Had to come back. This over at Hillbuzz should keep you talking a bit through the night. The post on the Florida voting at that site is also interesting:
[Link: hillbuzz.wordpress.com...]
"We’re utterly fascinated by this.
In 2004, we don’t remember hearing about anyone scared Kerry was going to take their guns away - and we worked Pennsylvania for Kerry (Pittsburgh area). There were a lot of gun shops and firing ranges there, and we never heard anything about people stocking up on guns because they were scared Kerry was going to try to take them away.
Obama is perceived as more liberal than Kerry, and in fact the most liberal Democrat that’s run for president in as long as anyone can remember. Biden as VP makes this the most liberal ticket that Democrats have ever fielded. There is nothing about it that puts the bitter, gun-and-relgion-people-who-are-apathetic-to-those- not-like-them living in Pennsylvania at ease.
Absolutely nothing.
In fact, the thought of Obama becoming president freaks these people out. So much so that they’re stocking up on firearms.
We just don’t see how this can bode well for Obama. These are “Reagan Democrats” and Republicans. They’re Clinton Democrats too. And they recoil at the thought of an Obama administration.
Have you ever heard of anything like this? We checked, and can’t see any evidence of this in past elections — where the Democrat so freaked rural, working class, sportsman types out that they felt compelled to stock up on weapons to protect themselves.
We think this is a piece of a larger puzzle…one that’s becoming much more clear as we inch closer to November 4th:
(1) Democrats like us at HillBuzz are working with Republicans for the first time in our lives to elect John McCain/Sarah Palin because we do not like or trust Obama/Biden.
(2) Hillary Democrats not openly working for McCain are silently voting for him — and voting Republican for the first time in their lives in most cases.
(3) Early voting has not met Obama’s expectations — Republicans are tied or ahead in most states, and nowhere is Obama enjoying blowout advantages he claimed he’d have.
(4) In all states, there is a marked “enthusiasm gap” between support for Obama and support remembered for Kerry in 2004 or Gore in 2000…lack of yard signs, stickers, posters, and excitement to vote for Obama, despite what the media claims.
(5) Gun owners afraid of Obama, and stocking up on weapons because they are that freaked out by the thought of anyone voting for him.
We’d love your thoughts on that last one, as we think it could be a cultural barometer like the Family Circle cookie baking contest or Halloween mask sales — something that shows a large scale cultural like or dislike of a candidate.
All of these anecdotal signs point to a McCain win…with those gun sales being the most fascinating of all.
Because those gun owners are the heart of the country. If Obama hasn’t won them over, and instead seems to have driven them away, screaming, then we just don’t see how he wins."

I have a crazy eyed cousin named Scott. He tends to laugh the more pissed off and flusted he gets. Ive been on work sights with him when some really fubar'd problem comes up.... He starts giggling like a mad man, grabs a hammer and just starts whacking at the thing. Funny and frightening at the same time.
But the best was when an exposed wire shot off a three foot spark that zapped him on his bald spot. God I laughed my ass off!

____[ The Second Drubbing ]____
Polling and polling in the widening gyre
The puppet cannot heed the puppeteer;
Things fall apart; the Left cannot hold;
Cold reality runs forth upon the ballot,
The Red-state tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of incompetence runs a-ground;
The best vote with conviction, while the worst
Exit-poll full of passionate futility.
Surely some ballot castigation is at hand;
Surely swings the Drubbing's pimp-slap hand
The Second Drubbing! Hearty clarions ring
Exposing their economic Lusus Naturae
Crushing their prize; entitlement wasteland;
A shape with Oliphant body and the head of a nation,
A determined grin warm and tireless as the sun,
Motivates the steady surprise, while about it
Media wind whips forward the Main Stream herd.
The margins drop again; but now we know
The thirty one city-states awoken from sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by Socialist cradle,
And what rough beast, its delivery bound fast,
Convulses in battle-ground states, aborted at last!

More stuff from HillBuzz:
Tonight’s been a busy night, in that we’ve talked to a half dozen people on three times as many subjects - including Team Hillary members in New Hampshire and Maine, who we know well from the primaries.
Here’s the kicker: these people aren’t McCain supporters. Several are working for Obama now in both states, because they have political jobs and thus must tow the party line. Others are voting Green and no longer campaigning for anyone, but are tuned into things in their states.
We know nothing about New Hampshire or Maine and have never pretended to. We won’t start now. All we’ll tell you is what these people told us tonight, and it’s that they truly do expect John McCain to win both New Hampshire and Maine next week, for the reasons they gave below:
(1) In both states, they have never seen an enthusiasm deficit for Democrats like this. Hillary Democrats there say there are more “closet McCain supporters” than anyone can count. Despite what the media says, people are not enthused and fired up to go out and vote for Obama — quite the contrary: people are scare of Obama’s policies and will be voting McCain. The enthusiasm deficit in both New Hampshire and Maine is “as clear as day” according to those we spoke to tonight. They say they do not see anywhere near the level of Obama signs, stickers, buttons, etc. out this year, as they did Kerry, Gore, Clinton, and even Dukakis gear in years past. They say this is actually shocking, because it should be everywhere, but no one cares enough to put those signs out. No one can use the excuse that there’s not enough money for signs and stickers: Obama’s campaign is supposedly rolling in dough, so why aren’t New Hampshire and Maine blanketed in Obama signs? Because people don’t want them in their yards and won’t be voting for him.
(2) We asked why people in these states are not voting for Obama and were told that in Maine, especially, a lot of it has to do with Joe the Plumber and redistributing the wealth. Much of Maine makes its living off the sea: fishermen pull in $200,000 or more a year in family businesses. Joe Biden’s slip that Obama really intends to define “wealthy” as $150,000 a year or above sent terror through Maine’s fishing community and other small business industries. We were told tonight that Maine and New Hampshire have more small family businesses that would be affected by Obama’s redistribution of wealth than we could imagine. Joe the Plumber resonated with these people — especially the fishermen. Todd Palin was recently dispatched to Maine in what the media claimed was an attempt to score one electoral college vote for Maine: tonight we were told it looks like McCain will win the whole state, not just that one congessional district.
(3) Sarah Palin was the smartest move John McCain could ever have made — she is playing incredibly well in Maine and New Hampshire, two states made up of mostly small towns, all of whom are outdoorsy and have traditions of female mayors, council members, and other high elected officials. Maine has two female United States Senators. That honestly never occured to us until now, but it does make a lot of sense. We knew Hillary Clinton would never win Iowa in the primaries because Iowa’s never elected a woman to high office — Maine has. Many, many times. People relate to Palin and trust John McCain. They like these candidates — while Obama in an unknown whose relationships and judgment make people uneasy. Add the socialism business to the top of this, and we’re told it moves New Hampshire and Maine into the red column.

From an e-mail:
Twas The Night Before The Elections
'Twas the night before elections
And all through the town
Tempers were flaring
Emotions all up and down!
I, in my bathrobe
With a cat in my lap
Had cut off the TV
Tired of political crap.
When all of a sudden
There arose such a noise
I peered out of my window
Saw Obama and his boys
They had come for my wallet
They wanted my pay
To give to the others
Who had not worked a day!
He snatched up my money
And quick as a wink
Jumped back on his bandwagon
As I gagged from the stink
He then rallied his henchmen
Who were pulling his cart
I could tell they were out
To tear my country apart!
" On Fannie, on Freddie,
On Biden and Ayers!
On Acorn, On Pelosi"
He screamed at the pairs!
They took off for his cause
And as he flew out of sight
I heard him laugh at the nation
Who wouldn't stand up and fight!
So I leave you to think
On this one final note-
IF YOU don't WANT SOCIALISM
GET OUT AND VOTE!

Something to think about, eh?
I do know that the NRA has been working hard against Obama here in Virginia. Some good, tough ads on TV and radio and lots of excellent fliers arriving in the mail every couple of days. Their members are active in the GOTV drives.
Whether its the NRA's work or a residue of the bitter-clingy speech, it's evident that Obama is NOT convincing people he's just a moderate fuzzball.

Again no poll shows Maine close...there are 2 polls from NH where McCain is in the 4-5 pt range 2 other polls that show Obama up by 12 and 24 pts.
I'd say New Hampshire is a possibility if McCain really grabs the momentum.

There will be a ton of surprises in this election.
For one, the youth vote won't stand in line for 3 to 6 hours to vote.
They'll think it's in the bag, and go get a pizza and a case of beer instead.
At least I hope so.
I'm going to be at the polls in North Carolina at 6:00am for a 6:30am opening.
If there's a huge crowd of grownups at the poll with me, I won't be surprised.

McCain/Palin in an electoral landslide. Kerry and Gore would have been bad for the country. BHO would be an unmitigated disaster. Not gonna happen. NO WAY.

I agree that they're losers in any case - they have exposed themselves in a way that it would take a very long time and a LOT of fair coverage to recover from - but if Obama wins, I think the country as a whole is in some serious trouble. We'd be losers, too.
For sure, if Obama wins, and this country heads into the shit hole, the MSM will have to answer to it's lack of coverage on Obama and his "skeletons."

I'm a country boy. Haven't lived in a 'city' since Houston, back in the early '90s. Because money's easier to make in cities, I've worked in quite a few (St. Louis, K.C., Omaha, Tulsa, Dallas, basically everything from the Gulf of Mexico to Canada and from Philadelphia to Phoenix). I don't like them.
One thing I've noticed. You can talk an American into about anything. Pet rock, anyone? How about a nice pair of platform shoes?
But it's pretty hard to force an American to do anything. An awful lot of Americans get the feeling that "they" (and often they can't tell you who 'they' are) are forcing Obadin on them.
It won't work. Maybe that's just me being nostalgic for bygone days, but I don't think that it's going to work.

They won't know what hit them. I mean the 20-somethings. The 50-somethings may remember Nixon in 1972 and Kael's famous quote.
I remember my grandpa telling me about how Adlai Stevenson seemed to be a sure thing. Then, a reporter came up to him shortly after a speech and said, "Congratulations, Mr. Stevenson, you have the vote of every thinking American." Steveson responded, "That's fine, but unfortunately, I need a majority to win!"
Once that remark came out, his campaign, and his political career, was effectively over.

Longish story but worth it I hope. I am in Dallas at a women's accounting conference. Yesterday a session on the candidate's tax platforms, I went to hear about them. Room was packed. At one point the professor/presenter made a comment and a woman sitting near me made a snarky comment about McCain's 8 houses. I said very loudly--keep it neutral and not political (actually I wanted to yell something equally snarky about O's house and Rezko, but I kept it classy). Session ended, no problems. Today after a session on stress reduction (which is useful during the next week) this woman comes up to me and starts apologizing. She was looking for me all day-she was the one who made the comment. She was actually trying to make a joke. Turns out she is UNDECIDED, JEWISH, FROM FLORIDA. Could I please tell her why I am voting for McCain? I took 15 minutes to lay it out and she listened very carefully. So, if Florida wins for McCain by 1 vote--I claim it!

Whatever the outcome of the election, the only real Loser is the MSM...they have lost all credibility.
I believe they lost all credibility long before now. they've been lying about our President for the past 8 years constantly. they've created a self-fulfilling prophecy when it comes to everyone's opinion of President Bush. You'd think he was the worst human that ever lived and never did a single thing right in his entire presidency. They will distort anything that helps their liberal agenda, it's been a steady decline and I honestly believe it has been major contributor to the stock market fluctuations since around the DOTCOM bust. It's not the only thing, but it's a big player IMO.
If you are constantly telling everyone 'Bush sucks, his policies suck, the Republican agenda sucks', blah blah blah. People start believing that crap. the sheep are easily swayed. Liberals make a living on that fact.
I never truly understood the value of government-run media until the past few years of Bush's administration. Now I see why many countries have state run media. it's quite effective. the Liberals basically have formed their own state-run media. *And NO, I'm not saying state run media is good. And the solution to fixing this is not government taking control. The answer is to stop watching/reading those bias news outlets and not to support their advertisers.

[A man walks into an employer's office, for his job interview]
Applicant: Hello, my name is Steve, and I'm here to interview for the human resources position.
Employer: Hi Steve, nice to meet you. I'm a mass murderer. I killed a few dozen innocent people while I was trying to violently overthrow the government. My plan was to murder about 25 million Americans, but, well, yadda yadda yadda, long story short, here I am working in this boring old office instead. But enough about me. How did you become interested in human resources?
Applicant [looks concerned]: Wait a second. I'm not sure I feel comfortable working for you. When did you kill all these people?
Employer: Back in the seventies. I would have liked to kill more people, but I haven't really had time lately.
Applicant [relieved]: Oh! Okay, that's totally fine then, I was only a kid in the seventies.
Voiceover: Would you go to work for a terrorist mass murderer? [pause] Would you vote for a president who did?

I was thinking- we are locked in an ideological battle. One that our opponents have been waging for decades and we've been slow to acknowledge. That changed on 9/11.
But it's not just the islamists- it's the leftists too. They've reached into our institutions and have been working on indoctrinating America's youth to their cause for far to long.
The interesting thing is I realized we have the same solution to both battles- individual rights. It is promoting and adhering to this ideal that can effectively combat both the ideology of the islamists and the leftists.

I just went OFF in a Starbucks
I am doing my best to compose myself during this election cycle, particularly since Obama is doing well in the polls. But this asshole flirting with some woman near me sent me over the top.
First, he approaches and begins talking about innocuous things. Fine. Then, he asks her about the election. She demonstrates awe at its ferocity. Again, innocuous. He then proceeds to state that both candidates are awful. I flinch, but accept his point of view that the candidates don't speak to him. However, he then begins this diatribe about how Obama supporters are more or less braindead and are being fooled by Obama's hypnotizing speech.
I could have taken the high road and asking him not to talk politics as it is a touchy subject for me (after 8 years of Bush, come on..) or point out that figures such as Colin Powell, Donald Trump and the Eisenhower girl are supporting Obama.
Nope! Instead, I turn around and yell "Get the fuck away from me!" to which he says, "I'm talking to her." as if this allows him to insult me within ear shot. "I said, I don't give a fuck. You're talking shit and ruining people's days. You should know better than to talk this shit in public!" He then says, "well, we disagree." To which I begin screaming while pointing at him, "YOU'RE the fuckin' idiot!" (alluding to his comments that begin my coniption) At this point, my veins are bulging. He backs down, I turn around, and get this, put on my ear phones so that I can't hear him anymore! He probably thought, "why didn't you do that to begin with." Why? Because assholes need to be put in their place. I suspect he is a repig who is disappointed in the direction of the campaign. Seeing an African American within earshot, he thought he could get away with his passive aggressive bullshit. Au fuckin' contraire "my friend". I feel better now, thanks for being there and letting me share fellow DUers!
GO OBAMA!

He's got nothing to gain if it's called McCain and especially if it's a landslide. He's relegated to appendices in history texts and he's an "organizer". He'll put some half-hearted thing together full of "uh" and "ah" but nothing that'll stop the riots. I think there'll be blood and fire in Chicago... although I hope that I'm wrong.

GOOD! That's the spirit I'm talking about!

There are too many red flags that will get brought up (Khalidi if that tape doesn't come out tomorrow, Rezko, Communism, etc.) that will ever allow him to run again. I think if he loses he'll be lucky to just speak at the DNC every four years and hold his Senate seat. Hillary's getting the nom in 2012 against Sarah.

To be fair, if Obama is near the stage and the election is called against him, I would expect him to work to calm the crowd. A riot would not profit him.
If he does lose, then he'll need to make his concession speech a major crowd calming one. If he doesn't do this, and if there are riots without one attempt to calm them down, he will be truly clobbered by Hillary in 2012.

My wife told me a work story today that I thought was pretty funny and I would like to share. She is an executive with a major hotel / entertainment group here in Vegas and is a rock solid Republican. She had a manager meeting today and to underscore some of the issues with the current economic issues here made the statement to the group, "Well I think things will settle down after the election." To which several of her younger, managers began to do what younger people do and espouse their personal feelings, like "yea when Obama wins it will be great."
One manager in particular was very adamant about this and when my wife asked why are you voting for a Communist the manager replied, "Well he is not a Communist he is a socialist." My wife told me she didn't know whether to shit or go blind at this. She had to leave the room to keep from laughing directly at the manager.

When this thing is over, and McCain wins, we will need to take a long hard look at this election process. They would say any voter requirements would be Jim Crow like. But I say we need to look into having a literacy test of some sorts.
I cannot agree with this. Too many men have died to ensure our American rights, including our right to vote.
I would, however, agree with strengthening voter laws to reign in fraud. In fact- it must be done.
Like I said, of some sorts. Know the history off the Jim crow laws suppressing the black and poor white vote to keep the white democrats in office. But something has got to give by letting idiots vote and the election fraud stealing our democracy. This is not why my neighbor is out there fighting this very moment is Afghanistan for.

In the latest Federal election here, back on the 14th, I showed up at my polling station with my voter registration card that was mailed to me. I handed it in and was asked for a picture I.D. and another I.D. with address on it or a piece of mail. Every time I vote I always get asked that. Vote fraud does happen, but not as blatant or often as you folks are experiencing today. My first election in my new place, since I wasn't on the rolls I had to sign four pieces of paper plus showing all my I.D.. Worth it in my opinion. I have only failed to vote in one election since I have been of age.

Stop me if you've heard this before (too late!):
Barack Obama was seated next to a little girl on an airplane. He turned to her and said, 'Let's talk. I've heard that flights go quicker if you strike up a conversation with your fellow passenger.'
The little girl, who had just opened her book, closed it slowly and said to Obama, 'What would you like to talk about?'
'Oh, I don't know,' said Obama. 'How about What Changes I Should Make To America?' and he smiles
'OK, ' she said. 'That could be an interesting topic. But let me ask you a question first. A horse, a cow, and a deer all eat the same stuff - grass.Yet a deer excretes little pellets, while a cow turns out a flat patty, and a horse produces clumps of dried grass. Why do you suppose that is?'
Obama, visibly surprised by the little girl's intelligence, thinks about it and says, 'Hmmm, I have no idea.'
To which the little girl replies, 'Do you really feel qualified to change America when you don't know shit?

It will probably be close when they put out their final poll. They have a vested interest in getting the last poll close. Before that it doesn't matter. Since RCP is an average, RCP will tighten at the end when all of the others tighten. Except for CBS and NBC polls.

I was hoping someone would run the analisys on Obama's and Ayer's written works...
Full story [Link: www.wnd.com...]
--------Experts affirm: Ayers wrote Obama's memoir:
Scientific analyses independently find radical's mark on 'Dreams From My Father'
Independent scientific analysis by a number of leading experts supports the literary detective work of WND columnist Jack Cashill that has led him to conclude unrepentant domestic terrorist William Ayers was the primary author of important sections of Barack Obama's highly acclaimed memoir and editor of the book as a whole.
Obama's 1995 book, "Dreams From My Father," won the 2006 Grammy Award for Best Spoken Word Album and drew praise from Time magazine, which called it "the best-written memoir ever produced by an American politician."
But since July, Cashill has unveiled in a dozen columns, summarized here, his compelling evidence that the co-founder of the radical Weather Underground group – dismissed by Obama as "just a guy who lives in my neighborhood" – shaped and refined the book with his exceptional writing skill and radical ideas.
The evidence, Cashill says, "severely tests Obama's claim of a superficial relationship with the self-declared 'communist' Ayers. This appears to be a conscious and consequential deception."

I mean, that election was like 2004 -- not just a referendum on the man, which was absolutely the case, but on the culture of the times. They were CRUSHED. Never mind that Ohio decided the election in 2004. Bush won by an astounding popular vote margin for such a polarised nation.

When O loses, what is he going to do with all that extra cash? I still think McCain lost a big opportunity at one of the debates to give back the $26k he got from Fannie and challenge O to give back his $126k on live national TV. Why isn't anyone screaming about Dodd and Frank giving back that money? Not that it would make much of a dent or anything, but at this point, anything would help.

I like to tinker. So, finding myself with time to kill and stuff to tinker with, I took the stocks of a couple of Ruger 10/22s, cobbled together a half-a**ed mount, and took two off-centered cams on a crank.
It made a pretty neat little gatling-gun-type toy. Couple that with the 100 round mags and you have a great way to waste more ammo than necessary.
Eventually, though, you're going to have to explain the setup to the sheriff's office. 'Cause it does sound like a machine gun.
But it's not. Don't add a motor to the cam-crank, though. That might get problematic.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you Scott Brundage...
Shame on you CBS.
I will not argue here with the writer''s opinions.
But publishing this asa News Story is a dark shame.
When Ed Murrow spoke an oppinion, we saw or heard it clearly as opinion, as when he did it AFTER a long news report in which there was a legitimate attempt at objectivity.
At thelvery least this should have been labeled as an OPINION column. It does not rise to the level of news journalism.
It certainly is a black mark upon the edifice that is the reputation for ehtics that CBS has been.
Not a chink in the armor. A Very Large hole from a self inflicted cannon wound.

No to both. Have a couple of drinks and I am up half the night fighting heartburn. Dosen't matter what I eat or drink before or during. Figured I would just swear off it for awhile and see what happens. Went through this once before. No booze for six months and things were good.
Try cutting back on the sugar and the caffeine, too. Those drive my heartburn. More than one 24oz coffee and I'm burping and heartburn all day.

Sounds like you have something in your body that doesn't agree with booze. Find out what it is and have it removed.

You aren't putting out 1.2 billion jigawatts, so you need to rebuild your Flux Capacitor.
.
1.2 gigawatts = 1,200,000,000 watts.
1.2 billion gigiwatts = 1,200,000,000,000,000,000 watts.
U.S. electrical generation capacity ~1,100 gigawatts

No matter what the facts are on sea ice or any other thing, people that are convinced that the Earth should only stay in the climate state that they are now experiencing won't pay any attention to anything that disagrees with their emotions.
People should be aware of the arctic sea ice.

Did anyone catch Big Brother's 0bama's infomercial tonight?
I can't figure out how this could help him at this point. I mean, I think even the more uninformed voters- after being told what dire economic straits we're in- will likely wonder what the cost of running a 30-minute spot like that on prime-time TV would be and doubt wether or not that was the best investment his campaign could've made.
And if he's showing such poor decision-making regarding financing on the campaign level, what makes them think that he'd show any better judgement once he got into the White House....

I was in Canada last month. I never saw so many campaign posters in all my life. One ever 15 feet in the whole city of Montreal.
A significant number of posters had some interesting mutilations.
I can see why the conservative party is doing better. The left is splintered into three groups.
