Yeah, Vietnam, unlike popular belief is still a communist country with all of the typical propagandist behavior.
If they are going to second guess McCain they might as well throw in Stockdale, Day, and the rest of the POWs. I guess "The Bug" was just a conspiracy theory created to pass the time.
It does fit in with a liberal mentality however and the lunatic left well eat this up. They might even use it in their future revisionist history lessons.

It's 3 a.m. and the Prime Minister of Israel is Calling
Israel now is surrounded by tens of thousands of missiles, provided by Iran to Syria, Hezbollah and Hamas. Syria is known to have the largest chemical weapons stockpile in the Middle East, and both Syria and Iran are known to be developing nuclear capabilities. Among the likely scenarios for the next crisis is a massive surprise attack on Israel, possibly involving unconventional weapons. In choosing a President, supporters of Israel need to ask themselves who they most trust to answer the phone at the White House in the middle of the night when the Prime Minister of Israel calls.

To pick up where Vet left off on McCain's winning margin estimates:
7 pnts from Bradley Effect, 3 pnts for pollster bias = McCain Landslide. – Vet_Missing_parts (1LT, Ret) #6
See: Vet's prediction on the general vote
I would agree.
Here is my thinking by election day:
6 pts from Bradley Effect, 2 pts for the under-count of the military/military community vote, 3 for the pollster bias and the infamous “margin of error” bias, minus 1 point for “early exit polls shows Obama wins so don’t bother to vote on election day" trick and minus 1 for actually ACORN fraud. That is 9 pts for McCain ahead in popular vote.
But, at the electoral vote level, I say is about 271 to 275 (it takes 270 to win) for McCain's probable win.
To recap the importance of the military vote:
This adds to my theory of the Military vote being the key variable [from comment on post in Iowahawk thread].
[Post in Americanthinker]
I'm a defense contractor at Ft. Bragg NC for the annual Special Operations Exposition and watched MY 82nd Airborne Choir sign [sing] at the opening ceremony this morning. You wonder, what does that have to do with the election? I'll tell you, if the rest of America heard what I heard from MY SOLDIERS (I'm retired Army and still serving!) you would not even question who to vote for, an honorably retired Naval officer or someone who has never even been in the boy scouts! You choose America and let me tell you...
See American thinker comments: Posted by: Spacelink Oct 28, 07:29 PM
Or see: Signs Pointing To A McCain Victory and click comments at bottom of page
[The military vote factor post]
With the military votes proper allocated to a battle ground state, say PA, I think McCain would win.
Here are some back of the envelope numbers:
Active military personnel 1.44 million
Reserve military personnel 0.848 million
Total 2.28 million
Military Dependents: .938 million
Those alone could swing the election.
[Military Times Poll]
Percent: McCain / Obama
Overall 68 23
Army 68 23
Navy 69 24
Air Force 67 24
Marines 75 18
Retirees 72 20
White Non-Hispanic 76 17
Hispanic 63 27
Black/African-American 12 79
Enlisted 67 24
Officers 70 22
See: Military Times poll
See: Military Times PDF file
Estimated number of Estimated Numbers of U.S. Veterans in Civil Life
6,231 (in thousands)
Then you can add in the Military Contractors of all strips and their families.
To what extent do the “polls” reflect of this? It is unknown. But, I would guess they under-count military personnel.
It is very possible that McCain will win the election.

I would imagine total destruction of a nuclear state as a goal would not be in the best interests of any collection of nations. Exactly. Makes you wonder what he's really hiding. Lot of stuff out there that we know about, so it makes me wonder if there's something that he doesn't want anyone to know about.
/for example he's only smoke and mirrors, especially for the left.
All I've read is speculation that his drug use is the reason why he will not release his medical records because they would show some problem related to his drug use. And you're correct- His whole campaign has been smoke and mirrors. He's hiding something.

Obscure reference: Richard Garriot, the American who just returned from outer space, used to hold a mean Halloween night party every year at his place every year, a modern castle in Austin. One year, a disturbed individual returned after two days to complete whatever surreal journey Richard had set up, thinking it was a real quest for some treasure or something. Richard held him at bay with an Uzi until the cops arrived.
They gave him "permission" (over the phone) to shoot if he felt threatened.

Searching on Eve Rosahn found this interesting post:
oh my god - ayers… the bombings… I think he was there. I think Obama may have been there.Eve Rosahn - her car was the get away car - the car was registered to her. She and Obama were friends at Columbia. Eve’s mom was Sonya Staff (THE Sonya Staff).
From Dreams From My Father (the father we now believe to be Frank Marshall Davis) and other sources we know that Obama was interested in South Africa divestment in the early 80’s.
At Occidental College Obama gave a well-received speech to kick off an anti-apartheid demonstration. He maintained anti-apartheid interest while at Columbia.
A major focal point of the anti-apartheid movement in the fall of 1981 was the Springboks rugby tour - they were an integrated South African rugby team on a “goodwill” tour of the US, creating controversy and drawing protests everywhere. Some of the protests were violent, including one at John F. Kennedy Airport and bombs were exploded.
The Weather Underground was involved with the Brinks robbery which left two police officers and a security guard dead. The Black Liberation Army was linked to bombings as well. The Brinks robbery was undertaken in order to finance the Springboks bombings.
Here is Eve (owned one of the get away cars) in her own words:
Eve S. Rosahn, Personal Narrative
Submitted via email, April 25, 2000
In 1970 I was part of a NYC organization called the December 4th Movement (D4M), which was organizing support for the New York Panther 21 (ultimately acquitted after a lengthy trial charging them with conspiracy etc.) D4M was focused on forcing specific institutions in NYC to offer bail or other monetary support as reparations for the exploitation of Black people. I was at Columbia University (the District Attorney prosecuting the Panther 21 — Frank Hogan — was a Columbia trustee), and Columbia had gotten an injunction against any type of demonstrations on campus — which we, of course, broke immediately. On May 5, a number of us were in court, having been arrested for contempt of court for breaking the injunction. I can remember that the CU attorneys, from a giant corporate firm, walked into court expecting we would all get a serious fine and some jail time.
The judge could only shake his head and say “they’re killing our children,” as he let us off with $100 fines!
there’s more… this is just the tip of the iceberg

For the most part I think it's still a toss up given the numbers. Zogby has Obama ahead by 2% which is at the same point it had Kerry ahead by 2% in 2004.
Now is not the time to exhibit cynicism in the election.

• It won't matter if he raises capital gains taxes, because nobody will have capital gains anyway.

Freepers
When we first met, Obama and I had a nice conversation about speeches and writing, and at the end of the meeting I handed him a pocket-sized bottle of Grey Poupon mustard so he wouldn’t have to ask staff if it was okay to put it on his hamburger. At the bottom of the bottle was the logo for “The South Beach Diet” and he snapped, “Oh so you read People magazine.” He seemed to think that I was commenting on his bathing suit picture.I helped with his announcement speech and others. I worked in the Senate when he was in D.C. One day after a hearing on Darfur, we were walking back to the office. I was still hobbling from a very bad ankle injury and in a very kind and gentle way he offered his arm when we approached the stairs. But later in debate preps and phone conversations and meetings, I realized that I had made a mistake. I didn’t belong. No matter how hard I tried, my heart wasn’t in it anymore.

I would not be surprised if that is target #1.
On the opposite side, Pakistani nukes are low yield, North Korea has trouble even launching missiles and Iran fakes most of their intel, so I don't think it would come by missile; probably fighter, container, boat or trucked in.

A summation:
[Link: www.thedailybeast.com...]
I was dead wrong about the surge and thought it would be a disaster. Senator John McCain led when many of us were ready to quit. Yet we march on as if nothing has changed, wedded to an old plan, and that too is a long way from the Democratic Party.
I can no longer justify what this party has done and can’t dismiss the treatment of women and working people as just part of the new kind of politics. It’s wrong and someone has to say that. And also say that the Democratic Party’s talking points—that Senator John McCain is just four more years of the same and that he’s President Bush—are now just hooker lines that fit a very effective and perhaps wave-winning political argument…doesn’t mean they’re true. After all, he is the only one who’s worked in a bipartisan way on big challenges.
Before I cast my vote, I will correct my party affiliation and change it to No Party or Independent. Then, in the spirit of election 2008, I’ll get a manicure, pedicure, and my hair done. Might as well look pretty when I am unemployed in a city swimming with “D’s.”Whatever inspiration I had in Chapel Hill two years ago is gone. When people say how excited they are about this election, I can now say, “Maybe for you. But I lost my home.”

I don't see a lot of Obama stickers except in => LA.
I see more McCain stickers than Obama stickers south of the 91 and west of the 605. That would be some parts of LA County, all of Orange County, Riverside County and San Bernardino County, and San Diego County.
Just my observation.
I got to get back to work.
I was just reading an observation from someone in the upper west side of New York (this was most likely on Hillbuzz somewhere). They mention that this is well-known as a democrat stronghold. The person remembers Gore signs everywhere during the 2000 election, and even more Kerry signs and buttons at every turn during the 2004 election.
The person writing this up goes on to note that he has seen relatively few 0bama signs and buttons around his neighborhood.

Yikes! 50/41 for McCain? Would that it were true. There would have to have been a complete meltdown of the polling industry for this to be true. Various lizards have cited some evidence for this, but we shall see.
One thing I do know: If McCain pulls it out in spite of polls and media hostility, moonbat heads will explode all over the world. Riots in certain areas are a certainty, and the long-term consequences would include a major boost for the conspiracy industry.
Could our media and academic elites be this wrong? I think they are and, in defense of that position, we can find many examples of the supposed intelligentsia of a country being completely, outrageously wrong. In the late 19th century, for example, academic elites in the west believed that material progress had eliminated the threat of large-scale war among the industrialized nations. At the same time, very few elitists, in the press or academia either one, questioned the prevailing racist and sexist assumptions of the time. In fact, academics in several fields were the driving force behind racism in many ways, at one point developing a kind of pseudo-science of not just racial, but national characteristics. The former is discredited everywhere, but the latter persists all over the world in the elitist-driven hatred of the United States and its culture and people.

I agree that riots will be prevalent. See Watts and the OJ stuff to get an idea, IMHO. I think his polling is likely more accurate: getting others from outside Dem strongholds like Manhattan, Seattle, etc. It would also explain, as the HCF poster said, why Obama is making Al Gore's head explode crossing the country in the jet. Why would he need to be in PA at all at this point?

I'm used to standing alone in my opinions, as a pro-American capitalist in Amsterdam, as a Bush supporter in New York and now here as a frustrated Giuliani/Palin/McCain supporter trying to inject some realism and sense of urgency.
I don't know your background. But you need to think back to an accomplishment in your past that was out of reach, that you were successful at attaining.
Something just out of grasp to the point of failure - and reeled in.
Have faith.
That's what we do here.
(in our own special ways)

I'm not going by the poll numbers, but by what I know about education in the last four decades, how the media works, how urban 20/30-somethings think, what's going on in Europe, etc.
Not sure if you're aware of this, but WE ARE NOT EUROPE!
We are the United States of America, and we follow no other country in determining what is best for us.
Even if it is the "wisdom" of the media.

Why indeed? Penn's in play and the polls don't mean squat.

my latest evil tactic for dealing with Obamatrons.....
i live in an upscale part of the Valley, but i usually look like someone drug me through the hedge, because i just don't care and i'm a lazy baastid.
when i encounter one of the herd, via bumpersticker, shirt or button, i just go up and ask them for whatever spare cash they have, since it's obvious that they have more than i do, and their leader wants to redistribute things so that everything is fair........ if they're in the car and i'm driving my beater truck, i ask them if we can trade, since it's obvious that i deserve something better.
the looks i get are priceless, and more than one has gone into a spluttering rage, which only gets worse when i point out that this is only the stated policy of the guy they support. i then walk away laughing at them. %-)

Way back when I used to be an Air Traffic Controller at Jacksonville enroute center. When we got an SR-71 for the 5 or 6 blips going across our screen, we always tried to get them to tell us their altitude. At the time it was classified. So... we would state "Aspen 20, say altitude." Like clock work their response was always the same. "Jax Center we are well above all visible traffic." Then two blips later they were gone.
Thanks for the Memories!

re: #324 rancher
SR-71, A-10, and F-22. Is this a great country or what?
In his book, Sled Driver, SR-71 Blackbird pilot Brian Shul writes: "I'll always remember a certain radio exchange that occurred one day as Walt (my backseater) and I were screaming across Southern California, 13 miles high. We were monitoring various radio transmissions from other aircraft as we entered Los Angeles airspace. Though they didn't really control us, they did monitor our movement across their scope. I heard a Cessna ask for a readout of its groundspeed."
"90 knots" Center replied.
"Moments later, a Twin Beech required the same."
"120 knots," Center answered.
"We weren't the only ones proud of our groundspeed that day as almost instantly an F-18 smugly transmitted, 'Ah, Center, Dusty 52 requests groundspeed readout.'
"There was a slight pause, then the response, 525 knots on the ground, Dusty".
"Another silent pause. As I was thinking to myself how ripe a situation this was, I heard a familiar click of a radio transmission coming from my backseater. It was at that precise moment I realized Walt and I had become a real crew, for we were both thinking in unison." "Center, Aspen 20, you got a groundspeed readout for us?"
There was a longer than normal pause.... "Aspen, I show 1,742 knots"
"No further inquiries were heard on that frequency"
In another famous SR-71 story, Los Angeles Center reported receiving a request for clearance to FL 60 (60,000ft).
The incredulous controller, with some disdain in his voice, asked, "How do you plan to get up to 60,000 feet?"
"The pilot (obviously a sled driver), responded, "We don't plan to go up to it, we plan to go down to it."
He was cleared...

INTERESTING OBSERVATION:
I have a FaceBook page where I kep in touch with friends and former students.
Obama's "redistribution of wealth" may be the tipping point among college kids.
One of them has just given another a McCain/Palin "button" with the note, "Because I don't want to be poor."

Is this election going to the courts after the vote, this time with Republicans callenging for fraud in Ohio etc?
Okay, here's the thing: Even without the overload of knowledge that we here at LGF have garnered, I don't believe Obama passes "the smell test" with most Americans. If this was a "regular" election, McCain would win, and that would be that.
But it's obviously not. There are 3 unknowns that could effect the outcome:
1. The college kid vote
2. Election/registration fraud
3. How many people have been discouraged from voting for McCain by the Dewey camp and their media compliciots.
So, yes, it may be that close, and it may be litigated.

Fresno. No snow, but I remember highs being in the 40s and 50s and lows being in the 30s and 20s. Not brutally Canadian-cold, but I loved it nonetheless. At least there was wind, rain, hail, fog, frosts, freezes, etc.
I miss it. Rain is my passion.

I had to explain to my daughter (she goes to a government school) that the act of entering the country illegally is a crime. She's in fifth grade and they are getting more into social studies. They were comparing McCain/Obama policies on illegals.

There was a time when you had to own property to vote. In a way it made sense because property owners are vested, they have an interest in the outcomes of elections.
Ever since we began evaluating "social" outcomes it has gone downhill ever since, and now we are letting people claim cardboard boxes and park benches as addresses. I mean, c'mon, they have succombed so far to their own condition that they don't even have an address, but we'll let them vote. See, we're really an egalitarian country.

Actually they MAY be citizens.
Being homeless, is not a criteria to vote. Being a citizen of the US, and being of age 18 or higher is the criteria. Another criteria is being a resident of the precinct you live in. If were you live is on a park bench OK, provided you are a citizen and of age.
