Hello, hermeneutics, how was your interview last week?

I survived. Actually, I did pretty well but they were VERY mean to me. Perhaps it is the way of academe. Picture this: A small room. In the center of the room is a 20x8 foot table. When I entered the room, everyone rose. They introduced themselves to me by the last names – Prof. Baker, etc. – and then sat down in turn. The last two to introduce themselves were the president of the school and the dean.

Then they told me to sit down on the far end of the table, facing the president/dean. On the sides of the table were about 12 professors. I felt little and childlike.

They barraged me with questions. At first, I was scared. Then, frankly, I got mad. I shot back. I think they were surprised. I told them exactly what I thought.

I think the Court found it unconstitutional to bar click assisted functionality.

In her dissenting opinion Justice Ginsburg noted:

"If an internet user finds it necessary to click certain additional functions of a website, then these users obviously do not appreciate the basic functions of the site. They have such improvements as "Strike through", "Bold", "Italics", "Quote", and "Link" - what more could a typical website user want? It is simply unbridled website opulence, and it ill serves the greater internet good."

Yes- further down she continues:

"This brazen opulence creates a sub-culture of internet sites with far less click assisted functionality, in willful defiance of the clickability clause of the federal code 56 section 9 and growing the click gap between Working and Nicely."

At this point, I'll probably give it a shot, emphasizing my ideas about media warfare. I've just about decided on "Media Beast" as a name, with "The war against the media-industrial complex" as a theme.

I hope that doesn't come across as trite - I lost my sister 3 1/2 years ago to cancer, and the holidays are, at times, quite hard for me. When I get blue about it, I hear her voice say "I love Christmas and our screwed up family, so you just stop right NOW". She would say that, I know she would. So anyway, I try to do things happy in her honor - not only at the holidays, but on July 4th (the day she passed), we go run (or walk or bike, she was a runner) in the morning, and then eat a big breakfast of her favorite things.

Layer hens are kept from roosters - hence, no baby chickens in the eggs.

Layer hens, in the prime of their egg-laying time, can produce a couple eggs per day, but for a short time. Most times they drop one egg every 23 1/2 hours.

We worked in mass-production layer houses from the time I was 8 until I was 15.

It's been suggested that I should start my own blog.
Since it's easy these days, it would seem like a slam-dunk but I've always been satisfied just to post my musings here and once in a while at places like Rantburg.
A lot more people see it here, but there is also a lot more to see from other posters. I would have a blog to myself, but I have to wonder if anyone would come there.
At this point, I'll probably give it a shot, emphasizing my ideas about media warfare. I've just about decided on "Media Beast" as a name, with "The war against the media-industrial complex" as a theme.

Questions? Comments? Ideas?

Do it! Someone will always show up. I've had mine up for about two months and am happy with the results. I have no idea what the average number of visitors each day should be, but consider any number a bonus. ;-)>

But, it is very satisfying to post ~your~ thoughts and perspective each day. Especially when you know you aren't posting at the tail end of a dead thread. *smile*

When I was little, we got fresh milk from the church secretary, who had a milk cow. We took a huge jar (must've been 2-3 gallons?) and she would strain it straight from the bucket using a cheese cloth. I remember mom making my morning chocolate milk from that jar, and I just didn't like that floating thick white milk.....aka "cream".

But sometimes the lady couldn't sell any milk because the cow got into the wild onions...

Poll: Only 6% of Americans think U.S. should back Palestinians in peace talks

Only 6 percent of Americans think the United States should stand behind the Palestinians in Middle East peace talks, according to a recent poll of voters conducted by Public Opinion Strategies and Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research and commissioned by The Israel Project.

Comparatively, 66 percent of those polled said the U.S. should support Israel in the peace process. Some 80 percent of GOP voters and 59 percent of Democratic were among those backing U.S. support for Israel.

Rino Season Is Now Open

I cannot think of Nugent now without remembering the prissy little Brit reporter who came to write a piece on him, fully expecting him to be crazy. So Nuge turned up the charm and was twice as crazy as he could be. I believe scared the poor little reporter to death. I have to hold my sides laughing reading the reporters story about it.

"Both lungs... dead bear." The arrows, which he makes himself, keep flying. "Dead bear... dead bear... dead bear."

So now whenever I hear the name Nugent, I think, "Dead bear, dead bear, dead bear."
