Obama's Aunt Living in US Illegally - Obama 'Didn't Know'

Politics | Sat, Nov 1, 2008 at 11:02:41 am PDT

Obama says he didn’t know aunt’s illegal status.

CHICAGO – Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama said Saturday he didn’t know his aunt was living in the United States illegally and believes that laws covering the situation should be followed.

The Associated Press found that Obama’s aunt had been instructed to leave the country four years ago by an immigration judge who rejected her request for asylum from her native Kenya. The woman, Zeituni Onyango (zay-TUHN on-YANG-oh), is living in public housing in Boston and is the half-sister of Obama’s late father.

A statement given to the AP by Obama’s campaign said, “Senator Obama has no knowledge of her status but obviously believes that any and all appropriate laws be followed.” Traveling with Obama in Nevada, campaign strategist David Axelrod declined to elaborate on the statement, but said: “I think people are suspicious about stories that surface in the last 72 hours of a national campaign.”

The campaign said it was returning $260 that Onyango had contributed in small increments to Obama’s presidential bid over several months. Federal election law prohibits foreigners from making political donations. Onyango listed her employer as the Boston Housing Authority and last gave $5 on Sept. 19.

The campaign of Sen. Barack Obama will refund a small number of contributions made by Obama's aunt,

The woman, Zeituni Onyango, lives in public housing in Boston and is the half-sister of Obama's late father.
The Associated Press reported today that Obama's aunt had been instructed to leave the country four years ago by an immigration judge who rejected her request for asylum from her native Kenya.
Obama campaign reports filed with the Federal Election Commission show Onyango gave $265 to the campaign. Foreign nationals are not permitted to donate to American presidential campaigns.
"Given the information that has been brought to our attention, the contributions are being refunded," Ben LaBolt, an Obama campaign spokesman, told The Washington Post this morning.
16 shane  Sat, Nov 1, 2008 11:08:04am

That's a perfectly valid argument. He might not have known her immigration status. After all, its his aunt, she lives in a slum in Boston and that isn't exactly close to a their million dollar home in Chicago. Since he believes in socialism, he believes that the state should and was taking care of his aunt. After all, he is a good church going guy. And we know what the bible says, take from others to benefit yourself. Or something like that.

Given the photo I've seen of the woman (Times of London, I think) Obama should start taking some food away from her - obesity, diabetes2, all that. Plus it would reduce her carbon footprint.

See, that one I won't touch. We give literally thousands in charity but don't declare it. Specifically because tax returns are public records and we don't feel it's anyone's business - especially if 'anyone' is a client who doesn't like Jews or Jewish charities.

Latest on Drudge: Zogby rolling tracking poll shows McCain up over Obama on Friday. Dick Morris correctly noted that Obama is the "incumbent" at this point and that if he is polling under 50%, the remaining undecideds will likely break decidedly against him, perhaps in the margin of 5 to 1. We may be seeing that happening now. While national tracking polls may continue up to the election, some of these state polls may go dark, just like they did in 1948, meaning they won't pick up this late surge that could tip states like Ohio, Florida, NC, and Virginia back to McCain.

Monday's poll result may be VERY VERY INTERESTING. The MSM may have a full blown panic attack by 5pm.

He's not the first to point that out, but there is real truth in that. The Democrat primaries were basically a referendum on Hillary, and Barry was the "not-Hillary". The general election is been a referendum on Barry, with McCain as the "not-Obama".

She attended Obama's swearing-in to the U.S. Senate in 2004, but campaign officials said Obama provided no assistance in getting her a tourist visa and doesn't know the details of her stay. The campaign said he last heard from her about two years ago when she called saying she was in Boston, but he did not see her there.

I know if I had an elderly aunt from another nation living in America, I'd know every single thing about her legal status. Hell, I'd go to great lengths making sure she's here legally and I'd see to it that she's not living on the public dollar, that she's eating well and taken care of properly. But, I'm not a narcissistic fucker who wants to be the next president.

It seems as the
time goes by, the leadership comes up with more dumb stuff for us to do.
I don't always see the big picture but the small ones are killing me. I
think the plans call for all the detainees to be released and I
understand that. What I don't get is, they keep giving us compounds
(Detention Facilities) to run, then move the detainees and close the
compounds. This happens once a month. Every time, we make improvements
and beautify the damn compounds, then we close them and go to another
broken down compound. .

Looks like they're closing the camps.

"I am my brothers keeper"

That quote should haunt Obama for years.

Now if you read about George Obama you might actually like him more than his brother. He's a hard-working guy who manages to get by and doesn't want a handout. And maybe that is why Obama doesn't want to make a big deal out him. If they put him in front of a microphone he might just admonish the poor people who are lucky enough to live in the USA and don't put any effort to use the opportunities they have here and instead complain that their handout isn't bigger.

Nice for the msm!
Mind - I hope all and everybody will totally disregard the polls and go and vote for McCain/Palin, no matter what the msm and pollsters say - either way!

The only poll which counts is that on 11/04.

Obama has testy moment with the media

CHICAGO (AP) - Democrat Barack Obama got annoyed with the media Friday as he tried to walk down a Chicago street with his 7-year-old daughter, Sasha, who was dressed up in a shiny costume for Halloween.

A pool of national photographers, reporters and a video crew traveling with Obama quickly covered the spontaneous moment.

"All right guys, that's enough," said Obama, wearing a casual outfit and sunglasses in the early evening.

He and his daughter were walking right toward the media on a public street.

"You got a shot," he told the photographers. "Leave us alone. Come on, guys."

He told the media to get back on the bus, referring to the vehicle where the traveling press pool often waits for him.

Obama then crossed the street with Sasha. At least one video cameraman who was not part of Obama's traveling press corps followed him for a while. Obama grew visibly irritated.

He and his daughter then began jogging, and even running, to get away from the media.

They ended up out of sight at a friend's house, where they were headed all along.

In a final dash for the presidency, Obama stopped into Chicago specifically to spend some time on Halloween with his family, including his other daughter, Malia, who is 10.

My guess is that their internal state by state polls are not looking so rosy. Some so-called "battleground" states they thought they had in the bag may be slipping away...

The Dems have created a huge problem for themselves: they've spent the last several years goading their Internet supporters to flood every poll they can reach with pro-Dem clicks, told them to answer any telephone polls in an overwhelmingly positive manner for Dems, and flogged them to actively solicit polling where possible through signups and other demographic manipulations.

And now, they may be realizing that they can't trust the polls anymore.

In the past, they've perversely insisted on believing their own falsified results. "The CNN website poll shows that 90% of respondents support our position! The election must have been rigged!" That, together with pollster's knack for telling their customers what they want to hear, rather than the objective truth, might be causing some discomfort.

Personally, I've told every single pollster I've run across for the last few years that I'm a screaming liberal. Who used to rabidly support Clinton. Who now supports Obama, with foam flecking my lips.

I would encourage everyone here to tell similar lies when the opportunity arises.

As a lawyer and at one time law professor you would think he would comprehend ignorance of the law is no defense.

To get into college and law school Obama had to take test as to what he knew.

To get become elected in the IL state Senate he had to demonstrate to the electorate what he knew.

To become POTUS he has to demonstrate what he knows.

So far Obama is receiving an "F" in the subject Knowledge. The same for freshman Comp Judgement.

So far all he knows is that I am "selfish" because I am not in favor of socialism, or "spreading the wealth around". It does not seem Obama knows very much about Americans or America. We do not cotton to socialism, we only have 50 states, more than a "bomb" was dropped on Pearl Harbor, and Weezie was one of the main characters in "The Jeffersons" not "Sanford and Son". I could list more examples of what most folks consider common American knowledge that Obama seems to be lacking, but at this point it is not what Obama knows that is important. What is important is what Americans know about Obama by November 4th. After November 4th my "hope" is that we "change" ASAP what is taught in our schools and colleges when it comes to American History! This elections has proven one glaring fact and that is AMERICANS DO NOT KNOW ENOUGH.

on fri. rush read from obama's book wherein he mentioned his aunt a lot.
obama spoke affectionately of her and how impt she was to him.
he used her as an example of a person in a gov't system in which the worker has no protection if they lose their job.
obama said it is up to families to help each other. he has spoken extensively of being his brother's keeper, taking care of family members. of the need to be responsible for those less privileged.
it is absolutely stunning how none of his own rhetoric applies to him. how could he not know his own dear aunt was living in a slum.
she is an illegal alien and now he says callously "the laws must be applied". under the bus she goes. just like that. because he must think of his career.

Not for being an illegal alien who has been asked to leave, and not for the fact that she is in public housing (thanks to the generosity of the American people).

I feel badly that her nephew, the "brilliant" lawyer and US Senator could not be bothered in any way to help her while he preaches to all about our selfishness. And he is so effective at it that he got her to give him $260, which she can barely afford.

The bill for the lobster and caviar room service that Michelle Obama had at the DNC convention could be what that $260 went against.

I thought it was pretty cool that he went to Chicago to take his daughter trick or treating. Let the photographers get their shot, then asked them to bug off. He does seem pretty stand up when it comes to his kids.

Unless the photographers and reporters were being abusive or rude to him or his little girl, it baffles me why he wouldn't simply ignore them, keep walking at a steady pace (so they could keep filming him being a good Dad) and talk calmly to his daughter. It's not like they were there to get dirt on him or make him say embarrassing things.

Agreed. CNN did their best to sweep it under the rug. Look at how they portray George to be an upbeat, hard-working and virtuous.

"I was brought up well. I live well even now," he said. "The magazines, they have exaggerated everything.

Me thinks The Marxist One has a temper that makes McCain's look mild.

yep, that often goes along with a gigantic ego, a small mind, and a personality that has been idolized, idealized and treated with kid gloves and obeisance since one has entered early adulthood; like a star complex writ large. If he becomes not only POTUS, but an historical first POTUS, he'd better duck his mega-size head when he goes thru doorways in the White House.

OTOH, I have the feeling The zer0's superiority complex may backfire, and his increasing arrogance and testiness may even have consequences with his acolytes in the MSM. But I've got bets that Michelle will melt down first in some way, either insisting on a political role larger than anyone ever expected, or by forming alliances and outreaches that will cause internal dissension inside of an Obama administration (God Forbid).

And Obama just had the audacity to imply that some of us are selfish because we don't want him to take any more of our assets and hand it over to the people HE wants to give it to.

We would rather share our wealth voluntarily with our family, our friends, neighbors in the community who need it or through charity.

First he can start doling out his own personal wealth to make sure that all his OWN extended family that he spoke so warmly and affectionately about has all the "material needs" they require ==THEN he is putting his money where his mouth is!

If he had never mentioned them and his affection for them it would be more understandable that he has nothing to do with them or didn't know their circumstances.

Whats wrong with this statement from the AP's article ?

Quote AP
The directive suggests that the administration is sensitive to the political implications of Onyango's case coming to light so close to the election.

The East African nation has been fractured by violence in recent years, including a period of two months of bloodshed after December 2007 that killed 1,500 people.

In Boston, Lydia Agro, communications director for the Housing Authority, said Onyango had been screened and approved for public housing as an "eligible non-citizen" when she moved in in 2003. She said the authority is not notified of deportation orders and did not know Onyango was related to Obama until two days ago.

Obama was busy rubbing elbows with and campaigning for Marxist Railla Odinga and when Odinga lost his bid his supporters grabbed machetes and started hacking until a power sharing agreement was forcibly reached ...
Obama indirectly helped to bring that massacre about by stumping for Odinga , and the AP uses it to prop up a reason for Obamas Auntie not to be sent packing .

n regards to Barack Obama's aunt, I read:

"ICE is prohibited from commenting on any individual's status or the status of any case."

My understanding is as follows:

1) The aunt did not follow her departation order.
2) Failure to obey her deportation order makes the aunt a fugitive alien.
3) All fugitive aliens are entered into the FBI's National Crime Information Center Database -- which nearly all law enforcement agencies use to search for warrants.
4) Barring certain national security and other special-case exceptions, all entries in the FBI National Crime Information Center Database are public information.
5) Immigration Court hearings (barring certain national security and other special-case exceptions) are public records.

Am I incorrect (certainly possible, as I haven't researched the matter)? Or is it true that the aunt's deportation order and her presumed entry in the FBI National Crime Information Center Database are both public records?

Can anyone shed light on this?

324 eaglewingz08  Sun, Nov 2, 2008 12:14:43pm

For someone the media and his democrap followers claim is sooooooo smart (so smart that no one at Columbia University ever heard of him) to be President, Obama is more clueless than Tim Conway in one of his skits on the Carol Burnett show as Mr. Turdball (phon.). Obama didn't know about Rezko, he didn't know about Wright, he didn't know about Pflegar, he didn't know about Ayers, he didn't know about Dohrn, he didn't know about Klonsky, he didn't know about his aunt, he didn't know about Khalidi, he didn't know about Edward Said, he didn't know about Farakkhan, he didn't know about Franklin Marshall Davis, and the list goes on and on and on about all the close friends and mentors whom Barry never had a clue about. Yet this man who can stand in the midst of such hatred without having a clue about what's going on (can someone say 'present') wants us to entrust him with the highest office in the world, to deal with leaders whom such President MUST have good instincts and knowledge concerning, for the good of this country and the world. Yet, the poor judgment and insight that Barry has demonstrated throughout his life in his associations and in his ideology, are precious little comfort that he has a clue now, or would have any clue as President, concerning who is trustworthy and honorable and patriotic and who is not.
I only hope that the refusals to answer polls because the recipients intend to vote for McCain but are afraid to let pollsters know for fear of being dinged as racists or worse, is significantly larger than the margins showing Obama in the lead, and that repubs will turn out in droves to vote for Gov Palin and her running mate, McCain and against the socialist who wants to not only destroy our coal fired generating plants but also to destroy our agricultural industry and health care industry. This neophyte is a clear and present danger to the republic (the only hope would be that he is too incompetent to actually manage the day to day affairs of the federal gov't, but that would only mean that Pelousy, Reid and Biden would do the dirty socialist work, not Obama).
