was lost and all the lives and treasure spent on the tenuous gains ended up being wasted. Then the United States economy collapsed.

On the upside back then, the music scene was incredible. The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Stevie Wonder, Fleetwood Mac, Queen, Bob Dillan, ZZ Top, Rod Stewart, The BeeGees, Abba and Elton John to name a few toured to promote classic albums they released.

We've got the Jonas Brothers and Miley Sirus.

Oh well, we Americans are tough. We'll get through whatever happens next. Even the Jonas Brothers and Miley Sirus.

Indeed.

As to academic records, I don't know if he has much hidden there, except maybe mediocre grades and an affinity for questionable liberal arts classes.

Maybe some Columbia lizard graduates can help, but I don't think a thesis is necessary for an undergraduate degree there.

But undergrad and law school work aside, his entire CV is tainted with Marxism: spiritual advisor: Marxist, First (only?) major administrative job, working with (and probably handed to him by) Marxist Ayers. I don't think we need much more information regarding his ideology given his rhetoric and actions -- of course the more we find the better given this is the last week. It's surprising to see so many Americans find this acceptable for someone vying for Commander in Chief as POTUS.

I'm not sure about this, although I think it's better than 50/50 that there ARE communities where noncitizens can vote. Someone can check, but I believe that Amherst Ma and Cambridge MA allow noncitizens to vote. I believe there are others around the country. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I believe a read an article about this about 10-12 years ago. Not sure if it was just for municipal and/or state elections, but I think you are either a registered voter or not.

The Presidential Election is a Federal Election. You have to be a citizen, well you used till until Acorn got involved.

Because, when Obama destroys the American health care system, by turning it socialist like your shitty Canadian one, you won't be able to come south to the USA to get decent healthcare anymore.

At the rate we are going now, healthcare expenditure will account for 30% of GDP in 30 years. So lets not throw stones.

Personally, I believe that this aspect of the Presidential race might be the most frightening. We live in an America where close association with Racists, Anti-Semites, Socialists, and Terrorists don't matter.

Obama is just one man. The public's acceptance of this type of person is what frightens ME the most.

Several things have contributed to this, IMO: Liberal/socialist education which starts at pre-kindergarten. Romanticizing criminal actions and the criminal mind by the Hollywood elite. And something I was thinking the other day is the on-going dumping of "gangsta' rap" on the last one and a half generations of young skulls full of mush (and some old skulls full of mush).

Highlighting the positions of Obama - including the old tapes and statement, his associations and judgment to demonstrate a trend and to highlight where he wants to take the country is not in itself negative. It clarifies the choice - socialism / fascism via the New Deal 2.1 or not.

This step is needed because, very simply, the MSM will not do its job to communicate and contrast.

Obama Affinity to Marxists Dates Back to College Days

Obama himself acknowledges that he was drawn to socialists and even Marxists as a college student. He continued to associate with Marxists later in life, even choosing to launch his political career in the living room of a self-described Marxist, William Ayers, in 1995, when Obama was 34.

Obama's affinity for Marxists began when he attended Occidental College in Los Angeles.

"To avoid being mistaken for a sellout, I chose my friends carefully," the Democratic presidential candidate wrote in his memoir, "Dreams From My Father." "The more politically active black students. The foreign students. The Chicanos. The Marxist professors and structural feminists."

Obama's interest in leftist politics continued after he transferred to Columbia University in New York. He lived on Manhattan's Upper East Side, venturing to the East Village for what he called "the socialist conferences I sometimes attended at Cooper Union."

After graduating from Columbia in 1983, Obama spent a year working for a consulting firm and then went to work for what he described as "a Ralph Nader offshoot" in Harlem.

"A major news organization is intentionally suppressing information that could provide a clearer link between Barack Obama and Rashid Khalidi," said McCain spokesman Michael Goldfarb, citing Obama's friendship with Khalidi, who is now a professor at Columbia University.

He said the video could, among other things, show how Obama responded to a poem recited at the party accusing Israel of "terrorism" and warning of consequences for U.S. support for Israel, which Goldfarb described as "hate speech."

"The election is one week away, and it's unfortunate that the press so obviously favors Barack Obama that this campaign must publicly request that the Los Angeles Times do its job — make information public," he said

Yes. Or even beyond Fox and reading blogs and other news outlets. Given that Fox is more accessible it is an easier route for the average American but then they might have to play closer attention to the special programs.

What the German expatriate said is alarming. Stylistically (I know this might be a stretch) he reminds me of Mussolini. Of course, Obama does represent socialism and in this comparison he is like many national socialists but without the nationalism.

It's been said before, but it cannot be said enough; if a white politician was a member of a church with a white pastor with a history of saying racists comments, he would have never gotten past the Iowa Caucuses. This needs to be brought out; he sat there for twenty years listening to Rev. Wright. Now, I am sure that Rev. Wright has had plenty of non-inflammatory sermons and sermon series. But, when he has gone on his socio-political rants, and revealed how he really felt--and BHO stayed in the church--that tells me that Obama is either, at the very least, a political opportunist using the church and its flock for his own ends, or, at the worst, he condoned and supported the Reverend's lessons.

This is the lesson of Reverend Wright.

This is similar to "Catholic guilt."
Perhaps what happens is that the secularized, non-practicing or semi-practicing Catholic picks up a vague sense of sin but, unlike the fully practicing traditional Catholic, stops there. As the orthodox catechism has always taught, a sense of guilt is worthless, even destructive, if separated from the embrace of divine mercy.

1. Obtain one clean white oak plank, freshly milled long and wide enough to hold your chunk of spam.

2. Place your spam (open the can and remove spam first) on your clean freshly milled white oak plank.

3. place your plank and span in a preheated oven and bake at 350 deg. F. for 1 1/2 hours or until spam is golden brown.

4. Remove plank with spam from the oven and allow to cool.

5. Season to taste.

6. With a clean spatula, rake spam off of plank and into garbage can, the plank is then ready to eat.

Enjoy!

I have said several times that I do not want anyone to ever ask me again how the German Jews could fool themselves that "everything would be all right" when Adolf became Chancellor. We are watching a similar phenomenon today.

I hope you're wrong. This is still America and Americans can be wrong, but not consistently so like the Germans were 60 -70 years or so ago. I think if Obama does get elected (please G-d don't let it happen), Americans will quickly see what a mistake they've made and demand change. [This time change would be a good thing]

Christian or no Christian you have to work for those things if you want them. And so what if he is rich? King Davd was filthy rich? You any better? Timing is working against us in this case. The accused has 10 days to respond to the charges. Until then, her counsel has advised her to shut her pie hole. All we want to know is:

Did she do this out of personal curiosity?
Did she do this at the request of anyone in particular?
Did she report her findings to anyone in particular?

believing that the Messiah has come does not make someone 'not a Jew'

just makes him a confused Jew, because the state of the world is not what it would be, had the Messiah come

the JEws that followed Jesus may well have believed he was the Messiah, but believing he was DIVINE and was born of a virgin takes this into a realm outside of Judiasm

but I think that divine quality was introduced later into the narrative

Sure you can believe in Jesus as the Moshiach and still technically be a Jew if you converted (Orthodoxically) to Judaism, or if your mother was a Jew.

Obama embodies the leftist, globalist anti-patriotism which is but the flip side of the hyper-nationalism of Fascist Italy or National Socialist Germany. In my Junk E-mail folder today, I found an offer to share $17.5 million with a nice fellow in Nigeria if only I would send him my private information.

His English was way off. The words were spelled correctly but they were flowery and verbose in a way that didn't sound like American English in the slightest.

Not that I would expect a Nigerian email scam artist to speak perfect English or anything, but it reminded me of the flowery and verbose way that Obambi speaks when he's expounding on his empty rhetoric.

Not that I think he's from Nigeria or anything.

It just struck the same "This is a phony!" cord as Obambi does when I hear him.

If Obambi retires from politics (soon, I hope), I think he could have a real career in internet scams.

1) Tie a suspect fraudulent ballot to a particular voter. Not possible with the secret ballot.
2) Get the suspect to waive 5th Amend rights, and admit to commit fraud on the stand in a court of law.

In fact, I'm pretty sure they don't teach that spelling anywhere in the US.

Charles, there might be one way for an American to become accustomed to that spelling, living in a Commonwealth English environment. However, IF true, it's significant that he has NOT thought to bring it up.

What's the star at the upper-left of IE called? How's it spelled when one sets the language for the program? I don't know, but I think the troll's a liar. It says "force of habit", rather than something like "it's what I've become accustomed to". Choice of phrase, quickly typed, is revealing.

This song has been going through my mind all day:

O Come O Come Emmanual

O come, O come, Emmanuel
And ransom captive Israel
That mourns in lonely exile here
Until the Son of God appear
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.

O come, Thou Rod of Jesse, free
Thine own from Satan's tyranny
From depths of Hell Thy people save
And give them victory o'er the grave
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.

O come, Thou Day-Spring, come and cheer
Our spirits by Thine advent here
Disperse the gloomy clouds of night
And death's dark shadows put to flight.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.

O come, Thou Key of David, come,
And open wide our heavenly home;
Make safe the way that leads on high,
And close the path to misery.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.

O come, O come, Thou Lord of might,
Who to Thy tribes, on Sinai's height,
In ancient times did'st give the Law,
In cloud, and majesty and awe.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.

re: #275 Soona'

Several things have contributed to this, IMO: Liberal/socialist education which starts at pre-kindergarten. Romanticizing criminal actions and the criminal mind by the Hollywood elite. And something I was thinking the other day is the on-going dumping of "gangsta' rap" on the last one and a half generations of young skulls full of mush (and some old skulls full of mush).

I agree that the socialist leaning/indoctrinating education system played a huge part in "prepping" the "battlefield". It is this that I believe allowed the the other two issues you discussed to exist. The education system (and parents raised in 60 Socialist mentality) was the root, and the media, etc., were the branches that sprouted forth.

From having worked in Entertainment, and having many friends, and family that are in it, it is not my belief that they have made a conscious decision to put forth the socialist, victocrat, leftist values upon society. The fact that this is what we the society gets is because of the Socialist/victocrat world view they already possess. The type of shows/programming is not purposefull to push a message, but a result of the fact that the people making the decisions believe that any message other than the one they put forth is just simply WRONG in all aspects. They don't ponder if Conservative values have value, compared to their own. They KNOW they don't. They don't ever get out of their leftist comfort zone (i'm not sure they can) to even begin to think, act, behave otherwise.

This was made most evident to me when I heard two big time T.V. production executives arguing/discussing how everyone has homsexual tendencies, and in fact heterosexual tenancies are the abnormal ones. Their point was that EVERYONE at one point has wanted to have sexual relations with their same-sex best friend, and being "straight" was actually a repression of normal desires. They didn't disagree to the core of this discussion (if everyone was gay), but instead to what extent each one of us was gay. (ie: if you were just "experiencing" or were actually Homosexual) It is this disconnect from "other" values that causes the shows they put on. They wouldn't put on a show, or promote music, about a well rounded, intelligent, Conservative family, that doesn't have a gay kid, or a druggie kid, or teen pregnancy, because in their world these types of families just don't exist! To them, these horrible extremes are the NORM, and if you say otherwise you are simply lying.

There is also an aspect of arrogance to their positions. They believe they have the ultimate Truth, and thus are never wrong! Thus, if you question their prevailing core understandings, instead of having to discuss or prove their beliefs they just call you dismissive names such as "racist", "homophobic", "xenophobe", "closed-minded", etc.

Trivia fact; She is already a "Maximum Individual" contributor to The One's campaign.

So far, this interesting revelation has met with deafening silence from the state government.

OT: Has anyone seen this from New Age quack Deepak Chopra? I'm not sure where it was originally posted, possibly on his own web site or blog. I used to think he was sort of harmless, but this such nasty filth--the way he twists everything about Sarah Palin into something sinister and evil. So much for being "nonjudgmental."

Obama and The Palin Effect
From: Deepak Chopra | Posted: Friday, September 5th, 2008

Sometimes politics has the uncanny effect of mirroring the national psyche even when nobody intended to do that. This is perfectly illustrated by the rousing effect that Gov. Sarah Palin had on the Republican convention in Minneapolis this week. On the surface, she outdoes former Vice President Dan Quayle as an unlikely choice, given her negligent parochial expertise in the complex affairs of governing. Her state of Alaska has less than 700,000 residents, which reduces the job of governor to the scale of running one-tenth of New York City. By comparison, Rudy Giuliani is a towering international figure. Palin's pluck has been admired, and her forthrightness, but her real appeal goes deeper.
She is the reverse of Barack Obama, in essence his shadow, deriding his idealism and exhorting people to obey their worst impulses. In psychological terms the shadow is that part of the psyche that hides out of sight, countering our aspirations, virtue, and vision with qualities we are ashamed to face: anger, fear, revenge, violence, selfishness, and suspicion of 'the other.' For millions of Americans, Obama triggers those feelings, but they don't want to express them. He is calling for us to reach for our higher selves, and frankly, that stirs up hidden reactions of an unsavory kind. (Just to be perfectly clear, I am not making a verbal play out of the fact that Sen. Obama is black. The shadow is a metaphor widely in use before his arrival on the scene.)
I recognize that psychological analysis of politics is usually not welcome by the public, but I believe such a perspective can be helpful here to understand Palin's message. In her acceptance speech Gov. Palin sent a rousing call to those who want to celebrate their resistance to change and a higher vision.

Look at what she stands for:
--Small town values -- a denial of America's global role, a return to petty, small-minded parochialism.
--Ignorance of world affairs -- a repudiation of the need to repair America's image abroad.
--Family values -- a code for walling out anybody who makes a claim for social justice. Such strangers, being outside the family, don't need to be heeded.
--Rigid stands on guns and abortion -- a scornful repudiation that these issues can be negotiated with those who disagree.
-Patriotism -- the usual fallback in a failed war.
--'Reform' -- an italicized term, since in addition to cleaning out corruption and excessive spending, one also throws out anyone who doesn't fit your ideology.

Palin reinforces the overall message of the reactionary right, which has been in play since 1980, that social justice is liberal-radical, that minorities and immigrants, being different from 'us' pure American types, can be ignored, that progressivism takes too much effort and globalism is a foreign threat. The radical right marches under the banners of 'I'm all right, Jack,' and 'Why change? Everything's OK as it is.' The irony, of course, is that Gov. Palin is a woman and a reactionary at the same time. She can add mom to apple pie on her resume, while blithely reversing forty years of feminist progress. The irony is superficial; there are millions of women who stand on the side of conservatism, however obviously they are voting against their own good. The Republicans have won multiple national elections by raising shadow issues based on fear, rejection, hostility to change, and narrow-mindedness.

Obama's call for higher ideals in politics can't be seen in a vacuum. The shadow is real; it was bound to respond. Not just conservatives possess a shadow -- we all do. So what comes next is a contest between the two forces of progress and inertia. Will the shadow win again, or has its furtive appeal become exhausted? No one can predict. The best thing about Gov. Palin is that she brought this conflict to light, which makes the upcoming debate honest. It would be a shame to elect another Reagan, whose smiling persona was a stalking horse for the reactionary forces that have brought us to the demoralized state we are in. We deserve to see what we are getting, without disguise.

This is a thin line however. Once born with a Jewish soul, there is nothing (as far as I know) you can do to make yourself not technically Jewish. Now this is not to say that you are practicing Judaism.

Just because a Jew does, or believes something, it doesn't mean that Judaism accepts or allows it. The line is that between "Jew" and "Judaism".

In many ways however, I could show how Christianity is actually closer to actual Judaism than Reformism, yet noone would deny Reformists from being "in" the Jew "club".

re: #217 Jimash

The governor of any state is the Commander of the Guard units within that state to keep it simple.

The activation of the Guard can be either under State or Federal authority. If the Activation is Federal then the Governor has no direct authority over those units/soldiers. However, the Guard unit still exists as a State unit, but the control is transferred to the Federal authority.

Regardless, the coordination and transfer of funding still exists between state and Federal authorities for the unit infrastructure.

If federally activated the State Command has no lines of authority, thus, no exchange of information is required and in fact, may be prohibited in sensitive areas. However, the military as a rule coordinates or liaises with the Government officials at the area of operation. She may be briefed , but the briefing may be limited in scope.

This, in no ways diminishes the Governor's role. It defines the clear delineation of State authority vs Federal authority. This allows the projection of military force to be separated from humanitarian mission.

The issue I have with Reformism is not necessarily that they believe it, but that they call it Judaism.

My point is that thinking Jesus is the Messiah while being a Jew is just one difference. Reformism however, promotes numerous differences yet noone questions (well most don't question) whether or not they are actually Jewish.

Christianity shares more core beliefs with Judaism than Reformism.

What scares me the most about Wright is the hate that he has preached all these years has manifested itself into Obama's soul, and in turn Obama has been preaching the exact same thing on the political stump.

Obama has pitted White against Black and the poor against anyone that is not poor. He simply oozes hatred towards those who do not support him, or the current Democrat Party.

In my life time I have never seen such rampant hatred or serious division between the races. When I first heard about Reverend Wright I was wounded to the core to think that so many Black people hated us. Us, meaning White people. I never knew there were so many Black people out there who believed as Reverend Wright. I thought he was just a nut like some nutty far Right groups.

If we who are White, can identify with those horrified and scary feelings when we first heard the preaching via Wright, and the TUCC congregation giving all those "Amens!", then in my opinion and only my opinion, we now should know what Black people have experienced in different times of their lives. Suspicion based on skin pigmentation. Definitely not a good feeling, but on the up side I thought,- now I know what Blacks have been saying how they feel sometimes when some of them are looked at based on skin pigmentation.

The choice for us who are not Black is whether or not we are going to allow the likes of Wright and Obama to permanently drive the racial wedge between us. I certainly hope not. I am going to keep telling myself that TUCC and Obama do not represent ALL of Black America, and they do not hate us with that level of hatred. They might be jazzed by Obama possibly being the first Black President, but surely they do not hate us the way Obama does. That might be somewhat delusional thinking because I have seen some pretty vicious stuff from Blacks aimed at Whites over Obama, but I do not want to be forced into feeling nervous or anxious about someone's skin pigmentation based on the bilge from so called Reverend Wright and Obama.

I am really scared about the aftermath of this election, no matter how it ends. I pray everyone of all colors are safe and nothing happens.

In fact, some hundred or so comments up, his Canadian IP address was noted by Charles and led to queries about his citizenship and his ability to vote in the US.

LOL! I always find humor whenever anyone with religious beliefs refers to some other person's religious beliefs as malarkey, or what-have-you.

I guess Atheists like me just are easy to amuse :-)

I would suspect that their definition of malarkey is only one set of religious beliefs shy of YOURS, actually.

I think you are selling him short. If you leave aside the tiny handful of his followers who ran away at the end, Jones came closer than any other socialist has to achieving the dream: freedom from want, from oppression, from alienation, from inequality, from work, from competition, from war, from sickness, from depression, from all misery. He did it.

So, in other words, you're saying that "perfect socialism" is suicide?

I have to disagree. Americans, even if they do make the mistake and vote in Obama, is not the same mindset as when the Germans voted in Hitler. The Germans had a history of anti-semitism and embracing fascists. Americans have no such history. In fact, theirs is an abhorrance to that. At least, so far in the US' short history.

I thought American was an older country than Germany. But then I'm just old school

Not all of us are guilty, liberal masochists, however. If Barry is elected, the American people will figure out who he is in short order, and the tables will turn. Ronald Reagan was a true American hero. Your petty denigration of him cannot besmirch his reputation. It only besmirches yours.

re: #286 Athos

Highlighting the positions of Obama - including the old tapes and statement, his associations and judgment to demonstrate a trend and to highlight where he wants to take the country is not in itself negative. It clarifies the choice - socialism / fascism via the New Deal 2.1 or not.

This step is needed because, very simply, the MSM will not do its job to communicate and contrast.

Good point. Extreme example: If you were walking past a playpen/sandbox where a dozen toddlers were playing, and you saw a rattlesnake go in through the fence, would you simply turn away and ignore the snake because it's not nice to focus on all that negativity?

Isn't this the origin of the story about the ostrich sticking its head in the sand? (And if your head is down in the sand, what part is most exposed?)

Didn't you know? There's a special secret hatch in the floor of Obama's bus that leads up into a swanky, well-outfitted room with blacked-out side windows. Rumor has it, that the view is WONDERFUL through those scenic bubble-top windows in that great big wealth-spreading bus.

About twenty years ago, my community was shocked that the Deepok people would try to take over some property to build an indoor spa. The place was a huge used bookstore run by a sole proprietor and a favorite shop in the neighborhood. She took him to court and wound up keeping the bookstore. We always admired her for taking on a low down corporate type for attempting to strong arm a small business. D.C. is a huge corporate concern whose endtime will come not too soon for me.

re: #39 buzzsawmonkey

That's really deep. Why have young secular Jews who have never been closer to a Pogrom than the wedding reception in "Fidler on the Roof" fear Christians in the US? Have they taken history and compacted it to fit only the pogroms, forced conversions in Europe, the WASPS of NYC, and Hitler and attributed all of these to Christianity rather than power hungry asswipes? Why do young blacks consider their lives to be as horrifying as that of a black slave in LA in 1845? Have any of them actually felt a whip? Or has the media and the schools told them over and over to expect whites to be disrespectful?

I'm not being facetious buzz, I've never heard anyone put the secular Jews and black church theologians in the same context before. Wow. this could be one hell of a research paper.

re: #217 Jimash

So since the NORAD guy would split hairs so as to practically lie about whether these incursions occurred at all, even when they are seemingly public knowledge, I am not sure I can believe him about the Gov., of Alaska being out of the loop either.

The NORAD spokesman was just saying whatever his bosses told him to say, not necessarily the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Here's a more reliable news record describing 18 recent Russky TU-95 'Bear" bomber incursions within 12-13 miles of Alaska.

The Governor of Alaska is a civilian who has almost no say over the US military, and especially the Air Force and their Rules of Engagement. She might or might not be informed when there's an incursion in our airspace, but it's not really a big deal. The Russians have been skirting around Alaskan airspace for many years, and they're probably doing it now just to keep their flyboys from getting bored. 30-40 years ago it was a lot more tense, but today it's just a 'ho-hum' thing.

Gov. Palin is the head of the Alaska National Guard, but National Guard troops will (hopefully) never see Russian bombers, so this point in the discussion is somewhat irrelevant. We've been looking across the waters to Russia forever, and all I can say is "Look, there's Russia."

I have a photo of me standing on a mountaintop on the westernmost tip of Alaska, with Eastern Siberia visible on the horizon, 40 miles across the Bering Straits. Yup, I COULD see Russia practically from my front door. It was always windy, with the chill factor for the month of January of that year averaging a minus 70 degrees F. No big deal. Brutally cold and miserable, but still no big deal.

I think that any Russian troops who are exiled to their radar bases on the eastern tip of Siberia must have REALLY pissed someone off, kinda like the hero in the movie The 13th Warrior.

re: #578 freeus

What scares me the most about Wright is the hate that he has preached all these years has manifested itself into Obama's soul, and in turn Obama has been preaching the exact same thing on the political stump.

Obama has pitted White against Black and the poor against anyone that is not poor. He simply oozes hatred towards those who do not support him, or the current Democrat Party.
[snip]

A bit from previous thread:

Obama has long been linked—through foundation grants, shared polticial activism, collaboration on legislation and tactics, and mutual praise and support—with the Chicago-based Gamaliel Foundation, one of the least known yet most influential national umbrella groups for church-based “community organizers.”
—Stanley Kurtz, National Review, September 1, 2008, p. 32

The name Gamaliel and the organization itself came directly from Saul Alinsky. He founded it.

Here's paragraph #3 of THE GAMALIEL FOUNDATION’S FAITH AND DEMOCRACY PLATFORM (as of 2006)

Segregation and racism are primary and driving forces inside American politics, culture and society. Racism fuels the current injustice and the current political reality we experience every day. Racism is masked and concealed inside a system of spatial segregation. Racism ultimately says that not only am I not my brothers’ and sisters’ keeper, but that they are not my brothers and my sisters.
635 abolitionist  Tue, Oct 28, 2008 4:33:55pm

re: #634 abolitionist

Slight correction: Scratch He founded it. The Gamaliel site does emphasize its close ideological connection to Alinsky, in it's history and naming.

636 Lynn B.  Tue, Oct 28, 2008 4:50:58pm

I'm probably too late to this thread but ...

I couldn't help but notice how different Obama's voice sounds on the clip. It not just because he's younger. If he's got even a trace of an accent here, it's sort of very mild Chicago. The inflection he uses in his speeches today is just not there. Wonder where it came from.

637 Josephine  Tue, Oct 28, 2008 4:57:02pm

This is my opinion.

I don't believe that Obama is a Christian.

I don't think he is well-intentioned about striving to follow the Christian faith.

I think he is deceitful and cynical enough to lie about it to gain votes.

If I had any doubts, this clip just cinched it for me.

Like everything else with Obama, it's all about form over substance.

Subterfuge.

I wouldn't trust that guy as far as I could throw him. I most certainly would never buy a used car from him.

re: #578 freeus

I am really scared about the aftermath of this election, no matter how it ends. I pray everyone of all colors are safe and nothing happens.

You and me both. Look at the neighborhoods that had riots during the 60's and 70's. Many of them never rebuilt. Homes, jobs and lives were lost and for what? A moment of mayhem and anarchy? More like cutting off your nose to spite your face moment. All the riots did were to affirm the prejudices of some segments of our society while harming the interests of the people living in the devastated communities .

I suspect that Obama is a poor loser. If he loses and his supporters take to the streets to 'avenge' themselves on 'racists' who stole the election from the ONE, that he won't either say or do anything to quell the riots. He may even tacitly encourage the riots as a means of exacting a political revenge on a political system he views as being racist.

Where does that put the issue of racism in America? Back 40-50 years? More? I remember watching the news during the late 50's to the early 70's. I saw the Selma marchers being beaten. I saw dogs attacking demonstrators who'd done nothing except to demand human rights. I remember the church bombings and wondered why anyone would willingly murder church goers. I remember Jews marching with blacks in peaceful protest against the apartheid like laws. Would Jews of today be willing to march with blacks? Would the Jews be welcomed by the blacks of today? Probably not.

What have we learned in the past 50 years? Not much, unfortunately. If LBJ's (not so)Great Society Program hadn't destroyed black families we might have had a real minority candidate for president instead of Obama, the communist, promising the world while defaulting on everyone of those promises once elected.

Absolutely. For starters, Wright's 'church' is not Christian! I don't care that a larger Protestant denomination has guiltily and stupidly subsumed Wright's organization under their umbrella: Black Liberation "Theology" is not Christian in any way, shape or form. And neither is Wright, nor are the Obamas.
