Live Electoral Map

We’ve embedded a live electoral map on our page, courtesy of Google; it will remain at the top of every page. Hover your mouse over states to see the current percentages, or use the drop-down menus to check out individual states and see totals by county. You can zoom in and out, pan around, and do everything you normally do with Google Maps.

UPDATE at 11/4/08 6:59:37 pm:

I removed Google’s election map, because it’s not working.

14 CIA Reject  Tue, Nov 4, 2008 4:43:33pm

An Election Day observation from the besieged north-eastern corner of the Old Dominion:

After Mrs. Reject and I voted this afternoon we took a drive around the area just to enjoy a fall afternoon and we ended up counting lawn signs. There have been BO signs out on a few lawns all summer and they were still intact, but there appeared to be no new ones. What we did find surprising is the sudden proliferation of McCain / Palin signs- they seemed to be all over the place, they outnumbered the old established BO signs by about 5 to 1 and they had just appeared literally overnight.

This tends to reinforce my personal opinion that support for McCain here has been more solid than has been observed because McCain supporters have simply maintained a low profile for fear of harassment and property damage by the nuanced, sophisticated, tolerant gang of vandals who support BO.

So like a submarine surfacing at the dark of the moon it looks like the "Silent Majority" is coming out of hiding to make itself heard right when it really counts here in Virginia.

19 Kailen  Tue, Nov 4, 2008 4:44:29pm

Both Fox News and CNN have called Vermont for Obama (at least, via their web sites) with 0.00% of districts reporting in. Current vote tally: 0-0.

Yea, it may be a shoe-in, but shouldn't they wait until at least ONE district reports in? Or, oh I dunno, waiting until enough do that there is no mathematical chance of being wrong?

Didn't they learn ANYTHING form 2000/2004?

20 Suzette  Tue, Nov 4, 2008 4:44:30pm

Just got back from NH. I was a challenger/observer in a heavily moonbat town where many UNH students live.

Same day registration is a nightmare. I can't tell you how many people were doing same day! Some people were showing up with nothing but a utility bill to prove they lived at the whatever address they were claiming.

I can't believe that this is allowed.

Don't think so. There's still the panhandle, and I think the western end is in another time zone from Miami/Orlando/Tampa, so they're likely open for another hour or so...

No! By %, Mac is up twice as much in VA as Obama is in FL. All depends on who reports first.

55 Kosh's Shadow  Tue, Nov 4, 2008 4:50:16pm

And remember that in the larger states, the liberal cities with machines (voting, I mean, not political) will be reporting first. I won't know my town's votes until some time tomorrow - paper ballots, put the x in the box.
So first results could go for the 0, but then...

Second, I didn't have my voter card, so I had to show my drivers license and the voter lady was too nice and accommodating and made me sign in to vote ... probably some law that doesn't let you vote and change your mind later in the day and vote again ... disinfranchised
Third, the most scary, a "blue hair" elderly lady that claimed she early voted just in case she died ... INVADED MY PERSONAL SPACE and handed me a "I Voted" sticker BEFORE I HAD VOTED! ... since I was in line to vote ... how did she know I was going to vote? ... I wonder if my vote even counted? ... Concerned!
Fourth, The nice lady EXPLAINED in simple english language how to use the machine and REVIEW my vote ... how did she know that english was the language I spoke? ... Even More Concerned!

/sarc off
It really only took a whole 5 mins. to run down the street and cast my vote ... McCain/Palin '08!

I've lived in a rabid blue state (CT) for so long that it's getting hard to remember that I'm not alone. Every couple of years, I watch lemmings march off the edge of a cliff by the hundreds of thousands, and it's happening again.

What's different this time is that a significant part of the electorate is too young to remember even Ronald Reagan, let alone Jimmy Carter, LBJ, Nixon, and JFK. Those 5 presidencies left a lot of important history behind -- this history isn't being reported anywhere in our skrewel systems. About the era 1960-1980, all today's 21-year old can tell you is that Vietnam was a "quagmire". I resent that remark, having been an enlisted man during the tail end of Nam. Many people I know died there, and are probably rolling over in their graves right now watching a Marxist move into the White House.

I'm with PBMB #188: stay focused. Time is on the side of truth. And history.

History repeats itself. It has to ... nobody's listening.

So the Democrats need to get six out of the seven close contests with incumbent Republicans to get to 60. (That assumes the two I's, Lieberman and the one whose name I can never remember, continue to caucus with the D's. Lieberman would a fool to do that after his support of McCain.)

re: #378 snowcrash

What about Murtha...anyone have news?

Is John Murtha a true American hero who sacrificed himself to defeat Obama?

NOTE: This is truly one of the most interesting things we have ever read — because we never once considered this for a moment, until we saw it in this post. John Murtha’s behavior in Pennsylvania the last few weeks has been so truly bizarre that we actually started to think he might have early stages of Alzheimers or conditions linked to dementia or senility. The things that have been coming out of his mouth have been so bad for Obama that if you didn’t know any better, you’d think Murtha was deliberately trying to throw the Keystone State to John McCain.

That’s John McCain, fellow military man. John McCain, who would keep America strong and not reduce or marginaize our military. Unlike Obama.

Is Murtha really wily enough to, as put below, “throw himself on a grenade” to keep a socialist like Obama from winning the White House?

If so, Murtha would be the most effective secret PUMA out there. The guy would instantly become King Sabertooth in our book (sorry Big Dawg).

VIA a truly great post over at NoQuarter: McCain May Catch a Case of Pennsylvania

In 2004 Kerry won Allegheny, and outlying counties, by slim margins:
Allegheny: 96,987

Beaver: 2,230
Washington: 552
Fayette: 4,075
That’s 103,844 votes. Leaving a margin of 40,044 votes in the 2004 totals.

There is one reason and one reason only that Kerry took these counties: Tereza Heinz-Kerry. Knowing this, Obama tried to trot her out in the run-up to the Pennsylvania primary. Her lack of enthusiasm for the candidate was pretty obvious. Obama has no such connection. In fact, the one thing he had going for him in the area, John Murtha, decided to pick the scab off the bitter/cling incident by calling his constituents racists, and then rednecks. Personally I think Murtha fell on a grenade, potentially ending his political career to prevent Obama from getting into the White House. Between that, Joe the Plumber, Bittergate, the Hillary/PUMA effect and Obama’s ever shrinking tax break income threshold (it used to be $250,000…now his ads say $200,000….his VP says $150,000….Bill Richardson says $120,000….we know it’s really around $42-50,000…middle class, get ready for the mugging) chances are McCain is going to win all four of those counties.

Another Kerry stronghold was Lackawanna and Luzerne Counties. Margins were not that wide there either.
Lackawanna County (Scranton is County Seat): 14,807
Luzerne County: 4,620

I believe that it is the PUMA effect that will have the greatest impact in drawing Democrats away from Obama. Forget Biden’s connection to Scranton. He hasn’t had any there in decades. No one is seeing his appearance there as a homecoming. It’s a hey I used to be from here vote for me kind of feeling. When Democrats for McCain and Harriet Christian are leading PUMAs on major canvassing safaris, reminding everyone what Obama and the DNC did to Hillary, the candidate they still love, what Obama said about them, etc. I see both counties in play big time. Thank you all for your hard work and dedication up there!

Popped in to see what folks were saying. I'll be optimistic until they call PA, NC, VA and FL. If McCain doesn't win 3/4 of them... it is OVER OVER OVER.

All you can hope for is to keep 41 seats in the Senate. Dole is history, so I am guessing that NC is going to Obama. Personally, I think it is over.

Conservatives lost their ways and pay the price. Maybe they'll regain their conservative small-government attitude before 2012 and hopefully this website can be less slow by then as well.

Funny how opposing websites can load in seconds every time and you get nothing but bullshit "hamster" comments here.

re: #479 JCM

GA is 62% McCain 36% Obama with 15% reporting not called.
PA is 62% Obama 36% McCain with 0.205 reporting called.

PA reporting is the Philly area.

It is? Then how can they call it? If it's in the city, Philadelphia was always going to go Obama. If in the suburbs, that's bad news for McCain.

Good, Chambliss won.

well at the end of the day Canada still has a conservative governement, so at least we were smart enough not to elect the french Obama.

Let's see how long he lasts. I hope it's a majority next time.

Screw the projections!

In an ordinary year, they might mean something.

This election is SO far out-of-the-ordinary, even those statisticians trying to do an honest job can't guarantee that past behavior will predict current trends.

Ohio has mostly Dayton and Cleveland counties reporting. Big urban areas and strongly Obama. Less or no info from other parts of the state are reported. Too early.

530 LittleGreenFavre  Tue, Nov 4, 2008 6:16:41pm

I'm done watching the FOX News coverage, since OHIO has been called for The One (minus 1) and McCain failed to flip Pennsylvania to red. This means it's over since McCain's way to 270 is now closed for good and we must get used to a President B. Hussein 0bama for the next four years.

I only can hope that at least the Dems fail to reach their goal of a filibuster-proof Senate.

I also hope that time will prove me wrong, but now I feel that this is a very sad day for America.

I'm done posting today.

re: #473 Wishing

Ok I am changing my opinion:
FOX NEWS IS AS BAD AS THE REST.

You'd think they'd be a bit more cautious after being caught with their pants down in the past - not to mention how high emotions are probably running in Philly right now ! Of course rioting also makes huge headlines.

Fox just called Ohio for O !

532 leftover54  Tue, Nov 4, 2008 6:20:37pm

...and Rove called it for Fox (Ohio).

533 NY Nana  Tue, Nov 4, 2008 6:21:46pm

537 MNsnowlizard  Tue, Nov 4, 2008 6:24:25pm

I do not if this will come through, those poor little hamsters, but how in the HELL did Minnesota get called for Obama already? The damn polls here just closed 20 minutes ago. It was probably a lost cause here in liberal land, but God almighty, the whole damn state should not dictated by a handful of counties in the metro! The Star Tribune, that commie rag, is already trumpeting that Obama is the "ninth straight Democratic presidential hopeful to take the state." Hey, Star Tribune, suck on it!

538 NY Nana  Tue, Nov 4, 2008 6:25:50pm

And the polls are still open in how many states?

May G-d help America, and our kids, grandkids, etc.

Inauguration Day? The worst birthday of my life if he ends up winning. How the hell could this happen? How?

539 sleepy jesus  Tue, Nov 4, 2008 6:33:47pm

BO is a very smooth speaker thus he could sell a lemon of a car to nearly everyone, if not all, who voted for him. The decay of this country did not start with him, but he will speed up the process faster than ever before. I hope he does not fail like most of us believe he will as it will cost us, the tax payers (working stiffs) even more if that is possible.

540 Shanghai McCoy  Tue, Nov 4, 2008 6:48:44pm

Why haven't they given McCain TX, AZ, NM, AL, LA, GA, and MS? That's a LOT of EC votes that they haven't put in McCain's total yet...

re: #539 sleepy jesus

Poverty may be the least of our problems. His ego is what scares me. I don't think Bidens prediction was any stroke of genius, we all know our enemies have been licking their lips just a waiting for this day to arrive. Who will be the "Max Beilke" of Baghdad ? Any predictions of his Cabinet picks ? Despite Powell's transgression, I, at this point in time, would feel somewhat comfortable knowing a seasoned Vet. like him at least would have O's ear. What am I saying ? This hasn't even sunk in yet ! Freakin' pinch me ! KICK
ME ! SH*T !
Forget it all...going back to lurking. This just can't be. What worse is kos kidz will be having a ball with posts like this. Lurking...

"Do you remember where you were and what you were doing when you "heard the news" ?

The reason I posted this anyhow is because I KNOW the day is coming when I can throw it all back in some L3's face and say "don't say we didn't try to tell you". Of course, for his first term at least, it will all be W's fault:
"We're stuck cleaning up his mess". The Choir " Yeah, poor O, having to deal with the MESS that Cimpy BushMcHitler left us with,...it will take YEARS". And that excuse will be good for years. DAMN IT TO HELL !
MY COUNTRY ! YOUR COUNTRY ! Why the HELL is Brit chattering away as if "alls right with the world "?
