In a sane world Obama would be a laughing stock and not a serious candidate.

Interesting spin.

So is Biden not selfish when he is as stingy as he is in charitable contributions?

As I recall, Republicans have been proven to be more generous when it comes to giving.

Not that the media will do anything but honor this stupid statement as an important turning point in our nation's history.

9 WrathofG-d  Fri, Oct 31, 2008 3:08:08pm

Don’t want higher taxes? Barack Obama says you’re “selfish.”

This, actually, is the philosophical underpinning of Marxism.

"From each according to his means..."

In Marxist books, capitalism is often described as an economy based on "selfishness."

Barack, you just revealed your hand.

13 jaunte  Fri, Oct 31, 2008 3:08:52pm

When all young people can go to college, as Obama wants them to, college may be too dumbed down to help them.

14 Ojoe  Fri, Oct 31, 2008 3:09:04pm

Rip the bucks right out of our family budget, we'll feel so GOOD !

It is so worth it, what a lightworker he is, everyone feeling so righteous under his direction.

OT: Note for bloggers - We are all getting worn out by the election, but it's not time for slacking. On top of following any new developments you should also be copying and republishing some of your key stories on Obama and the election as if they were fresh. Flood the space, there are many people who are just now looking into the candidates, believe it or not. Republish 'em, all weekend long.

It takes a set of stainless steel balls to call anyone selfish when you're a millionaire and your brother is living in a hut on $1 a month and your aunt (the one who helped you make some money) is living in one of Boston's worst public housing projects.

But they are quick to pose their policies as the only possible choice for decent patriotic Americans, even--or especially--when those poicies are the opposite of what Americans have held dear for generations.

Date - Obama - McCain

A black male puma speaks:
As a black male Democrat, I just made a decision that hurts my heart.

I’m voting for McCain and urge you all do the same. I disagree with John on many issues, and true he has the same character flaws all human beings do: sometimes we lie, sometimes we cheat, sometimes we flip-flop. But John McCain’s long military and political record shows his love and loyalty to America. And all Americans can agree with his intolerance for out-of-control spending and earmarks and his insistence on energy independence.

As for my boy Obama…sigh…where to begin? Yes, he has the same character flaws all human beings do — lie, cheat, flip-flop, we all do it. Unfortunately, but a few unique sticking points are impossible to explain away.

His constant race baiting sucks. I was shocked by his implication that Bill Clinton — of all people — is racist and remain shocked Democrats actually fell for it. Bill Clinton a (reformed) liar? Yes. Bill Clinton a racist? Never.

Similarly, Obama’s claim that his racist, anti-American church was representative of black people and black churches was dishonest, damaging, and hurtful.
Read the whole thing.

Best review ever of Barak's infomercial

America’s supplies of tissues must have been exhausted during Barack Obama’s 30-minute election broadcast late on Wednesday night. It had been billed as a “closing argument” by the Democrat’s seemingly unstoppable campaign. In reality, it was an all-out, no-holds-barred weepathon with a feel-bad factor pitched somewhere between the third act of Schindler’s List and the slaughter scenes in Watership Down. I emerged from my TV room sodden-eyed and legs trembling, wishing that Iran would just drop the bomb and get it all over with.

Obama's real tax plan:

Do you work for a living? Do you provide for your family? Do you provide jobs for others? well-- the democrat party says - F U.

Among the many fuzzy statements that Obama has made about taxes none is more erroneous than his "asking folks who are making more than a quarter million dollars a year to go back to the tax rate they were paying in the 1990s before the Bush tax cuts."

Note the nebulous phrase "tax rate" that conflates federal income taxes and FICA payroll taxes on income. As I recall, the Clintons never introduced legislation repealing the caps on payroll/Social Security taxes. Obama has; and so the new exposure to the 12.4% on self-employed income, coupled with the 2.9% contribution for Medicare, would mean that on self-employed income (and that would be the more likely target), we are talking about a 15.3% tax hike, added onto a 5% additional tax raise on income (34% to 39%).

One can support or reject Obama's plans, but he should at least admit he is not at all going back to the 1990s, but proposing something quite radically new: that anyone in America who makes over $250,000 (the targeted amount seems to change frequently), would pay a new additional tax of 19.3% on their income. And in some states with a 9% state income tax rate, coupled with the 2.9% Medicare rate, one can see that a total tax bite, federal, state, and FICA/Medicare, of at least about 65% of their income, aside from proposed increases in capital gains and inheritance taxes.

This is a radical effort at redistribution (in line with Obama's earlier statement that legislative rather than court action is more effective in redistribution), and nothing at all like the 1990s. The danger is that, coupled with exempting nearly half the wage-earning population from any federal income tax liability, we are going to discourage incentives at both ends of the spectrum. Human nature being what it is, the half of American wage earners exempt will not be so eager to work additionally if it means beginning to pay federal income taxes. The "rich" 4%, who now pay 60+% of the nation's aggregate income taxes, will not be so eager either, if it means giving 2/3s of their additional income to government(s) to give it back to those who are not paying any federal income tax.

Rush Limbaugh played this excerpt of Obama reading from Dreams From My Father:

OBAMA: If Jane or Zeituni ever felt ill, if their companies ever closed or laid them off, there was no government safety net. There was only family, next of kin, people burdened by similar hardship. Now I was family, I reminded myself. Now I had responsibilities.

So, narcissist that he is, his public persona and his private self-image both include the fiction that he is responsible to help his family members. Even a narcissist would ordinarily do something for his poor relations just to make himself look and feel better. 117 The Archivist  Fri, Oct 31, 2008 3:23:53pm

Back on 20 August, Glenn Reynolds had this to say:

CORRECTING OBAMA ON THE TOPIC OF AMERICAN SELFISHNESS: "Whatever the case is with his own selfishness, the evidence of an internationally superior American generosity is impressive, beginning with the numbers on our charitable giving. We give twice as much as the British per capita, and according to The American magazine, seven times as much as the Germans and 14 times as much as the Italians. Even in inflation-adjusted dollars, the amount given each year just keeps getting larger, and meanwhile, we do far more volunteer work than in other industrialized countries."

Obama's comments seem to echo the claims of U.N. official Jan Egeland that the U.S. response to the Indian Ocean tsunami was "stingy." That charge was bogus -- there was over a billion dollars in private tsunami relief from Americans -- and it turned out that the U.N. wasted a lot of its own relief money on overhead. But that's how it is with nanny-state approaches: They dampen private impulses toward unselfishness, even as officials line their pockets. Is this what Obama wants?

UPDATE: Speaking of selfishness, perhaps the millionaire Obama could do something for his long lost brother living in poverty in Kenya: "Mr Obama, 26, the youngest of the presidential candidate's half-brothers, spoke for the first time about his life, which could not be more different than that of the Democratic contender. 'No-one knows who I am,' he told the magazine, before claiming: 'I live here on less than a dollar a month.' . . . He has only met his famous older brother twice - once when he was just five and the last time in 2006 when Senator Obama was on a tour of East Africa and visited Nairobi. . . . Of their second meeting, George Obama said: 'It was very brief, we spoke for just a few minutes. It was like meeting a complete stranger.'"

ANOTHER UPDATE: More Obama/Kenya background. "Obama to School Named After Him - Drop Dead."

Selfish is as selfish does. Unlock the gates to your gated community and invite a few newbies from the south side in to share your wealth.

You could have bought/constructed a couple of nice apt buildings with the money you spent on your infomercial. then you COULD HAVE housed a few dozen families so they could save their money for the kids college. But, alas, you chose to spend on a prime time informercial and call us selfish for wanting to keep our 50k a year jobs which will not grow if you raise taxes our bosses.

charity coerced is no longer charity; compulsory giving.

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and his wife Michelle gave $10,772 of the $1.2 million they earned from 2000 through 2004 to charities, or less than 1 percent, according to tax returns for those years released today by his campaign

See Barry absolutely believes Americans need be forced to give. He can't imagine others would voluntarily give, therefore govt must take and allocate it for them.

Is America Stingy?

By Jefferson Morley
washingtonpost.com Staff Writer
Tuesday, January 4, 2005; 11:24 AM

Nothing stings an American like being called "stingy."

When Jan Egeland, United Nations emergency relief coordinator, said at a Dec. 27 press conference on the South Asia tsunami relief efforts that the world's wealthiest countries were "stingy" toward the world's poorest countries, both President Bush and Secretary of State Colin L. Powell took offense.

Bush said Egeland was "misguided and ill-informed." Powell said the U.S. had "nothing to be embarrassed about" in its response to the South Asia catastrophe.

Barack Obama is an idiot to step in the same hole as Egeland did. Americans definitely do not like being told that they are selfish for having personal wealth and not wanting it taken from them by fiat. And they also don't like being told that they're selfish when they know that they give generously to charities -- especially when the accusation comes from someone who hasn't displayed any particular generosity.

Come on, guys. this will cheer you up: Olbermann will be skewered on this week's SNL

Ben Affleck, who’s hosting “Saturday Night Live” this week, was rehearsing a skit this afternoon mocking Keith Olbermann when Olbermann himself got past security to watch, according to a source with knowledge of the incident.

A source described the skit as “savage,” in portraying Olbermann as a deranged person living at home with his mother. Affleck, said a source, became uneasy with Olbermann in attendance at the 3 p.m., closed-set rehearsal.

But Olbermann, through a spokesman, was complimentary on his first time being mocked on "SNL" — a position his MSNBC colleague Chris Matthews has been in over the years.

“I’m not Sarah Palin,” Olbermann said. “I know how valuable it is to me. And it’s funny."

John McCain is expected to be on tomorrow night, but there’s no word if he’s involved at all in this skit.

An SNL representative declined to comment.

What a douche. He's clearly not familiar with the distinction of viewers laughing at him, not with him.

...

In the world of Atlas Shrugged, society stagnates when independent productive achievers began to be socially demonized and even punished for their accomplishments, even though society had been far more healthy and prosperous by allowing, encouraging and rewarding self-reliance and individual achievement. Independence and personal happiness flourished to the extent that people were free, and achievement was rewarded to the extent that individual ownership of private property was strictly respected. The hero, John Galt, lives a life of laissez-faire capitalism as the only way to live consistent with his beliefs.

Why is it government that must make the world a better place in Obama's view? Don't individuals play a role, too?

I'd like to give more, but I'm paying so much in taxes, I can't. And that's where Obama wants us, because he believes he and his elites know better how to give away our money. Ayn Rand was a woman. I'm not expert, but she abhorred communism and celebrated the genius of the individual. One of the less well-known novels, We the Living, paints a picture of the beginning of the Communist Era in Russia after the Revolution. I believe her family emigrated from Russia around that time.

Rand was a she, not a he. Born in Russia, emigrated to the United States, and became a best-selling author with two novels based on her philosophy of Objectivism- The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged. Both are still best-sellers today, half a century after she wrote them.

Today, Atlas Shrugged seems eerily prescient.

But it was for a certain project in that agency. I didn't pay much
attention to the agency, I was concentrating on the job requirements.

I'd
rather continue working in live theatre, but really, at 55, if I can
get back to programming, I really need to, even if it means I leave the
Golden, Colorado area (which I love).

Bottom line. I would even
go to Europe if I coudl find work. Only conditions is I have to live
someplace with some mountains, or at least hills. Flat ain't where I'm

Google "Workplace Alaska" and that is where all the AK state government jobs are listed. There's a lot of them. Only this is, now it takes new-comers 10 years to get vested. When I started working for the state 15 years ago, it was only 5 years to vest. Good money in state gov't though. And you get to live in ALASKA!

As well -- whatever the merits of her philosophical contribution (which I personally feel are overrated) -- she was, by many accounts of those who knew her, an absolutely wretched individual on a personal level.

Inescapable cataclysm! Total destruction! Nowhere to hide! Make peace with your God!

Prepare yourselves, sayeth the news. This thing is coming and you can’t stop it. You’ve seen the numbers. Banks of supercomputers refining to the eighth significant figure the precise moment of impact; the location down to a half mile. The giant Obamaroid bearing down on us: unstoppable by mere puny earthlings; a rock the size of Ireland, immutable, inevitable, crushing and final. Run all you want; you’ll just die tired. This is it. The end of all we hold dear.

And what advice do we hear from political science advisors, our best and brightest stalwarts rallied to stave off this disaster? What say these wise men in white coats, men that spend decades in labs, dissecting every trend and poll, crunching numbers and assaying intentions to the milligram? What help might we look to them for?

Ah! Some instructions! Something at last, some hope to cling to! Let me just check the official printout here…

No, they don't. The 1600s through the early 20th Century cioncentrates on how evil the white guy is and shows nothing but slavery to Blacks, misery to the Indains; oops, the Natives, and how the Industrail Revolution did nothing but rape the landscape that the evil white guy stole from the Indians.

That's American History, pre-1900, in a nutshell in government schools these days.

Don't joke. I went to a "non-competitive" summer camp where all camp-wide games ended in a tie. It became a running joke among the campers because, no matter the activity, the scoring was always rigged to make a tie.

I last saw Tim around these parts during our epic safari to the Bonneville Salt Flats for 2007 Speed Week, and am pleased to announce that my camera and I will be joining Tim on assignment Tuesday night amid the multitudes at the Obama Rapture in Jonestown Grant Park. Don’t want higher taxes? Barack Obama says you’re “selfish.”

Heh, this reminded me of something I haven't thought about for many years.

When I was young I was sent away to one of those big, organized Christian camps (no, it wasn't anything like that 'Jesus Camp'). On the first night one of the counselors took my sleeping bag away from me to give to another kid who didn't have one, and in turn gave me some crummy, moth-eaten piece of crap to sleep in.

Of course I protested, and pointed out that I should be allowed to use MY sleeping bag and the other kid could use the one the counselor gave me, but that did me no good. Guess I was just being selfish, eh?

Getting trounced by Ike in '52 didn't stop Adlai Stevenson from getting nominated again in '56. And getting stomped again.

He also thought that as long as the "smart, sophisticated people" were in his corner, he didn't need anybody else.

My Dad lives outside Chicago, and when I talked to him ealier this week it had just dropped under $3 there.

He says he'll move the tax rates
And he'll move the tax rates
If he wants them out of the way
Selfish he calls us
Sure, we're selfish
Selfish middle class, they say

Joe says we'll go through fire
Must we go through fire?
We're unprotected
Unfaithful he'll call us
Sure, we're scared of dying
He's still unvetted.

Like the righteous wind at his back
He moves drones with a smile
The difficult he can't do right now
Believe the promises, enjoy your denial

He says he'll care forever
For Auntie Zeituni it's been never
No he doesn't hold up the sky
Racist they call us
Sure, we're racist

The population is moving this way, up hte mountain. Everyone wants to be on top of the mountain because of the view. Homes in Makakilo are about 30% more than 1/2 mile down the mountain in Kapolei.

Sounds typical.

#398:

Obama will be back. But we won't have to worry about him for a few more years. The first order of business is purging the conservative movement of the pseudo-intellectuals and reorganizing our efforts from the ground up. We are slowly losing our country to ACORN-esque groups and Ayres-ian college professors.

Work from the ground up to solidify the base. Shift the paradigm - the country needs to choose between Conservatives and moderate Democrats. We've been choosing between Liberal Republicans and hard left demagogues for too long (give or take).

How to do that? I'm not sure, but I bet Mark Levin and Rush have some good ideas about that.

428 razorbacker  Fri, Oct 31, 2008 4:21:15pm

Something you don't see so much in big cities.

Wife wants fish for Friday, so I'm at a local cafe to get takeout. I'm a bad man, so I've already stereotyped the patrons by sight. One table worries me. A lot. Big guy. Muddy boots, flannel shirt. Dude with a face like Freddie Kruger before the reconstructive surgery. Just sitting there, quiet-like. At the table a boy, I don't know how old but less than ten. Kid's chattering away about everything and nothing, bouncing around in his seat, craning his neck around to see everything to be seen.

Their food comes and the kid reaches for his burger. The man says the first word I've heard him speak. Sounds like someone shaking gravel in a galvanized bucket. One word. "Son."

The kid stops, they both bow their heads to pray.

I'm still stereotyping, but I don't think that Obadin has his vote.

Selfishness denotes the precedence given in thought or deed to the self, i.e., self interest or self concern. It is the act of placing one's own needs or desires above the needs or desires of others.
I would say that pretty much sums up Obama's life in an acorn shell.

And the saddest thing is that those kids who need a decent education the most are stuck in the worst school systems.
I might be able to forgive Obama for working on the CAC education project with Bill Ayers. But I cannot forgive him for the education decisions he made.......throwing all that money away on multi-cult crap instead of sound math and reading projects.
*spit*

I love Goddess and other teachers on this site, but they're swimming against the tide in public schools. Think how great a school COULD be if parents voted on the curriculum and restricted teaching to the core subjects. School to start at 7 and end at noon, making less time for socially damaging occurrences. Then kids could opt to take the arts and other extracurricular subjects if they so chose, after school.

School is math, science, literature, writing and history. No more.

Letter from a business owner to his Small Business Association

Dear Fellow Business Owners,
As a business owner who employs 30 people, I have resigned myself to the fact that Barack Obama, will be our next President, and that my Taxes will go up in a BIG way. To compensate for these increases, I figure that the customer will have to see an increase in my fees to them of about 8%. I will also have to lay off 6 of my employees. This really bothered me as I believe we are family here and didn't know how to choose who will have to go.

So, this is what I did. I strolled through the parking lot and found 8 Obama
bumper stickers on my employee's cars. I have decided these folks will be the first to be laid off. I can't think of another fair way to approach this problem. If you have a better idea, let me know. They're all good people.

Yaaar mates! They be scurvy rug rats at the door! Sounds like all the lizards are fired up about being selfish on paying higher taxes. Here is another idea that needs to be floated. It called paying your fair share! I am not saying we are going to just soak the rich and middle class to pay for the lesser fortunate to bask in the satisfaction of more money for their lotto games, liquor, drugs, sex, Internet porn and all the rest. Nope everyone pays a flat-tax across the board and the lesser fortunate get to pay their fair share to. I refuse to pay my hard earned time and money into kickbacks for the non-paying lesser fortunate. If the lesser fortunate want become better fortunate than I advise they get motivated, go night school and get a decent job in a good paying field. Right now I am recommending network security administration as a career path for anyone interested in IT!

They're all journalists but you don't see sportswriters getting leg tingles or publishing the wrong score. Even when you hear "homers" doing a broadcast, if the home team loses the announcers have to own up.

Apply what has become of "news" reporting to sports coverage and you'll see how far off into the weeds these fools are.

Oh, yeah, we got a Democratic Congress with Barney Franks and Christopher Dodd in the House and Senate, repectively, responsible for the Committee on Banking.
Alas, they did see fit to publish my letter - which really was extremely polite!
Ah, well.

477 Shr_Nfr  Fri, Oct 31, 2008 4:41:58pm

I will admit it. I am selfish. By this I mean that I take care of myself well enough that I can then take care of others. I strongly believe that my role in this existence is to be a good steward of all that the Lord has created. But for me to do that, I have to be in a position where I can do that. That means having some simple clothes, simple transportation, simple meals and so on. So yeah, I am selfish. I want to have those simple things. With the rest some of it I give away to people who do good works (e.g. Partners In Health) and some of it I invest which creates jobs for people so that they can have some self esteem and so that we call raise the standard of living for all of America. People on the dole are not going to develop new and better batteries. A123 of Watertown, MA may. But they are going to need capital to do it. I burn wood pellets to heat my house in winter. [Its not about global warming, its about getting off the grid and starving somebody whose politics I despise.] But New England Wood Pellet required funds to build their plant(s). The people who make the sawdust that they use as feedstock needed capital to start their furniture factories, sawmills, and all the rest. So yeah, I'm selfish. But selfish in the sense of Adam Smith and his major work "The Theory of Moral Sentiments." But I doubt 0bama has read such literature. He is just plain selfish and in it for himself first, second, third, and all the rest of the numbers.

Actually just lat the receiver down, then every minute or so from across the room, say: Hold On, I'm looking, I'm looking. Don't go anywhere! After about 10 minutes or so, she'll hang-up.

My former secretary used to set the receiver down, give them a few minutes, then pick it up, and ask them what it was they wanted, who they were etc. She would do it again in another five or so minutes, and after about four or five times would ask them to hold on while she got her husband because she was confused by what they were asking. She pulled that on me one night when I was looking for a report she was to have had done and left on my desk. She did the confused little old lady routine like nothing I've ever seen.

Yes, but maybe we will know it is coming in November... a giant asteroid or the hadron accelerator creates a black hole. I can't remember where I saw/read but there is a group that believe that the world will end on the spring or summer solstice not the winter.

If Hillary runs in 2012, she will win and then on Dec 21, if the Mians are correct I can say "Elected but not President.... hmmmm sorry about that."

James Carville? You mean the Naked Mole Rat man? I wouldn't trust what the man says without independant conformation. If someone is quoting him, challenge them for coroberating evidence. Just because it's Carville doesn't necessarily mean it is a lie, but it is a pretty good indicator of it.

Being an Objectivist, I definitely believe in the virtue of selfishness. The key is to understand the essence of what the word means, and not the distorted idea that it's running roughshod over others.

To eat food is for the self. To seek shelter is for the self. To seek a career is for the self. To seek friendship is for the self. To seek love is for the self, even though it is mutual with another. To pursue life and happiness is selfish. To be anti-selfish in this sense is to be anti-life and happiness. Is Obama against happiness? Is he against a man pursuing his dreams? It would seem so.

505 jdow-antijihad  Fri, Oct 31, 2008 5:38:39pm

Yeah, taxes are the only way you'll ever catch Joe Biden contributing to somebody who needs it. Um, and Obama's contributions have also been "other people's money."

Yes, I am selfish. I do not see that the GOVERNMENT has any right to redistribute my money or work. I have friends who are on small fixed incomes. I try to help THEM out. I have NO urge to help out people who believe in "God Damn America" or "US of KKKA". They can starve for all I care, and the sooner the better.

There is one word which in my vocabulary is a swear word which Obama's crowd uses regularly, "entitled",
as in "I am entitled to your property or money." When somebody uses them to me I see red and wish it was legal to physically remind them they are NOT entitled to what is mine UNLESS I personally elect to share it with them. Keep the damn government out of it.

{^_^}

Not widely read, but doing my little part here and here.

And will continue to do so until Tuesday and beyond.

BarryHussein, you don't mind if I call you BarryHussein, do you? You DO mind? Well, BarryHussein, the American people are anything but selfish if you approach them correctly BarryHussein. They also don't respond well to you calling them names like selfish when you have kin living in abject poverty. What's that? You don't want to take care of your father's family because they never did anything to help you? Isn't that selfish? BarryHussein, settle down. Stop throwing the furniture around. BarryHussein, if you lose on Nov. 4th will you encourage rioting on the part of your supporters? You won't disapprove? Isn't that the same as approval?

BarryHussein, I insist you sit down. That poor furniture did nothing to warrant you destroying it. So BarryHussein I understand that your white grandmother who raised you when both your parents abandoned you needs some health care. Are you in a position to help her? BarryHussein, BarryHussein, BarryHussein such language. She did take care of you when you were abandoned by both your mother and father. Why can't you see through to spot her a few bucks for the medicine? The government is responsible for taking care of her? BarryHussein, you owe her your very life. BarryHussein, suggesting doing such a nasty thing to such a fine woman should be beneath you.

Yeah, tha's better....

Halloween tip: no need to buy and pass out your own candy. Just wait until your porch is full of kids with bags of candy, figure out which kid has the most candy in his bag, then take that bag. Be sure to explain to everyone that it's not fair that this kid has more candy than everyone else, so you're going to enforce Obama's redistribution of wealth by spreading it out to those who have less.

The beauty of life lessons.

Anyone see this yet?
---------------------------

How Long Do We Have?

About the time our original thirteen states adopted their new constitution in 1787, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh, had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years earlier:

"A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government.";

"A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury.";

"From that moment on, the majority always vote for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship."

"The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years."

"During those 200 years, those nations always progressed through the following sequence:
1. From bondage to spiritual faith;
2. From spiritual faith to great courage;
3. From courage to liberty;
4. From liberty to abundance;
5. From abundance to complacency;
6. From complacency to apathy;
7. From apathy to dependence;
8. From dependence back into bondage"

Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law, St. Paul, Minnesota, points out some interesting facts concerning the 2000 Presidential election:

Number of States won by: Gore: 19; Bush: 29

Square miles of land won b y: Gore: 580,000; Bush: 2,427,000
Population of counties won by: Gore: 127 million; Bush: 143 million
Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Gore:
13.2; Bush: 2.1

Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory Bush won was
mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of this great country. Gore's territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in government-owned tenements and living off various forms of government welfare..."

Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the "complacency
and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase.

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal invaders called illegals and they vote, then we may say goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years.

Pass this along to help everyone realize just how much is at stake, knowing
that apathy is the greatest danger to our freedom.

519 Biff  Fri, Oct 31, 2008 7:08:27pm

Are the Obama tax cuts supposed to be before or after the Bush tax cuts expire? If the plan is after, isn't it really going to be a tax increase for almost everyone?

I'm serious, its like he's trying to take a place in history as an iconic figure before he's earned it.

Nope. The Hitler-esque aspects of these posters/portraits really bother me. It is also like the North Korean Kim-Jong Il posters, the Mao posters, and the Stalin posters. You would NEVER see things like this with any other American candidate for ANY office.

re: #12 zombie

This, actually, is the philosophical underpinning of Marxism.

"From each according to his means..."

Actually, there is no "from" in the original german phrase which is "Jeder nach seinen Fähigkeiten, jedem nach seinen Bedürfnissen!" (a quote appearing in the "Kritik des Gothaer Programms").

In Marxist books, capitalism is often described as an economy based on "selfishness."

Certainly not in books by Marx/Engels. They analyze economy with a materialistic philosophy. Therein, personal sentiments like "selfishness" are not the cause or base but an effect of capitalistic societies.

I am often perplexed by the meaning of political catchwords like "liberal" or "conservative" and even "marxism" in the US, since they are completely different from their original european background.

Bill Richardson just informed us that now $120k/year is the new rich. The bar started at the "astronomically high" level of $250k and gets lower every day. Biden lowered it to $200k. See how wonderful that is? Soon , everyone will be rich, including his slum-dwelling relatives!

I walked my daughter around last night for halloween... ... shes only a little less than two so I had to walk her up to every door...

I had a smirk on my face all night becuase I felt like saying in a falsetto childs voice at every door trick or treat were obama supporters and we are here to re-distribute your wealth!

I noticed one huge obama supporter with a big sign in the yard and a sheet on the house that said obama, had their house dark all night.

I guess redistribution is allways only good for the other guy in the nieghborhood.

Thinking back to last night when I was out with the family Trick-or-Treating, I don't think I saw one campaign sign the whole time. And we were out for more than 3 hours. BTW we stopped at the local grocery store and asked if we could weigh out how much candy my son received. All the cashiers gathered around as we weighed it and it came out to 9 Lbs 9 Ounces! I guess maybe they were all Obama-ites spreading the chocolate wealth!
