Card: Obama's Cruel Tax on the Poor

Opinion | Mon, Nov 3, 2008 at 9:17:25 pm PST

Another spot-on essay from Orson Scott Card: America Unplugged! Obama’s Cruel Tax on the Poor.

It’s all in the name of Obama’s True Belief in Global Warming. He says it himself — he’ll take coal off the table as an “ideological matter.” Even if technology allows us to use coal in a clean way, he’s opposed to pursuing it.

He wants to put a huge penalty on companies that emit carbon — which means that starting up new coal-powered electrical plants will be prohibitively expensive. In Obama’s own words, “It will bankrupt them.”

“Cap and trade” plans have already been tried, and they don’t work — they cost too much, and people find ways to get around them. But Obama promises us that he’ll take that failed idea and be “as aggressive, if not more aggressive, than anybody else’s” plan.

In other words, if it doesn’t work, let’s do more of it!

This is Obama the New Puritan. We’ve found his real religion: Political and Environmental Correctness.

It’s more important to him to eliminate coal than to find practical solutions. Why? Because coal is “bad.” Our groupthinking “intellectual” elite thinks they are post-religious — but they believe in sin and hate the sinners.

Punishing business always hurts the poor, as business passes the cost on to consumers and it's the poor who are least likely to be able to afford the additional cost of the product. In the case of energy- it will be devastating.

just got home from the McCain rally here in Henderson. Joe Lieberman was there. We had to wait 2 hours, but got to boo Harry Reid several times, and Barney Frank and the rest of the scumbags. McCain was revved up, and his finale was like at the convention, but longer and stronger.

I'm going to vote early tomorrow and then drive to headquarters to see if they need people to drive folks to the polls.

Senator Government wins in tiny town which will be reported as major city on CNN ...it is being reported as Landslide on Drudge...

DIXVILLE NOTCH, N.H. (AP) - Democrat Barack Obama came up a big winner in the presidential race in Dixville Notch, N.H., where the nation's first Election Day votes were cast and counted early Tuesday.
Obama defeated John McCain 15-6. Independent Ralph Nader was also on the ballot, but received no votes.

The first voter, following tradition established in 1948, was picked ahead of the midnight voting and the rest of the town's 19 registered voters followed suit in Tuesday's first minutes.

Town Clerk Rick Erwin says the northern New Hampshire town is proud of its tradition, but says the most important thing is that the turnout represents 100 percent vote.

President Bush won the vote in Dixville Notch in 2004 on the way to his re-election.

Pennsylvania is where it's at.

McCain needs to win Ohio and Florida. Republicans always have to win Ohio and Florida. Then, Virginia is really important. Virginia is always really important. Arizona and Wyoming are being presented as "toss-ups" That's stupid. Arizona is not up in the air, and neither is Wyoming. If Obama wins either of those states, he cheated.

So then, it's a matter of winning more battleground states. Just like it always is.

It comes down to PA.

Everyone is saying McCain needs a miracle to win. He doesn't need a miracle. He needs PA.

A little over two years ago:
1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
3) the unemployment rate was 4.5%.
4) the DOW JONES hit a record high--14,000 +
5) American's were buying new cars,taking cruises,vacations
overseas, living large!...

But American's wanted 'CHANGE'! So, in 2006 they voted in a Democratic Congress and yes--we got 'CHANGE' all right. In the PAST YEAR:
1) Consumer confidence has plummeted ;
2) Gasoline is now over $4 a gallon & climbing!;
3) Unemployment is up to 5.9%(a 10% increase);
4) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $12 TRILLION
DOLLARS and prices still dropping;
5) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.
6) as I write, THE DOW20is probing another low~~
$2.5 TRILLION DOLLARS HAS EVAPORATED FROM THEIR STOCKS, BONDS & MUTUAL FUNDS INVESTMENT
PORTFOLIOS!

YES, IN 2006 AMERICA VOTED FOR CHANGE...AND WE SURE GOT IT!....

REMEMBER THE PRESIDENT HAS NO CONTROL OVER ANY OF THESE ISSUES, ONLY CONGRESS.

After the big gamble on subprime mortgages that led to the current financial crisis, is there going to be an even bigger gamble, by putting the fate of a nation in the hands of a man whose only qualifications are ego and mouth?

I've been reading Thomas Sowell for twenty years, and this is one of the sharpest editorials he's ever written.

Juxtaposing The One with a real leader, a successful executive, in the new book by Lee Iacocca, in the concluding chapter, the former Chrysler chief lays down a list of concise principles anyone can follow to help them gain the edge and succeed in business, encapsulating each principle with a memorable term, similar to the following:

* Courage
* Character
* Conviction
* Confidence
* Challenge
* Communication
* Craftsmanship

Due to the Righteous Wind of the upcoming fairness doctrine, we're also obliged to publish Barak Obama's list:

* Conformity
* Condescention
* Chicago
* Cronyism
* Culpability
* Criminal Contribution
* Conviction (a different kind)

First person picked plus rest of the 19 equals 20 people.

A funny thing happened to Hillary on the way to the primaries. Bubba pardoned a couple of Weather Underground women serving time for their part in their extracurricular activities, thus negating Hillary's ability to use the Obama/Ayers connection to its maximum capability. I'll bet he's had a few dinner plates thrown at him for that the past few months. We have Bubba to thank for Obama if he's elected.

For those of you who nervously go to sleep tonight in anticipation for the possibility of a very bad day, let me say this: We who believe that America's best days are ahead, and that individual liberty trumps the philosophy of the gov't telling you what property and wealth you are permitted, who believe the United State's of America is a force for good in the world who has a legacy that is heroic and resolute in the face of tyranny, who understand that we are all made equal in the eyes of our Creator, who are willing to fight for the closely held beliefs of our forefathers which dispels the role of government as overlords in favor of a representative government of the people, by the people and for the people, and most importantly, a belief system that permits dissension amongst the republic to advance the notion of freedom even when a majority discerns that such dissension does not conform to the whims of the held beliefs of the majority, I say to you that tomorrow there is hope for change, yes, Barack, Hope for Change, that the ideals that this Country were founded on will not be dimiished and made small by the iconic belief that there is something out there that is better than what we know in our core and in our hearts, namely that the hope is that we do not change so drastically that we leave behind the very greatness that buttresses the moorings of this nation to turn instead to a luminous ephemeral thing that is more phosphrous than actual fire. The fire we seek can be found in a man who spent over 1,500 days in squalor wondering why his God has left him to live... unless if perchance to lead...let us vote for this man. He is not a perfect man. But unlike the luminous one who denigrates his legacy with a sly brush of his middle finger, the former has earned his stripes and is what and why our parents were proud of this country. A leader. Not a charlatan. Tomorrow victory is marching. Glory, Glory alleluaha...

Although going "John Galt" we can shrink revenues to the treasury - shrink the size of government and blame it all on the Democrats. That would work for me. the problem is those judicial appointments.

I want to mention something else that hasn't gotten much mention:

Obama also said that he's against nuclear.

Until there's a "safe" way to deal with waste.

Here's a hint: there's already a safe way to deal with it, you bury it somewhere. Obama is against nuclear power until it makes no nuclear waste.

Well guess what, Barry? Every method of generating power has its downside.

Obama wants to take both coal AND nuclear off the table, as an ideological matter.

We can't afford to get rid of coal. We NEED more nuke plants. Obama hates both. For "ideological" reasons. GRRRRRRRRRR. I'm mad like that picture of McCain where he's gritting his teeth and one eye is sort of shut because of his grimace. I'm grinding-my-teeth mad. We need nuclear power. Obama claims to be in favor of it--sometimes. But other times, he's not.

We are about to put Chauncey Gardner in the White House. Who the hell knows what he's going to do as president? No one knows! Not Bill Ayers, not Jeremiah Wright, not Nancy Pelosi, not Harry Reid, not Hillary Clinton. NOBODY FREAKING KNOWS what he's going to do. HE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW.

The solution seems obvious enough: we have to pressure him. We have to keep the pressure up, because he's flexible. We can bend him, if we keep the pressure up on him. Maybe.

181 funky chicken  Mon, Nov 3, 2008 9:59:08pm

Look at Hillbuzz's map. They have McCain 286 EVs. They give NH to Obama.

They give VA to McCain, but that's only 13 votes. And they give CO and NM to Obama. I'd guess they are right about NM, but I think CO is still tight.

Hey Cartman - good to see you out here. But listen, first of all McCain IS gonna win tomorrow (or whenever Ohio gets around to figuring out what to do with the hundreds of thousands of fraudulent votes) and even if he doesn't win, we won't have a Europization of America. Really we won't. Even if Obama should win (shudder) AND get a super majority in Congress (double shudder) we won't. Don't forget that ALL those members of the House of Representatives are gonna face re-election in 2010 and can't take the chance of pissing off the same folks who voted 'em in.

260 DistantThunder  Mon, Nov 3, 2008 10:13:49pm

True story...10 year old daughter came home from school saying that the elderly scruffy bus driver had been drinking out of a brown bottle in a bag. She said it looked like a beer bottle. She was standing outside the door of the bus waiting to get on. When he saw her he hurriedly put the bottle away.

We reported it, superintendent said he would investigate. Next day on the bus the driver stops the bus before pulling up to our stop and demands an apology for whoever turned him in for drinking. Daughter came home hysterical - school said they found nothing inappropriate with the driver's behavior - and we decided to home school her.

The next September she wanted to go back. I didn't want to have to drive her every morning and load up all the little ones. I prayed fervently for about 2 weeks trying to come up with a solution. And then a week before school started and he was scheduled to resume his driving, he dropped dead of a massive heart attack while crossing the street in front of his home.

I thought at the time: Well, ok that works too - although I never once wished him any harm. But can you imagine if he'd had that heart attack while driving the bus?

That year broke the Redskins superstition - the 'Skins lost and Bush won.

No reason to believe that this year could break the "Dixville Notch" superstition also.

I heard that tradition redefined today as, "a victory for the Skins means victory for the party who won the popular vote in the prior election."

Let's not discuss how the game went tonight.

Punishing business always hurts the poor, as business passes the cost on to consumers and it's the poor who are least likely to be able to afford the additional cost of the product. In the case of energy- it will be devastating.

Not to mention in the colder states how many of poor people will just not be able to afford heat......how many will fall victim to the cold?

Bless our land with honourable industry, sound learning, and pure manners. Save us from violence, discord, and confusion; from pride and arrogancy, and from every evil way. Defend our liberties, and fashion into one united people the multitudes brought hither out of many kindreds and tongues. Endue with the spirit of wisdom those to whom in thy Name we entrust the authority of government, that there may be justice and peace at home, and that, through obedience to thy law, we may show forth thy praise among the nations of the earth. In the time of prosperity, fill our hearts with thankfulness, and in the day of trouble, suffer not our trust in thee to fail; all which we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen."

re: #212 nigella

Its hard to say in somebody with a Negroid gene pool I have not seen enough examples to draw any conclusion. If you are Caucasian, blue lips are a symptom of low blood oxygen. Any number of possible causes, but first on the list is insufficient oxygenation due to some sort of heart problem. It could be benign such as bundle branch block. [For those unfamiliar with this, the atrial node normally fires first, and then the signal for the balance of the heart to contract is carried by a nerve bundle that has the name of the Bundle of His at the junction of the atrium and the ventricle. If there is a malfunction, the ventricle spontaneously beats by itself after a while instead of when the nerve impulse hits. Obviously an inefficient way to go, but not something that is life threatening.] It can also be a problem in the lungs or in the heart anatomy that is much more severe than just a block. I suspect that he either has something benign or nothing at all.

I have to tell you all I have been to some Puma sites and they are fired up to vote against Obama. Trouble is no one has a handle on how many there are of them. Pray they are numerous!

I heard Newt Gingrich tonight on Hannity & Colmes. He knows everthing Georgian. He said Georgia has had record turnout for early voting. It is not African-Americans or young people setting the records as predicted. He said it was white females. The dems were bragging just yesterday that Georgia was in play.

Bush's first day in office

On his first day in office, Bush moved to block federal aid to foreign groups that offered counseling or any other assistance to women in obtaining abortions.[1] Days later, he announced his commitment to channeling more federal aid to faith-based service organizations.

So far I am unimpressed, of course, I think you are the one who mentioned his history here on LGF. I have to say that my training for the election was really good this year, however. Something that had never been stressed before was that an "assisted voter" may not be helped by an employer, union boss or agent of either. I liked the fact that they stressed that.

Wish me luck tomorrow. I am in a 95%+ dem precinct, but at least it's my own and I know the folks here in the neighborhood. I'm the only republican working as well but my fellow poll workers and I get along. Hope we don't get any weirods. LOL

It's what it will come down to. What will start as carbon emissions rationing will lead to food rationing... which, by the way, is my bitter taste of communism in Albania as a child.

All roads lead to Rome.

All redistributive interventionist roads, if followed persistently enough, lead to mass starvation.

I hate Communism! And I'm afraid this bastard is about to win... if he does, you know how he will remembered? Likely as FDR... who was an AWFUL president and did more damage to the free enterprise spirit of the US than any president before or since. But he is remembered as a savior...

People can be too stubborn, too emotionally invested in ever recognizing their failure in anointing The One, lionize him despite the disasters he will surely bring, and blame those on free enterprise, on "de/un-regulation"... and drag us down Europe's path of no return...

>depressed....

FDR laid the groundwork for the destruction of the country. It would take a long time, but it set a path. We have to divert the country from that path. We have to restore the sense that people have to make their own way. That's what FDR took away - he made people feel like they should look to Washington DC to solve their problems.

NO! NO! -- It will not happen. The MSM talking heads will come out early for BHO just like that smug democrat Susan something did four years ago when she said that Kerry was taking the election around 8 pm based upon exit polls. They'll be talking about a "historic" win for BHO.

Don't believe them! Every vote counts! Get out there and vote.
As more states come in they will stand in stark disbelief as McCain begins to sew up state after state after state. By 11:30 - they'll be calling it for McCain/Palin - with heads exploding! This is gonna be fun!

re: #325 DistantThunder

Their intention is to psychologically depress you - don't let them - I'm feeling optimistic that either McCain will win or we will have a great opportunity to make the Dems look really bad.

My psychological state has zero bearing on the outcome of the election. I'm not a citizen so I can't vote (though I'm sure if I cared to try, I would be get away with it). If McCain prevailed, it would be a Pyrrhic victory for me... actually, just relief. I don't have great expectations for him, but at least I do know what to expect. With Obama, I have no idea how deep the bottom would go...

I would think that after the financial fiasco, people be feeling a bit extra skeptical of anything/anyone sounding too good to be true. Hubris got people in trouble in the first place, with this sub-prime debacle. Didn't anyone learn prudence? No one is feeling more risk averse these days?

If not, it's a horrific sign that no true lessons were learned.

I sure hope people wake up and opt for the lesser and much more quantifiable of the two evils, if they had to put it that way. No one has to love McCain to recognize that the difference between him and Obama is like that between night and day.

My fingers are crossed tightly.

They can't get there from here without making the American economy strong and make Amercia strong in the World, cause THEY (the Obamatrons) want to LEAD the World to where it should go by THEIR ELITIST STANDARDS and will need a strong, prosperous American Economy and military to do that.
Otherwise THEIR American will just be one of the hoi poloi and they couldn't stand that - THEY HAVE TO LEAD THE WORLD CAUSE THEY ARE ELITIST ASSHOLES.

Once that path is embarked on, there is unbelievable internal inertia. I for once can barely believe that corporations are taxed AT ALL in this country... let alone making sense of talk about increasing corporate taxes.

I think the prime mover, the ultimate cause, is the degeneration which public education has produced among new generations of Americans. Aren't people taught that taxing corporations has nothing to do with taxing "CEO-s" (I wonder how many even really know what the acronym stands for and what the functions of a CEO are), executives, even boards. Perhaps they hear of sensationalist news of executives making millions, and they assume that's the corporation's wealth. Don't people get it, that executives are simply on PAYROLL? That the owners and managers of corporations are different people/entities? That most voters are either directly or indirectly, shareholders (through pension or investment funds)? That such income is taxed TWICE?

Crap like this just makes me want to scream.

And FDR was a monster. yes. Watch his videos, with the huge Fuhrer-like portraits of himself hanging everywhere... borderline fascist...

I don't know who can pull the country out of this path. No worthy contenders out in the horizon yet. McCain at least would decelerate the decay compared to Obama.

I was all set to retire next month...I have to really re think this now.
I know, this pales in comparison to the "big picture" but its just one more punch in the gut that I really didn't need before tomorrow.

Has anyone commented on his answer concerning his aunt in Boston ?
Have you thought this all the way through ? He said he has no contact with her. We know she is very aware of his campaign - she makes $5 contributions whenever she gets a few spare dolars. He says he "believes in the rule of law" so she has to go. THINK ABOUT THAT ! She may very well have heard that interview today as the TV has been her only contact with him according to this S.O.B. ! All I could picture is her trudging back up the stairs in her walk up, a neighbor, hearing her coming up the stairs, steps out into the hall and says "your nephew is gonna be on TV again in just a minute ! C'mon in and we'll have a cup of coffee and watch it - I just got my cable hooked back up again...". They sit in front of the TV, shes proud as hell of her nephew who, you just know if shes sending him $5 contributions every time she drops off a bag of cans at the recycling center and passes up some fresh fruit and veggies so as to have the $5 to send her nephew for his campaign, (puff, puff) hears him say, for all intents and purposes "deport her, thats my opinion, she has to go, rule of law ya know". Can you FREAKIN' IMAGINE ? What a COLD HEARTED
SOB ! Tony Soprano isn't that cold hearted LOL ! Seriously though, I'm not kiddin here, there is a very REAL possibility that this is how her day went ! Then, as Rush pointed out, they send back her $250. in donations - EXACTLY $250. If a presidential candidate can't find his own aunt in Boston, how the hell is he going to find bin Laden ? He could find her ANY damn minute of the day if he wanted to - who the hell is he BS'ing ? And no one calls him on this ? Imagine if W. did this ? "Mr. President, with ALL the resources at your disposal, you are going to tell me, and all the listeners out there watching you here on TV right now, that YOU can not find your poor, starving aunt right here in Boston Mass. ? I find that quite incredible, if not down right despicable Mr. President...and I think our viewers would agree. Just how then do you think you'll find bin Laden ?"

Back in my leftist days we used to laugh at the pamphlets of the Communist Party of Canada (Marxist-Leninist), who were disciples of Hoxha in his Maoist period. They believed he was the only pure Marxist-Leninist in the world.

Well, he WAS. He broke ties with the USSR, contending that they had gone too soft after Stalin's death, that they had de facto embraced capitalism. Then even Mao went too soft for Enver's taste, and he embarked upon a mission of national "self-sufficiency". That is, he cut relations with all of the rest of the world and forced Albanians to eat grass...

A true Marxist-Leninist-Stalinist.

The pollsters are all overweighting Democrat voters. There won't be a 6 to 10 point advantage in registered Democrats vs. Republicans in this election.

There was no Dem advantage in 2004, there was a 3 point advantage in 2006 when Reps stayed home in disgust... they won't stay home tomorrow.

The pollsters fell for the "enthusiasm gap" sold by the Democrat party because all of the polling companies are in NYC, DC, and LA... as is the media, so they didn't catch the flawed assumption either.

Vote! Shock the World!

No, sir. They want to remove America as the impediment to world Socialism. They know that the failure of the American experiment will open the door to the resurgence of Socialism. They believe that whichever power rises to eclipse America will repay them with positions in the privilegentsia.

Liberals typically engage in criticizing CEOs because that's what they learned through popular culture: Hollywood and the movies. It's the same as saying "big oil" in front of a crowd or using it as a line in a movie.

Corporations should reserve and retain the right to pay their CEOs however they please. It is not the place of government to place salary controls or special taxes to control these salaries. Much can be said.

In short, I'm ready to declare "lights out" for myself, but by no means am I prepared to call lights out for our side in this momentous clash of ideology. I appreciate being "accepted" by the rest of you lizards and must say that I leave LGF informed, enlightened, and/or entertained after every visit I make. Thanks to the exchanges here, I still retain my belief that McCain/Palin can (and will) emerge victorious when all is said and done. I pray that the aftermath following the election will NOT live up to the assertions made from all directions, and that we are given the strength to continue the fight to ensure that all that has made this country so unique DOES NOT PERISH FROM THE EARTH.

Tomorrow morning, I'll be finalizing my decisions for local issues, in between working, and by late morning, early afternoon, I'll cast my ballot for the best (though not perfect) proponent we have to ensure that so much that we hold dear is preserved.

More from Roxanne at the Telegraph...

"You asked for one reason to vote for Obama besides the mantra of change, well there are many. The most important one is he will end poverty and ensure that ALL have the basic necessities of life required to survive. Walk around the city, and open your eyes to the homeless, the poor, those without food or healthcare. Is it fair that the richest nation in the World also has the poorest people who are forgotten? No its not. It is your God given duty to help the poor and not a redistribution of wealth which is the Republican mantra. With Obama in Office, people will not have to go to bed hungry. Mothers will have healthcare for their children, and all will have the necessities of life. Not just the basics but why should the rich peoples children have the advantage of things such as computers to help them in school, poor children deserve the same. All children should be given the opportunity to attend college. All people deserve a decent place to live. People will not fall between the cracks and be forgotten. Through Obama, this is all possible. As Joe Biden stated, but was criticized for, it is our patriotic duty to help those less fortunate than us. This IS NOT socialism, communism, or any other "ism", this is the American Way. The way our forefathers intended. Show you are a caring person and not callous, when you go into the voting booth tomorrow, vote for the good of mankind and the world, vote Obama. You will feel good for doing the right and noble thing."

Over on the side of the yard, a little further back from the road, underneath a tree was a McCain/Palin sign. :)

Giant bat returns from brink of extinction

A fruit bat with a wingspan of more than five feet has made a spectacular return from the brink of extinction, a conservation group said Friday.

The Pemba flying fox, a native of Pemba island off Tanzania in Africa, was reduced to just a few specimens as recently as 1989 and listed as critically endangered, said Fauna & Flora International.

"Less than twenty years ago this bat looked set to disappear off the face of the planet forever," said Joy Juma of FFI's East Africa Program. "At one time roast bat was a very common dish on Pemba. Now people value the bats for different reasons."

Anything like Roast Beast?

re: #500 kynna

I had a lady call me last night and ask me if I'd decided who I was going to vote for. I said 'yes'. *pause* *pause* *awkward pause* Finally she starts to ask me who and I cut her off with 'I don't share my preferences.'

Which in California basically declares you're a dirty Republican.

I'm celebrating voting tomorrow by finally buying my handgun. It may be my last chance to use that particular right. *sigh*

they don't even call us, and we're picking up our newest two guns tomorrow afternoon...... just in case.

sidebar: the LAPD captain at the neighborhood watch meeting tonight told me they are *not* going to be on alert for anything tomorrow..... i sure hope their optimisim is justified.

Great small font quote. That was the old KGB op.

Yup. 1950s.

Card is spot on. Again. He's wrong about global warming, but he's right about what to do. That's the beauty of the case for developing wind, nuclear, and solar. There are enough reasons to do so that even if global warming is taken off the table as a reason, there are still plenty of good reasons to build this new infrastructure.

In the meantime, unless we have electricity, it won't be possible to build or sell the stuff we have to build in order to be able to use the green/energy-independence electricity we worked to get.

Coal is the heart of the CO2 problem. We have got to get around to using a lot less of it. But as with Saint Augustine, not yet.

Except that there's no CO2 problem.

re: #415 Walter L. Newton

It's this constant referencing Obama as, litteraly the Messiah that troubles me most. The Twentieth Century had the rise (and fall) of several Messianic leaders. They were awful in the aftermath of their collapse. And henious during their reigns. Hitler, Stalin, Idi Amin, Pol Pot...these aren't names from the twentieth Century that are held in respect. Nobody worships then now, but in their hayday these men were treated as gods.

Treated like the Obamessiah has been treated. Can there be any doubt that Obama himself will join their ranks? The record is not good for these men who would be god.

I'd say the CO2 problem(CO2 saturation in atmosphere being .8%ish higher than the 50's) has more to do with large scale deforestation and urbanization of 3rd world countries. Which lowers the amount of CO2 consumed by trees than by the burning of coal in the US though or not perfectly clean but really clean coal plants.

Rustler and I missed another open door

Now I know what Joe Biden was talking about as far as a crisis for Obama. 40% of America loses their electricity, 60 % see their electric bill go through the roof and the coal industry has massive layoffs. They are camped out outside the White House with their guns ready to burn the place.

There is only one things that scares me more than having Obama for President and that is having Joe Biden a heartbeat away from it. As they say, this bunch will only have one term to do their damage.

The bad rap on cap and trade plans not working before is almost the same bad rap on communism.....it needs to be universal before it will work.
Sure.
It will be so much easier to dhimmify Americans who are cut off from breaking news than a plugged-in America that can check Drudge, LGF, Lucianne, Powerline and so many others.

100% spot on! Lizards, it's election day. My vote has been cast in FL for McCain. I hope that America will not elect a socialist but if we do, as those in the seagoing services would say, "stand by for heavy rolls".

It's going to get worse and a whole lot worse. Anyone thinking that Europe is any better off needs to take a look across the pond; they are just as screwed as we are. Folks it's going to be a bumpy ride if Obama wins. I would strap in tight, hug your kids and pray like the dickens. I don't care if you are an atheist or an agnostic, we are all going to need help from above.

"This is Obama the New Puritan. We’ve found his real religion: Political and Environmental Correctness.

It’s more important to him to eliminate coal than to find practical solutions. Why? Because coal is “bad.” Our groupthinking “intellectual” elite thinks they are post-religious — but they believe in sin and hate the sinners."

Truer words have never been written. I want to forward this to everyone I know, just these few sentences. Could not be more on the mark with this assertion.
