OH, NC too close to call per Fox. What say you, PJ media? Let's go check!

2 WitchDoctor  Tue, Nov 4, 2008 5:52:51pm

Dang. So many threads. I picture the hamsters in that scene in Glory when they go to punish Denzel for desertion and they rip off his shirt and he's already been whipped many times (powerful scene btw).

Poor hamsters.

3 Killgore Trout  Tue, Nov 4, 2008 5:54:18pm

Ohio looking really bad.

4 WitchDoctor  Tue, Nov 4, 2008 5:55:21pm

I love this country, and I know why we have (and agree with) the Electoral College, but it is just weird to see Politico have 49.3% O to 49.8% M for popular vote and 82/34 respectively for electoral.

PJTV doesn't support my machine. All other video sites do. :-(

Not quite yet. The precincts reporting are in urban areas. McCain was way down in FL at one point and is now almost even.

How the Bleep can they call Penn., with about 1% in? Exit polling showing Obama with a 20% lead?

Ohio is fine right now. Florida is fine right now. There's absolutely nothing to worry about with those state. The numbers you see are what you'd expect.

The two westernmost counties and two northeast counties, whose tallies are not in yet, are HEAVILY republican, based on 2004, and there will be more than 100,000 advantage for McCain when those come in.

Nice.

Axelrod on Fox just said that in red state areas "we're outperforming George Bush". Was that a slip of the tongue? Or does he mean Bush in 2004?

re: #31 Sharmuta

PA has a few precincts in, but very few. They're basing it on variance between exit polls and actual polls, which apparently has gotten small enough for them to call it. Whatever, there's 99% not reporting. Call it if you want, the rest of us want to see the results.

Oh, my goodness. The Kid has a project due tomorrow (assigned tonight) about the electoral college results as of the time I've designated for him to stop watching Fox and fill out the other two worksheets.

The easy part was to color a map showing each state's electoral votes according to the latest census, which I've helped him research on the Internet. (Thank goodness those states with fewer than 10 votes were to be left uncolored). Another is a table on which he must list each state's electoral votes based on that map. The last is a graph which is absolutely beyond my ken.

Oh, good grief. This is the third grade.

Barone: "WPEs" in Virginia Show That Obama's Actual Numbers Ten Points Worse Than Exit Polls

Other states also show him lagging the polls, but not to that extent. In Florida, it's around 4%.

Explaining that WPEs in PA still showed Obama comfortably ahead. Supposedly, the tallies from the counties where they've gotten actual votes are close enough to exit polls that they think they can call it... with a 1 in 250 chance of being outside-the-margin-of-error wrong.

WPEs: Are "Within precinct error." It's the comparison between exit polls in polled precincts to actual votes.

Also, PA Peeps, Murtha is in the lead. What the heck, guys?

I don't know, my dear. I'm telling myself that if Obama wins, it's a win-win:

1. Things will really be as wonderful as the moonbats think.
or
2. They'll learn a lesson that will strengthen us in the future.

I have always watched the networks, the big 3. Since I was a wee child. I have watched them less and less, but big stories they still do a pretty good job on . But, no more.
It's one of those little things I can do, we can do. It sounds like a lot of folks here don't watch much tv, fox if anything. But, if anyone else is like me, and just puts the news on at 6:30. Stop it. Now. They have handed this election to a socialist. They did more investigative work on Joe the Plumber than they ever did on Obama in 20 plus months. THEY have made him, most likely, our next president.
Their rating are down, go down more each year. But, they still have a light on in their window...time to let them die on the vine.

Who says you HAVE to? He won't represent me or the country that I once knew. He'll just be the "occupant" of the office.

329 Daisy  Tue, Nov 4, 2008 6:48:11pm

Okay, if Obama becomes POTUS, I will try my best not to moan ... but he's not there yet. As such I do take some small satisfaction in imagining the wake up call all those folks who've been under the impression they've campaigned for Tiger Woods will get when they realize HE'S NOT TIGER WOODS!

MSM always tries to disheartens us with the freekin exit polling. They are doing it again, and all you nay-sayers have fallen for it! Where is the heart of a lizard? Look past the MSM, or better yet, shut it OFF!

My nephew died for nothing.

It's not my place, but I have to respectfully say no m'mam to that. If he is one of our veterans, it is his motive and his statement to the world that is his success. The fight may have setbacks but it is not over. It will never be over. Freedom means constant vigilance, and this man has taken the side of the angels. I hope I can say the same when I join him. Time to be gracious and not resort or dip to the level of the kossacks and leftards...while planning the retaking of America in 2010 and 2012.

This is not surrender - this is the start of the resistance. We have to block the run to the left will occur in order to limit the damage that is done to the country.

We also have to clean house of the present Republican leadership and replace them with people who know how to lead and articulate / communicate a vision to the American people.

338 Globular Cluster  Tue, Nov 4, 2008 6:51:59pm

Ok, this is closer than people think. Winning solidly in nebraska and new Mexico. Ohio: populous counties already factored in, only 1/2 counties reporting. Virginia and Florida are toss ups. Missouri solidly McCain.

Guys, we survived the Jimmy Carter years, if we lose we can survive this too. Let us be gracious, there is no need for vitriol, all it means is that we have to be vigilant and hope that we can exert out influence to ensure that our worst fears are not realized if everything goes as the news outlets are declaring.

For the next 4 years every time Hail to the Chief is played by the Marine Corps Band, a President Obama with first Lady Michella by his side may be speaking for us.

Let us support him if we can, oppose him when we must, but first of all we must be loyal citizens.

Oh for crying out loud, Ranger up, soldiers! Remember that this is like a war, which I have heard described as a series of disasters followed by victory. And if we lose tonight and we do have a President Obama as a result, well, there is 2010 & 2012 to work towards. You want to curl up in a ball and whine, fine, go ahead, get it out of your system and then get back out there and take your country and government back!

And the bit about this being the USA being a racist country will be stone-cold dead. Forever. We can finally bury that sh!t once and for all. Small cold comfort, I know, but let us take victories where we can.

And vote with the wallet. Do no business with them. Cancelling newspaper subscriptions was just a start for me. I will not buy their fashion. I will not pay to go to their movies. I will not eat at their restaurants. I will not give them a single dime if I have a choice. I will also look for every [legal] way possible to avoid paying any more taxes as surely will be demanded by the Dear Leader. This is the beginning of a resistance they never imagined. Eyes wide open, head held high.

349 Empire1  Tue, Nov 4, 2008 7:06:13pm

E-5 retirement and two small SS checks ... we aren't paying income tax, but increased business and other indirect taxes will still cut into what little we get, even without bringing in the syrocketing energy costs His Creepiness is promising. It ain't gonna be fun. And there are only so many Wal-Mart greeter jobs available for people our ages.

I try to be optimistic, but at the moment, that isn't exactly easy. Still, the night's not over, and as long as McCain can manage not to concede and really blow it, there's hope.

I don't know what you mean by "a vision". The only vision that is right is individual rights, i.e. freedom. All else is folly.

The vision is there to be picked up, if someone would only run with it.

I seriously doubt that Sean Hannity, for one, believes that 2/3rds of the country were "against the war." HE at least understands that many of the 2/3rds didn't think we were pursuing the war in Iraq strongly enough.

I can't see the country indulging again in the Bush / Clinton (Coke/ Pepsi) taste test. Never say never though; I didn't think we'd see Americans voting for Socialism either. Let's hope for the usual Democrat incompetence and overreaching, as unappetizing as that sounds.

There'll still be two or three members of the SCOTUS selected this term. That's the really, really depressing thing.
