Not to be pessimistic, but looking at the Wall street Journal interactivemap, it looks like the counties that have reported are bluer than last year. The degree of blue and redness indicates what percentage of those votes went for hat candidate.
It has the 2004 map next to it. Overall, it doesn't look good. Of course, it's not over but it's gonna be a nailbiter.

Fox just called Ohio for Obama. Obummer.
I voted for Jimmy Carter back in 1976. I regreted that during those four years he screwed up the country. I remember 21% interest rates, 18% inflation, the desimation of our military and the Iranian hostage crisis.
This thought just popped into my head: We became a stronger country after the Carter Presidency. Thanks to Reagan. So if McCain/Palin lose tonight, I will hold onto my wallet and pray that BHO doesn't destroy the country as Carter did.

No, they are against nation building. That's the lesson of Iraq. Bush thought that "because" Muslims worship the same god as Jews and Christians (sorta like they belong to a different civic league, but it's a civic league) that when freed from tyranny, they'd be like the rest of us. Not. Then there's the cost in $ and bodies. Frankly, the bodies is a very low # historically, but the cost is really hurting us. So we're not going to hit Iran because you break it, you pay for it, and Iran can't hit us now.

Actually, most polls and voter interviews have shown me that this is a one-issue election, at least for Obama voters: which candidate has promised to lower my taxes most. As if the President writes the tax code.
I wonder if they will remember why they voted the way they did, when the magical tax cuts don't happen.

Yeah, but Carter was just a well-meaning idiot, not an avowed Marxist. I just hope Nancy Pelosi's utterly inept management of the House Democrats keeps Obie from accomplishing anything until we can get a Republican majority in both houses in 2010 (which I promise you will happen if he wins).

And the fact is that he won't do anything. There won't be healthcare for everyone, he won't pull the troops out of Iraq, people will notice that he has no ability to run an administration.

I hope that the Senate Republicans fight him tooth and nail when necessary. While the Senate is suppose to be the more temperate side of Congress, I expect every Republican Senator to filibuster any attempt to diminish America's standing as an economic and military superpower. We need to make life for Obama hard when he strays to far to the left.

It's 9:45pm Eastern Time as I write this. And it's obvious Obama has won.
Karl Rove called it for the "One" yesterday.
"In an electoral college map prediction posted on his website yesterday, "Rove & Co", gives the race to Obama by a margin of 338-200 electoral college votes. "
[Link: www.rove.com...]
I don't see why pretending is going to help.
I voted for McCain (and living in Massachusetts I knew my vote wouldn't matter in the electoral college,) but I think you guys need to face reality.
1) The stock market crashed.
2) Bush has the lowest presidential approval rates in my memory.
3) Not too many people are happy with the way the wars are going in the Middle East.
4) Oil prices have gone crazy.
5) The automotive sector announced things haven't been this bad since 1945.
6) Many minorities and young people were actually excited about voting, and they didn't vote for the old white guy.
7) The MSM was totally in the tank for Obama.
I can think of dozens of other reasons, including McCain ran a terrible campaign.
Anyway, the pendulum has to swing. Eight years of Clinton, eight years of Bush 43, and now? Well it's time for Obama to get his chance.
I feel sad for McCain. If things had gone a bit differently he might have been President in 2000, instead of the current occupant. I think he would have made some different choices in the Mideast...but that only happened in some alternate reality.
Barring a miracle, the fat lady has sung.

Well, my plan if the big zero does win is to cash in my IRA and take the tax hit this year before the taxes go way up. Then I'm going to keep my money in a very low interst account to prevent having to pay taxes on it. I'm old enough to file for Social Security benefits for myself and my wife so I'll shut down my consulting business and only work enough to cover my mortgage payments. That should allow me to escape the big zeros tax increases while also not funding any of his spending.
