Mugabe is running out friends. When even Jimmy Carter is liable to give a tyrant a problem, he has a problem.

You know it's pretty pathetic when despots think you're not worth having around.
Seriously though, it's pretty telling that Mugabe figures that it's not a good idea for Carter or Annan to be snooping around because what they'd find might actually be shocking to even them. After all, Mugabe's run the Zimbabwean economy into the ground - poverty is rampant, unemployment is 80%+ and inflation is probably around 2 million percent.

carter is an evil person, by design or ignorance.
he facilitated the collapse of a once prosperous and stable african country.
rhodesia was the gem of the continent until mugabe took over and destroyed the infrastructure.
the greedy commie sob started just giving away land. spreading the wealth around to his cronies and strong arm backers.
and soon farms, that had supplied much of south africa w/ food, stopped producing.
the stupid morons who now paraded around their newly acquired 'plantations' had no idea there was more to it than parading.
and now carter is not allowed in. he of all people needs to see what he has wrought.
starvation, sickness, despair.

That was my guess, as well. Also, Mugabe may see Carter as a problem now, in that the soon-to-be POTUS is an admirer of same. If Jimmy went to TEO and said, "We have to do something about the situation in Zimbabwe", backed up by press reports of the real misery there (all inflicted by Mugabe and his kleptocracy), it's very likely that The One would be faced with having to do something, no matter how much he'd prefer to just vote "present" again.
It would be one issue about which his critics on the extreme left, and everyone else who didn't vote for him, would be in full agreement. That's the sort of PR nightmare no new Administration wants.
It's also one that TEO may get stuck with, whether he wants it or not.
cheers

I understand he gets most of his weaponry from Lil' Kim in North Korea and the Chicoms. They were the ones who helped bring him to power along with the leftist sycophants in the Western media and governments who derided Rhodesia as a "racist fascist state".
Why do they keep him in power? Well, one reason might be some of the world's largest chromium deposits are there. Chrome is not just used for automobile trim, but for lining gun barrels and in jet engine parts. The Chicoms want that chrome.

This would really be funny if the situation in Zimbabwe weren't so sad. And yet the loony leftists of the world hail Mugabe for his brave whatever. Still, it would be nice to send Carter and Anan into exile with the octogenarian

Are you serious? Some people have posters of their favorite sports figures on their bedroom walls, others their favorite pop culture stars
The average Obama voter has the entire series of Anti-Americans on theirs
Well, at least there was a lot of Che Guevara imagery in their offices.
Although a quick, unscientific survey of students sporting Che T-shirts on my son's campus quickly revealed that not a single one of them knew who he was, what he had done or even what the person's name whose face they were sporting was.
It's amazing how many people you can pack into the left-hand side of the Bell Curve. Some days, it seems like it holds way more than half.

Now, if we could only keep Kofi and Jimmy out of the USA, what a wonderful world it would be.

Holy Crap! they are the Legion of Doom!
Actually, I feel Jimmah, Koffi, & Robbie Moogabe are more like the "3 stooges!" I guess "Mo" is upset at Jimmy & Koffi! Those 3 morons love stirring up trouble! And besides, Mo, Curly, Larry, Shep, & Joe were better doing things than these so-called leaders!

OWNED!
But seriously, how desperate does Mugabe have to be to bar one of the guys who put him in power entry into the country? You'd think he'd make some good PR with the UN or something.

Mugabe's still there? Why that senile marxist klepto! Thought he was consulting full time in Caracas and Washington these days.

In Carter's case I don't think we are allowed to do that, unfortunately.

Bless his heart.
As kind and well-intentioned as Jimmy Carter is, I do fervently wish he would stick to Habitat for Humanity, where he does much more good than attempting to intervene in international crises.
Zimbabwe is a catastrophe, and the last thing anyone needs is a president from thirty years ago attempting to fix the situation. While I'm no fan of the liberal illuminati, I do hope that in coming months assumed-new-Sec-of-State Clinton has better success in that arena than Annan and Carter had this week.

perhaps there's a place in Jimmah's Library for a portrait of Mugabe ...right next to the collection of Billah's empty beer cans .
