It's not hard to intimidate Alan, and I love seeing people do it - especially lately. :-)

2 newsjunkie_ky  Fri, Oct 31, 2008 10:31:05am

LOL! Saw that as it happened.

3 looking closely  Fri, Oct 31, 2008 10:32:20am

Intimidating Alan Colmes isn't very difficult, apparently.

Also, since this is a Colmes thread, guess what the Kossacks have to say about him:

Alan Colmes
From dKosopedia

Alan Colmes is the suspiciously weak and ineffective "liberal" foil to Sean Hannity on Fox News. Before he was hired by Fox News, the open spot he filled was labeled as "LTBD" or "Liberal To Be Determined." Worse than a milquetoast, Colmes serves as the liberal Stepin Fetchit for Fox. He is a figure almost masochistic in his willingness to give ground in arguments to conservative guests by providing strawman arguments. It is also highly suspicious that Fauxnews picked a Secular Jew to fill the role of a liberal.

Colmes also hosts a late night radio program The Alan Colmes Show.

Amazing how its always about race and religion for the "progressives", isn't it?

4 Spellcheck  Fri, Oct 31, 2008 10:32:22am

Too bad Joe or Tito isn't in my district - I'd vote for either to represent me.

5 Sharmuta  Fri, Oct 31, 2008 10:32:41am

LMAO! Tell it Tito- we're NOT stupid!

/We've got the declining msm revenues to prove it.

6 lone_wolf_in_illinois  Fri, Oct 31, 2008 10:33:21am

I loved it, it was friggen' hilarious!

7 thebigolddog  Fri, Oct 31, 2008 10:35:10am

I think it's finally becoming clear who really makes up "the Right" in this country these days and it's guys like Joe an Tito ald women like Sarah who love their country and want the opportunity to be successful - not a handout. They care about the future for the sake of their children.

8 pat  Fri, Oct 31, 2008 10:35:22am

Alan shrinks before the common man. Joe spanked him also.

9 capitalist piglet  Fri, Oct 31, 2008 10:35:23am

I loved the way he deadpanned that stuff.

10 Noam Sayin'  Fri, Oct 31, 2008 10:35:24am

Booze and pills.

That must be how Colmes sleeps at night.

11 abolitionist  Fri, Oct 31, 2008 10:35:31am

When I noticed this at HotAir, my first thought was that it was the Dems' answer to Joe the Plumber, but with not a scintilla of thought to the significance of another guy named Tito.

But no. He's apparently campaigning with Palin.

12 CIA Reject  Fri, Oct 31, 2008 10:35:54am

I love this guy- he's the real deal, the antithesis of the typical latte-sipping "radical chic" metrosexual nouveau socialist BO supporter.

Tito is a real American!

13 Sharmuta  Fri, Oct 31, 2008 10:35:55am

Anyone who isn't white and supports Mccain is a race traitor

/wish that wasn't really how Obama felt.

16 thebigolddog  Fri, Oct 31, 2008 10:38:10am

re: #11 abolitionist

He did more than that. He went to a rally specifically to confront the media over their treatment of Joe the Plumber. He confronted Corn and smacked him around but good. The video is floating around the net.

17 Spellcheck  Fri, Oct 31, 2008 10:38:36am

Damn, Tito has the left pegged! I had this on last night, but it's even better when I'm concentrating on what he says.

18 Shug  Fri, Oct 31, 2008 10:38:39am

Tito for HUD secretary

19 Ojoe  Fri, Oct 31, 2008 10:38:42am

GO Tito!

*********

Are you in a building as you read this?

You are being sheltered by the sweat and effort of construction workers, perhaps those of a century or more ago.

It is to Tito and those like him whom we owe for our cushy lives, not to politicians like Obama.

20 WrathofG-d  Fri, Oct 31, 2008 10:39:08am

I'll admit, I didn't watch the video.

But, seriously...now there is a "Tito The Builder"? "Joe The Plumber" (who accidentally became a celebrity) made sense, but now "Tito".

This is getting a bit ridiculous isn't it?

(I know how these things go so...the ding down is in red, upper right corner)

21 musicman  Fri, Oct 31, 2008 10:39:29am

OT
If we vote for Obama, he will make sure we no longer have to pay for gas for our cars or make our mortgage payments. Peggy Joseph knows this because if she helps Obama, Obama is going to help her.

Go to 2:10 in the vide and turn your speakers up

24 JammieWearingFool  Fri, Oct 31, 2008 10:40:10am

Tito rocks. Reminds me of a Colombian friend of mine. We need an Army of Titos.

I've never met a Tito I didn't like.

Uh folks, I don't even get the video showing out here!
For some reason my 'puter (which is getting a massive overhaul on Sunday) suddenly stopped playing YouTube and Imeem music as well!
Can anyone point me to a link for this video?
And Yes, I did refresh the page!

This is great theater. I will say about Hannity, he's too much of a cheerleader to take seriously. I like Joe Scarborough more.

32 JammieWearingFool  Fri, Oct 31, 2008 10:42:00am

BTW, I read somewhere he had an eye injury or something to that effect, which explains the shades.

I though at first he was just shielding his eyes from the pasty-faced visage of the execrable Skeletor.

They don't. And coupled with their Dear Leader's apparent comfort in a room full of people who share their distaste for all things Jewish, I don't think it's paranoid to say that is a concern.

This is great theater. I will say about Hannity, he's too much of a cheerleader to take seriously. I like Joe Scarborough more.

This is pretty much Hannity's radio show:

1) Read Drudge headlines
2) Take calls on Drudge headlines
3) Repeat the same 4 things about 20 times over the course of ever hour (things like "let not your heart be troubled" - or his new concert schedule - "you're a great American" - "I'm so humble" - "I am so great" - etc)
4) Repeat 3 times a day.

His radio show is a joke.

He absolutely SCHOOLED David Corn on his constitutional rights. It was quite a thing to see.

It's an inspiration to see a naturalized citizen in a situation like that. It drives home how much we "native born" Americans take for granted, and sometime what we've never even bothered to learn, about our liberty.

Who tags these guys? I suspect they put these labels on these guys to marginalize them. Even if it is done in reverse, like reverse snobbery. I mean, they are tradesmen, not "elite" or "A list" like journalists and such. Exactly what part is ridiculous:
That we latinos can be just as passionate about our beliefs as any other group?
That many of us think the news outlets are in the tank for Obama?
That we work hard and resent redistribution of our money?
That the common man is allowed to express his opinions on a news show?

Please enlighten me.

I like Joe Scarborough more.

At first, back in 2004, I thought he was decent. But I really have no idea where he stands. He seems like he tries too hard to be nice, rather than calling it like it is. I find him very weak as a 'conservative'. But he is MSLSD's token 'conservative', so that's a good thing. But they did kick him to the morning show. Can't have him compete with Olberdunce or Thrill Up My Leg.

Definitely not a Hannity fan, myself. His show is strictly boilerplate, along the lines you spelled out. I have a friend whose parents came to the US in the late 60s/early 70s and have done very well for themselves. He told me last night that his parents said if Obama wins, they are going back to the Philippines for four years.

I have yet to hear one person who has come to the USA from another country that has not said that America is the greatest country on earth. Every single person that I have heard on TV, read about or spoken to who has immigrated to the US loves this country for what it stands for and the opportunity it offers to everyone. And they all support the Republican viewpoint.

Obama's New Attack on Those Who Don't Want Higher Taxes: ‘Selfishness’

Jake Tapper
October 31, 2008 10:58 AM

On the stump this week, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., has pushed back against Sen. John McCain's description of his tax policies.

"The reason that we want to do this, change our tax code, is not because I have anything against the rich," Obama said in Sarasota, Florida, yesterday. "I love rich people! I want all of you to be rich. Go for it. That’s the America dream, that’s the American way, that’s terrific.

"The point is, though, that -- and it’s not just charity, it’s not just that I want to help the middle class and working people who are trying to get in the middle class -- it’s that when we actually make sure that everybody’s got a shot – when young people can all go to college, when everybody’s got decent health care, when everybody’s got a little more money at the end of the month – then guess what? Everybody starts spending that money, they decide maybe I can afford a new car, maybe I can afford a computer for my child. They can buy the products and services that businesses are selling and everybody is better off. All boats rise. That’s what happened in the 1990s, that’s what we need to restore. And that’s what I’m gonna do as president of the United States of America.

"John McCain and Sarah Palin they call this socialistic," Obama continued. "You know I don’t know when, when they decided they wanted to make a virtue out of selfishness."

It's unclear if this was a nod to the Ayn Rand book "The Virtue of Selfishness," with all that the invocation of Rand implies.

It would seem to be, given the themes of Rand's work, what happens when independent achievers are demonized.

Which would fit with this description of those who want to keep their hard-earned tax dollars as "selfish."

Atlas may not be shrugging, but Obama is.

McCain was the one who got it rolling with Joe the Plumber.

Tito started out as Tito the Construction Worker, but that moniker is a bit cumbersome. But seeing him with his hardhat at events it was just a natural to spin off from Bob the Builder.

I find it amusing, yet useful as it shows the middle class, blue collar types still can be welcome in the party.

Yeah- pretty ridiculous when a regular American gets to voice their opinion.

Also notice - Tito has it spot on where he says that people like Obama will give the little people crumbs so that they themselves can stay in power.

You don't need to study political economics, you just need to listen to the 'common folk'! They really get it - unlike the media types and pseudo-academics with their nuanced complexities.

I agree Hannitys show is hard to take. If you ever break down the content, there is hardly any there, he repeat a few slogans over and over. After the commercial break he list 5-6 stories that will be coming up, and as he does he gives pretty much all the material he has on each story. Then he goes into one particular story and dwells on it for 5 minutes, not ever going any deeper than the story intro. Then just before the next break he again takes two minute to summarize the stories that are coming up. After the break he repeats the process.
after awhile your ears are bleeding.

I've always found the Democrat cliche of only the rich being Republican as one that really needs to go away.

I've been conservative Republican my whole voting life (and a few years before). Almost all of my friends are the same. We have never been confused with the rich almost all of us being blue collar or military enlisted. Kind of hard to be confused with the rich folks when you are driving a 1999 Ford Escort. Blue collar types have always been welcomed into the Republican party except with certain elitist types at the high social rungs-but the Democrats have them also. Anyone think Gore, Kennedys, Pelosi, Soros, Gates, Obama would ever have any carpenters or enlisted soldiers over for some beers to watch a ball game?

I had though that, since McCain is very soft on immigration, he was going to get a lot of the Hispanic vote. But no (if you can believe the polls), for some reason Obama is apparently waaaaaayyyy ahead amongst Hispanics. Why?

I have a theory that a certain portion of the Latino community has chosen to identify with African Americans, specifically, with ghetto/gang/hip-hop/street culture. (That's not a put down, just a description.) They've bought into collectivism and group identity. Most Latinos come here ready to work and achieve the American Dream, and many of them proceed to do just that. Others, however, adopt the victim mentality pressed on them by La Raza and MeCHA. There's a certain appeal in swaggering around in baggy pants and gang colors while Uncle Sugar supports your girlfriends and their babies. Educational attainment among second- and third-generation Latinos is actually lower than that of new immigrants, while the illegitimacy rates is now second only to African-Americans.

City Journal covers a lot of these issues. For example, Heather MacDonald has an excellent article, from 2006, called Hispanic Family Values? The question mark is in the original.

Republicans have within arms reach the ability with this election to be recognized as the party of the workingman & woman.

The Democrats have always demonized the Republicans as being the party of the rich based on folks like the Rockefellers, always "forgetting" just who most of the nations richest folks were. Kennedys? Gates? Gore? Soros? Run down the "A List" and see how many are Republican.

Obama's New Attack on Those Who Don't Want Higher Taxes: ‘Selfishness’

Great (and short) read on this very topic today in Powerline:

We've been writing for some years about the fact that America's income tax system has increasingly concentrated tax liability among the highest income earners. Currently, the top ten percent of American income earners pay 71 percent of all income taxes. Our excessively progressive tax system has created a dangerous situation in which anyone can vote for politicians who promise to deliver goodies by "spreading the wealth," but only a handful are responsible for paying the bills. Whether a democracy can survive indefinitely under these circumstances is an open question.

Cash does help when it comes to brainwashing. Look at how much a couple of Obama's executive bullet points on his resume, The CAC and the Woods Fund, threw at programs designed to indoctrinate children with anti-American ideas. Control the schools and mold the children. Right out of Uncle Vladimir's playbook.

The clock pretty much stopped for the Democrats back in 1932 (as witnessed by the fact that they've been, until now, running against Herbert Hoover since then) and back then most of the rich folks were Republicans so I guess that explains it.

I was in a Federal courtroom last week listening to prospective jurors being questioned by the judge as to whether they should not or could not serve on jury duty. One gentleman, in a heavy Hispanic accent, began to answer the judge and then he began to cry. He said that he loved this country and wanted more than anything to do his duty as a citizen, but he had not learned to read or write in English well enough to understand the proceedings. He apologized more than once for not being able to do so. He was probably the only one there who wanted to serve. When it came my time to answer those same questions, I could not say no.

Along the same blue-collar sense of things, from late in the previous thread, posted by No Submission (post 1743):

True story.
This happened to a good friend of mine, told to me first-hand this morning.

Last night on a bus to Queens .

A friend of mine who is a huge McCain/Palin supporter and also happens to be gay was on a very crowded bus headed for Queens . He had a number of McCain/Palin campaign buttons pinned to his work bag. All of a sudden this moonbat in his late 40’s with long greasy hair and a black trench coat stands over him and starts eyeballing the buttons on his bag and begins to mutter to himself. My friend asked him if he had a problem and the moonbat said something about those ‘ugly buttons’ and how he’s been brainwashed. My friend said, ‘look, I don’t have anything to say to you. You can think whatever you like.’ The moonbat started going off about how bad America is and awful this country is. Suddenly an Iraqi man a seat away gets up and says, ‘You can't say that. America is a great country. I came here from Iraq 10 years ago to escape Saddam. I am an American citizen now. The Americans saved my country and freed my people. I will never go back there because I love it here. America is the greatest place. I have a business here and a good life thanks to America .’ The moonbat then said, ‘Then you both must be listening to those Nazis.’ Then an older Jewish woman gets up and elbows her way through the crowd. She said, ‘I survived the Holocaust. I lived under the Nazis.’ She pulled up her sleeve and showed her concentration camp tattoo. She went on, “You should be ashamed of yourself for comparing the United States to Nazis! How dare you!” The moonbat moved away still muttering. Clearly outflanked. Then another woman sitting nearby leaned over to my friend and said, ‘Thank you. Before now I didn’t know who to vote for. But if that guy is one of Obama’s fans then I am voting for McCain!’ The bus pulled over and through the window everyone saw the moonbat go flying out and hit cement, his bag on the ground his papers scattered and his commie socialist newspapers blowing in the wind. Then this other guy onboard who was quiet all along said in a heavy NY accent, “Just call me Vinny the Plumber. I do things the Queens way, I tripped the ___________!”

Now that I watch it again, it is much more enjoyable without any distractions. Tito is incredibly sharp, direct and astute, having a quick comeback for anything Comes said (who reported ayers? who? Fox News, the only one - that shut colmes up). I also like him because though he may not talk like an aristocrat (heavy ethnic accent, blue collar tone), he is not any less enlightened than those in the "ruling class". This is exactly the kind of guy I like, the kind of conservative I relate to and Tito and Joe the Plumber are exactly what Sarah Palin is and eventually will reprsent when she's unleashed on her own. These are the people who the condescending elites like David Brooks David Frum and Peggy Noonan look down upon and the type of person liberal republicans such as Colin Powell and Scott Mclellan can not stomach. But conservative Democrats, Libertarians and social conservatives love them...the majority of this center right nation.

and I love his colombian gangster look, lol. Not to stereotype him or anything. He said he had an eye infection or something, hence the shades, I say he make that part of his image whenever he goes on TV.

re: #34 gruvin

This guy needs to speak directly to the hoardes of Hispanic voters ready to pull the lever for Obama. Buy time on Univision or Telemundo, and have him deliver his message in espanol.

Best idea yet

re: #134 Miss Molly

I saw Tito last night on Hannity and "the other guy" and he was not intimidated at all. Alan so likes to talk over other people talking and Tito was having none of it. Tito was clear and strong on his message.

dick Morris said it best, he likes to "heckle". It is incredibly annoying and worse than interrupting. As someone is making a point, he slips in side comments and rebukes, sprinkling his opinion in small amounts all over their words. he doesn't quite talk over them, just throws in a shot here and there and it can be infuriating. make your point, listen, make a counter point. colmes, who i don't think is such a bad guy, relies heavily on Red herrings and distraction techniques. Dick Morris had enough of it and the last time the two were on together, Colmes didn't heckle him once and actually let him make his point. score one for Morris.

from the KosKidsKlan:
"It is also highly suspicious that Fauxnews picked a Secular Jew to fill the role of a liberal."

Yeah, it sure is suspicious, because how many of us have known secular Jews who are also liberals? It's a plot, I tell ya ..

I can't really stand Hannity or Colmes, but Colmes makes me retch whenever I see him. If Tito scares the scarecrow freak under the desk he can stay there and Tito can take his place in co-hosting the show.

We need a few battalions of Titos...he was magnificent, and here is his CV; if it has been posted, sorry! Kids are already trick or treating here.

re: #56 Piglet-U93

Obama is half black and half white. So, not voting for him is only half racist and voting for him is only half racist.

Is this a win-win or loss-loss situation?
I am so confused.

heh...

Whatta mensch!

Tito's in that extraordinary group of people-- the people who make America the great country she is. And, God willing, we will prevail.

re: #47 Junior

This is pretty much Hannity's radio show:

1) Read Drudge headlines
2) Take calls on Drudge headlines
3) Repeat the same 4 things about 20 times over the course of ever hour (things like "let not your heart be troubled" - or his new concert schedule - "you're a great American" - "I'm so humble" - "I am so great" - etc)
4) Repeat 3 times a day.

His radio show is a joke.

Yep. I heard him repeat the same talking points six times in a fifteen minute span the other day. It was nauseating. He says he wants three hours of your time every day, but it's built for three minutes a day. And now he's on a narcissistic kick, decrying the Dems who mention him by name and wondering why they're picking on "little old Sean Hannity" and then playing audio clips with these guys mentioning him by name, as if anybody really cares. Believe me, if the fairness doctrine is brought back to life by the Dems (let's all hope not), his is one show I won't miss at all.

158 grahamski  Fri, Oct 31, 2008 5:46:45pm

I don't watch that show very often, but I happened to catch it just as the guy was introduced....Classic!...he scared the creature of the black lagoon!...LMAO!

Good for Tito. I would love a one-on-one w/ Colmes

I would like to kick his smart nuts up into the roof of his smart mouth.

Buckley summed it all up a long time ago ... I think that this is from "Meet the Press" 40 years ago:

re: #129 Not amazed in NJ

I love the media and other assorted liberal hacks (i.e. state government in Ohio) that will probe in Joe the Plumber's person life - and now probably Tito as well, are the the same people that scream and demand that we don't intercept incoming calls from abroad from terrorists.

Yes the so called liberals have no qualms about illegally looking through an honest citizen's private records and releasing the details to embarrass him if it benefited them; they are so silent about it......but you would see no end to their anger if somehow the FBI had searched through Zacarias Moussaoui's computer and had discovered more details about his nefarious plans that may have prevented 9/11.

The Left has a warped sense of reality; of right and wrong; of good and bad.......that is why you still see idiots who agree with Obama's comparison of the US with Nazi Germany.

It was Nazi Germany that started a war the resulted in the loss of millions of life but it was the US who was largely responsible for stopping Hitler and preventing millions more from being killed. And it was the US who helped Europe to rebuild after that disastrous war.

The Left's warped sense of reality is not only irresponsible but also dangerous. The Islamofascists do not need another reason to hate the US. They see the US's status as a superpower as an affront to their sense of religious superiority. And the US stands in their way of destroying Israel and spreading Islamic hegemony and achieving worldwide conquest someday. By accusing the US of being as bad as the Nazi's....the left energizes the Islamofascists' hatred for the US.

Haha! THat guy is fucking great

Takes big balls to go against the grain of your community. Just like the tiny, tiny percentage of blacks that are McCain supporters.

This guy should rally in New Mexico, teach some of his latino brothers (thing or two about thinking independently.

163 Lawrior  Sat, Nov 1, 2008 6:27:08am

Great!

The most telling part was when Colmes mentioned other media covered Ayers &c, so the MSM did not need to cover it. WHAT?

re: #20 WrathofG-d

Yeah..you're right. How dare average blue-collar American's open their mouths and say something. Somebody better tell them to shut up huh. We don't need to listen to these guys, after all we have such enlightened people as Nancy the Rep, Harry the Senator, Colin the turncoat, John the laywer et. al to listen to. I just hope Tito doesn't have any skeletons in his closet or we're going to see him destroyed ...naw on second thought.....I guess they wouldn't bother. The thing that pissed the left off is that Joe the Plumber accidentally exposed Obama's real agenda...therefore, he needed to be destroyed at all costs, an example so to speak.

Obama's going down big time and I'm going to be laughing my ass off and open a 25 year old bottle of Scotch to celebrate come Nov. 5th.
