IAEA Springs Into Action

More than a year after an Israeli air strike took care of it, the United Nations’ blind, toothless nuclear watchdog thinks there might have been an illicit nuclear reactor in Syria.

VIENNA (Reuters) – A Syrian complex bombed by Israel bore features that would resemble those of an undeclared nuclear reactor and Syria must cooperate more with U.N. inspectors to let them draw conclusions, a watchdog report said on Wednesday.

Obtained by Reuters, the report said “significant” amounts of uranium particles were found at the site by inspectors who checked it in June but it was not enough to prove a reactor was there and further investigation was needed.

Syria claims the traces of uranium found at the site were residue from Israeli missiles used to bomb the area.

The IAEA's inspectors had "not been able to establish the exact origin, because the particles were fairly small," the senior UN official said.

A second official said the report -- the IAEA's first since it dispatched a team of experts to investigate Dair Alzour in June -- was "not conclusive."

The IAEA was "assessing Syria's explanation of the origin of the uranium particles."

IAEA can't deal with "fairly small" particles?

Bill Ayers says we must abolish all prisons.

Does BHO agree? What to do with terrorists then - talk to them until they are no longer terrorists?

We'll always have prisons. Except in some areas, it is the good people locked up and the criminals who rule the world.

Like where all the buildings have bars on their windows and the majority of the people lock themselves in after dark.

Obama's pal Ayers would have the whole world this way. Freedom for evil: prison for the good!

Obama has said he may be looking to create a "team of rivals." But this stack-up of Clinton veterans in the Obama administration has already caused buzz that this may not be what some people were looking for when they voted for change. Buried in that Rasmussen poll was this nugget: "Despite the support for Clinton to be secretary of state, 70% of voters think Obama should reach out and appoint new people for his Cabinet rather than including more people who served in the Clinton administration."

HAHAHAHA

What will you do America, you are looking at yourselves, you can not help it, what do you see?

This reminds me of an article about prostitution in yesterdays local paper here in CT. The lady was all on that women got big time sentences and the men were getting off lightly.

Well she went on to say that there were; "billions of women sold into sex slavery all over the world".

The US census estimates the worlds population as 6.73 billion. Assuming 50% are women, using her "billions" number on the low side of just 2 billion, one would assume that everyone would notice that two thirds of the worlds population of women are being sold into sex slavery. Maybe she meant millions? I don't know as I can't write a letter to the editor as they no longer acknowledge or publish mine. I am a bit too consertative for them I guess.

I guess when you are passionate about a subject as your original post was, you can just make up numbers and stats out of whole cloth.

She most likely got those numbers from them. I remember their study on Meth use among teens in the US a few years ago. They said 50% of US teens would try Meth and over half of them would get hooked and die within 2 years.

With a US teen population (13-18) of about 20 million, you would think we would notice about 5 million teens every year dying from Meth abuse. Even the US DOJ quoted this study online in their newsletter IIRC.

They just make this crap up, get it in the papers, and then when called on it, they just make it disappear. And stupid people keep quoting them year after year.

Obtained by Reuters, the report said “significant” amounts of uranium particles were found at the site by inspectors who checked it in June but it was not enough to prove a reactor was there and further investigation was needed.

You know- maybe a good place for the IAEA to start would be to look up the definition of "investigation" so that they learn what it is they're supposed to be doing.

Buzzsaw, one of the things i'm learning is that you THINK everyone knows about the bible and how to play things by the ten commandments. But you'd be sorely wrong, and most people dont even know what they are now.

Dont make assumptions that these are the people you once knew as bible loving Americans. Chances are for most .. they are not.

The sad truth is, they know they are enriched uranium particles and they have the capability to trace their origin, but won't (or, at least will never make it public).

My most memorable moment of Monicagate (anyone for alliteration?) was a co-worker launching into a total tirade of tarty terms.

Well you go around thinking that there are people who have the built in protections and parameters that have been set by anyone who went to church (or bible school) and learnt what was good and bad. The reality is over the last 40 years its been pushed to one side as being a 'side issue' and most people cant tie their own shoelaces, let alone know whats right from wrong based on biblical text.

Those of you who are quick to dismiss the Bible as a musty old book filled with contradictory stories and incomprehensible rules would do well to consider that it was the concepts contained in that very book, acting on time-release like a Contac capsule, that brought forth the liberty that we enjoy today, and that is the envy of the world. Those who enjoy that liberty can, as one of its aspects, choose to disregard the fountain from which it came--but they distance themselves from that fountain, and despise it as the wellspring of the freedom they enjoy, at their peril.

Annual salaries of $250k to figure out what the rest of the world has known since day one. Joke, complete joke.

Oh, they probably knew before Israel bombed it.
They were waiting until Syria was in the stage were it was beginning to arm missiles and aircraft with nuclear weapons—then a harsh, strongly worded note would be sent.

As it is, they are sitting on their hands for as long as possible until anything they say will have the least possible detrimental effect on Syria or until they can turn the whole thing into a condemnation, with embargoes and perhaps police actions, against Israel.
