Dumbest Blogger Gets Even Stupider

Politics | Tue, Oct 28, 2008 at 5:01:30 pm PDT

The world’s dumbest leftist blogger puts his “scary racism” attack face on: To Attack Obama, Little Green Footballs Defends Segregation.

I’ll try to explain this to you, Olly, although I have no confidence you’ll understand the point, or acknowledge it even if you do.

First, your title is an outright lie. There was not one word of my post that “defended segregation.” Here’s what I wrote:

At about 15:30, Obama compares what was going on in the United States during the time of Brown vs. the Board of Education to ... Nazi Germany. Yes, really. Here’s the quote:

“...just to take a, sort of a realist perspective...there’s a lot of change going on outside of the Court, um, that, that judges essentially have to take judicial notice of. I mean you’ve got World War II, you’ve got uh, uh, uh, the doctrines of Nazism, that, that we are fighting against, that start looking uncomfortably similar to what we have going on, back here at home.”

There you have it. America is close to electing a President who compares his own country to Nazi Germany.

Not one word of that post defends segregation, and not a single comment from an LGF reader defends segregation.

The point is simple, and really not hard to understand unless you’re Oliver Willis: as bad as segregation was (and it was terrible), to compare America during the time of Brown vs. the BOE (when we were dismantling segregation) to genocidal Nazi Germany with its pogroms, death camps, and forced labor camps, and more than six million murders, is not just ludicrous and wrong, it is a morally bankrupt argument that verges on Holocaust denial.

Now watch Olly come back with another idiotic post calling me a racist for ... any old excuse he can make up. This is the kind of garbage that’s standard fare in the fever swamp blogosphere.

UPDATE at 10/28/08 9:31:34 pm:

Just as I predicted.

26 Charles  Tue, Oct 28, 2008 5:13:25pm

Media Matters must have put out the word on that post. There's another hit piece at the aptly-named "Crooks and Liars," but the web site won't load for me so I can't see what kind of disgustingly false accusations they're making.

27 tster  Tue, Oct 28, 2008 5:13:43pm

Can't ignore them because in Obamanation this will be proof of hate speech, which of course will no longer be protected under the first amendment.

28 zimriel  Tue, Oct 28, 2008 5:13:54pm

Hitler committed a lot more than six million murders. The six million is usually applied to Jews alone. The Roma ("gypsies") got it hard; and then there were a few million Poles, a few hundred thousand political prisoners, homosexuals, and on and on.

I agree with Jonah Goldberg though, that Wilson's America 1913-19 was comparable with Hitler's Germany at the eve of the Polish war (almost the same span of time: 1933-39). You know that race riot they had in Tulsa 1921? Imagine if Wilson hadn't had the stroke; based on his comments about black migrants out of the South ("white people are being colonised") and the pogroms of 1919 which killed hundreds, he would certainly have backed up the rioters with the American army. And by then Wilson had already invaded two neighbours: Mexico (1915) and Russia (1919).

But in the 1950s America had long "returned to normalcy". Truman and Ike had already reintegrated the federal government (undoing another one of Wilson's little gifts).

31 ArmyWife  Tue, Oct 28, 2008 5:14:49pm

This is incredible. The talk show hosts I was kvetching about (no, I didn't stop listening, its my own stupid fault) said Obama has a bit of a point here. NO HE DOESN'T! Segregation was bad. It was horrific even. It wasn't genocide.

The logic is astounding.
Holocaust = Bad,
Segregation = bad, therefore
Holocaust = Segregation.

Saying segregation is not on par with the holocaust does not mean you, me, anyone is supportive of segregation or discrimination on any level. It means we are able to analyze the situation and be able to discern the gray areas of two terrible (but not equally so) moments in history.

32 Charles  Tue, Oct 28, 2008 5:14:50pm

It's not an IQ problem, just extreme laziness. The party of slavery turned it's image around with government cheese 45 years ago and has coasted along answering every argument by calling opponents fat-cat racist sexist homophobes ever since...and promising government brie.

41 Sharmuta  Tue, Oct 28, 2008 5:16:27pm
The mental midgets of Little Green Footballs have gone so far in their defense of the indefensible that they would rather defend the concept of segregation - and maybe slavery too - in order for them to attack Sen. Obama.

I don't even know where to begin with this. I mean- calling Charles and the Lizards "mental midgets" for something we didn't even do is pretty rich.

You know, Sandman told me last night that I had no sense of degrees. It's clear that this is true times ten in application to the left. There's a very large difference in degrees between attacking a charge that segregation was morally equivalent to the HOLOCAUST (6 millions Jews EXTERMINATED like rats, not humans) and defending segregation.

Segregation was absolutely horrific, but it diminishes the value of the historical lesson offered by the Holocaust to equate it with the spectacularly inhumane crimes of the Nazi regime in Germany.

116 shiplord kirel  Tue, Oct 28, 2008 5:33:52pm

A McCain victory would be the worst setback for activist media since Goebbels shot himself.

So, Holocaust no worse than segregation? To deny this is to defend segregation, according to Olly. The Red/Brown alliance just might be trying to set the stage for another Holocaust by framing it as payback.

It is also possible that Olly really believes the two are equivalent. Many recent products of the hijacked American education system do believe that.
There is a professor of history at Texas Tech who states baldly that the internment of Japanese-Americans during World War 2 was "just as bad as what the Nazis did in Europe." This is not a paraphrase and it is not out of context, those are his exact words. "Just as bad as what the Nazis did" is in fact an absurdly common and moth-eaten cliche among undergrad analysts, a substitute for any genuine attempt to understand the facts of history.

Half a century of the Big Lie will be the undoing of the left, their actions and policies are based on the mythology they learned at the feet of leftist draft-dodgers who hijacked the system in the 60s. We see many examples of this already: the millions Hollywood lost on anti-war movies they confidently expected to be released in a world where a Saigon-style defeat in Iraq had already happened, the fatal confidence of jihadis who believe they can vanquish the US military "the way Vietnamese peasants" did, the arrogance and simple-mindedness of much European propaganda and of our enemies in general. Garbage in, garbage out. We are going to win this struggle and the bigoted, brainwashed, self-righteous media-slave enemy will have only themselves and their Goebbels-style mentors to blame.

143 spidly  Tue, Oct 28, 2008 5:39:54pm

re: #119 Ozark Mountain Daredevil

For those us unsure, what is the difference between a moby and a troll?

from the LGF dictionary available in Tools/Info

moby - An insidious and specialized type of left-wing troll who visits blogs and impersonates a conservative for the purpose of either spreading false rumors intended to sow dissension among conservative voters, or who purposely posts inflammatory and offensive comments for the purpose of discrediting the blog in question. The term is derived from the name of the liberal musician Moby, who famously suggested in February of 2004 that left-wing activists engage in this type of subterfuge: “For example, you can go on all the pro-life chat rooms and say you’re an outraged right-wing voter and that you know that George Bush drove an ex-girlfriend to an abortion clinic and paid for her to get an abortion. Then you go to an anti-immigration Web site chat room and ask, ‘What’s all this about George Bush proposing amnesty for illegal aliens?’” The strategy has been frequently attempted on LGF and elsewhere, but has not been nearly as effective as Moby envisioned, since false rumors are easily debunked by fact-checking minions, and cartoonishly extreme commenters often get immediately identified as mobys and banned from LGF.

troll - Unwelcome, offensive, stupid or abusive commenter on a blog, chat room, user group or BBS. Common Internet slang dating back to the early days of the Web in the ’90s and BBSs in the ’80s.

Again, he was speaking as a law professor here. “Realist” has a very specific meaning, referring to a legal movement prevalent in the first half of the twentieth century. One of the core tenets of the realist doctrine was, essentially, that the decisions of judges constitute the law, not the documents that purport to guide them. And initially, this was met with some interest, since it seemed to give a way around some of the more extremely formalist decisions of the late 19th/early 20th century courts

I noticed "legal realist" moron showed up with another "copy and paste," leaving the rest of the gawking Obamabots with tingles running up their legs. Even though they have no idea that "copy and paste" has no idea that his idea is irrelevant to the matter at hand.

Why would lefties continue to lie about statements that are still there for all to see? This is like a mental disease with them, a kind of Tourette Syndrome of epistemology. I see not just from bloggers but from rank and file lefties in letters to the editor and (naturally) all over the internet.

Misquoting or mis-characterizing opposition positions is their stock in trade. It was the chief weapon of enemy media during the Vietnam War for example. Example: Since the 60s lefty comedians have mocked the US Army for once declaring that a village had to be destroyed to save it. Today, we know that Vietcong agent-of-influence Peter Arnett made this up himself and attributed it to an American officer.

My hypothesis is that leftist discourse is still conditioned by the situation that prevailed before the internet, when a lie would stand if you could get it past a friendly editor. They are creatures of habit and hubris. This too will be part of their undoing.

It is another reason we have to keep the net free at any cost.

Because African-Americans are slowly moving into traditionally white neighborhoods or to the suburbs, black aldermen are finding it difficult to draw a new ward map that will preserve the current number of 20 majority black districts. Black political power has always relied on blacks being massed in segregated neighborhoods.

It is becoming clearer to black political leaders that the remap struggle promises to be replayed in the future if the city continues to diversify at near the pace of the 1990s. The issue also arises as the Hispanic population is increasing dramatically, leading to a push for more Latino wards.

"As long as we have hardened racial attitudes reflected in our voting patterns for minorities--to elect one of their own--they still need to have a substantial voting-age majority in neighborhoods and communities," observed state Sen. Barack Obama (D-Chicago). "And with incremental integration, we're finding this is harder to do."

I think equating one evil to another evil diminishes both. Segregation was it's own evil- one that was fought back and defeated in no small part thanks to republicans.

What's truly sad is the blind eye of the left being turned to the modern segregationists in our midst- the islamists. Nope- can't look at that! Because they're too busy demonizing their political opponents- you know- like the nazis did.

That's right, ollie- the fascists your Dear Leader was trying to denounce happens to be you. Because the fascists were more than just "segregationists" based on skin color. It was by far more than that. Anyone who did not toe the line was in danger of becoming a victim of the fascists. The enemy you seek is closer than you think- and you enable them every day, ollie.

No, not shocking. Tragic and heartbreaking, really. They really have no intellectual honesty or moral compass.

Actually, I think the hard left has no explanation or place for evil in their worldview. Thus, they resort to the same ol' descriptives -- Hitler, death camps, etc. Of course, they're right in the sense that these things were evil but they're using them in a foreign context as a synonym for evil.

Some think that religious individuals get stumped on evil's persistence or co-existence with a good, rational God. But non-religious individuals seem more stumped by evil, imho.

re: #177 buzzsawmonkey

Without defending segregation in any way, I must point out that some of the greatest artists of the American black community managed to flourish under it, and to inspire the world with their work. I am thinking primarily of the great musicians such as Ellington, Armstrong, Waller, Bechet, et. al., but there were many, many others.

What is more, their work was joyous and optimistic and, for the most part, patriotic.

Today the barriers these giants faced do not exist--yet, to hear the majority of black performers tell it, America is a grinding, repressive place, and the work in which they inform us of this fact is angry, negative, and defeatist. We will leave aside the irony of being told this by people who are wearing the equivalent of a day's output from a South African gold mine around their necks.

American blacks have 200+ year history as Americans--because slave importation to the United States ceased in the first decade of the 19th century. They have a 150-year history as free Americans; in this alone they have a longer history here than many Americans whose ancestors came here later. Much of this history is filled with stunning achievement, some of it achieved in the face of very ugly prejudice. Yet there is little genuine pride in this actual history; instead, for 40 years, the black community has filled itself up with grievance while concocting a faux-African identity that turns its back on this American story.

It is, in a way, fitting that the community that has been wandering for 40 years in a faux-African desert of its own making should choose a standard-bearer whose father was African, rather than someone who exemplifies the history and achievement of American blacks. It is fitting particularly because that standard-bearer is an overt radical leftist, and it is the radical leftists who, hijacking the civil rights movement 40 years ago, created that desert and that faux-African identity in the black community.

Excellent, BUZZ!

A SMALL CORRECTION 10 MILLION WERE MURDERED IN THE CAMPS 6 MILLION WERE JEWS BUT ROMANY WERE BUTCHERED IN THE 100,000'S i will have to look up the exact number. estimates of the number of gentiles murdered in the camps was estimated at around 4 million not to mention the millions of russian pow's, gov't workers and civilians who were also murdered by the nazi's but to be honest the soviets were just as bloody.

What's noteworthy to me is that the Dumbest Blogger didn't even bother to read the actual transcript of the interview to get some surrounding context. Because if he had, he wouldn't have had to make up shit about LGF defending segregation -- he could've, instead, argued that Charles was being somewhat unfair to Obama by leaving out a crucial piece of context:

There is a lot of change going on outside of the court that, you know, the judges, you know, have to take judicial notice of. I mean you have got WWII, you have got the doctrines of Naziism that we are fighting against that start to look uncomfortably similar to what is going on back here at home. You have got African-Americans that are returning home from the war with certain expectations: "Why is it that when I am not in uniform am denied more freedom here than I was in France or Italy?"

The italicized part is the portion not included in Charles' original excerpt, and I think that it somewhat mitigates the offensiveness of the part that immediately precedes it. And here's why:

"Look uncomfortably similar" in whose eyes? Do Obama's own eyes see a similarity between Nazi Germany and (today's) America, or is he simply saying that many people who were around in the days of segregation would have, at the time, seen similarities between the legal and institutional oppression of African-Americans and certain Nazi policies?

For the record, I suspect that Obama truly does believe that America is "a li'l bit Nazi," given the people he keeps company with. But I also think that the reference to African-American soldiers returning from WWII does establish that he was talking about the views of Americans in the immediate post-war era, and not necessarily about his own views.

235 NC State of Mind  Tue, Oct 28, 2008 5:58:32pm

I've been sitting here wondering: what would happen if a lie of this type was posted here at LGF or a blog of similar temperament. Someone here would immediately alert Charles that he was in error and it would be removed. Then I thought, even more ethically, I'm sure it would be left up with a correction underneath apologizing for the error. We don't stand for crap like that, even when it bashes the enemy that many of us loathe.

That got me thinking about our contrasting intelligence levels. Most of us, if we saw something fishy posted here would investigate, there, it is eaten up like by a starving man with not thought to truth. These bottom feeders latch on to this and can't see anything due to their blind hatred.

But, there is also an element of this that is more sinister. Oliver knows its a lie. For him, it is about a mob mentality. It is about a very powerful word, control. For him and his small time blog, he can incite a mob, harness there anger, and control a small mass. Through a lie. In the exact same way, Barack Obama can state his opponent is going to talk about the other faces on the dollar and his funny name and all that shit, when his opponent is simultaneously doing backflips to avoid playing the race card!

The result is the exact same in the micro and macro case: the masses are incited to anger, dissension is created, passions are fed, and the means to the end is more power and more control to the guys who use these abhorrent tactics.

These tactics must be used because the unwitting public must be fooled. If not, they could never get support for their shameful ideas.

It's stunning. Not only does he want segregated neighborhoods to continue, it's for the reason they can continue to elect representation based solely on race. And to what end? To enshrine socialist/marxist government policy? One could argue he's defending not just segregation, but racism and slavery to the state too.

During World War II, the Nazis murdered 200,000 to 800,000 Roma in an attempted genocide known as the Porajmos. Like the Jews, they were sentenced to forced labour and imprisonment in concentration camps. They were often killed on sight, especially by the Einsatzgruppen on the Eastern Front.

In Communist Eastern Europe, Roma experienced assimilation schemes and restrictions of cultural freedom. The Romany language and Romany music were banned from public performance in Bulgaria. In Czechoslovakia, where they were labeled a “socially degraded stratum,” Romani women were sterilized as part of a state policy to reduce their population. This policy was implemented with large financial incentives, threats against future social welfare payments, misinformation, and involuntary sterilization.(Silverman 1995; Helsinki Watch 1991)

Good news happened in my little world today. My best friend and co-worker, a die hard Democrat from a family of die hard Democrats, has changed her mind and IS NOT voting for Obama.

What did the trick ? (besides months of political conversations in an attitude of respect?)

The 2001 audio tape of Obama's interview on Public Radio that Charles posted here. I posted it at my site and since she visits it often, she saw the video and has decided that Obama is not who he claims to be.

Thank you Charles for passing this along. It changed at least one mind - a mind that I never thought would change.

If it has this effect on my friend, who has never voted Republican in her life, I can just imagine it is having a similar effect around the country.

It is too bad we can't dump all the Oliver's of the US into a Swedish style economy for a year or two. See how they like 40% of the population being at US poverty level and waiting weeks for a GP and years for a specialist.

1987 in Denmark
I washed dishes at min wage (ca. 10 bucks an hour) and paid the lowest marginal income tax rate of 49.5% - my first $170/month was tax free so I came out with a little under $900 a month
VAT was 25% effectively cutting my $900 to $675 - cigarettes 4 bucks, gas over 4 bucks, pair of 501's $80, bottle of beer at Irma $1.10, packet of Knorr soup powder 2 bucks, bus ticket 2 bucks.....

my money spent like it was only a couple few hundred back here

Could not rent anything, nearly all of that would have been taken if I were able to get into a dormitory 10'x10' style place with a shared bathroom and kitchen for 10-15 rooms... So I slept in the attic of Dragør Kro where I worked.

re: #181 Geepers

Who would defend segregation?

Obama, that's who:

Chicago Tribune
October 24, 2001

This is a tenet of Black Liberation Theology, taught by the church Obama attended for 20 years: black people who pursue "middle-classness" are harming the movement.

[Link: www.trinitychicago.org...]

Disavowal of the Pursuit of "Middleclassness." Classic methodology on control of captives teaches that captors must be able to identify the "talented tenth" of those subjugated, especially those who show promise of providing the kind of leadership that might threaten the captor's control. Proverbs 3:13-14 - Happy are those who find wisdom and those who gain understanding, for her income is better than silver and her revenue better than gold.

Those so identified are separated from the rest of the people by:

Killing them off directly, and/or fostering a social system that encourages them to kill off one another.

Placing them in concentration camps, and/or structuring an economic environment that induces captive youth to fill the jails and prisons.

Seducing them into a socioeconomic class system which, while training them to earn more dollars, hypnotizes them into believing they are better than others and teaches them to think in terms of "we" and "they" instead of "us."

So, while it is permissible to chase "middleclassness" with all our might, we must avoid the third separation method - the psychological entrapment of Black "middleclassness." If we avoid this snare, we will also diminish our "voluntary" contributions to methods A and B. And more importantly, Black people no longer will be deprived of their birthright: the leadership, resourcefulness and example of their own talented persons.

Obama Votes Present on U.S. Attack on al Qaeda in Syria

Obama says that the United States should strike at al Qaeda in Pakistan without the consent of the Pakistani government. So, he favors attacking al Qaeda in Pakistan, but presumably not in Syria, even though al Qaeda thrives in Syria not because of lawlessness (as in Pakistan) but because the group enjoys the hospitality of the Syrian government. Maybe if the Pakistani government began openly collaborating with al Qaeda, Obama would withdraw his support for military strikes.

If Obama was consistent, he would applaud the Syrian operation. His silence on the matter indicates otherwise. You’d think there were a few curious journalists out there who might wish to get him on the record about all of this…

I emailed the Obama campaign yesterday asking if they would issue a statement on the attack, and I received no response. Perhaps the mainstream press would prefer that Obama not have to take a position on a controversial foreign policy matter just days before voters have the opportunity to make him our commander in chief.

The media and pop-left will treat this election as a triumph, a complete vindication of everything they have lied, fought, whored and terrorized for since the 1960s. Obama hasn't won yet and even if he does it will be no such thing.

Consider:
-The hottest media candidate since JFK is hard-pressed to defeat a media-clumsy 72 year-old insider from the same party as the discredited incumbent.
-We have not yet lost the bitter war in Iraq, despite many errors and misjudgments by the current administration and a constant barrage of defeatist propaganda from an enormous and well-established anti-war industry. In fact, by any rational (ie pre-60s) standard, we have won that war.

With the Obama victory as a perceived mandate, though, the left will try to turn its flawed mythology into policy and practice, with disastrous results. In particular, any attempt by a government/MSM alliance to capitalize by actively suppressing the dissident media will produce a cataclysmic backlash, one that could compress the collapse of the media-left from decades to a few short weeks.

One reason I like this blog: Unlike many on the right, Charles is willing to stand up for evolution and science. This is crucial, because it is evolutionary pressure that dooms our enemies. They are stupid and arrogant, they believe their own lies, and they will pay the price. It isn't just a good idea, it is the law.

re: #300 TheMatrix31

I guess just because Gallup had it at like, 10 points the last time I checked a Gallup poll.

It's great news!

There are THREE gallup polls now. The only one worth looking at is the "traditional gallup" which can be compared to past gallup polls of presidential elections. The traditional gallup uses a historical spread between D and R -- about 3 to 4 percent, max. The other polls assume a huge, ahistorical Dem turnout of +7 or +8, which is highly unlikely.

In 2004, a pretty tough year for Republicans, Dems were +2 over Reps -- in 2006, a horrible year for Repubs, they were +3.

so why the heck some polls are jiggering their numbers so that they represent a +14 (pew) or slightly less such as +8? I really don't know.

November fourth is going to be a wake-up call for the lousy pollsters (who are really Obama partisans cloaked in the garb of statistics.)

re: #330 hermeneutics

Thanks for the info. So the one that's +2 has used more of a "proven" system over the years?

But ask yourself, seriously, who is the better leader to ease tensions and bring Americans back together - Obama or McCain?

McCain has always been a middle of the road guy. No one on the left hated him until he won the nomination. Heck even the media adored him until about six months ago.

Obama has always been way far out there in left field, surrounded by racists, crooks, and communist radicals. His task will be much harder.

Kind of off topic but it has struck me as weird that Obama has never touted the benefits of Hard Work. Has he ever said a person is entitled to what he earns? I can't think of any time he said anything of that nature..

I guess that's the mentality of the Urban Arm Twisters... Ooops I mean ACORN... Oooops that might be racist too.... damn I guess I better Shut up before the Obama camp "Plumbers" me.

372 lawhawk  Tue, Oct 28, 2008 6:19:53pm

I'm sorry, but who exactly is Oliver Willis and why should any of us care whether this person displays any sense of reading comprehension. After all, he's like many other Obama supporters engaging in cognitive dissonance. What makes him any different than the multitude of other people who will utter the magic words "racism" the moment anyone declares that Obama has done something wrong in his life or exhibits a trait that someone finds displeasing - you know, like hanging out with terrorists, racists, and anti-American leftists?

Ah, I've found it. He's considered to have an audience, and can spread his vapors to the minions who think that he's pontificating from on high.

Right.

Here's a memo. He's just got an opinion - and it's wrong. He fails on reading comprehension, and if he gets that basic issue wrong, you should be wondering just what else he gets wrong, and how often he gets things wrong.

Thanks for the info. So the one that's +2 has used more of a "proven" system over the years?

Yup. The way I see it is this: For the past five or six elections (back to Reagan in 1984) the spread or difference between those who said they were Republican and those who were Democratic was about THREE percent. It never got higher than four percent and one year it was zero percent (tied).

I suppose this could be the weird, ahistoric election, but that would be bucking history. My hunch is that this election is like all others, with a Democratic advantage of +3.

If you assume that there are +3 more Dems than Repubs, and go back and multiply your dataset by this difference, McCain looks pretty good.

In fact, he's winning.

Even the lefties don't believe in evolution. The do everything in their power to keep the dumb and lazy from deaths door.

Hey, and its pretty cheap, too. I wish I lived near Chicago. I'd bring a good camera with a hefty zoom, eat and film.

As a little girl, my father used to take me to Berkeley to watch the hippies. (I had the choice of Berkeley or the zoo. I preferred Berkeley, the human zoo.) The hippies would pee in the gutters, have nude weddings in GG park, and do drug-induced dances. And they really were stinky!

My father would hold my hand tightly and whisper in my ear, "This is what happens when civil society disintegrates."

I had no idea what civil society was but I still hear his words in my mind.

434 big steve  Tue, Oct 28, 2008 6:31:21pm

I read the post that started this thread. As I often find, people do not really do their research much. To be honest, I love this blog for reasons much different than the general political philosophy. I find that Charles is one of the best bloggers in the world in terms of graphics, technology, and monitoring of the site. To be a regular on this site one has to use restraint with all the freedom that is given. I like that fact that this site is geopolitically conservative but not anti science. I think that it would drive me crazy, as it does the big lizard, when someone typecasts the site.

However, I will note, that I also occasionally read KOS. I find their politics far more hateful than LGF. However occasionally, particularly on local elections and on electoral college items, there is some insight as well. However I draw the line at just reading over their and don't ever post. So germs you just can't wash off.

446 Gus 802  Tue, Oct 28, 2008 6:33:44pm

Charles is correct in his assessment that "Not one word of that post defends segregation, and not a single comment from an LGF reader defends segregation."

Given that, I assume the blogger's logical fallacy is that if one rejects Obamas comparison of the 3rd Reich with American segregation than they are by default defending segregation. Obama's original assessment is a wild departure given that the 3rd Reich went well beyond "enslavement and subjugation" of races and psychological classes including a systematic plan and operation for the genocidal liquidation of said people.

Once again we find that when if the subject involves the liberal outlook on things if you do not adhere to the standard orthodoxy you are subject to irrational conclusions from the left. Finally, I see no proof or examples in said his blog illustrating his charge of supporting segregation.

Their segregationist policies are however not what the NSDAP were, and are, best known for. Industrialization of murder, is. When someone makes a facile comparison like Obama did, it trivializes the Nazis' far greater crimes.

Yes, but -- in the context of that radio interview, he certainly didn't belabor the segregation=Nazism comparison, did he? So there's no point in us belaboring it, either.

On the other hand, he has based much of his career and success on belaboring a different point to his constituents: "You are oppressed by other people's unfairness and by the failure of government to pull you up by your bootstraps."

I wonder if Gallup takes into consideration the large numbers of PUMA crossovers and Democrats for McCain?

What Obama may have gained by highly suspicious actions by groups like ACORN - it was announced that of the 1.3 million ACORN registrations, over 400k had been disqualified - he has more than lost by furious Hillary voters.

He doesn't have 85-90 percent of democrats voting for him, I'm sure. If he only has 70 percent of dems, and McCain has 85-90 percent of repubs, then the evening of November 4 will be a five bag night (in terms of popcorn consumption)

My son in law is union. I cannot get him to break with his union and vote for McCain. Believe me I have tried. He's nice about it, but he still buys into that whole 'the Democrat is the party of the little guy' thing.

I know, I know. I have tried every argument there is.

Well tell him that if Obama gets in, his next union vote will not be secret. So when he votes he'd better be on the side that's watching. Oh and also, he'd better be ready to give them his money.

Perhaps not. But it, like his answer to Joe the Plumber, was a revealing glimpse into his thought process. And it ain't pleasant.

In theory, they'll come out in the mix. If you sample correctly with the appropriate distribution of R and D's, they'll show up in the correct percentages as D's that support McCain.

That said, none of the samples are "right" so they might be in there or maybe not. Pick your poison.

Fact check please.....
McCain Funded Work Of Palestinian His Campaign Hopes To Tie To Obama

During the 1990s, while he served as chairman of the International Republican Institute (IRI), McCain distributed several grants to the Palestinian research center co-founded by Khalidi, including one worth half a million dollars.

A 1998 tax filing for the McCain-led group shows a $448,873 grant to Khalidi's Center for Palestine Research and Studies for work in the West Bank. (See grant number 5180, "West Bank: CPRS" on page 14 of this PDF.)

The relationship extends back as far as 1993, when John McCain joined IRI as chairman in January. Foreign Affairs noted in September of that year that IRI had helped fund several extensive studies in Palestine run by Khalidi's group, including over 30 public opinion polls and a study of "sociopolitical attitudes."

re: #439 JD1962

I don't understand it, either. I can see blacks voting for his skin color. I think that is wrong, but I understand it. That will get about 10% of the vote. Where does he make up the 40% or so that he needs to win? Absolute moonbats might get him another 10%. Where does he pick it up? I don't think the America haters have the numbers to put him over the top. Yellow dog Democrats who are going to vote for this yellow dog because he has a D after his name? That could get him maybe another 20%, but there's also going to be people who are in more than one of these groups, so this won't get you to 40% total.

I anticipate massive amounts of voter fraud, but I don't see where that will be able to deliver the numbers as a measure of the popular vote. They could possibly tip a razor close State from one camp to the other, but as a practical matter they wouldn't know what States to do this in. And every attempt raises the possibility of getting caught. Maybe they don't give a rat's ass, but imagine what damage would be done if Obama just barely squeaked it out and it then came out that his win was based on illegal votes.

That would be nastier than the 2000 election. Either way the courts decide, I think, would result in violence.

With all of that, I don't see where Obama can get the votes to win the election. There are lesser lights running for President, but I don't see Bob Bar or Nader being significant like the Perot faction was in 1992.

If the Obamanation wins I expect to have a world-class hangover. For the next four years...

Some people just want to be the little guy.

I have a lib friend that always wants to talk politics. I always think I've converted him and then he'll watch some episode of the Care Bears or something that totally changes his whole world view. Today he calls me up to gloat that he's been officially laid-off and he can finally achive his dream of unemployment checks. He thinks he's already jumping on the Obama gravy train and has nothing to worry about if he votes Obama.

Great Merciful Zeus! The biggest Eeyore we know just told us McCain will win!

We had to share this with you, because we never thought this would happen, but the biggest Eeyore in our lives just called us to say he was feeling really good, and that McCain would win next week.

We wish we could express to you what this means: this man was seriously the inspiration for “Eeyores” to begin with. He is what made us first think of the term, and first rail against it way back in our primaries. This guy got sucked into the MSM Obama propaganda machine the day after Super Tuesday and never came out again — and honestly he took down about 30 of our best volunteers, phone bankers, and canvassers with his gloom and doom Eeyore attitude.

He’s been very quiet since, but every now and again he raised his head to tell us how we were wasting our time and that Obama was inevitable and we were stupid to put ourselves on the line fighting a lost cause. Wa-waaaaaah! EEYORE ALERT! EEYORE ALERT!

We even sent him a big 1-800 Flowers Eeyore bouquet that we asked the florist to drown in a big bucket of water to make all nice and soggy (which the florist, strangely, would not do). The guy was impossible to deal with.

Well, it seems the last two days he’s been in Pennsylvania. And he’s been running numbers on PA and OH, independent of us — and he came to the same conclusion we did. If we all work really hard on PA and OH, we’re going to win this for McCain/Palin.

Brace yourself for this: but this Eeyore now things we’re going to pull Iowa out too. He’s been looking at internals and says Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, and Dubuque aren’t pulling in big enough leads for Obama to take the state.

We disagree with him on Iowa because we still can’t see how McCain wins the Hawkeye State with his opposition to ethanol. McCain’s right to oppose ethanol, because ethanol is only good for large Iowa agri-conglomerates: but it, in our opinion, cost him the state. We’re actually really proud of McCain for that, because unlike Obama McCain doesn’t pander.

But, Chief Eeyore disagrees with us on that.

The only thing we can liken this to is if you knew the real life Dracula and one day he called you up and said not only had he given up drinking blood and murdering people, but asked you to guess what he was doing at that moment, and then told you he was skipping naked through the sun at the Omaha Garlic Festival.

THAT’S what it’s like talking to Chief Eeyore and hearing him say he now believes McCain/Palin will win this.

He also hinted something to us about that Khalidi tape, and the Punch #3 we’ve suspected is coming.

Chief Eeyore says to count on it - and that’s why his soggy little rainclouds have given way to the sun…and glorious garlic powered vampire flavored nudity!

Never thought it would happen! So thrilled it did!

608 formercorpsman  Tue, Oct 28, 2008 6:59:42pm
I love this country second to none, but we do a disservice to ourselves if we truly try to pretend as if for hundreds of years America wasn’t a willing participant in the enslavement and subjugation of people. Particularly in the era Sen. Obama was discussing, America was part of the greatest liberation of all time, but we did so with a military segregated by race. We simply were not practicing what we preached.

I don't think anyone is pretending this never happened. In fact, quite the opposite. We all know it happened. This country paid a heavy price for previous ills.

We had a civil war which decimated our populous for some time. We are looking to get beyond this. No matter what we do, there will always be people who hate, we know you can't legislate morality. It is not just reserved for people with fair skin. If there was some magical way to impose this, Chicago would not be on her four hundredth death now.

Allowing society to try and move forward, minus the yoke, eliminates too many people making too much money from the perpetual grievance theater.

This is a gravy train.

Not exactly OT -- this is good.

"Flippers." (emphasis mine)

Liberals--or I could say Democrats, since the terms are now synonymous--are fun to watch because they're so un-self aware. They switch positions on a dime whenever it serves their political purposes and always consider themselves to be standing on the high moral ground. Of course that's where they thought they were standing before they changed positions.

This phenomenon has gotten quite a workout since Democrats captured Congress in 2006. And its gathered momentum in recent months now that Democrats have a chance to win the White House and large majorities in Congress, including a filibuster-proof Senate.

Go read the whole thing. I think you'll like it.

He doesn't want to sell it unless he's here in person, and I have no argument against that.

Should I wait it out until then, or just buy one as I was going to until he made the offer? Price difference wasn't too much, and I'd have to do a bit to civillianize his anyway.

Almost every night, my wife will yell down at me to be quiet. 99% of the time, it was something sarcastic I read here that is responsible.

I've noted that there are quite a few blacks who have been so mis-educated about America that they really do believe it is one of the worst countries ever, and they really do compare it to Nazi Germany. They have a very distorted picture of America.

Frankly, if I were to accept all of the out of context history taught in America I think I'd believe the same thing. Postmodernists push the America is evil mantra daily. This is my way of saying the guy is probably being honest, but has been mis-educated.

This is probably why so many blacks support Obama. They think that there is some sort of Shangri-La on the other side of his election that will undermine evil America and make it good. Well, if he gets elected they will be greatly disappointed.

America is the greatest country in the world, and I say in the history of the world, and somehow postmodernists have been able to vilify it, to their ever lasting shame.

Fact check please.....
McCain Funded Work Of Palestinian His Campaign Hopes To Tie To Obama

Maverick?

This was in the mid to late 90's when the situation was very much more hopeful than it is today. The money was for polls and opinion studies - big deal! Obama has a long sweet relationship with Khalidi, funneling money from the organization he ran with Ayers to Khalidi and getting campaign contributions in return.

PS: You somehow forgot to mention this is from the Huffington Post.

Did you notice last weekend that almost all of the College Football coaches were wearing armbands with an insignia of a little green football? Kinda threw me for a loop. Turns out its a fund raiser for muscular dystrophy called Coach to Cure. I bet it drove all the football fan Kos Kids nuts seeing that all day.

Haven't had enough time to read much LGF so sorry if this short Penn & Teller video on Obama's Tax Plan has already been posted here:

[Link: www.youtube.com...]

Good one! If Charlie Gibson, a major liberal affirms that dropping the tax rate raises revenues, raising the tax rate lowers revenues, who is going to argue with this? And the thing is this: If you lower revenues, Senator Obama, won't that make less funds available to help the poor? So not only do the rich get more taken from them, but now, you admit that the poor will get less also? Is this the "fairness" you speak of?

A segregated toilet is like Dachau?

A "white's only" sign is "Arbeit Mach Frei"?

The moral [imbecile] equivalency education system has clearly reduced millions of minds to mush.

Those who vilify America do so by omitting or highly editing the history of other countries. America's revolution began the real process of individual rights and rule by the people. Left to other countries, the world would still be wallowing under crushing monarchys, and the lot of the African would be worse than a Jew in Dachau.

America took the bull by the horns and began the painstaking process of major cultural change. NO one else did, nor did it look like they wanted to. America still leads today. Who does the world look to to address atrocities around the world? Russia? China? France? Come on! We are the world! We are a country based on an evolving idea - not a race - not even a"people", we are, by principle, everybody. The lack of perfection, the interference of evil - hardly call for a surrender to the bitter and the evil who, really, simply want "revenge" on those who choose to improve their lives.

well you know what
fuck the left

how many times have I recalled living in GA in the early 70's under Jimmah Carter when we had segregation

separate bathrooms and water fountains at school (public) for blacks and whites

blacks sat on the back of the bus and lived in shanties that would make Tijuana blush

and prayer in fucking public school, every fucking day

yeah, democrats are such racist hypocrites
it amazes me to this day
the memories are seared into my mind

I shuould get a medal for surviving 3 years of Carter hell

Exactly, legalpad. And the first step was intellectually realizing that men should be free. John Locke's theory of rights were crucial to establishing that slavery is wrong.

I had never heard the word 'pogroms' before. At first I thought it was a typo. I had to look it up. Learn something new everyday here ;)

Just for your further edification, it's from Russian, and it breaks up as po/grom. (Also, it's stressed on the second syllable, sounding like: "pug-ROAM".)

The root grom means "thunder" or "a roaring noise" while the prefix po- often implies "a not-too-large amount" or, with verbs, "happening for a not-too-long duration."

Put them together and you get "just a bit of noisemaking" -- as in, "we're only gonna scare the Yids a little, not do anything really bad to them."

This is the kind of garbage that’s standard fare in the fever swamp blogosphere.

No, it's just a standard tactic of political warfare.

Let me show you how it's done.

"Olly is a racist and thinks the Jews deserved their fate in Nazi Germany."

See how easy it is to make stuff up?

I have made 2 separate comments on his blog telling him not only to stop lying, but that doing so only makes him less believable. & I also told him to learn English (what the heck is "walk back" supposed to mean? I suppose it has something to do w/"backpedal".). My comments are "awaiting moderation", so we'll have to see.

3/5 of a person. When somebody can explain why that wasn’t a flaw in the original constitution, I’ll eat my keyboard.

All men are created equal, except for those n……

I see this 3/5 of a person argument in his comments more than a couple of times. The actual amendment is: "...Representatives and direct Taxes shall be apportioned among the several States which may be included within this Union, according to their respective Numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole Number of free Persons, including those bound to Service for a Term of Years, and excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons."

That means three out of every five slaves. Not that slaves count as 3/5 of a person. There is a difference. This was done for tax purposes and to elect representatives.

Now for Ollies readers that come in here, this isn't in defense of anything, merely to explain the difference. That time frame is bad enough without fabricating new reasons.

690 Yashmak  Wed, Oct 29, 2008 1:39:13pm
The comments are even more outrageous

- #2 Sharmuta

No kidding. I posted a comment there, noting that no objective reading of the subject article could have rendered the notion that Charles was defending segregation. My comment has been roundly ignored since I posted it there (although, at least it's not still on moderator hold).

Those folks are busy trying to one-up each other over bad things that have happened in this nation in the past. . .sometimes over 2 centuries ago. . . as if whoever can come up with the worst thing in our nation's past somehow wins. I fail to see how most of their commentary relates in any way to the original post that Oliver attacked.

Then, even funnier, a commentor there remarks that when anyone disagrees here, we immediately descend into name calling. Apparently the commentor failed to read the very commentary he or she was posting in, as it's full of . . .wait for it. . .folks calling LGF readers names.
